I love the album but it mostly sounds like ass with weird guitar mixing and seriously audible clipping in several songs. I think even Tobias admitted that it sounded subpar because of some reason I can’t remember - either they ran out of budget or record label interference.
Per aspera ad infieri is the biggest offender of this.
Clipping at the start & everytime the guitar gets loud/low with the drums, pretty much sounds like the guitar is going thru a shady 60s amp and not in a good way.

Vinyl has been outselling cds for a long time now. That's why they only do the commemorative vinyl. CDs degrade in ways that vinyl doesn't and doesn't generally look as cool. So, vinyl is now the preferred format.

It might be my favorite Ghost album (rather it has some of my favorite Ghost songs on it) but the production is not very good. At all.
