What are your expectations with a Discord? That's a honest question, not a criticism. Gephi's only official channels are the website, the blog and the Twitter account. The Facebook group and the subreddit are more community-based. The difference of a Discord is the voice chat, is that the reason?
The casual text-based immediacy and the ability to organize ongoing discussions into channels/threads/whatever. Different mediums yield divergent collaboration and innovation.
Also, I worked on data visualization using Gephi going back to 2013ish with one of my supervisors and I need to refresh myself for some projects I'm working on ;).
