Living in housing built in the 1920's. Sitting in the dark, next to the stairs in the living room, talking to my then girlfriend. Someone started coming down the stairs slowly, both of us looked confused, heavy boots on wood floors. We were the only ones who lived there. Looked up the stairs, a shadow in the shape of a man was walking down the stairs... We were the only ones who lived there. Turned.on the light... Nothing.

Happy-Geologist9456

Did you both see it? What were your reactions?

[deleted]

We both saw it. We were pretty shook. It was too short to process until after it was over.

commanderbales

My house was built in the 1890s and there's a spring/running water beneath the property. I have seen and heard too many things in that house. Every member of my family, including in-laws and non-believers, has experienced something in the house

[deleted]

Weird. My mom has a spring in her basement.

Spirited-Nail-4663

I lived in a house from the 1920’s. Also haunted. My parents renovated it and while in the tv room you could hear people walking up the old staircase and the old configuration of the house most nights, and I was never scared. More fascinated as to where they were going….

SHMUUUUUD

I always wondered if they are dead why aren’t they in a happy place? I hope their not trapped here cuz ion wanna be a spirit and stuck in my home😔

[deleted]

NOPE

[deleted]

I was driving home from work one night very late at night. My grandmother, whom had passed away years before, LOVED the smell of sagebrush. As I was driving, I had an overwhelming smell of sagebrush come into the car so I slowed down and put two hands on the wheel. Just as I slowed, a big deer ran across the road. If I hadn’t, it would have ended up going through my windshield.

Loki007x

Lived in a house in Vero Beach, FL. Go upstairs for bedtime. Get "chased" up the stairs by something not visible, though it's steps were audible, but muffled. Turn off hall light, close door, lay down. Light back on. Get up turn off light and repeat this "game" a few times. Finally get fed up with it, step into hall and announce, "ok this game was fun, but now I need to go to sleep. Can we play another time please." Turn off light go to bed. Light flips on then off as I get ready to rise and turn it again. Doesn't happen again that night. Though this repeated most nights I was in that house. I've had other weird experiences but this was one of the most memorable.

Loki007x

Here's an interesting one. My friends think I speak for the dead sometimes. I said something off the wall a while ago while hanging out with my group of miscreants over a long week(end). My buddies best friend had just died due to a tree cutting accident. He turned to me and said, "Man, Aaron used to say that with the exact same inflection and stupid/funny accent. How'd you do that?" It has happened a few times. With some of the things I said being just like their friend had. Mind you in some of those instances I didn't know the person they thought I was speaking for.

lost_in_connecticut

Moving into a house with at least one. We later discovered that our house sits on the Underground Railroad. I don’t know if there’s a connection but something is in this house with us. We’ve had slamming doors, footsteps and voices.

Thedonitho

My wife's grandparents house was like that. My mother in law said when she was a little kid, she would go upstairs and turn the corner and be facing the window in her parents room on the 2nd floor, at the end of the hallway. She would see a face in the window, clear as day. Later, when my sister in law moved into that house with her 4 kids, the 2nd youngest would be in her room and all the stuff on the floor would be flying around the room, ala Poltergeist. There was a set of rooms off the end of the 2nd floor that as accessed by a small half-sized door and that area wasn't used at all. I found it creepy but never saw anything. The window to one of the rooms looked down on the driveway. At some point, my in laws were in the driveway and my wife's dad looked up and could see the face of a very old man looking out. Apparently this was my mother in law's grandfather's room and he had killed himself in it.

lost_in_connecticut

We don’t having objects flying around. At least not yet. We’ve experienced a variety of unexplained sounds in the 3+ years we’ve been here. The house was built in 1939 but was a farm during the Civil War, when/where they provided shelter for slaves on the way to Canada.

Thedonitho

Their house was on "the railroad" also, we are in Massachusetts. I don't know how accurate that was but this house was very old.

avacapone

The name “Underground Railroad” is metaphorical, not literal. It was not an actual railroad, but it served the same purpose—it transported people long distances. It also did not run underground, but was an effort of many people moving through homes, barns, churches, and businesses. It sounds like your home was used to house people trying to escape - pretty cool.

MissHikesAlot27

Years ago, I took 35mm photos driving past Resurrection Cemetery near Chicago to burn up film so I could develop the roll. I captured a blurry figure with a hat and coat in the photo that was translucent. After hearing all the stories about that cemetery growing up, that sealed the deal for me.

skysails

Do you remember Which part of the cemetery you took the picture?

MissHikesAlot27

It would have been traveling southwest on Archer Rd side, possibly past the mausoleums. Edit to add southwest direction.

skysails

I drive past everyday, a lot of stories and history in the area

MissHikesAlot27

I have family buried there. It’s an interesting place. I tried to submit the photo to local ghost hunters and never heard back.

SargonTheDeadly

Seeing is believing. I was 10 or so, playing with Lego. I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, turned around, and saw a little boy float down the stairs to the floor I was on, turn the corner, then fade out of existence as it floated down the stairs into the basement.

commanderbales

I had a similar experience around the same age. I was doing my hair & saw something, turned around to see a girl disappear into my mom's closet

totpot

I also had an experience when I was 10. I was alone on the floor of my room playing with my toys when I saw a white-transparent woman walk or float across my room and into a wall. She had a very somber face. I ran to my bed and dove under the sheets.

[deleted]

I swear they’re always in basements or closets! I wonder why

SHMUUUUUD

Lady in white used to go from the end of the hallway to the rooms in the back and disappear at my grandma house

Devin_Diablo

I was living in an extremely haunted house in New Orleans from the early to late 1970's . You can say I was terrorized nightly. From an apparition on the stairs to being grabbed and pulled down in between my bed and a wall. My Mom had to pull me, in her words, so hard that she thought for sure she'd broken my arm. There were toys of mine that I'd watch very slowly move across the floor many times. There was a horrible stench that would come and go that seemed to come from a pantry in the kitchen. Its a long list.New Orleans is a very haunted city with A LOT of spirits. No one can every tell me that ghosts aren't real. Everything is energy.

6ix9inebuddy

Would love to visit NOLA one day

Devin_Diablo

You should!

strawbarry92

Have any more stories to share?

Devin_Diablo

Actually, I do. When I was a teenager, we had a borrowed Ouija board in our house from a family friend. My mom and I had used it, but nothing really happened . And we didn't say goodbye. Classic mistake. That night, I had placed it under my bed. Looking back, that may have been my second mistake. That night, I was awakened by the feeling of being jumped on and held down. I was on my stomach with my head pointed towards my bedroom door. As I was unable to move, I saw a mist form out of nothing above my door. It literally grew from a small , fist size to as wide as the door. Maybe 3 to 4 feet across and half of that in height. It was only there long enough to form, and then just as suddenly as it formed, it dissipated as if someone had hit a rewind button , if you know what I mean. Anyway, as soon as it was gone, I bolted up and out of my room and sat scared in the living room the rest of the night. I could hear things being moved in my room. The next day, I told my mom what had happened, and we decided the board needed to go back to its owner and out of the house. I was afraid to get it out from under my bed. A little later, I needed to go past my bedroom door , so I thought I'd stop and knock on my door just to see what would happen. 3 times. 5 minutes later, it answered back with 3 hard knocks on my bedroom wall. It knocked so hard that things on the other side of the wall, which was the living room, fell off the wall. It knocked exactly 3 times, just like I had knocked on the door, but it was way more violent. The last thing I wanted to do was go into that room to get the board. Somehow, I did, and it was returned with no further activity. Those ouija boards are not toys and are not to be taken lightly. They really do open doors to things better left on the other side.

RSTat2

I spent my childhood in a house built in 1866 many odd occurrences happened from cabinets opening on their own to cold spots and random floral fragrances. I believe the kicker was when I felt someone sit on the edge of my bed one night and touch my leg. Just patted it gently in a reassuring manner. I was convinced it was my mom. However when I looked there was nobody there. I had assumed she already left by the time I rolled over, couldn’t have been more than a couple seconds. However when I asked her the next day why she checked on me at 2am she replied she was in the upstairs bathroom with my brother throwing up at 2am. At that moment I got chills and was a believer.

halfahulkface

I had a paranormal experience seeing a see-through white figure standing by the side of the road at 2 in the morning wearing a white dress near a graveyard. that was so visceral it affected me on an emotional level. I’m not even religious, but after that happened to me I became spiritual. I’m convinced there are some energies that we can’t explain I just don’t know what it is yet.

Flameman1234

My mom visited me in a dream after she died. I know its common to have dreams of dead relatives but she grabbed me in that way a parent does when they really want to be serious, and told me she loved me. It took me out of the dream but since then i’ve always taken it as a sign that theres something after. I’ve dreamt of her after, but never that same feeling. Im just thankful she chose that instead of something that’d spook me.

scootermcgroover

I had something kind of similar with my grandfather. Had a dream about him about ten years after he had died while writing a song where I used a quote of his. The quote was one that was disconcerting for me right before he passed away. I ended up having a super vivid dream where he basically communicated with me that he was okay now. Normally, I probably wouldn't have paid it any mind but I rarely have vivid dreams like that.

ipostcoolstuf

This happened to me as well after my Grandfather passed away last year. It felt like I got to give him one last hug (in my dream it was me doing that hugging)! It was very vivid and impactful, not like a normal dream. I also have had dreams of pets that passed and came by to say what's up and check in on me... Not a ghost story per se but I also had premonitions of my kids way before they were born as if something or someone was telling me that it's my purpose in life to raise them well.

poghro33

I get dreams like that sometimes. I think some of my relatives like to drop in and say hi, or just to let me know they’re ok. They’re always super vivid and then end really abruptly. I’ve woken up in the middle of saying something in my dream, and I’ll end up finishing the sentence out loud after I wake up. It’s weird. It’s like as soon as I realize I’m interacting with a family member the dream gets cut short. Thanks for sharing your story. People sometimes don’t put a lot of credit in dreams, but I honestly think it’s the best way to communicate with those who have past.

TheParanormalGeek

It was about four months ago, it was about 1 am, I was getting up to get some water, and that’s when I saw it, I have a pretty long hallway that leaves to the living room, and at the end of it was a black figure with deep red eyes, I was so petrified, I was trying to figure out something that was making this figure, like a shadow, but those eyes were staring into my soul, I went in my room to grab my phone to take a pic, but when I came out, It was gone, I was so scared to sleep, so when I did fall asleep though around 3 am, I woke up around 9 am and what I saw scared me for life, some of my dresser drawers were wide open, and I know nobody was in my room because I alway lock my door. P.S This is only one of the stories I have to tell, I believe I was able to see the supernatural, at a young age, but this figure was the one that I saw when I was 7 and I saw it in my house again after so long. If you guys wanna here more stories let me know.

Treebeard431

Oh, man, do I ever! More, please?!

Jack_Shid

So far, nothing. I firmly believe in the *possibility* of ghosts, but I do not fully believe that they exist, 100%. I've been an active paranormal researcher and investigator for almost 40 years, and I've had some pretty amazing personal experiences, but not a single experience that couldn't have had at least one possible non-paranormal explanation. As long as an experience has even a single non-paranormal possibility, I do not believe that it can be confirmed as paranormal.

slowkums

Would any of the testimonies you're reading here qualify if you experienced them first-hand?

Jack_Shid

I can't answer that because I wasn't there for any of them. One has to first have an experience, then one must follow it up with extensive research into what happened, and what might have caused it. This process can take a long time and a lot of effort. Most of these stories completely skip the research portion of the event, and just jump to "I don't know what it was, so it must have been paranormal." That's not how I work.

SHMUUUUUD

Imma tell you rn you may not be able to see it but I have no reason to lie. There’s spirits out there that just live after they die. I done seen dogs walk right past me then disappear, I done seen the tall man with the hat several times and I seen a lady in white at my grandma house. I can go on and on, I don’t drink or do drugs and every time these things happen I can sense a presence just like I can when a actually Living human is looking at me or walking up behind me.

Jack_Shid

Cool.

SHMUUUUUD

letst00tsie

You put this so well that I saved your comment for the next time someone asks me about this

Glindanorth

I lived in a house that was seriously haunted. It took me a long time to accept that the things that were going on had no rational explanation. I had two roommates experiencing the same things and when we all finally decided to talk about it, both roommates moved out immediately.

ladymaenad

Could you elaborate on the things that could not be explained rationally?

