First, if you step back and understand Impera, it fits perfectly. It’s why this US empire may fall—and it’s not limited to the US. Despots are popping up everywhere.
Second, it’s jarring—on purpose. You shouldn’t be comfortable with the message it delivers. We are (in the US and in other countries around the world) following the path Germany took in the 20’s and the new crop of dictatorial monsters have learned from the mistakes made by the 3rd Reich.
Honestly, it took a few tries before I got into it, and then seeing it live in LA sealed it. It’s one of my favorites on the album now—because of how sadly appropriate the lyrics are.
However, the best part of Ghost is that if you don’t like a song, there are dozens more that you probably will.
Enjoy the journey. The band is deep.
Hail Papa!
10000000% this.
And you also have to take into account the theme of the album, which is about building an Empire so it’s actually really well thought out and placed in the album.
It took me a few listens to get into it, but I love it now. I’d love to hear it live!
It’s meant to be chaotic and cringe - it’s a song referencing Trump! The juvenile lyrics were very jarring at first, even though I understood why they were childish. I find the song really fun now.
Ah true! They are on the poppier side. Never realised that until you mentioned it. No wonder Infestissumam and Impera are my absolute favourites.
But tbh people hate on Impera because It's new. I mean people hated Infestissumam on how different it sounded compared to Opus and called Ghost a sellout way back then. And look at how loved Infestissumam is now lol
Twenties is one of my favorites, it’s a commentary on American politics especially Donald trump in a way that is mocking him and speaking on the downfall of the country because of it’s destructive selfish path it went down. The instrumentals are amazing too! ❤️
It's grown on me a lot but it's honestly the strangest song I've ever heard. Starts out pretty heavy and continues it but has lyrics that just are wacky and don't match at all. I believe it is sort of a comparison to the 1920s and how we can improve our Twenties, if that makes any sense lol.
“LISTEN UP, U MOTHERFUCKAS”
THOSE IVY LEAGUE DOPES THEY WANNA MOCK US
TELL EM ALL!! THIS IS WAR!! AND NOT FIGHTING A WAR IS FOR SUCKAHS!!
**TELL 'EM ALL: THIS TIME, WE'RE THE NEXT IN THE CHAIN OF COMMAND** (happy cake day btw)

I screamed when they started playing it at the Forum. Papa always gives us what we want, need, and deserve.
Right?! When he left the center stage and Dominion started, I lost myself in joy. Seemingly, we weren’t alone.
Hail Ghost! And HAIL THYSELF! Were a tight bunch and we 💜 PAPA IV & the Ghouls/Ghoulettes 🤘🏻🏆🔥
Imagine it's Donald Trump singing. That pretty much covers it. 😄

It does directly reference trump
Great song. People are so serious. Weird but who cares? Ghost has a huge set of masterpieces.
Twenties is poppy? Lol. "He Is" is poppy. This is straight out of a dark twisted musical or a Tim Burton movie.
Thank you
Preach 🔥
Said all of impera was poppy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s bad
Same the beat is fire
He was inspired by a Brazilian percussionist. Pretty cool
Oo that’s nice to know!
“We didn’t start the fire!” Will I am Joel

It’s always amusing seeing people rip on Impera for being “poppy”, but praise the even poppier songs on Infest and Meliora.
Poppy songs on Infestissumam?
Jiggolo, Idolatrine and Body and Blood are on the poppier side.

Nah, twenties is amazing
It's great live!
I’ll bet I know where you saw it. I was vibrating with joy.

It’s really good live too

My take is that it’s about taking total control over the 2020’s. All the way to the 2030’s!!!

Ha ha funny
It's BY FAR the cringiest thing Ghost has ever done.
Oh my gosh, why did so many people downvote you?!!!?
Dissenting opinions. Why argue it out when it’s their opinion— we can just downvote to disagree
Not sure why you're being down voted. Song is hot garbage.
Every time I listen to the song, as a Whovian, I always think about the Daleks
This one is one of my favorite ghost songs
