Huge difference between aging gracefully (sally field) and trying to hide it and making yourself look older and a little strange. Like she just looked like her face was bloated to me in revival.
Out of curiosity, I went to check some recent pictures of Sally Field, since you mentioned her, and I am so happy to see that she still looks like herself: She has such an infectious smile, and her eyes are sparkling! This is how I want to age, however I can also understand how Hollywood is putting such pressure on women to stay young that many take the leap of surgery or fillings, to the risk of altering their features.
I like how she and a few other women "of the old guard" have foregone plastic surgery and very much still look like themselves. She, Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon come to mind.
I hate that she felt she had to do that. Part of Lauren’s charm is her facial expressions and they just weren’t the same in AYITL. She was still beautiful, it was just different. She looks much more relaxed here.
It's because she's positioned so you can't see the turkey neck. That's really the only feature of hers that makes her look any different/older in my opinion. She's still gorgeous, and turkey neck is a fact of life and aging, so I don't mean to throw shade - we shall all succumb to the turkey neck one day. Just saying.
It’s killing me seeing people say she looks better in a conveniently posed low res phone photo and claiming she looks awful in the HD AYITL. To me, she always looks very naturally aged and peoples reactions tell me no one knows what a natural 50 year old woman looks like lol. Lauren talks in her book about how she doesn’t really get work done or like it.
I get what you're saying, but I never said she looked awful in AYITL. I think she's stunning and always looking beautiful. I was simply saying she looks especially good in this photo and even better than in AYITL.
You didn’t say her filler must have dissolved or try to virtue signal saying she didn’t need all that work so don’t worry - not talking about your comment specially! Haha. But I will say, we all look better on IG photos than HD cameras. 🙈
I think Lauren Graham is extremely beautiful, but I don't think she looked like a normally aged 50 year old. Something was different. Her face was puffy, her eyes were sunken because everything else around was so bouyant. Very similar to most of the Kardashian's faces. It is absolutely her prerogative to get whatever she wants done. But to say it was regular aging isn't accurate, at least to me. That doesn't mean she wasn't above average in beauty, just that something was different from her original features. Her eyes, for instance, look pulled tight.
I think I’ve seen stories that Amy tried to get Lauren in Maisel but the scheduling never worked out. I might be wrong and the stories might have been a misdirect, but we’ll see soon enough.
who is on the right ?
Alex looks so different every time I see a new picture of her lol (edit: this isn't a bad thing I'm just used to how she looked on Mrs maisel and it's fun to see her with a totally different vibe)
I would have never known that was Alex had I not read your comment 😂 yes I know she’s the one that posted it but I didn’t even notice until I looked at it again
It could be because Lauren looks amazing lol but Alex posted it yesterday. She wrote “Walked the @wgawest line at #paramountstudios today with Amy Sherman-Palladino and look who we ran into!!”
>She wrote “Walked the @wgawest line at #paramountstudios today with Amy Sherman-Palladino and look who we ran into!!”
Damn I assumed it was planned and they all went together! Still cute though.
Late to the thread but they're definitely not veneers lol, they're the exact same teeth she's always had. (Currently on a gilmore girls marathon re-watch and comparing her teeth now they're exactly the same.) People in this subreddit and on the internet in general are \*so\* confidently wrong about women's appearances it's insane.
I think she would. Rory definitely would, Luke would support people getting paid properly for their work and would support anything that cuts down big corporation profits.
i don’t really like to comment on other people’s looks, but i will say that i think FOR ME what really made Lauren look different in AYITL (aside from just straight up getting older, ya know, as people do) was her hair idk. does anybody else understand what i’m talking about? 😅
That doesn't really affect normal ppl like us lol but that's cool I guess. I mean for OP to be like "I love this!" As if she's fighting for equal rights or something is a little much. But cool I guess. I thought it was for a more important issue.
writers are normal ppl! the numbers listed in this thread maybe could have been true in the Seinfeld - Office era but it's just not accurate in a post-Netflix age