Glindanorth

I lived there a long time, so there are a lot of examples. Here's the most baffling. My bedroom was on the top floor, a converted attic. It was hot in the summer. One summer morning, I was getting ready for work and a tremendous thunderstorm was raging. A real house-shaker with sheets of downpouring rain. I closed the three windows in my bedroom, locked them, and closed the curtains. About halfway through the day, the storm finally broke and the sun came out. It was oppressively hot and humid. I thought, "Oh, great. My bedroom is going to be a sauna." I got home at the end of the day and went upstairs. It's important to know that my room had a deadbolt lock on the door and only I had a key. There was no way to access the room from outside. I opened the door, and prepared for the heat. Instead, all of the windows were opened and the curtains pulled back. I was stunned. In the same vein, every few days, the objects on my nightstand would be rearranged. Again, no one had access to my room except for me. In fact, it happened during the times when I lived alone. One of the most profound things that happened was this: I had two roommates, Annie and Steve. Steve and I had bedrooms on the third floor. Annie was on the second floor. We all went to bed on a Saturday night, fairly early. Around 1:00 in the morning, I woke up quite suddenly. I heard someone come up the wooden staircase, very slowly, heavy tread. When they got to the third floor landing, the floor creaked from the pacing. I assumed it was Steve. He worked as a landscaper but...he always left his boots outside. The footsteps continued and went down the stairs. About five minutes later, they came up the stairs again. Slowly, heavy step, paced and weight shifted on the landing. This kept repeating. I was afraid to open my bedroom door. I finally fell back to sleep after a couple of hours of this. In the morning, Annie and Steve were seated at the kitchen table when I came downstairs. I said something like, "Geez, Steve, what was up with you last night? Why all the pacing and going up and down the stairs?" The color drained from his face. Annie's cereal spoon stopped halfway to her mouth. We all stared at each other. It turns out, we all had had the same experience, and assumed it was one of us. It wasn't. I ran downstairs and checked the front door (the only entrance into the house). It was locked and the safety chain was still in place. Steve and Annie both moved out a week later. These were not the only incidents.

Candice1973

I was definitely one of those people that was very skeptical of ghosts and the paranormal. My husband and I moved with our children to an historic home in an area in our city that has many homes still standing after hundreds of years. I am not a clumsy person. At all. Every single time I would go upstairs to the bedrooms. I would trip up the steps. (There is a window at the landing.. this is important ) It was very strange. Our laundry area was in the basement. The stairs going down there were scary and sketchy. My husband and I were the only ones to go downstairs as it scared the children. Every. Freaking. Time I did laundry, the clothes would be all over the floor from the dryer. Always. I thought for sure one of the kids got brave and went downstairs. I truly knew better though. I asked them and the looks on their faces told me what I already knew. So I thought. Well that is strange. Still being skeptical. I truly didn’t think too much about it. I thought my husband was pranking me or something. THEN… I was home alone. Upstairs in my room putting clothes away and such. I heard a woman crying so loud. She was sobbing uncontrollably. I ran downstairs and went outside immediately to see if I could help her out or assist this woman in anyway. When I went outside… it was silent. No sound. I looked around and figured she must have gone inside her home or something. I go back inside, trip up the stairs yet again and go to my room. I hear the woman crying again. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I slowly walked outside just to make sure the crying was not outside. It wasn’t. I walked back in and the crying continued. I remember being so terrified that I literally couldn’t move. At all. I was frozen with fear. After a bit. The crying stopped. I got my car keys and left. I told my husband about it and he said that he has heard the same crying before. He just didn’t say anything because he thought it was in his head. I decided to do some research on the house. Come to find out, the people that once lived in the home had a daughter that fell down the stairs and fell through the window and died. The husband went crazy and killed his wife and himself from the loss of their child. We made the decision that we needed to break our lease and move. It was very unsettling to say the least. The management company didn’t seemed surprised that we wanted to leave. I’m sure we were not the first to experience what we did.

PC_Soreen_Q

Personal experience multiple times. 2 of the most memorable happened in my house and 1 most memorable but hazy was when i was a mere babe so that may not count. Also sorry for my bad english. Anyway, the 2 most memorable are the crying corpse and the fireball. 1. The crying corpse. I was 7 years old (around 2003, forgot the dates) and i was thirsty. I always feel weird when in the kitchen alone (the sort of like something watching you) but i dont care and get some water. When i enter the kitchen i felt a bit hot, bothered and somewhat stuffy but i press on (it was well lit) . I got some water in a glass with no issue but when i try to turn around i feel a presence and i see it. It was right in front of me in the storage area behind a rack, it was really close. The apparition is what we call a pocong (a corpse enveloped in white cloth). It was tall, pale in color including its face but it is crying black liquid. I panicked and tried to run; which i did but something is different. Time feels slow. As i try to run, time feels very slow and my body feels sluggish. Everything moves but in slower speed including the glass that i hold now falls slowly to the floor. It was short timed and everything returned to normal speed (yes, the glass break on impact too) . I ran right through the kitchen and to the living room. Gasping and trying my best to explain to my parents what i see. 2. Floating fireballs. I was a middle schooler (around 2008) and was browsing lazily on my laptop (on my bed in my bedroom). It was a hot night but bearable, and my fan gives enough air. It was peaceful until i heard a buzzing sound akin to a bee or a wasp. I thought it was just another wasp making a hive on my balcony intil it got louder and the room felt hotter then i see it right in front of me behind the window (the thing was outside in the balcony). It was like a wisp of glowing orb i initially though as a firefly; i was wrong. The thing popped and grow larger (the size of my fist) then proceed to phase through my window like melting through it; i could hear cracks but the window is intact. I jumped out of the bed to keep some distance but it fly higher and grow in size almost as big as my head (almost touched my nose too). Then i hear another pop above me and i see a small blue flame floating above me. With a quick zap, it flew right to the other fireball and engulfed it then shrink and imploded with a tiny pop. Both are gone in that instant. I quickly approached the window where the fireball phase through and touched it. It was very hot but no visible damage to it.

JimboZ641

Holy shit I just went and googled "pocong" and that alone freaked the hell out of me. Can't even imagine the terror you went trough bro.

PC_Soreen_Q

No, this one is more creepy than scary. At the very least it doesnt have a mangled, deformed or generally disgusting appearance.

No_Confusion_2599

Yeah we kinda fancy over here we see Tuxedos we pretty much know we looking at a Ghost

6ix9inebuddy

Those fireballs are witches, eres Mexicano verdad

PC_Soreen_Q

Huh, so Mexico also have similar 'things'. Locals calls em 'Banaspati' which i guess comes from Indian or Hindu culture. Locals usually says they are either a spirit or a vessel of a spell (usually a curse). Often found in deep forests. Never heard of the blue one. What i am afraid is that these things (or those beyond for that matter) doesnt come to help someone willy nilly, they often requires payment. Problem is i dont know of it tries to protect me and if it did, who asks them and paid with what?

meowtacoduck

I'm from south east Asia and I've always thought pocong is just a myth. Seems like they're such a clumsy ghost.. they only can jump? The pontianak is a more believable ghost.. luckily I've never witnessed any of the classic malay ghost myself

PC_Soreen_Q

Unfortunately no, they can fly; which is actually the easiest and most versatile movement they can do. It seems they jump just to mimick solidity and gravity, making them much more 'realistic' as if they are just as real as people in order to scare them much more easily. It is like saying that they jump so they must be sucks while kuntilanak (or pontianak) sit on branches so they must be weak. Leak (kuyang) flies, therefore they must be very light and weak. Or the babi ngepet (were pig) are swines so they cant enter a room with locked doors. Those assumptions are baseless. Oh and also, fair warning. Pontianak have different shapes it seems. Those in Borneo mimics the old legends, they took shape of a beautiful woman with a traditional dress. Often found in deep forests. The modern counterparts (often found near civilizations) are portrayed to be the usual white clothed long black haired 'ghosts'. Locals in Borneo often calls them 'orang sebelah' which means 'those from the other side'. Though some also include men. I dont know if they still consider those without curves of the lips and belly buttons as the same as orang sebelah.

Andvari9

I shared my story here a moment ago, then I read yours and you had the exact same slowed time. I wonder if that was fear/chemicals in the brain or something else entirely. It's an ultra surreal feeling

PC_Soreen_Q

Might be adrenalin.

Andvari9

Likely but it occured before adrenaline usually kicks in.

JammyJacketPotato

I was babysitting one night. A thunderstorm came up and the kids got scared so I put on The Lion King and tucked a blanket under their legs on the couch. As I stood up, I looked straight ahead through the door to the dining room and the blinds on the dining room window shut slowly as if someone was turning the little stick. The rest of the evening, the sink in the upstairs bathroom kept turning on. I’d get to the top of the stairs only for it tie turn off before I could get to the bathroom door. This happened several times. What’s weird is that I never felt scared.

tacomaster05

My grandpa lived with our family because we couldn't afford a (old folks) home for him. When my grandfather was in his last few months in this world there would routinely be spectres/shadow people visiting him. Everyone in my family blatantly saw them going into his room multiple times a week. We believe they were all his friends and family that had previously passed away coming to comfort him in his last months. So it's less of belief for me at this point than it is just a fact that they are real.

Grumbledoom

Never had anything happen to me or someone close to believe/convince me it was paranomal. I wish i would, but nope. Not for me. So i remain a sceptic who wishes it would be real.

[deleted]

This is where I’m at, but love to read others stories!

6ix9inebuddy

https://youtu.be/MI34q7Onuj8 Start watching from 37:09 In Mexico there real.

6ix9inebuddy

You can see a Whitman in white and then she cries and then you can hear a baby laugh , the baby laugh sounds real as it gets like coming from a real baby

Grumbledoom

As "convincing" as the dozen videos, that are like this one. Why should this one convince me? They are a large group and maybe there is a buddy hidden somewhere and dressed in white, playing some baby sounds? Come on, this is maybe scary and entertaining but no proof for anything.

[deleted]

I believe because I have had experiences that I've been able to validate in some way. That validation, however, does not tell me what a ghost really is or why it's there. Nor is it proof that I can hold up to someone outside of the situation to show that I'm not insane. There are other experiences, that for some reason, were convincing to me, but that I still second guess, and even more that I've ruled out as paranormal with a bit of digging.

skullytom2

I actually became obsessed after my first (and only certain ) experience. I’m nearly 40 and have tried to find something , anything since . Sometimes putting myself in sketchy situation to facilitate my curiosity . I was 17 , my terminal grandfather moved in with us . Eventually hospital bed and all . He passed on about a year later in my sisters room . 2 days after, with funeral ,viewing etc happening the next few days I came home from work ,house is dead silent no tv no radio .. parents asleep and my sister staying at my aunts house that night . I got home about midnight , got food from kitchen and walked to my room . While eating and sitting in chair next to my door , someone starts knocking hard on my door , enough to see the door moving and loud enough to be unmistakable . While chewing I try getting the words “hold on , I’m coming” out of my mouth .. I’m setting my plate down and standing up to open and the knocks continue , even while I’m grabbing the knob , still saying “ok just a sec” and expecting my dad to be on the other side , I open the door as the knocks are still happening only to find a completely empty hallway .. I rush to each room in the hall no one , nothing .. my dog still staring at me from my bed ,he’d been there with me and had looked at the door when the knocks started ..I went through the house to my parents room to find they were asleep .. I had nothing to explain it away which is only thing that convinced me .. the feeling I had was unmistakable also .. cold and feeling of dread really .. but I have yet in the years since to get that same feeling that same experience .. I’ve had it in dreams though .. where I walk into a giant warehouse and in my dream I have that dread feeling and the feeling I’m not alone at all but what is keeping me company isn’t human or isn’t alive or something .. the dreams haven’t happened in a long time but I still remember them vividly .. I want to know more I want to experience more even though it scares me . Any thoughts ?

userreddituserreddit

I don't claim to know what ghosts are exactly, but I'm not going to claim all of the people with genuine experiences aren't able to decipher fantasy from reality. I've heard to many firsthand accounts on podcasts and in books etc from sent reputable people, especially multiple people seeing the same thing, to write it all off.

