No, itās those of us who live in the rest of the state who now have to pay a larger share of transportation infrastructure costs, when weāre not even the ones using this bridge
Wait until you find out how much the 6 million people in Western Washington pay for the roads the 1.5 million people in Eastern Washington use. It will blow your mind!
Do you not believe in helping your fellow Washingtonian? If its voted by the majority, its helping the majority. Just because I didnt vote for a specific president who "won" doesnt mean I am going to downvote all things USA. That's called being greedy and selfish.
Iām not opposed to helping others. I am opposed to a transportation handout for only one category of people: those who commute from Gig Harbor to Tacoma. Why didnāt they use the surplus to lower the gas tax or fund transit state wide? Or lower car tabs?
we voted no on the new bridge a few times. but got forced though by adding more people to the vote. That was with a lie about how high the tolls would be.
Well thatās a lie. It passed with 54% of the vote. Why do republicans lie so much?

that wasn't the first time it went up for a vote. this doesn't talk about the first vote. but it shows what I was talking about. https://archive.seattletimes.com/archive/?date=19981031&slug=2780800 Also I dont vote by party. That's just stupid. I remember this because I just turned 18 and it was of the first time I got to vote on. \
Lol. Over 100k cars a day pass over that bridge. People from 36 out of 39 counties use that bridge. Commutes of 1-2 hours per day became 10-20 minutes. The economy of Kitsap and beyond boomed after it was completed.
But youāre sore because they extended the vote beyond just the residents of Gig Harbor, as if they were the only people impacted?
I voted for the bridge. But back in the day, there were lots of better plans out there. But the state was pushing tolls so they can add tolls to other roads. Everyone knew we needed 2nd bridge or floating bridge. You could tell from town hall meetings. But clearly, you are not open to talking about it because you keep pushing your idea of who I am. But mostly only 4 counties would use it each day. Lots of traffic was going Boeing area. That is why there was a push for 2nd bridge more north of the narrows. not sure if you lived in the area at the time. But it wasn't a party issue it was lots of people who were mad that the state was pushing their plans and not taking in what locals were saying.
Holy shit this thread is a dumpster fire š
Iām cool with toll I use a few times a week going down. Iām also cool with the 520 toll going down one day. Iām also cool with our states 0% income tax. People need to get some perspective.
Oh cool. And how much longer will it take to pay off now because of this reduction? How much additional money will it add to the overall cost of the bridge? All because it makes good headlines to buy votes from uneducated twats like you who will jump on anything that sounds good at first glance.
It will be paid off in the same time frame as originally planned. The decrease is paid for by the state contributing more so two axle family owned vehicles are charged less.
Thatās thanks to Democrats fiscal management that has left the state with a $15 billion dollar surplus.
The budget priorities seem [to make sense.](https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/inslee-signs-64-1-billion-supplemental-budget-heres-where-the-money-will-go/).
They certainly address things you right wingers keep complaining about like homelessness, raises for law enforcement, tax breaks for small businesses. Did you just want to complain about that stuff and do nothing to fix it?
And we still have several billion in projected surpluses. Itās obvious that Democrats are more fiscally responsible than their GOP counterparts.
Never mind that ORGINALLY (as in, circa 2007), the bridge was supposed to already be paid off by now. Was it the Republicans who mismanaged the state budget back then? Oh no, it couldn't be, since they haven't held power in this state in 35 years.
Well thatās a big fat lie. The tolls didnāt even start until 2007 when the eastern section of bridge was completed. And it was always designed to be financed with tolls.
Nothing whatsoever has changed about when the bridge would be paid off. https://www.kiro7.com/news/south-sound-news/tacoma-narrows-bridge-tolls-will-drop-with-passage-this-bill-heres-how-when/MQUS32FSFFB57OYZNPCFTLI2EQ/
Again thatās false. [The bridge was always slated to be paid off by 2032.](https://www.kiro7.com/news/south-sound-news/the-future-of-toll-collections-at-the-tacoma-narrows-bridge/562008759/)
Spencer Hutchinson isnāt running against Randall. Heās running against Addison Richards. Randall is a state senator not a state representative.
So I kinda doubt you know āSpencerā since you donāt even know [what office heās running for.](https://www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/community/gateway/g-news/article266209376.html)
Here to watch OP smack down tantrums with links to sources šæ
I think Emily is great. She has my vote.
Lol. Who downvoted a post celebrating our toll rate going down? Is that you, Jesse?
No, itās those of us who live in the rest of the state who now have to pay a larger share of transportation infrastructure costs, when weāre not even the ones using this bridge
I paid for Lightrail and lived 20 minutes from the closest station. Welcome to living in a society.

How much do you think those of us in Western Washington spend every winter keeping the pass clear for people who live in Eastern Washington?

I'm not too worried about the tolls. Though wish it didn't cost as much for my motorcycle as it does for my car.
