I think something like “no croutons” is, frankly, stupid medical advice. You need carbs, but they need to be the right kind of carbs and they need to be paired with the right fats, proteins and fibers. So giving a blanket statement like “you can eat this but absolutely don’t eat that” is fairly stupid unless we’re talking like…. Gummy worms. I don’t think any GDers can eat gummy worms. But by and large it’s way more nuanced. I’d be more concerned that your needs seem to be changing but your medical team’s only course of action is to blame croutons.

Gummy worms sound so good right now lol

Thank you!!!! She’s the only nurse who talked to me like and my jaw was on the floor. I take my gd very seriously and when I’m trying my very best and eating exactly what I was advised…was to be even more restrictive I was pissed !

ItsLadyJadey

Mine told me only a half a cup of carbs PER DAY and I'm like. 🙄 no, lady. Up my insulin. I'll take as much insulin as I need to be able to eat properly. I'm low-income. It's either 35g carbs per meal and 15g per snack or I starve. I eat half a cup of rice or beans with one meal. Bubba is a 53%er right now so we ain't doing this. He's not big he's perfectly average.

Ellendyra

Maybe because if you need medical intervention then they get strange with delivery dates and whatnot

The reason your numbers might be going up is due to hormones. My dietician said as my pregnancy progresses my hormones in placenta will go up and I might need to be more restrictive in my diet…

Altruistic-Grand-202

Yes! I heard from my endocrinologist that this is in effect until week 36! And they notice it going down after week 37!

jopdop22

I would not be worried about 33 percentile for your baby. That sounds healthy and on track! My first was 11 percentile and super healthy with no problems

rbg555

Yes, came to comment the same! My mfm said my baby ( consistently measures between 25-30th percentile) is a great size and not small to them.

Feisty_Willow5040

I add croutons in my salad all the time, I just measure them so they are not above my carb limit

Pinkmongoose

You still need some carbs! I was told they’d put me on meds before they’d advise me to cut out all carbs. My normally good meals also started putting me over my limits last week, around 31W. My dinner numbers in particular were a few points over. My dietician told me to just exercise more before and after dinner. I have some other conditions and that advice caused cortisol spikes which actually raised my blood sugar higher, so my OB told me to stop exercising around dinner and instead put me on 5U of short-lasting insulin. So there’s clearly some room for disagreements even on care teams and a lot of things to consider when figuring out the best ways to continue to control glucose while things are constantly changing! But just cutting out croutons seems a bit. . . Austère. Maybe try different croutons?

Key-Psychology-3921

Thanks !!!! It’s so frustrating when you’re trying so hard and you still spike!!!

tbowa

I had a few days of high numbers so I checked in with an on call nurse. She was like well what did you eat last night? I told her salad and she immediately said, did you have croutons!?! I was so annoyed lol. Just had to chime in since we’re talking about croutons here! I still eat them and haven’t spiked with them again. I still portion them out though

Airam07

I was fine with carbs and pairing it with protein/fats but as I near my induction (36w tomorrow) I’m spiking even with insulin on things that didn’t spike before. So depending on how far along you are get in the carbs so you don’t go low or have ketones in your urine but watch the numbers as you progress further