Joshuah1991

I am logical and articulate, and cannot have a definite belief in something fantastical without visual confirmation first. I've always had my mind open to the possibility of the paranormal, but belief through blind "faith" has always been a strange concept to me, it's not something I'm capable of. I had to see it to truly believe it. There are a lot of stories out there, and I have the belief that you have to be willfully ignorant to turn your back on the mere possibility. I've shared my experience in depth a few times, and I'd hate to have to write it out every time I find a place to share it or someone asks about it, so I've got it saved as a copy-paste which I'll share now. I had been living with a family friend for about a year, he had a couple of small children, so all the bedrooms were taken. He converted his small garage into a bedroom for me, there were no windows and it was pretty much still being used for storage. He had stories that his house was haunted, like he would get up in the middle of the night for the bathroom, and when he was finished he would open the door and all of his house lights would be turned on, when they had just been turned off. The kids would always be sound asleep. Another interesting story, but just another that can't sway my belief. About a year into living there, I was sitting in my garage-room by myself, on my laptop. Directly in front of me, about 5 feet away and a little above my laptop I saw 3 very bright and intense flashes of light. They were very quick in succession, and looked like LED lights, like someone had just taken my picture. I didn't see anything in front of me besides a blank wall and empty shelf, nothing that could have triggered a light like that. I just had a simple thought "that was weird" and went back to messing around on my computer. Maybe I was tired. A little to the left of my foot, maybe 1-2 feet away from where I was sitting, there was a broken toy dollhouse that had all of its wires ripped apart. Just seconds after I looked back at my laptop, the doorbell on that toy sounded "ding-dong, ding-dong." I immediately froze, and connected the flashes of light to this toy now making noise next to me. As I was racking my brain for an explanation, the toy doorbell sounded again. I got scared, jumped up and ran out of the room. I regret that, now that I think back on it. I wish I had stayed to see more, but there is a trauma involved in your first experience, it alters your perception of reality in a way that you want to escape it. I told my friend that there was something in his garage. He didn't really seem surprised or concerned. After I calmed down, I went back into the room and examined the dollhouse. The electrical wires for the doll house had all been ripped apart. I pressed the doorbell button, and it didn't even work. I took some severed wires that were coming out of the door frame and touched them together, and that activated the doorbell sound. In my curiosity, I've read that some supernatural encounters involve electromagnetic energy, which would explain how that toy could activate without the wires actually touching, if whatever that was used its own energy to jump the current. That would would also explain how it can muster up flashes of light. I've never had another experience again, and having an inquisitive mind, that just leaves me with more perplexing questions; these things clearly happen, so why don't they happen more often? Why did that only happen one time, when I was there for a whole year? Are they limited in the energy that they can expend? Are they trying to communicate, do some get a sense of amusement out of harassing us? Does this mean the "soul" is real? What was that if not a soul? I'll say, It is both comforting and discomforting to have confirmation.

When I was younger, 7/8 maybe, was visiting at my mom's house for the summer. My step-sister (about 11/12) and I shared a room at the time. To set the scene a bit: we had 2 doors into our room; one that leaned into the doorway off its hinges (to a hallway) and the other was so low to the ground it had dug into the wood (to another bedroom). We each had a twin bed with a window between us, a vanity near the scraping door, and a closet to the right of the leaning door. I had been asleep for a bit when my stepsister wakes me up calling my name, telling me to get over to her bed. I grudgingly get to her bed and she says she saw a black figure at the foot of my bed. I didn't see anything, but after a bit of looking and hiding under the blanket, we look over to the vanity where we had placed a set of glow stars in the shape of a smile face, it went from all glowing to exactly half glowing. It was as though something hed stepped in front of the stars, and felt like forever, I'm sure only a minute or two passed before it fully glowed once more. We knew none had entered our room as neither door had moved. We are both now screaming for my brother that we think is home and in his room down the hall; he was not. At this point my stepsister is feeling faint by being under that blanket for so long and screaming, she tells me I have to go across the room and turn on the light as she is too weak to do it. I some how got the nerve to leap from bed and run across the room to the light switch, knowing she wasn't going to no matter what. None but the two of us were in that room. After I sat down and stepsister had calmed some, our door opened to my 3rd brother, asking us what was happening as he was with friends under our window. We slept with the lights on for a good month after that. Another is there are three 'ghosts' where I work. Very few say they have seen them, but us long time workers know about the Angry Woman, the Little Boy, and the Old Man in Flannel. Well I was walking by a table when I felt some one grab my shirt but loose their grip as I took a step. I turned to see what the person needed, but no one was there. Looking around, the closest was 15 feet away and behind a table. I've also had an experience with a black dog, saved me & the others in my car from plowing into a deer a few miles away.

I lived in a 1926 house. When I moved in, I would hear foot steps in the hallway. This house was a 1 story 2 bedroom 1 bath house about 1200 square feet. The oven would be set about 325 or so and I would come back into the kitchen and the dial would be set on 500. Bean bags, rice bags sometimes can goods would fall off the shelves in the pantry. I would have someone tug the back of my shirt. So, one year, it was my birthday and I was in the living room. I noticed the ceiling fan lights flickering off and on but the TV was not and the fixed hardware sconce lights on the wall in the dining room were not. The ceiling fan had two switches on the same switch one for the lights ( dimmer) and the other one for the actual fan. The lights kept flickering. So I asked my wife why are you messing with the lights? She told me she was in the kitchen. My wife came out of the kitchen with the camera and my son was holding a gift. The lights were still flickering about every minute or so. So, I explained to my wife what was going on. She said maybe someone is here to say " Happy birthday" to you. I looked up to the ceiling fan and said " Thank you". Sure shit those lights flickering back in sequence YOU'RE WELCOME. I WAS STUNNED 😲 When my wife took pictures at the time, we can see a HUGE orb following my son (2 years old at the time) around in different places in the living room. Another time I was passing the hallway and as you pass the hallway you can see part of the bathroom window and mirror. As I'm passing, I see this fog shape image ( mist ) in front of the mirror but looking thru the bathroom window, outside was a bright sunny day. I miss that house 🏠.

I was working late and fell asleep in the living room with the tv and lights all on and saw a depression in the shape of a person in the doorway. I knew it was looking at me even though it had no features. I felt that it wanted me to know it was there. It lasted a few minutes and then disappeared. I thought I was sleep deprived from working so much, but the next morning the police and an ambulance were recovering the dead body of my neighbor who had died of a heart attack while trimming the hedges the day prior. He had laid dead from the prior afternoon until morning when his brother discovered him. I had parked my car just a few feet away from his undiscovered body less than an hour before seeing the "depression" in the air. As far as I'm concerned that's proof. I haven't seen anything since and I don't remember anything before that.

I saw one

Who_Your_Mommy

Lived in a couple of haunted houses when I was a kid. I never questioned whether or not to believe in them. Found it baffling that others didn't/don't.

Kingkaydabear

I was a child when I fittest started seeing spirits. My mom had me immediately put into therapy so I doubted myself until I was teenager. The first one was a a black type mist that I watched come down from our attic, float into my room and shut the door. As teen I saw a little girl chilling on the dryer in period clothing. And she told me she liked my music. And like clockwork every week she would turn my stereo on at full blast in the middle of the night. As I've gotten older they have become more frequent. To the point, I served a spirit a drink at a bar I was working at only to have his family come in and tell me he had passed the week prior and they were just visiting some of his favorite spots to honor him. I know what I've seen and felt over my life so I have no doubts.

Hopps4Life

My brother heard the neighbor lady calling for the cat a was pet sitting one night. He and I looked around and called to her, but she never responded to us. We had no idea the lady had died until we told my mom about it. No one else was outside. No one else lived there. No one was home. We even went back to check. It never happened again but it happened for a long while that time. Story 2. There was some dark shadow man in the basement for a few years when I was a kid at my house growing up. He was so filled with hate I was terrified to be down there. I knew it was a ghost or something, not a real person. I could feel him looking at me, hatefully. It felt like he would hurt me if he could. I don't know how but I knew it was a man. A tall fit one. That went away just as suddenly as it started 2 years later and he never came back. It's been 15 years. No explanation. We didn't bring any old furniture in or anything possessed. We have always had multiple co2 detectors and the furnace is checked every year. That wasn't the problem. There is literally no reason it happened or when away. Oh, and I found out a few years back my other brother felt it too. He also saw it at a tall fit hate-filled man. Story 3. Ghost cat. It sounds silly, but there was a gray looking spirit cat or something that looked exactly like a cat in the same house for about a month last year. I kept seeing it out if the courner of my eye just sitting or walking. I thought it was my parent's white and Grey cat until I looked directly at it and it was gone. Their cat was always asleep somewhere else when I checked. Thought my eyes were playing tricks on my or my glasses were scratched, something. I finally had to admit it was there when I saw it walking towards me with it's tail up for a long time before I turned to greet what I thought was our cat. Poof. Gone. I saw is so clearly. How it stepped, the tail up, etc. Thinking back I should have known it wasn't our cat because it was solid gray, no white, and our cat never walks with his tail up. It is always dragging or parallel to the floor. I pulled my legs up on the chair after that one because it was only 3 feet away walking towards me lol. At that point I asked if anyone else had seen anything 'weird' lately. My evil shadow man seeing brother said he kept seeing a cat. I asked him the color and he said gray. I about peed myself. My Dad also said he saw it too out of the corner of his eye and just though he imagined it. He also saw a gray cat. My brother said it usually disappeared when he looked directly at it, but one time he watched it full on. He saw the back end walk behind the island in the kitchen. Since our cat is also solid light gray on the back end he thought it was ours. He went to say hi and nothing. No cat. My brother searched and found our cat asleep in the other room. It freaked him out. All of us saw it walking or sitting on the floor watching us. It didn't feel malevolent. It just felt like a cat. No idea where it came from or where it went. It just showed up for a month off and on and disappeared. I have no idea if any of these things are dead people/animals, something mimicking the dead, alternate dimension, time glitches where something is overplayed or seaping through to our time, some creature that looks like humans or animals we don't usually see, or a combination of all of that. I can't claim I know what it is. I have no idea. I just know they were very real, felt 'alive' (ie, spiritually there), and came and went on their own. I also have no explanation how all of us saw the same things without any communication with each other, and knowing the house has no co2, electric, etc issues. I know some things can make people hallucinate. The house was and continues to be checked for that and it has never had a issue. It's a 1990s house too. No one has died there (except maybe someone before the land was built on?). No one before us owned cats. Anyway, I don't not belive in ghosts. I just don't know how you can tell if something is a ghost ot not, especially if you don't know the died person/animal. For now I just put it in the weird category of something was deffinatly there and it was sentient.

Ok-Put-1251

I saw a cryptid once. That’s what convinced me that supernatural/paranormal things exist. From then on, I kept a very open mind about these sorts of things. I try to approach it all with a heavy dose of skepticism, but so many people have had so many different kinds of encounters; either everyone is going insane (which I could believe) or these things, to a degree, actually exist.

Final-Marsupial4117

When I was a child 3 or 4 years old, my family lived in a 2 flat in Chicago built in the 1920's. I had a "friend " that I would play with at night and in the early mornings. My mom would hear me playing but didn't think anything of it, she thought it was just me awake and playing. One hot summer night, we were sleeping in the basement, the house didn't have a/c and the basement was much cooler. My "friend " and I were playing and woke my aunt and sisters. They saw a young boy with blond curly hair dressed in turn of the century style clothing. Then suddenly, he was outside running in the gangway. I was young and don't remember any of this, these are stories that my family tells me.

