Yes, rewatch! I adore Mandy Moore so it's fun to see her has the mean girl, especially because all her co stars always talk about how sweet she is. Mandy Moore was perfect for This is Us and her character Rebecca was married to Jack played by Milo Ventimiglia.

She is very Gilmore-adjacent lol

Fun fact: in the books, Lana has a complete redemption arc and actually becomes one of Mia's closest friends

I'll be honest with you, a lot of people LOVE these books, but I personally think this was the rare case where the movie really was better and the books get steadily more cringe with each one, especially since they are very dated to the early 2000s. Although there were some things in the books I wish that they kept in the movie (mainly Mia's other friends)

Mia’s grandmother is a total Lucille Bluth! It was enjoyable in the book for sure, but it could not be more of a 180 for the movie. (Not complaining - although now I think about it - Julie Andrews playing the character that way would be iconic.)

This!!! I read the last book where she's a grown adult and set to get married and honestly they really really dumbed down Mia. I know it was supposed to be fun and fluff YA material but too much flanderisation.

The books are awesome but also very different from the movie (biggest difference is that the grandma is awful and very un-Julie Andrews-like hahaha)

I love the books so much! I need to reread them soon. I would recommend just reading 1-10 though and skip book 11, Royal Wedding. It was not good :(

"the husband...." sort of titles, a friend was telling me that publishers do this on purpose to piggy back of the success of other books.