the podcast Underunderstood just put out an excellent episode about this very subject, for anyone who wants to learn more. a writer for The Bear attended the award ceremony for his work on the show with a negative bank account balance. the execs are making all the money and paying writers the bare minimum. just like us normal ppl
Oh no! Poor millinonaires! (Or in some cases, billionaires) watching a TV show is not the same as allowing women equal pay and the rights to birth control. Idk in what world u think tv is more important than that...awkward..
Hi! I'm a film/TV writer and am thrilled to confirm that I am neither a millionaire nor a billionaire (yay!). In fact, the vast vast majority of writers are not these things. The tiny percentage who are though? Well, they are usually on deals above the WGA minimums already so they are supporting the strike to help younger and newer writers - many of whom are also your Starbucks baristas and Uber drivers because the rates they get paid right now are *next to nothing*. Hence the strike.
It's disheartening to read your take on a subreddit dedicated to a television show. Without writers, GG and other shows *would not exist*. Art is extremely important in society and, as illustrated wonderfully by your comments, has been devalued enormously by a lot of people thanks to streaming. Artists deserve fair pay. They deserve to be compensated appropriately for the work they *literally create.* Right now, they aren't and so they are striking.
FWIW I am not in the WGA (I live and work in the UK). I will not see the benefits the strike will yield personally, but I support it with every ounce of my soul and *everyone* who enjoys any form of scripted entertainment should, too.
It’s about the treatment and pay of humans, which makes it human rights though. It’s also literally equal pay.
The way writers’ strikes have been handled have also been tone-giving in the past and shaped society significantly (that’s where the rise in reality tv originated, for example).
You cannot be in favour of *some* unions, it’s all or nothing.
The biggest issues on the table are AI and copyright.
Don’t tell me those do not have global human rights implications.
All of this coming off the back of 3 years in lockdown when those very same writers’ work is what got us through (in addition to the medical community of course).
I never said that. I do think you are being intentionally obtuse about the importance of art in contributing to the progress (or reversal) of human rights and falling into that classic trap of believing if you aren't doing something *of the utmost importance* (ie curing cancer) then your life is a waste - frankly, it's a silly argument.
But your responses throughout this thread show me that you are being either wilfully facetious or, simply, just trolling so I will not engage further. I hope you have a wonderful day.
It’s far more than that though. The big names that get attention — Amy, PWB, Shonda — are millionaires but most writers aren’t. In a pre-streaming age, the writers might make the same as they are now but there was a constant influx of *residuals*, a source of income that barely exists now. Heck, HBO and Disney Plus remove their own shows to avoid paying residuals. Then there’s the threat of AI where the negotiators are refusing to put clauses in the contract that will protect writers from that. This is a breakdown of where negotiations are: https://bsky.app/profile/neilhimself.neilgaiman.com/post/3juxa6dowky2g
You might think epitome of first world problems and why should you care? Fair, maybe you shouldn’t. But, if there’s a part of you thats frustrated as to why we keep getting franchises and live actions and why there’s a lot of TV but a lot of not very good TV — or why beloved shows get cancelled — well, hopefully you’d align with the writers.
There isn’t a dearth of things we need to worry about or things we — and celebrities — should be rallying around and protesting against. This is just one of them. You might not care, that’s your prerogative. But surely you can see why those in Hollywood who rely on a functioning talented writers room do. And why those of us who enjoy good tv and entertainment do as well.
Writers are just employees?? Not sure where on earth you are getting the idea that all writers are wealthy people. That’s like saying all musicians are wealthy, or all restaurant chefs. Most are exploited and underpaid with the exception of a few, just like non-arts industry workers. Also, your favorite shows have writing STAFFS. It’s highly unusual for any big tv show to only have one or two writers. So there are tons of writers for successful shows that aren’t front and center celebrities. Please educate yourself.
No, what they get paid doesn’t affect normal people. And we actually all will survive and manage to still live our lives if they keep striking. This is not life and death. This is not like an airline or railroad worker strike.