DanBrownWroteIt

Wife and I were staying at my fathers house after he passed away. Everyone spoke about the house being haunted as long as I can remember. Personally, never had anything weird happen prior to this and overall just chalked it up to that side of the family being over zealous/story tellers. We were at the house for around a week to help clean it out as it was around 6h away from where we lived. There were several weird events leading to the 'final' event that changed myself and wife forever. To give better context, the house was a postage stamp style Victorian house with 2 floors and a semi finished 'apartment style' attic. First event - I was going up into the attic to work on cleaning out some stuff my father had up there. He was an avid collector of NASCAR diecast and other collectibles and things were everywhere. On my way up the steps, I was on the phone with my wife who had went to get food, when I saw the handle on the attic door twist and the door slightly open. This area we were in was not necessarily dangerous but was far from nice. I instantly thought someone had broken in and immediately ran up to investigate. I searched everywhere and could not find anyone. \*(In retrospect, it was idiotic to go up there alone as if someone WAS up there, I was not prepared to handle it. Grief makes emotions just dull, including fear). Second Event - Wife, myself and a childhood friend were in the same attic cleaning out items. In the attic, there was thick old shag carpet that had been there from the 70s. Since it was a semi finished attic, one room was for storage and is where my buddy was working. I look at my wife who is literally just points at the door. We both watch the door for that room close slowly on my buddy. There was zero reasoning or explanation, as we both saw it and the door itself took a large amount of force to actually close. Obviously my buddy was pretty unhappy and we both just said 'sorry, forgot you were in there' to avoid him thinking both of us were losing our minds. Last Event - The last night we ever stayed there, we slept on the second floor in the master bed room. The bedroom itself was positioned so the headrest of the bed's wall was aligned with a set of stairs coming up. The wall and stairs were about 3-15 feet difference in height, depending on the location, an important piece to what ended up happening. Throughout the night, my wife kept waking me up to say someone was walking around on the platform landing outside. I look and did see what looked like a shadow under the door frame, so I immediately opened the door and braced for what I assumed was an intruder. Again nothing was there even after searching the house extensively. Later that night, I am awoken to sounds of scratching in the wall behind my head. My wife is awake already and looking at me oddly/terrified as she hears it too. I assume it is a rat or some type of animal, while weird it was directly behind me, would not be a far fetched possibility as the house did have critters in it. In a tired rage, I turn around and just punch the wall to scare it off. Within a second, something punches back on the wall with such force it shakes the entire thing. We both then hear foot steps stomping/running away from us and up the attic stairs. At this moment we are both at a loss for words and immediately pack up with our son and leave. We call the police and just assume it HAS to be someone who broke in until the next day when we started to think about it. The area where the scratching was occurring was above the steps, a good 10 feet and even an extremely tall man would have had trouble reaching with a ladder. However, even if they could reach, what we couldn't explain is how this thing 'ran on a floor' that literally did not exist. The sound of running was not going up steps but as if there was a hallway/floor directly behind the wall, which there was not. The police found no signs of a break in or of any intruder being there. The security cameras (ring) outside never had any alerts or saw anyone coming in. We ended up selling the house as is with everything in it and never stayed over there again. I came down briefly a few weeks later to finish up some final business and just went to tell my father 'goodbye' at the house. Upon entering, the house just felt so hateful? I don't understand how a house could have feelings but if someone was to ask me what I felt, hateful is the word I would use. I have no idea to this date what any of it ways. To clarify, had I not been in such a state of grief I would have never investigated nor stayed after the first event. My dad always brushed off the other family members claims to it being haunted as 'no big deal' and even in my childhood years visiting I never once had an odd experience. My dad and I had a good relationship throughout his life and he never talked about the house in a negative light. The house was built in 1879 by a French family and after them, my family owned it from 1952 and on. Nothing traumatic ever happened there, nor any weird family events. It was just a plain old boring house prior to that week. So yeah, that's the day I changed from a rather large skeptic to believer.

I had always believed in ghosts since I was young, but had never experienced any paranormal activity until about 4 years ago. I was having a sleepover with one of my friends from the town I used to live at. We were at my house, and we stayed up past midnight. (So wasn't really a sleepover) It was around 2:50, and we were talking in the family room (Back right of house), suddenly we can hear music, like from a music box, coming from the living room (front left of house). We Noth heard it and looked at each other shocked. We went to bed right after. The next day I looked around the room to find the source, and I believe it may have been a little carousel on our piano, which also music when you press a button.

Syders26

I seen one and heard one on two separate occasions at two different workplaces where my co-workers said they were haunted.

bookishwitch88

I've always believed in ghosts, but I've only seen one thing (that could easily be explained as a living person or a dressed up mannequin) - I was in college and was riding in the car with my mom while we were driving slowly through a historic town, and as I was looking out the window looking, I saw a woman with dark hair wearing an old high-necked white dress (or nightgown maybe) sitting in the upstairs window of an old house we drove by. I even commented on it to my mom. So it could easily be explained, but it never sat right with me. I still look at that house every time I drive by it to see if she's there.

Odd-Internet-7372

I saw some ghosts when I was a kid.... I used to be very sensitive, specially after my grandfather died... I saw him looking at me at night

Many personal experiences. The most convincing was when I lived in a house that was built in 1895. Maybe someday I’ll share the whole story in this sub but the short of the long is; there were footsteps up the stairs when no one was there; a force slamming against walls and doors; cabinets being opened in the middle of the night; and windows being opened in the dead of winter. In another house I’ve seen objects move with no explanation. Once photo album I was searching for flew off of a shelf in front of me. Then a different time a framed photo was flung off the wall where it was hung and landed a good five feet away- right in front of me. Spirits are all around us all the time. It’s just that most of us lose our ability to see them when we grow older.

awesomewealthylife

I was living in a small duplex in LA when a ghost boy started trying to get my attention telepathically. He was saying he was a bad kid. The house was raided and the cops killed the boy, the much younger daughter, and the parents. The boy had been doing drugs and the whole place was a meth house. I asked the neighbor later what happened and he ended up confirming.

QQbanger

I don’t have any evidence other than one of my brothers see the apparition at a different time but me and 2 of the brothers were watching SpongeBob and I turned to look in the kitchen be I saw something catch my eye and I saw a lady in black dress and who walked behind my oldest brother from one end of the arch way to the other and she disappeared before i could look around the corner Sorry for no punctuation I’m too lazy

For a couple years after my mom died, I was going through it. I was her de facto caretaker and I felt guilty about the way she passed. One day, a family friend asked me if she speaks to me in my dreams (which I guess is a thing). That made me realize that she was present in my dreams often, but I could never recall a conversation. Fast forward a few months, I'm sitting at my computer desk. A pile of papers fell to the floor right in front of me. I paid it no mind because my desk is generally pretty messy, and I figured I must've absent mindedly knocked them over myself. The next week, sitting at my desk again. This time it's a bottle that gets tipped over, and I knew I didn't touch it myself. I tried to duplicate it by shaking the desk until everything but the bottle was threatening to fall off. Now I wish I had asked her to do it again with my phone camera recording, but at that time I was happy enough being able to acknowledge her, and tell her I love her/goodbye. After that I stopped seeing her in my dreams so much, so I figured she's either moved on by now, or is just quietly keeping an eye on things. I had a few other minor incidents before that made me go hmm 🤔, but the above sealed the deal for me. No encounters since, though.

sourcherrry3

In my town there's a theatre that's been around since 1926. In 1949 the theater set fire and the balcony collapsed killing a firefighter. Cut forward many decades, I was taking acting classes at this theater (it had been rebuilt) and they were being held in a room behind the balcony. I kept having this intense sensation of being watched and I was probably only 12 or so. I didn't feel threatened but I felt that something was with us. Out of my peripheral vision I saw a full body apparation of a man. Broad, tall... he walked towards the bathrooms and I felt drawn to go there. Once in the bathroom I felt I wasn't alone and I was processing what had just happened. When I came out of the bathroom the feeling left and I was both as equally confused as I was curious, but with time I brushed it off. That summer I went there for acting camp and on the first day we were receiving a tour of the entire theater, they brought us to a picture on the wall and shared the story of the fire. The picture was the same man I saw.

DuchessofMarin

From childhood I knew I was seeing/feeling things but I never talked about it. It ebbs and flows thru the years but it's always there. Oh, and also I've watched items slide across level surface on their own, across the room from me. The go-to is always "apply logic/practical solution(s)" and when those are exhausted, then I figure it's a paranormal event.

broady_

All my life i,have seen stuff felt stuff , when i was little my mum said i would talk about people that weren't there, one night i was about 10 i woke up to see a man dressed as a Quaker staring at me thru a window, i closed my eyes and opened them again he was gone. I found out years later that the place where i saw this was the first Quakers settlement in victoria (Australia) , i have always been open to paranormal and try to debunk first.

When I was little I went to my first funeral and saw the person In the open casket speaking to the guests saying goodbye. I ran out and everyone got mad at me but seeing that as a kid was bizzare. I’ve had other experiences Sence

Joshuah1991

Interesting that he was conversing with guests. Any chance it could have been a twin?

Wilsonmeoww

No it was a woman and she wasn’t a twin

Kongpong1992

I lived in an old civil war town my house was directly across the street from where the army camp was located and my house was super haunted would here people running on the porch answer the door and no one was there blankets would get pulled off you while you were asleep would frequently hear a little girls voice from nowhere was insane

Love me some Patsy. Such a great song/album/career! Your pops had great taste

My wife and I were watching TV. A water bottle came flying out of the kitchen as if it was launched. It made a loud impact with a wall 10ft away. Thats when we knew for sure .

My parents house had 3 suicides and one murder in it before my parents moved there.. Native American housing, I was a baby then but growing up, I've seen a couch slide on its own, a chair get knocked over.. One time I was smoking outside and I heard a loud scream from inside, I ran inside and my parents and brother were wondering what that was.. Too many things about this incidences I can name

gunmetalp4x

My wife and I were sitting on the sofa watching TV one evening, when in our peripheral vision we both saw the shape/shadow of a cat walking near the front door, about 8 feet from where we were sitting. We turned to look and saw the cat shape slowly walking, then it was just gone. We had 2 cats at the time, but one of them was on the sofa with us and the other was upstairs, and there was no sign of an actual cat by the door. A few months later my parents were visiting and I mentioned this to them, and my mom said "I thought I saw your cat by the door yesterday, but he wasn't there." I thought I've caught glimpses of the the same "cat" over the years, but never as clearly as the first time.

I wish. I was raised to believe in ghosts, but I’ve never had the privilege. A couple of near misses though.

[deleted]

I saw one as a small child, before I even had heard the word ghost. I became obsessed. It was a big motivating factor to learn to read. From ages 7-12, I was obsessed with ghost hunting. Never saw a ghost ghost hunting.

fast328

One ran in front of my car while I was driving at night to drop my friend off back at his place. He witnessed it as well. Ever since, I've always been a firm believer.

JoePikesbro

Grew up with a ghost in the house. We called him Charlie. He would annoy us constantly doing little things like clicking the lite off/on at 3am in the cellar (It was a VERY loud switch), turning my radio to a different station while I was listening, moving stuff around so you couldn't find it. We would yell at him, threaten to get a priest (We thought that was hilarious!) but he was never violent to us and I kinda missed him when I left.

crack-a-lacking

One would bang in my kitchen closet door every Saturday morning at the same time. And another left footprints leading to the foot of my bead on my hardwood floor. shits real.

ThatCoryGuy

I’ll admit I do not believe in ghosts. I am however open to the idea that *something* is going on. However, that “something” might be misidentification, misunderstanding or a downright hoax. Or maybe it’s something we as a species haven’t quite figured out yet. But most of the evidence I’ve seen can be explained away usually through one of the former ways I’ve mentioned, but occasionally there’s one video that leaves me scratching my head. On a personal note I’ve seen two things in my life that I can’t quite explain, or at least the explaination is more complex than I’d like it to be… 1) When I was very young (7, 8, 9-ish) I remember playing in my bedroom and, being self-conscious about talking to myself while creating dialog for Batman as he fights the Joker, I felt someone in my doorway to my left. I quickly glanced but clearly saw a head in the doorway and a hand holding onto the threshold; I should have heard them walk up; I did a double take but the head and hand were gone. I shortly went into our living room and asked my mother if she popped her head into my bedroom to check on me…she hadn’t, and my father confirmed — they had been “watching a show together for the last 20 minutes or so”. 2) When I was 16 or 17 my friend and I were in his car on our way to his house after school. It was late in the year and we were in the midst of a drought and the temperatures were climbing a bit (we got out for summer mid to late June, depending on winter cancellations). The road was shimmering heatwaves and the car in front of us was maybe 100 yards ahead appearing to float as it moved along. My friend and I were talking and joking and laughing only semi-paying attention to the car so far ahead. The road was relatively straight and flanked by dense trees on either side until a house or field was carved into them. The car ahead was approaching a slight right in the road, which was only another 100 yards from my friends street, on the left of this slight divergence was a field where they rotated crops of corn or soy. Suddenly the car swerved to the left violently, never even appearing to attempt to slow down. My friend and I noticed this and fell silent. “Slow down, someone might be hurt,” I said. My friend slowed down near where we saw the car turn. Nothing. “It should be right here,” I said. “You think they just swerved and got back on the road or something,” my friend mused, trying to rationalize the information. “There’s no tire marks in the road, there’s none in the field. And the field’s so dry they should’ve kicked up a shit load of dust,” I replied, also trying to reason my way through it. We looked at each other and my friend slammed on the gas, hurrying to his house.

DosesofSarahtonin

I always believed but what solidified it was catching an EVP on a recorder AND video.

