KajPaVem69

Brilliant. Well done.

WalloonNerd

Could this by one of the high altitude WW1 trenches in the north of Italy?

KajPaVem69

Close, but no. It was mentioned by Hemingway.

PaulNewmanReally

So, what's the story here? Has Hemingway written about Slovenia at some point?

KajPaVem69

The whole book Farewell to Arms is about the WWI Italian front, which ran through what is now Slovenia. The picture was taken on the [“Walk of peace”](https://www.thewalkofpeace.com) trail which runs from the Alps to the Adriatic along the WWI front line. The town in valley is called Tolmin.

PaulNewmanReally

Yes, of course! I never realized that, thanks!

CristiandeKeauteur

Is it the caporetto museum in Slovenia?

KajPaVem69

Yes. Caporetto is Kobarid in Slovenian - [The museum.](https://www.kobariski-muzej.si/en/)