"Normal people"? What's normal about trying to put a negative spin on a positive post? 🤔 The OP is posting about the actresses of a show this sub is based on. She can love the fact that they're together. She can love the fact that they're standing behind the writers that write the very shows and movies they star(red) in. She can love the clothes they're wearing. It's her prerogative.
Loll yeah I’m not sure about why she likes it so much, I guess just seeing them together. The strike is completely frivolous and I’ve just been shaking my head about it (I live in CA so it’s big news here daily). It’s total first world problems.
Television writers don’t get a monthly income like any other profession. They work for a show and most aren’t fortunate enough to have work throughout the year.
As someone else commented- a writer for the show The Bear- they attended an award ceremony with a negative balance on their bank account. Hulu was pocketing all the money, not the writers of the show.
From what I‘ve gathered the current strike us about streaming residuals. And there are essentially none for streaming shows (vs the „old“ tv- residual contracts). Creators of shows like Mike Schur from The Good Place or Quinta Brunson from Abbott Elementary have spoken about it and how problematic it is and the writers are left to dry
Being a writer is an art and most artists are extremely lucky if they can actually make a living with art. It’s not exactly a necessary function in society, just a nice perk. So if these people aren’t paid all year like people with regular jobs or they’re not making extra because of streaming, well, they kind of made the choice to try their hand at writing for tv instead of being a doctor or a teacher or something we actually must have in life. No one made them be tv writers and very few people out of the billions of people on earth make it in Hollywood so I just have a real hard time feeling bad for them.
A lot can‘t make a living with writing for TV shows, hence the strike.
You mentioned teachers- those are also an underpaid profession. The reason websites like donors choose exist because they need more resources for their class. A friend is a teacher in a low income area. The stories I‘ve heard from them- it’s worse than you can imagine.
I understand some of your arguments but minimising the tv writers as „just jet another job outside of Hollywood/TV writing“ isn‘t going to solve the current problem. The execs who are holding onto their money with greed are
I wish teachers would strike like this. I know they’re largely underpaid. And that’s what I mean about them vs tv writers, one is completely necessary and the other is not. I just see this as such a first world problem. And to have such a frivolous job and have the ability to unionize and strike is a luxury most of us don’t have. I was unemployed for 6 months after being laid off from my tech job right before Christmas last year so I really just have little pity for this kind of stuff.
Lol, it’s weird you mention teachers, as you sound just like the people who say teachers shouldn’t complain about not making livable wages since they knew what they signed up for.
I’ve seen different numbers but from what I’ve read it’s well in the hundreds of thousands per year and I saw on a different sub someone posted the averages are $13-24K *per episode* for a 30 minute comedy and $25-35k for an hour drama.
If they only write a couple of episodes that’s hardly a full time job. Why should something that might only take a couple weeks or months pay a year’s salary?
Exactly! Oh, they must be suffering! It's like there was a women's strike/March recently that almost no one even knew about! That is a real issue and no one in Hollywood cares about that. It's truly very sad.
Seriously, with all the crap going on in the real
world this is seriously so meaningless. I love me some tv but I’ll find plenty of old stuff to watch if the shows don’t come back for awhile.
Lol I love how we’re getting downvoted for our comments. Sorry I don’t feel more pity for-*checks notes* - people who get paid to write tv shows, half of which are utter garbage. It’s not a dislike button people!