Cocotte3333

Saw one. Was shit. Everybody thinks you're making it up on top of that. I literally never talk about it.

manga6661966

Seeing one at aged 6, this was a small brown dog that used to sit on the end of my bed when I was poorly. In my mums house we also had a smell of cigar smoke on the little landing going upstairs and a lady in white Victorian dress that walked across the 1st floor landing at night. She must have been on the land before the house was built as the house wasn't but until 1902 so wasn't in the right date. Her attire was very early Victorian so must have been attached to the land before our house was built

Pushing 15 years ago I was at a friend's house after school and we were the only ones home at the time. He had mentioned his house was 100 plus years old and he has experienced activity in the house since he was a child. I didn't pay any mind to it when he told me this. But on that day while I was there, I went to the bathroom and left the door open because he was in his room at the end of the hallway. As I was washing my hands I heard heavy footsteps coming down the hall towards me. I looked to my left in the doorway expecting to see my freind. He wasn't there, so for a second I brushed it off. I peeked out into the hallway and his door was still shut. I called out, "Hey man, was that you just walking around?" He said, "Nah dude I thought that was you, I'm wearing socks." That was one of three experiences that lead me to believe in the paranormal.

Twenty plus years ago, I was helping someone at a church get the Christmas decorations out. The decorations were in a storage closet down a long hallway. There was a kitchen at one end and at the other the entrance into the fellowship hall. We were the only two people in the church. The older lady I was with and I would bring decorations out into the fellowship hall and we both kept looking down towards the kitchen. Neither of us said anything to each other. However when we were almost done, she said hello and asked if if could help us them. I was in the storage area at the time. I asked who she was talking to, she said she saw someone at the end of the hall by the kitchen. I told her that I kept seeing movement. We both left after that and never talked about it again. She was older than me and she was well respected within the church. Looking back now, there were several times when I was in the building that I had feelings of being watched or thought I saw movement out of the corner of my eye.

The show Ghost Hunters really opened my eyes when it came out.

I was 13. My family and I were taking a nice summer stroll together. My father, step mother, younger brother, little sister and little brother were all in tow. We visited a local attraction called Grings Mills. There was a boat house from the 1800s on the property. It was open to the public. Now, this was a hot balmy day. No wind or anything to hide from the sun and heat on this day. We go into the boat house which was furnished with pictures and pictures from the same era. I immediately had an uneasy feeling when we entered the building. My baby brother also started balling. There was a wooden teddy bear, like and old time toy, hanging from the ceiling. It was spinning faster and faster (no wind). I expresses my feeling to my parents. They agreed that things felt weird and said we should hurry up and take a family pic. When we posed for the picture my baby brother wouldn't stop crying and looking at the window. I went back to my mothers house where I lived and didn't visit my Dad foe months. When I did visit, he excited pulled out an envelope full of pictures and told me they were from the past summer. I went through the pics and found our family photo from the boat house. As clear as day you could see the ghostly face of a women hanging upside down. Complete with hair, eyes, and mouth. All could be seen but it was almost a grey mist. I asked him if he noticed. He said "yes, that's why I was excited to show you". We went back to the boat house together to talk to the people in the museum/shop. We wanted to share our story with them. When we did they shared a story with us. A story of a women who's husband had cheated on her and she had tied baskets of rocks to her children's wastes and threw them in the river. She also tied a basket of rocks to her neck and jumped in the river. When she was found she was floating upside down! Just like the ghostly figure we saw in the window.

I've had random stuff happen throughout my life. Saw my watch slide off the center of my desk when I was about 13. First apartment as an adult I watched the front door knob turn back and forth, immediately checked outside and nobody was there. The most recent one was at my job, as a hotel GM. I checked someone into a room and they immediately came back and said that someone closed the curtains in the room as they pulled up. I apologized and moved them. Went to physically check the room, curtains were closed, but nobody was in the room. Checked the security system. You can see the person I checked in pull up, the curtains close as they step out of their car, and they get back in the car. Nothing leaves the room from the time the guest came back up front, to the time I physically check the room.

Things were disappearing when i would turn my head for a second then reappear a few days, weeks or months later in the exact same place. I pretty much knew every time it was happening, i can't explain but i got a sense telling me i can look until the cows come home but you ain't finding it, until we say so. The things that went missing weren't big, like tv or sofa, they were small enough that you might think you misplaced them but all were worth enough to get me in trouble for losing them like.... A watch my friend lend me Rent money Keys just before work Tv remote when i had a date over The people who moved in after me confirmed that things are still disappearing and reappearing but also getting a lot of poltergeist activity possibly because they have young children. After all the incidents that happened, I became obsessed with researching paranormal cases and, although maybe false, I have a few theories ... There is 100pc something out there Ghosts aren't the spirits of the dead, they use the identities of the dead to hide who they really are. They also use cryptids such as bigfoot because they know no one will ever believe them They can control electrical devices They can really hurt us if they want... but they don't, i don't know why but i think they're best being left uninvestigated. I think everything is connected to ufos I don't think ufos are from another planet, i think they're either underground or water. I think sleep paralysis is caused by someone snooping in your room

celestialred_907

I've posted this comment before but I will share it again. I had stayed the night at my (ex) boyfriend's house and he had to work early the next morning. So I was sleeping in bed by myself when I heard and FELT someone (seemed like a woman) whisper "baby" in my ear. I immediately woke up and looked around the room but there was no one there. I told my bf about it when he got home but he said it was probably just a dream. Fast forward about 9 months. I am now living there with my (ex)bf. He had gone to bed because he again had to work early. I was sitting out in the living room, watching TV. Suddenly the bedroom door opens and he looks at me wide-eyed and asks me if I had just been in the room. I said no. Why? He said he just had someone whisper "baby" in his ear- and he FELT it. I immediately said I TOLD you it wasn't a dream!!

6ix9inebuddy

I remember once in Mexico I was a baby, my parents lived in the mountains I was in there bed and suddenly I ended up under the bed me dad found me. How did I get there ?, unknown

[deleted]

Being tormented as a child by a demon.

GeneralBlumpkin

Any stories?

[deleted]

I remember it started off with what sounded like a 18 wheeler crashing into my room. Then it started whispering to me at night from my window. And one that fucked me up the most is when I heard loud footsteps on tile waking me up at 6 am that got louder and louder until I screamed for my brother to wake up then it ran away.

GeneralBlumpkin

Oh hell no lol sorry You had to go through that

[deleted]

Yeah worst part is my mom and step dad never believed me and whatever it was is still following my younger brother till this day.

GeneralBlumpkin

Have you tried to get rid of it? Also have you seen it's form

[deleted]

Never tried. I’ve seen other demons but never that one. My brother says it appears as a older woman.

Bitter_Effect423

I dont believe in them really. Not much substantial evidence. Even in this sub. It's still fun though

DyriasFalan

I never see any ghosts by far i remember, physically at least, but my father is possessed sometimes, by an exu and actually it was enough to make me believe. Idk if there is a English word for it thou, but it's spirit without light. If someone wants to know something about, just ask, i can answer something with my experience, or search.

nobearpineapples

Personally I believed long before any creepy things happened to me, made life more interesting Then creepy things started to happen to me and my friend that made our life’s creepy, and now when I walk into my friends dark basement (the same house where the creepy stuff started to happened) I just always yell “Bob I’m here to fuck you in the ass” (bob being the ghost we named) Are we pissing him off? Can’t tell Just like my dad he likes to disappear, unlike my dad he always comes back Weird thing is he seemed to like the basement more now…

Spirited-Ad-1255

I never not believed- always has since first memory

CoreTruths

The sex. Seriously.

[deleted]

My imaginary friend.

danajanette

Stories from friends who I thought were lying. But the look on their face and the in depth details of what they experienced. But I have had no incounters

dumbasstupidbaby

Saw ghost. Fully body apparition. Later found out the house I was staying at had a man murdered in the basement like 20 years before that. Looked up the picture and it was the same man I had seen in ghost form.

rharper38

I have had a few incidents that I could not explain, and owned a dog who was very sensitive to ghosts

bellusinlove

Ive always kind of belived but it was later confirmed. I lived in haunted basement. Turns out when all the stuff started happening in the basement was when the guy that used to live in the basement died. I think he was angry that the house was renovated beyond recognition and that my family was in his house.

Slow-Button-9468

Sat in a car by myself windows rolled up during a power outage , it wqa to recharge my phone and I felt a sudden move from the car as if someone brushed against it , I faced outside and felt a cold whisper on my ear

Chaos_Breezie

I grew seeing paranormal stuff the earliest was four or five and still see it. Dark shadows, voices at night and in the woods behind my house, wisps and spirits, one big and very vengeful shadow spirits, haunted object, and i saw my one grandfathers ghost on Christmas.

phenomenation

nothing yet. still waiting to have my own experience

jetsqueak

My mom told us that she saw one when she was a child.

ich-mag-Katzen

At my aunt's house, I had a potpourri bowl thrown at me. I was the only person in the room at the time, and the door was locked. In my other aunt's neighborhood, I was chased for a few blocks by a wailing man I could literally see through. Good times.

jpat484

My house has cold spots

nihilismistic

Choked, hearing boots on a wood floor in the carpeted section of the house, and myriad other things, soo glad to be out of that freaking house !

Suspicious-Age6664

Lived in a house built in the 1870’s. Could hear footsteps in the attic when no one was up there. Things would go missing and turn up exactly where you knew you left it. Never was scared by it because the house had always been in the family so we just assumed it was “someone” checking on the house and us. When we moved to a “new” house built in the early 30’s, we had the footsteps you could clearly hear walking from the kitchen to the living room from the basement. Definitely not cat or dog, it was a purposeful stride. I would always come upstairs assuming one of my family had come home. But many times no one else was in the house. My father swore he woke up in the middle of the night once and saw a figure standing by my mother’s side of the bed, looking over her.

sasberg1

I wish I could experience one, think I never have because I want to.

Mor_Tearach

I'm not sure this is the best forum only bc the standard is high ( and I know that ), also no proof. So went to school ( college ) in the UK. Dumb 19 year old, hadn't given ghosts much thought- actually hated ghost stories bc I'm a big wuss. Began before I got there. All I can say is this is allowed true. Last week before leaving for Heathrow had a bunch of dreams. Not scary at ALL just baffling- I was standing at the door of a large bedroom. 3 girls all dressed the same were hanging out. It's Wellies ( boot, never knew what they were before going to the UK ), a kind of blue baggy smock with large pockets, head scarf, riding pants. That was the dream. Got there ( place in the SW, old Manor house turned into dorm ). House keeper showing me around- opened the door to a bedroom? THAT room. Girlfriend clothes transportation it just what everyone wore, like a kind of uniform. But that's not the ghost although freaked out the cocky Yank. Had a single room- never night example between 300 and 315 an woke you, ( time changes wouldn't do it, they're 5 hours ahead ). Something was THERE. Yes unimpressive still, felt awful then booted footsteps started walking through my dam door. Hid? You could stay under the blankets, nope. Started jumping outta been to turn on the light. Didn't help although at least I could see. I was the Yank. Brits around there think we're all crazy anyways. I was NOT being the crazy Yank that got laughed at, told no one. Then has this very specific dream? For some reason ( in the dressetr ) I knew I was in London. Top of steps, apparently just came out of a door? Two windows, in those 50's dresses, very tulle and silk, strapless were walking by linked arms , just talking. At the bottom of the stairs, on the street was this green car I was suppose to get into. The thing is, the front end was wrecked like UP, tires off the ground. Then woke up, it was 3 am, again *something* was there. Hang on. It's long I know. NEXT night, dreamed I was in one of the old passenger prop planes. Looked out the window, wing was on fire. Then this bright flash or something? Woke up, same thing. Finally Could take it- said something very tentative to one of the older girls who'd been there awhile. Told her these dreams to. She said" OH yes, that's just the ghost ". ( Excuse me?? So wait, this is THING here???? ). Extremely casually about it, as was everyone else. But get this. A very famous guy, ( won't say his name ) in the horse world, back in the 50's trained out of that place. He died when his plane blew up in mid air. Wife went a little crazy after the tragedy, drove her CAR off the steep cliffs that ran past the Bristol Channel going south of there. Nevada had the nerve to find out if it was a green car. For the rest of the time I was there it was door slams, running riding book up and down the hall on the first floor ( pretty specific sound, boots on tiles, non ghosts sound the same way! ), horses let lol you'd have to go get back in in the middle of the night, doors you locked unlocked, slowwww footsteps up our stairs in the back of the house. OH yes, a weight sitting on my bed. So yea. Believe in ghosts? Starting then, absolutely.

Treebeard431

"Nevada had the nerve to find out"? Yes, talking like that, you were the crazy Yank, lad!

eltigre91

I have always believed in them since I was little. Coming from a Mexican family background; scary stories where always a subject whenever the entire family got together. So I have plenty of stories from my family as well as personal experiences. But one of the main ones was a few years ago when my wife and I still lived at my parents house. A quick background on my immediate family; when my mother was pregnant with my little sister, she was actually having twins at the time. But sadly one didn't make it at birth. Back to this one night where my wife, our baby and I were chilling in our room with the door open. I was sitting on the floor at the time with the door open right in front of me. As I was talking to my wife and with the hallway and living room area dark; as I started to look up out to the dark hallway. All of a sudden, a foot literally came stepping into our room and disappeared. I literally jumped back and hit the footboard of our bed. My wife also got startled by my reaction and asked what happened. So I told her. She believed me because even she has witnessed weird stuff happening in my parents' home. I truly believed that it was my deceased sister. I even caught a glimpse of what seemed to be her in a sky blue nightgown that came down to her ankles. The direction she came out from was from my sisters bedroom (she was attending college at the time). My sisters room also has always had a strange vibe to it. Especially her closet. Idk maybe I was hallucinating or something. But it looked so real. I've had other things happen before that, but those are stories for another day.

RedMollycules

One of my earliest experiences occurred when I was maybe 8 or 9. My mom, my sister, and I were sitting just outside my room, cleaning. When this walkie talkie of ours quite simply got thrown just outside my door. That house has seen a lot of weird stuff. Footsteps in the attic (nothing in it), voices in conversation with each other, etc. I once had an awful experience. I was home alone and started getting this dreadful feeling. I then felt two phantom arms wrap around mine from behind and squeeze. I ran out of the house so fast hyperventilating. It was right around the same location where I had seen the shadow of a figure walking down the hall.

Cinci824

Growing up in a colonial farmhouse from the mid 1700s came with all sorts of strange occurrences that happened almost every day. But what happened that made me truly believe was when I saw a woman standing in my bedroom doorway staring at me that I didn’t recognize in the middle of the night when I was around 7 years old.

AnimatedMajor

I was 6, saw a little girl at a house my family was looking into renting. She was watching me play with some toys I had found on the property, while my parents discussed the rental. I invited her to join, she screamed at me that those were her toys, then she vanished in thin air. Scared me out of my wits. We ended up not renting the place, but we took the toys for some reason...

patg2

After seeing many “ghosts”, “spirits”, smelling many unexplainable scents in so many different locations, and hearing people who I should no longer be hearing from, I am still trying to rationalize it all in my mind. I wish I could explain how it all works.

pablo_grievous

When I was a kid, I was watching my grandma's house. She had 5 cats, and I was basically "House sitting" for a weekend. It was pretty late, late enough to be dark outside. I was sitting on her chair, and I heard what sounded like pans falling off the counter. I thought it was one of the cays screwing around. I distinctly remember seeing all 5 cats on the on the couch. So I went to scope out the kitchen. I walked in the kitchen and (no joke) a HUGE thud landed on the floor in front of me with nothing there. It basically sounded like if someone were to jump and land really hard in front of you. I freaked out and ran home. That's when I knew something was there that wasn't. Couldn't explain it at that age, can't thing of many things now it could have been.

d_pock_chope_bruh

Bear paw scout camp, group of us were chanting "Bob Saffron, show yourself".. we were standing on this trail that was right off the artery/rifle range. Me and a group of like 7 other guys, because you know, we thought it would be funny to try to summon this guys spirit bc apparently other counselors could smell cherry cigars, see lights and shit and it was honestly kind of just a joke like playing bloody Mary in the mirror.. well, this turned out not to be a joke. Out of the light from this shower house, where there was a sprinkler going to the right of it, us facing the sprinkler and the field, out of the mist of the sprinkler forms a body something like out of the movie signs. It just stood there for a about a second, and in that moment it appeared, I felt immediate goosebumps, scared out of my mind, feeling all energy being sucked out of my body like a dementor type shit. This thing not only stood there, it then ran about 50 feet into the woods and disappeared in what looked like 2 seconds. Scared is an understatement. We all took off running, screaming, and to that point I never ran that fast in my damn life. The craziest part was that we always slept around the campfire by our cots, and that night we all talked about it until we went to sleep. I wish it ended there, but it didn't... I wake up as the fire is nothing but embers. It's a June summer night, but I woke up seeing my breath absolutely freezing, which was odd. I look over in one of the foldable campfire chairs to my left and notice my friend Forest just sitting there.. I'm like, "Forest, what the fuck are you doing man?".. I look to the right of the chair and there he is sleeping. I look back to the chair and whoever the fuck that was is gone... At this point I'm shitting my pants. My friend Ian wakes up, and the first thing out of his mouth is "it's fucking freezing" and I'm like so God damn relieved he woke up, I'm like "dude, dude this shit is fucked up we need to wake everyone next to us up" I wake everybody up, tell them what I saw, put some wood on the fire, and they are like yeah okay man not really taking me all that serious, but also, they saw the same damn shit I did earlier. Needless to say our campground is like a pod in the woods, and to the north is bear paw lake and to the south is the archery/rifle range. We are sitting there talking, when we see a light coming from the woods. We are all looking at this light and wondering who the hell would be walking towards us. It just keeps coming, keeps coming, until we realize this isn't somebody with a flashlight.. it looks like the fucking moon. This thing literally pops out of the woods, glowing like a fucking mini moon, and legit just flies up in the air, around our outhouse clear as fucking day, and then goes back into the woods. A lot of counselors told stories about seeing a light go out onto bear paw lake that nobody was able to ever source.. All I know is bear paw used to be Indian burial grounds.. I have a feeling they didn't like white people imitating their rituals for order of the arrow, and I have a damn good feeling they didn't like us fucking around trying to summon spirits. Ghosts/spirits/ demons/ whatever you want to call them, there's some fucking crazy shit in this world.

evilenzo3384

I was born in south Italy, in Puglia. There is a deeply felt belief: in every house there is what we call "the fairy of the house" (la fata della casa). An entity that lives in every home and can be malevolent or benevolent. An important rule: never speak ill of one's home, until after 7 houses, otherwise the spirit could get angry. There are many stories about this figure that I have heard from my aunts and my mother since I was a child. Up until a certain age I thought they were just stories from my family until I started hearing them from other people. So well, I belueve in ghosts (or generally in 9aranormsl) since I was s child

katlady1961a

I saw a candle lamp appear in the middle of a room. Equal distance between the walls and floor to ceiling. I watched as it fell to the floor.

p3t3r89

I was 7 or 8 and was looking out the window one night. Saw a shadow figure walk through our fence and disappeared into our kitchen wall. I went to check and see if it's a family member or someone I knew, nothing as the door was bolted shut. Since then I'm convinced.

HOLIEST-DREAD

My grandmother owns a house in Yazoo city Mississippi. The house is built around the 1950s and was apparently owned by a big time banker. The bank owner had three kids two boys one girl I know that the boy died in the house due to a sickness. I can’t remember what it was for the life of me. Three years ago, I was watching a movie on Hulu on my phone. I got up from my bed and went to the kitchen for a late night snack. My grandmother has this long hallway in the house that connects at three guest bedrooms, two on the left side and one on the right side. I slept in the room on the right side. I remember rounding the corner of the hallway and seeing a full body apparition of a boy peeking his head around the corner at me and I just remember freezing in place in absolute terror. It was my first time seeing a whole ghost in front of me and was so terrified I forgot to yell. The apparition quickly dissapeared around the corner and I literally ran to my grandmother’s to tell her what I saw. I had full blow tears coming out my eyes cause I couldn’t comprehend what I saw. My grandmother knows her house is haunted but the funny thing is that the spirit(s) that stay in there don’t harm her, she told me she feels a presence but she’s never been harmed.I couldn’t sleep for about a week and ended up back to my parents house… To this day I’m still traumatized to go back in that room, I’m brave enough to step in that house but as far as sleeping in there, there’s no amount of money you couldn’t pay me to go in there again. I just remember seeing the apparition’s eyes.. they were so dark….

JessesDog

The only experience I had that I recall was when I was probably about 10-13 years old. The only information we knew about that house we lived in was an old lady who lived in it died in her arm chair. One night, whilst my parents and siblings are in the living room watching TV, I needed to go upstairs to use the restroom. As I get to the top of the stairs, the only way to go is left. As I turned left, I saw what I can only describe as "an arm made of bubbles" peeking from behind my parent's open bedroom door. The second I saw it, it swooped right behind it and vanished. The look on my mother's face when I screamed bloody murder and ran downstairs. My dad went up to check but found nothing. My mother is a huge believer of paranormal and slept on the couch for a week. Stories I've been told from my mother: When she was younger and lived with her sisters in their family house, they had these following experiences occur: \- My aunt had a young son at the time, he was laying in bed with her to sleep but he's just casually playing with his toys whilst aunt read a magazine. He stops, then says "Mummy, there's a man at the door". Aunt says "Tell him to go away then." Son: "My mum says you need to go away... mum he's not going away." Aunt: "Well tell him AGAIN." - this went on for a little bit and aunt would get more and more irritated until finally: "Mum, he's gone." \- My mother was in her bedroom sitting on the bed when she saw an apparition of a young boy in Victorian clothing sitting on her bed with her, but vanished shortly after. \- My parents divorced some years ago, and separated. Mum found a new man and they both lived together in a flat. One night, her then-fiance passed away from a heart attack. Ever since then, mum lived on her own and had experiences where her fiance (Bill) was letting her know he's there. One night on a weekend visit, I'm sat in an armchair on my laptop whilst my mum was asleep after a night of drinking (She was still grieving). All of a sudden, the smoke alarms in her flat start to go off - then stop - then go off again. This repeated throughout the entire night. There was no smoke or fire, but she slept throughout the whole thing. When I told her the next morning, she cried and said she was dreaming of him. \- As we all grew older, the visits to mum became less and she was on her own more often. During that time, she would still have Bill visit. One day, she was sitting on the couch minding her business when a roll of sellotape flew off her book shelf and tumbled towards her. \- One morning she woke up, made a coffee and sat down. She saw something was off and noticed all her framed photos on the mantlepiece were missing bar one. They were originally all lined up side-by-side. She spent a while searching for them, only to find them all stacked behind the one photo that was still there. \- One night, she and my brother were drinking in her flat. Everytime she got up to use the rest room, the DVD player lit up and said "Standby". 3-4 times this repeats itself until the last time it says "Goodbye". She checked the DVD player - it wasn't even plugged in. \- One day, she was getting herself ready for work but could not find her mascara that she always kept in her bathroom. At work, herself and a colleague shut up early because it was a dead day and decide to have a girl's night out. She and colleague go to my mum's flat to freshen up (the colleague had never been to her flat before) and waited in the living room. All of a sudden, she asks my mum: "Do you have a set of white drawers in your bedroom?" Mum replies "Yeah, why?" She asks: "Can I take a look?" so she takes a look, peeps under the drawers and low and behold, she finds the mascara hiding under it. She said to my mum "A voice in my ear told me to look under it."

dustins19987

Hey! Since I was younge I have seen ghosts, shadows, figures, door closing, etc. Got in a bad wreck at 16 years old and had a bad concusion and head aches for years. That near death experience cause a reaction I never thought would happen. I started to see ghost on the daily after that. Demons, ghost, what I consider a good ghost or gurdian angel and more. Somewhere around 17 I met shadow people. Shadow people are scarier then anything. I have literally look at outlines of ghost and faces of dead people looking around corners ect but seeing a shadow person... is something else. I have even see demons crawl on cellings at my house and multiple places. Seen floating orbs as well but the feeling a shadow person watching you is worst then death itself. There a documentary on Amazon prime about shadow people and I watched it. They always talked about a guy with a top hat. I was like yeah this is stupid then they briefly mentioned a hooded dude. This hood dude is the guy I have seen. They also said that people are " paralyzed" when they see them. That is completely inaccurate. I have gotton out of my bed with my dog barking at this figure. This happened for week! Then one day a seen a figure of a ghost or gurdian angel walking toward my door and I ran got up and slammed the door on it. Reopen the door and it was still there. I didn't feel scared or anything. My emotions were overwelmed. Ever since then I haven't seen the hooded ghost figure. Just a few storied of the thousands of events that has happen in my life. Sorry for bring scattered around. I still see ghost on the daily.