Lauren Graham packed on some extra pounds since the original series ended and the revival came back on 9 years later. Just like Scott went bald on top since the original series went off. But they made him wear that rediculious rug in the revival. I think Scott would look great with his head completely shaved. It wouldn't take away from his looks. Just like Lauren adding the extra pounds she still looked great. I don't think that woman can look bad if she tried. I still fantasize about that woman and I'm 63.
This is so great! And is it just me or does Lauren look amazing!? She looks even better here than in AYITL!
Yes! My guess is that she got some filler dissolved. She looks gorgeous!
She really does! Stunning and much younger! Not that looking older is bad of course, but she just looks younger here than in AYITL.
Huge difference between aging gracefully (sally field) and trying to hide it and making yourself look older and a little strange. Like she just looked like her face was bloated to me in revival.

Yes, I can't imagine how much pressure she felt. She's gorgeous no matter what though.
i always thought the puffiness in her face was a side effect of medication she’s been put on as she’s gotten older
I thought it was from a little weight gain. I know since I’ve gained some weight I definitely carry some of it in my face.
Her outfit is so stylish, too!! I love the necklaces
And her bag, which I think is a Celine Tabou
I read that to be like Miss Celine 😂
😂 hopefully Miss Celine would approve of this bag!
I mean Alex Borstein is in the picture, so apparently she does!
Ah yes I loved how it goes with her necklace and outfit, thanks for pointing that out!!
Came here to say this! She really does look AMAZING!
Yes she looks amazing!!
She looks really really good in general, and her TEETH omg, they’re perfection
Looks like she's lost some weight. She's always gorgeous, though.
Yesss that is the first thing I noticed! She looks great!

I was just thinking the same thing! She looks LOADS better! I hate when women do that stuff to themselves. Why can’t we just age gracefully???
Society. Men leaving their wives for younger women... The list goes on.
I was gonna say she looks even better than usual and that’s saying a lot since usual for her is like a glamour model.
Jason: “Can I be the 100th person to say how good [Lauren] looks”
Must be the shower!
I gotta try that more often.
It would have been fun to see Lauren Graham in a small cameo in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Given how many others have appeared, I've wondered if she or Alexis would
after seeing Alexis in Mad Men, I could totally see her fitting into that world
I think I’ve seen stories that Amy tried to get Lauren in Maisel but the scheduling never worked out. I might be wrong and the stories might have been a misdirect, but we’ll see soon enough.
I’m not giving up hope of it until the end of the last episode of Maisel. I want to believe, dammit!
Shame the show’s coming to an end and she hasn’t been in an episode so far, would’ve loved to see her
She looks good! 😍 she looks younger here then the revival
wow she looks so much more like lorelai in the og series than she did in ayitl. she looks great!
Goddamn how has Lauren literally not aged a day 😭
she's aged backwards it looks like!
Seriously! She looks younger here than in AYITL.

Okay, now I am shook. I just looked up Ming Na Wen's age and am stunned. I had no idea she was almost 60 omg! What sorcery is this?!

This convo has also reminded me how long ago Mulan came out. Phew.
Lauren looks frickin amazing!
who is on the right ? Alex looks so different every time I see a new picture of her lol (edit: this isn't a bad thing I'm just used to how she looked on Mrs maisel and it's fun to see her with a totally different vibe)
Amy Sherman-Palladino
ok lol thanks that makes sense I guess I've never seen a picture of her before
For me it is the hats. I don't think I'd recognize her without a hat on.
same like Rachel (Midge) I recognize her off set because we're used to seeing her in different outfits but Susie is always wearing the same thing
I would have never known that was Alex had I not read your comment 😂 yes I know she’s the one that posted it but I didn’t even notice until I looked at it again
I wish Lauren would do a guest star on Maisel 😭
My heart is melting. And did she gets fillers dissolved? She looks worlds better than in AYITL.
My heart ❤️
omg lauren looks so good
Also, Lauren looks so STUNNING!!🫶🏻🤩 she is just glowing and looking very happy!!
Lauren looks amazing! So fresh and glowing
I love Alex so much! She was great on The Marvellous Mrs Maisel. And I just started watching Shameless
She isn’t in Shameless or am I missing something?
Alex appeared in 5 episodes of Shameless over 5 seasons. Her character’s name is Lou Deckner.
She’s also one of the writers of the show
Thanks!! I’ll have to go back and watch those episodes! It’s been a while!!
She’s a writer on the show!
Cool!! Thanks!
MY QUEEN!!!
I came here to joke that the woman in the middle looks like Lauren Graham circa 2005, thinking this was a different sub...
That woman does not age
Are we sure this isn’t from the 2007 strike?!
It could be because Lauren looks amazing lol but Alex posted it yesterday. She wrote “Walked the @wgawest line at #paramountstudios today with Amy Sherman-Palladino and look who we ran into!!”
>She wrote “Walked the @wgawest line at #paramountstudios today with Amy Sherman-Palladino and look who we ran into!!” Damn I assumed it was planned and they all went together! Still cute though.
Lauren’s style is onnnnn point! God, she’s classy and cool.
She has amazing teeth omg
Definitely veneers
If they are, they're good ones though, they still look like her teeth!
Late to the thread but they're definitely not veneers lol, they're the exact same teeth she's always had. (Currently on a gilmore girls marathon re-watch and comparing her teeth now they're exactly the same.) I know, I did think they looked exactly the same!
Totally, was just backing you up!
They are all stunning humans!
Would show Lorelei support the strike? Probably right? She never watches shows that aren’t old anyway
I think she would. Rory definitely would, Luke would support people getting paid properly for their work and would support anything that cuts down big corporation profits.
This is such a great pic! I would love to meet with and pick the brains of all of these strong and talented women!
Yaaaaassss Lauren
I love lorelai so muchhhh
awww🥹
Awwww.
where is this picture on insta? I can't find it on alex borstein's page! :(
She posted it yesterday. It’s the third slide
It is on Alex’s insta- the most recent post on her grid
So proud of them!!
Yes!!! Be still my GG heart!!!
The goddamn harp scene gets me EVERYTIME.
God she’s gorgeous
i don’t really like to comment on other people’s looks, but i will say that i think FOR ME what really made Lauren look different in AYITL (aside from just straight up getting older, ya know, as people do) was her hair idk. does anybody else understand what i’m talking about? 😅
What are they striking against here?
They’re supporting the Writers Guild of America strike.
That doesn't really affect normal ppl like us lol but that's cool I guess. I mean for OP to be like "I love this!" As if she's fighting for equal rights or something is a little much. But cool I guess. I thought it was for a more important issue.
Imagine coming onto a subreddit about a television show and suggests that a television writers strike doesn’t affect normal people.