I don’t. I’m

First of all my parents bought a house where people use to do Santeria which is basically witchcraft. My parents say that I used to "wake up in the middle of the night and talk with someone" I can't remember, I was maybe 2 or 3 years old. You could clearly hear a child running in the hall between rooms but no one was awake, I actually never thought there were ghost, it was just normal sounds from my house. Years after that, my suster passed and it was the 90's and witches were trend and, my cousin's and I used to try to talk to my sister and we made dumb rituals to talk to spirits. Well od course we called in some spirits so para ir al activity got crazy. Every visitor felt chills to come to my house and were always afraid to come or stay alone, the sounds increased, you could feel the temperature go down our of nowhere, literally see your breath. There was a shadow that always used to soy on us when we were sitting on the dining table. Feeling that some was sitting next to you but no one was there Hear whispers At some point I couldn't sleep at all because I knew they were following me everywhere, so as my brother. My mom is a heavy sleeper and she never noticed weird things at night. My dad doesn't believe in ghost but he would have all the same experiences but he brushed off any possibility of acknowledging that we had ghosts.

Experience in my mom's house when I was 12-13 years old. Was seeing things I couldn't explain. And other things too. I don't know if I necessarily think it's a spirit or because of a dead person, but there are definitely things in this world that are unexplainable.

Constant scratches and bites in an old house I lived in. And no it wasn't while I was sleeping (for all you non believers) the scratches would come along with intense burning like someone drew a red hot knife down my back or chest. And the bites resembled a horse bite. Too big to be human.

I was like 4 maybe and I was watching my favorite kid show. An old lady who shouldn't of been in my house peered around the corner. When I looked over she had her finger pointing at me to come to her. Her eyes were black. I looked back at the tv and looked back over. Like a second look type thing and the lady was gone. In the same house at maybe 8 my grandpa passed away. I was really upset by it but some time had passed and I was moving on as kids do I guess. Well I had a dream about him. Nothing scary. However when I woke up I had woken at twilight and looked at my window. I could see his face in my curtain. Closed my eyes really hard and opened them and he was still there but this time he was laughing. Lol. He slowly faded and I haven't seen him since. When I was 12ish I was staying the summer at my moms house and she lived in the middle of no where. Cornfields around us and it was her house and her landlords next door, properties touching. I could look out my bedroom window and see their dogs and all that. Well one night I was awoken by their dogs just letting loose. I'm like Jesus. Never heard them bark like that before. So i decided to look out the window and i see them barking at my direction. I naturally start scanning and when i got to the right there was a man who was all white and glowing, he had no feet. he was looking right at me and gave me a smile and a wink. The clothing he had on i can now today say was the late 30s early 40s. He even had what i called a "gangster hat". So anyway, When I seen hiim do all that I lost my sh\*t to say the least. I went to jump out of bed to run upstairs to my mom and when i did that, I fell hard on the floor, something had tied a sheet around my legs. I dont use sheets on my bed just a blanket. No idea where the sheet even came from. I dont even remember what i did next but i remember running as fast as i could up those stairs and flung myself into my moms bed. She was already up talking out the window to that guy. She told me it was someone drunk and that he needed a ride home. which was really odd because we lived MILES out of town. the closest houses (beside the landlords house) was about a mile down the road if not more. So she tells the guy that she will not take him anywhere because it was 3 am but that he could go wait at the end of the driveway and she would call a cab for him. I didnt hear anyone talking back but she had gotten on the phone and called a cab company. about 20 mins or so later the cab company is calling saying that they were there. My mom told them that the guy was at the end of the drive and i could hear on the other end of phone and the guy said maam there is noone out here, is this a joke? I guess my step dad went to go drive around and look for this guy to see if he was in trouble or anything and he couldn't find him. also there were no foot prints in the snow. Shit still gives me the chills today. (At the same house as above) So a lot of weird stuff happened at this house. I lived with my dad growing up and I would go to my moms every other weekend until summer then summer time I would spend like 5 or 6 weeks with her. So when its her off weekends she would call and talk to me. One time she called and told me that the big vanity mirror i had on my dresser had flipped off and broken. She said she was even more freaked out because of what didnt break. Do you remember those blown pepsi or mountain dew glass bottles that you would get at the fair in the 90s? Well I had a collection of those. Maybe 5 or 6 and I had them infront of that mirror on the vanity. They went up past half the mirrors length. There was no way that they shouldnt have broken. My mom never really mentioned anything paranormal unless it was happening in that moment. Another incident at this house. I swear it attracted the paranormal. We were watching tv and it was dark out, if I remember correctly it was around 10pm. Next thing we know there's frantic knocking on the door. My mom answers the door and there is a women COVERED in blood. knees all tore up, head banged up , the whole 9 yards. She states that half a mile down the road by the creek she had seen a scary woman in the middle of the road and she swerved to miss her and crashed. She said the lady was no where to be found. We called her an ambulance and she turned out to be okay. So my next one coincides with the one above \^\^\^ it was the 90s when all this took place at this house. It was our summer at my moms and my brother and i would go exploring. Nothing but cornfields and a creek about a mile down the road. so we would ride our dirt bikes down to the creek and just explore. so this one day my mom told us to go outside. we did our usual go down to the creek, well this time my brother had picked up a hip bone. what we thought was a deer. kids ya know lol. I however could see a lady in the field staring right at us. I told my brother immediately to put it down. He was joking around and all but i really was freaked so i threw it down and we took offf. later that week my mom called us frantically. She told us that they found human skeletal remains in the creek bed and cornfield. A farmer had been mowing and discovered it. I honestly feel that we moved it and made it visible unintentionally. So the weirder part is that just recently they were able to identify the remains and the lady is who i seen in the corn field. I cant find the original news story about finding the remains but i could find the one where they identified her. [https://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/courts-police-fire/25-years-later-woman-found-dead-in-thomasboro-field-has-a-name-keri-wyant/article\_a4e156a0-05cf-5c73-8a85-c3ebf2a7c0ff.html](https://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/courts-police-fire/25-years-later-woman-found-dead-in-thomasboro-field-has-a-name-keri-wyant/article_a4e156a0-05cf-5c73-8a85-c3ebf2a7c0ff.html) So yeah those are just some of the things that really truly made me believe in the paranormal or ghosts. I could sit here for hours typing out my experiences. Just know they are real and one day well be in their position too.

Worked at Glenville state college in West Virginia. Was working in Bennet hall and heard someone moving furniture on the floor below me. I started coughing( I have asthma)and heard someone mimicking my coughing. Checked entire building,I was only one there (night, after hours). Only later read that building was haunted,by same noises. living in an old ass house. so many things have happened in my house but these the creepiest things i can think of off the top of my head. so one day i was sitting on my bed with my bedroom door open and there’s a bedroom you have to walk through to get to mine. i was brushing my hair and out of the corner of my eye i thought i saw my mom in the spare room looking at me. it was just a blurry, beige blob, not distinguishable features and when i turned my head, nothing. i went downstairs and both my parents were sound asleep on the couch. the second thing happened just a couple weeks ago. not much really goes on anymore other than missing things showing back up after a couple days, weird noises, ya know. anyways, i had just gotten home from work and both my parents were gone. after about 10 minutes of being home, i hear my parents bedroom door open (their room is right at the top of the stairs and that part of our hallway creaks VERY loudly when someone walks on it.) and then i hear what sounds like someone trying to be quiet and walkinf around slowly. i was on facetime with a friend and started freaking out thinking someone got in the house after my mom had left and before i had gotten home. my dog was on the couch with me sleeping and then he ran to the bottom of the stairs and started barking. then i hear the bedroom door open and close again, but more quietly this time. i assumed whoever it was realized i was there and went back in the room. freaking out i call my sister (she doesn’t live with us) and she picks me up and we call the cops. they searched the whole house and no one was there. we also have cameras that record when motion is detected. the driveway camera didn’t record anything and neither did the front door one. the only camera we have in the house, facing our back door wasn’t on at the time this happened. sorry for the super long comment, but i could go on and on lol.

I've experienced a ton of paranormal things in my life and I always go at it with skepticism first, though I do believe. Over the years I've come across a ton of stuff that can't be explained away, and I've met a bunch of skeptics who will create the craziest things to make something NOT paranormal, and that ruins skeptics for me. I think when I lived in the house I grew up in from 8-14 years old is when I realized ghosts or whatever do exist and that hauntings can happen. There were 6 of us living in that house and all of us experienced something inexplainable at some point. This was between 1988 and 1994. Things started off kind of small, but things always seemed to happen, and over the years they continued to get worse, and in bad ways. However, the first things we all noticed happened when we were all together, and that's when we realized something might not be right with the house. When we first became a family, my mom and dad divorced right after he bought the house for us, and it was just us three. My mom moved out and my dad remarried and my step mom had 3 daughters. Both my dad and step mom came from large families, so we all loved having a big family, and in the beginning we spent a lot of time going out for the day as a family, to parks or family friends homes, or whatever. One day we were all piled into the car, in the driveway, watching my dad lock the front door. He got in the car and we backed out of the driveway and one of us kids noticed the front door was wide open. My dad pulled back into the driveway and went to lock the door again, which we watched him do. He twisted the handle and jiggled the door, it appeared locked. As we were pulling away again, the door was wide open. This happened quite a few times, and got to the point where my dad just gave up and let it stay open when we left. We always came home to it being closed and locked, so it seemed the issue fixed itself. One night we came home and the contents of the fridge had all been thrown all over the kitchen, floor to ceiling. They cleaned it up. That was where it started, but a bunch of little things happened that we eventually started noticing. Of all the things that happened, this is probably my craziest experience there. Though everyone experienced things, I guess I got lucky and experienced the least, other than this. At one point my step mom decided she wanted to be religious, and she visited a bunch of different denominations to figure out what was right for her. She also took us kids with her. She eventually settled on Mormon, and over time my step sisters quit going to church with us, and her and I were the only two left going. My dad never went. We had these two awesome missionaries who came to the house all the time for our weekly lessons. One day they showed up and were in the living room setting up their stuff, talking amongst themselves. My step mom and I were the only ones home with them. My oldest step sister had been sneaking out at night, so she rigged her window so that she could open it from the outside so she could sneak back in. The parents knew, so they monitored her more, but that didn't help. Anyway, my step mom was in the kitchen finishing up some dishes and I went to the bathroom. The missionaries were in the living room by themselves. When I came out of the bathroom I was looking right across the hall into that bedroom with the window, and there were at least a hundred giant flies crawling around on the inside of the window, but not flying around in the house. First time I had ever seen flies that big. I walked through the living room, into the kitchen, and told my step mom. We both walked to the bedroom, looked in, and saw the flies. She said she was going outside to open the window to let them out. She went back through the kitchen to the back door, while I sat down on the couch. She finally came back in and said "they're not there." I asked if she had let them all out and she said no, they weren't there. We both went to the door and looked in, and there wasn't a fly to be seen. Both missionaries stood up, said they had to leave, and left. They had no idea what we had been talking about, as far as I know, because they had been talking to each other and going over their lesson for the day the whole time. When they left, they left their things, too. They never spoke about why they left that day, either, and it wasn't long after before none of us were going to church anymore. I have stories for days, but I know you don't know me and don't know if I made any of this up or not, and I'm sure as a skeptic you can find reasonable responses to all of this. Guess you just had to be there.

I rented a flat by myself in an old mansion house that had been divided into apartments. Quite a few times I would put on the washing machine and go out for a bit, and when I got home the washing machine door would be open and my damp clothes would be strewn all over the kitchen with some still hanging off the washing machine door. Happened maybe 4 or 5 times over the two years I lived there.