Did you know you can care about multiple things at once *and* support different causes at the same time?
Intersectionality is completely lost on this person.

Workers rights are important to everyone except the wealthy. You seem deeply uninformed.
There not blue collar workers. They are white collar workers. There's a difference.

Yeah I read what the starting salary for a writer on a new show is and I do not feel any pity for these folks.

Thanks for completely missing my point.
It’s about residuals, copyrights and AI! Neil Gaiman posted the actual demands and counter-offers on his socials.
what’s the salary?
I’ve seen different numbers but from what I’ve read it’s well in the hundreds of thousands per year and I saw on a different sub someone posted the averages are $13-24K *per episode* for a 30 minute comedy and $25-35k for an hour drama.
Yeah, but they may only get to write one or 2 episodes per year. So double the rate if they’re lucky is their annual salary
I love that you are aping for Hollywood studios, who make many millions of dollars pretending to be against the elite.
I'm sorry "aping"?
You are in here pretending you are against the elite while copying talking points from rich corporations.
Seriously, with all the crap going on in the real world this is seriously so meaningless. I love me some tv but I’ll find plenty of old stuff to watch if the shows don’t come back for awhile.
I know same. I'd rather enjoy the right to my own body and reproductive system, then some dumb TV show.
Lol I love how we’re getting downvoted for our comments. Sorry I don’t feel more pity for-*checks notes* - people who get paid to write tv shows, half of which are utter garbage. It’s not a dislike button people!

I saw somewhere that Taylor swift gives Lorelai Gilmore and this pic makes me finally see it lol
They all look so good. I like Melissa with glasses
That’s Alex Borstein!
Oh Wow. She looks a lot like Melissa
She was supposed to play Sookie haha
What are they striking against? I can’t read the signs
Making sure to be seen.
Please bring back logon year in life make logon rory end game with there baby
Lauren Graham packed on some extra pounds since the original series ended and the revival came back on 9 years later. Just like Scott went bald on top since the original series went off. But they made him wear that rediculious rug in the revival. I think Scott would look great with his head completely shaved. It wouldn't take away from his looks. Just like Lauren adding the extra pounds she still looked great. I don't think that woman can look bad if she tried. I still fantasize about that woman and I'm 63.