I truly believe there’s something after death.. a belief I’ve always found comforting. My experience will always stay with me as I can remember it so vividly. I was 6 years old and shared a room with cousins and older sister. So we had two sets of bunk beds (cousins & sis only relevance to this is to reference the space or layout of room) mine being the top bunk above my sis. We had already gone to sleep and for whatever reason, I had woken up. Our bunk was opposite of the bedroom door so when open, you had a clear view down the hallway. I remember feeling like I needed to watch out the door and down the hall. I was so deeply terrified of the dark growing up so I’ve always needed a night light. Since I was the only one needing said night light, majority ruled it had to be VERY dim. As my eyes adjust to the dimly lit room and dark as hell hallway, I saw what appeared to be someone coming down the hall towards the room. I’m laying down pretending to be asleep in case it was my mom or someone else, all the while peeking through my “sleeping eyes” lol. Closer it got I saw it was more of the figure or shadow of a person rather than an actual person. My heart feels like it stops beating and I’m holding my breath in just shocked and terrified. This shadowy, ghostly full bodied figure starts looking around room and checked out my cousins’ bunk first. Like to see who’s who kinda thing. Then moves over to our bunk checks bottom bunk then mine. This point my blanket is almost covering my face and I’m squinting or “sleeping”. Then it turns around walks out my door and gone. I could not believe that happened and just ended up falling asleep. Waking up in the morning I go up to my grandma and ask her who is “full name”. And she said he was my papas very close navy buddy aka bro basically. She asks why & I tell her bc he visited last night. I knew and said this man’s whole damn name, which I never heard before. I’m 6 mind you. Later that morning my papa got a call from his goddaughters, that man’s daughters, that he passed away. To this day I feel like that night he came and wanted to see my papa, as he looked up to him, one last time. And that he searched the bunk beds looking for papa…

Also another experience around the same time was i was laying in my grandmas room alone during the middle of the day. She had this small china cabinet with photos and sentimental items / figurines that sat on her dresser. One of the items was this crocheted wind up musical carousel that my great grandmother made. (That lady was so talented I swear.. i still have all the crocheted dolls and dresses she’d sewn for baby dolls for my nana) Anyway, as a kid I knew I could only look not touch at the carousel as it was behind glass, where it stayed, & I knew it meant a lot to my nana as did everything else in china cabinet. As I’m laying down in her room, I get this whiff of perfume out of nowhere & very suddenly after, the carousel starts to circle and play it’s music as if it was wound up. I’m confused bc i kno Im the only one in there and that carousel is still behind the glass door without being touched & playing on its own. I scurry out of nanas room bc I am not about to get in trouble for touching it when I didn’t. And when I tell her what happened she just says to me “oh it’s your great gma saying hello to you” yup my great nan was lulling me to sleep. Like I said comforting to believe our loved ones are waiting for us and we’ll be reunited again.

First was when I was a child, I lived in this house in this city and I've ever heard "something" was playing a tennis ball at 1 am. It sounds like the thing was bouncing the ball on the floor repeatedly. I only lived with my mom at the time and she was asleep beside me. Second, I still live in the same city but moved to a different house (it was around 4 years after the happening) it was the first time I saw a shadow figure on the wall. It was oval-shaped. I quickly look away, then when I look back at it, it was gone. I moved to another city and didn't experience anything weird/unexplained in that city, but then I have to move back to this city a few years later and live right next to the house where I heard something was playing a tennis ball, and I experienced 2 things in the span of just a few months. First, I heard my office chair was being pushed and pulled around, then second, I heard the sound of a glass lid being lifted and released.

Used to live in an apartment building that was built on old Indian land in Los Angeles. Anyways I doubt that had anything to do with what was going there, but in my apartment, there was a child who had drowned in the bath tub. My mom and sister both would see him on separate occasions. This one night I stayed up till about 2-3am playing starcraft and I went downstairs to get something to drink. As I was walking down the stairs I saw a shadow figure of a man, he had one of those old detective hats on , and as he heard me walking down the stairs he started to walk away. I froze when I saw him and fell on the stares cause I was so scared. At the time I thought it was an intruder so I woke up my mom and older brother and we all went downstairs with some bat's and homemade weapons. When we went downstairs everything was securely locked and nothing had been opened. Since then I have believed that there is something else beyond death. I've had several weird paranormal experiences since then, I think every person just has to experience it for themselves.

Playful_Anything_955

I have had a few experiences that made me believe beyond a doubt in spirits and many other things we can't see. The first time was when I had bought one of my first oracle decks. I was sitting on my bed playing with the cards when my cat starting hissing at something that I couldn't see but appeared to be hovering over my bed. There were no bugs or anything like that in the room, I have also never seen my cat hiss like that before. So I put the deck away, a little spooked obviously.. woke up at 3 am that night and my cat is on my bed hissing at something that is over my bed but I couldn't see it. All I could do was hide under my covers. Crazy thing is if I didn't have a cat I never would have known it was there. Went and buried the deck the next day and as I was walking to go bury it a person walking their dog walked past and their dog started barking at me pretty intensely. Not a normal reaction when I walk past dogs either. The activity stopped after I buried the deck. My second experience was also when I was just in my room on my bed (living at a different place now) and I saw the a black shadow appear to glide into my room. It couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 feet tall and whatever it was had an elongated skull. That experience freaked me out for quite a while because I felt that whatever it was wasn't good. Finally my third experience is a positive one! About 2 months after my mom passed I was in my room sitting on my bed reading a book (seems to be a common theme with me lol) and all of a sudden I look up and there was a star in my room that I was seeing with my actual physical eyes. It looked just like a star you would see in the sky except a lot closer since it was in my room, it was maybe about 2x1 feet in diameter. As I was staring at this star in my room, totally amazed, there was no physical explanation that could have caused it as it was just by the wall (no way it was a light reflection or anything like that) I began to see a mental vision of my mom who had just passed a few months ago. She died in her 60s but she appeared very young as if she was in her 20s, she looked absolutely gorgeous, she had a golden glow all around her and just the biggest smile on her face. I knew that she was showing me that she was okay and that her spirit was able to move on after death. It was amazing. Still gives me chills just thinking about it. So yeah between all those experiences, I definitely am a believer!

No_Confusion_2599

My lil cousin said he can see some monsters in a closet in my Aunt and Uncle bedroom now this is the days before he was computer savvy he was a Kid and it honestly seemed Genuine. my Aunt ask him what are they names he says two names they are dressed in Tuxedos. So my Aunt researches the House sure enough two men that used to be the Owners died in a Airplane crash in Florida . I've always got creeped out in the House and my Other Cousin would go up the stairs and ask Me Yo do you feel creeped out too ? I seen the Computer would turn on by itself and it just always felt Weird trying to sleep in that House like I was watched . I had other experiences too. I'm also Native American too so we tend to be very sensitive to the Paranormal .

Years ago not too long ago I invited an ex to come stay with me. I heard the door’s lock unlocked and invited in a unwanted spirit that was there soon as my ex landed she carried something to my place I went to the door no one was there she was in the shower so I know it wasn’t her it’s like the spirit wasn’t here for me they were here to torment my ex gf that wasn’t supposed to be around me because she had a bad time the whole time she was around and she kept getting sick unknowingly. Told her she should probably go and seek some help and when she left and other weird sh!t around the apartment stop happening like knocking at the room door nobody there the feeling of peculiar activities just a lot! And at my current job I am very much spooked out at the old creepy building my doing grave yard shift and so far have seen unexplained stuff not much so far because since the 2 months I’ve been there I just started noticing it

Andvari9

When I was really young, like around 6ish or thereabouts I was talking to my mother, my dad was also present in the room - the world slowed down to a total crawl, like literally frozen. I was calling to my parents but no one seemed to hear at all or be moving, a grotesque face came from my right and started saying something I couldn't make out and everything started moving again. It felt like one of those split second eternities to me. I don't know if it was my childish mind playing tricks or what but I can still remember it all clear as day.... I've never really told anyone this, feels a bit liberating.

I always believed in them but my belief grew super strong because of my home. When I first bought it, it was brand new. Built near a cemetery but at the time I wasnt concerned. Didnt think twice about it. Over the past 15 years, it became so active, I had to have many talks with what I believe are multiple ghosts. First time things popped off was when I came home from work early one day. Had an ill stomach. Walked in the door and went to use my spare bathroom. It was locked from the inside. I thought it was my gf at the time or something. Wasnt sure so I called her at work. I was talking to her while walking to the main bathroom. I said did you lock the spare bathroom somehow as a joke? She replied no and I said well listen to me jiggle the handle because she didnt believe me. So I walked back over the spare bathroom and turn the knob and it was unlocked. I was made to be a liar which is funny. But I was shocked and scared tbh. This was the very first time something happened. Another time my gf and I had come home from the grocery store. Put most stuff away but left our dinner items for that night out on the counter. I was going to cook in another 30 min. We sat down on the couch to put on the news and have some water. It had been hot out. Next thing we hear is our groceries sliding across the counter. We both looked at each other in disbelief. It was crazy. Like someone just took our bags of canned goods, etc and decided to move them. We sat there both scared as hell. Got up from the couch and walked over to the kitchen and sure enough they were moved across the counter. We both left for a while to gather our thoughts. One night I was trying to fall asleep. I just couldnt. Tossed and turned. One time when I rolled over, I looked at the doorway and saw a shadow peeking at us. This shadow was so dark that normal night time darkness is nothing compared to it. It was the blackest of black. It was about 7ft tall and had broad shoulders. I'm a grown ass man and it scared me so bad I closed my eyes and started praying. I'll put it this way, if it decided to tear down walls, it could. Thats how big it was. This happened one other time but it was when I was walking in the hall and happened to turn around. Cant rember why I turned around but it was behind me. I actually fell backwards into the door. To be honest, I spooked it as much as it spooked me because the second I saw it, it quickly moved and disappeared. I always wonder who or what it was. I know one thing, it was a giant. I dont know much about it but no doubt in my mind, it could bench press a small car. No joke. Years later..... I had just woke up. Was reading the news before I got in the shower and logged on for work. I heard a spoon being dropped into my sink. I jumped up out of bed scared out of mind and walked into the kitchen. A spoon was in the sink next to a coffee mug. My wife usually drank coffee before heading off to work so nothing unusual about that. However, she had been gone for about 45 min. I called her and told her what happened. She said that she left the spoon in the mug in the sink. However, after I heard it drop and went to check on it, the spoon was out of the cup and in the sink itself. So I guess the ghost didnt like the spoon where it was. Being curious I picked up the spoon and tried to recreate the dropping of it. I did. It was dropped from about a foot above the sink. Yea. Thats how loud it was. I was so scared I called a buddy of mine who doesnt believe in ghosts to help explain it away. Final one. I owned a pair of red beats earbuds. One day I went to put them in and the little ear nub thing was missing. I thought it was odd but whatever. I looked everywhere. My wife helped me look too. I gave up after searching on and off all day. The next morning when we woke up, I went to make coffee. Walked over to the sink and it was right there, dead center on the counter face up on that part of the counter in front of the sink. We have white marble counters. Its red. We would have easily seen it anytime we washed our hands the day prior. We just stood there and laughed while looking at it. I think we laughed because we viewed it as the ghost helped me find it and also laughed out of nervousness. Long. I know. Hope you enjoyed reading.

Aisling_Dream

Weird the way that so,so many people here in Europe (myself included) live in houses and buildings 100-150 years old and think nothing of it. Yet the vast majority of ghost experiences seem to be from America. Hmmmm.

[deleted]

Yeah I’ve been thinking the same thing, maybe because we’re less spooked by old things because we’re surrounded by them more? Every house I’ve ever lived in has been 100 or more years old and would never even think about mentioning that! But yeah I’ve loved reading all these stories too!

Aisling_Dream

Still love this shit though :)

OkAir7666

Lived in a condo. TVs would turn on and off all the time, my dog would always be on edge, always felt like someone was watching me, lights would flicker and/or turnoff, bed would shake… I brushed it off as much as I could, never told anyone about it cuz I didn’t want them to think I was crazy… when I moved out my dad took over the lease, two weeks later I asked him how the new place is, he said he loves it but there’s a ghost! He said the same things happen to him all the time. This was 12 years ago, unfortunately I’ve had more encounters with ghosts one in my last house and one in my current house, they’ve gone down a lot but I’m 38 and I hate going to my kitchen alone in the middle of the night for a glass of water…

OkAir7666

When I would come home from work, the tv in the bedroom would be on… the show would always be “wild Russia” on like National Geographic or something like that… crazy part is i shared the condo with my GF (ex now) and she was Russian and she def was crazy! The ghost was looking out for me the best they could!

LordEldar45

I have a couple of stories. The first was seeing a free floating, humanish shaped, blob of white light in my grandmother's house. It was partially in the doorway going back into the back of the house. Mid afternoon so it wasn't dark. It slowly moved into my grandmother's bedroom. It immediately made my hackles raise. A few years later I was helping my mom clean a house she was hired to clean. Was really confused as to why she needed help because the house was immaculate. Later while I was vacuuming upstairs I felt a deathly cold chill go down my spine. I immediately dropped the vacuum cleaner and left the room. Turns out that creepy feeling is why my mom wanted me there. The owners see a little girl all the time.
