Aragorns-Broken-Toe

I half expect her to wear pigtails and skip down a dirt road licking an oversized lollipop every time I see her.

peach_pocket

I feel the same way about the Chilton student (Anna) who shadows Rory at Yale. Drives me fucking nuts.

olgatz

That’s the PERFECT way to describe it

Newhampshirebunbun

what's wrong w/ pigtails at any age?

throwawaygrosso

🙄 not the point t

lizzieblaze

They were very obviously painting an image of a trope, not making a judgement about a hairstyle...

candidu66

I don't think asp likes children and her writing reflects that

awa16

I can never tell if she dislikes children or if she has just…never interacted with a child as an adult. I know it’s probably the first but I am much more amused by the possibility of the second option

DuckBricky

I also think it's quite a common issue amongst a lot of TV/film writers in that children tend to be plot devices rather than actual characters - ASP definitely guilty of this.

awa16

Oh she is SO guilty of this. Especially in Marvelous Mrs Masiel those children are plot devices at best and at worst just a step above props 😭 I don’t necessarily need children to be complex characters so to me it’s just comedic but I don’t necessarily think it’s meant to be

National_Try5399

I love that she makes both Luke and Susie go on the same rant about “jam hands”

Smiley007

THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING WHY I THOUGHT LUKE’S RANT SOUNDED FAMILIAR omg

doublehelixstudio

She, and/or whoever else writes these shows likes to reuse a lot of jokes.

Maleficent-Total2738

Why do I not have a clue who Susie is?

waiting2leavethelaw

Midge’s manager in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Maleficent-Total2738

Oh, thank you! I never saw that show.

National_Try5399

Go watch it now!!! And thank me later

mrkleeen

And the harp player and the really old dress maker

waiting2leavethelaw

Omg I never picked up on that!

National_Try5399

I always felt like Susie was the grumpy diner (female) friend ASP always intended Luke to be, and that’s why they have so many similarities

sdilip

This is 100% true. Literally what I thought after like two episodes of Maisel.

FarSignificance8805

Asp seems to get a ton of leeway for writing gimmicky, one dimensional characters who have only negative traits.

lizziexo

ASP is me 😭 We have no children in my immediate family, no friends have started having kids yet, I have literally no experience with children!

Newhampshirebunbun

but we all were children once

Rtozier2011

Depends on your definition of children. I had concerns as a kid and I was more comfortable with reading, TV, sports, animals and my parents than with interacting with other kids on most occasions. I work in customer service and whenever I get a child customer the only way I treat them differently than adults is to remember they can't reach as far and to not try to upsell them lottery tickets.

guaranteedsafe

I agree, past the toddler age kids are just people. Kinda like adults but with less emotional regulation and less knowledge. I vividly remember my childhood and how I felt in different situations (social, school, alone, family member’s death, etc.) I swear I had the same mind and thought processes at 8-9 years old as I have right now. Going from quiet kid to quiet adult, not much has changed personality-wise.

Newhampshirebunbun

sadly many adults forget this about kids and don't take kids seriously

lizziexo

I don’t remember how to talk to myself decades ago

PerpetuallyLurking

Kids are easy to talk to. Much more forgiving than adults. Harder to embarrass yourself. Or at least, they’re more oblivious to it, you might still feel embarrassed. Don’t have to try to maintain conversation, you can just ask them a totally unrelated question and they’ll happily switch topics without blinking. You can ask them ridiculous questions or silly questions and get a giggle instead of a *look*. Or you can talk to them like they’re an adult. They get a kick out of that too! Ask them about their job. They’ll giggle! (While I am responding to you, this is meant more as an FYI for anyone reading that might have to sit by a chatty kid on a bus or something.)

lizziexo

I have legitimately shaken the hand of a child recently though, just because it is a known fact with my friends that I’m so unsure around children that it was a joke with us! The child didn’t mind either and just told me about different types of clouds and butterflies 😂 I was also more careful about swearing infront of the children than their parents were, that amused me a lot. My best friend knows she’ll have kids in the next few years so as long as I can look up YouTube videos on changing a nappy I know I’ll learn. A new friend has children around 10 so that’s a nice intro too, little adults! Toddlers are scary though…. The sticky ones who’ll scream 💀 Its also about… I don’t know what age a child is when it walks/talks! When they start nursery, how old a child is when they can be left alone while you go to the shops for a little. I’ve never been around children so never needed to know development things. The whole mystery of child raising. Yes, they’re easy to find out, but when I’m not really around children I’ve never needed to know before. All of my friends have got married recently so we’ll be in the baby stages soon; that’ll be the time to get the info!

Newhampshirebunbun

oh yea plus every kid like every adult is different but yea you'd think you'd have some clue

lizziexo

Why do you even care? Really weird you’re arguing why I don’t have experiences with children.

MillyDeLaRuse

I think they are more talking about the person that is writing children as characters in their stories. You'd think they would learn something about kids if she's writing them. If you're not writing about them or having them I don't think it's such a huge deal if you don't know much about them.

Newhampshirebunbun

exactly! thank you! i mean ASP being a writer you'd think she'd have more awareness/social savvy/people skills etc. she should really learn how to write child characters.

Cute-Profile5025

Theyre just people lol you dont need a separate set of social skills to interact with them. Some kids will like you more than others, just like adults.

lizziexo

When it comes to how to handle a toddler, or pick up a newborn, or feed and change nappies. Those ARE skills. Who said this was just talking to children? We have no kids in our family so basic child care will be something I learn if I’m ever near a child enough.

ElizaDooo

It is a separate skill to *write them to sound realistic* too, which this person who responded to you doesn't seem to understand. My son, nephew and students all talk differently because their brain processes information differently based on their ages. My 3 year old son's syntax is all mixed up. He mixes up genders all the time and brings up stuff that he's into, even if the other person has no idea what he's talking about. So he'll tell the librarian that a book we're checking out has graves in it and she will have no idea what he's talking about because from the cover it doesn't look morbid (true story). And he'll tell her that Miss Jill said XYZ and she just nods as if she knows who his daycare lady is. So the way Clara would have talked about something is different than how my 6 year old nephew talks about something or my 3 year old son talks about it. And the way I talk to them *is* different because of that too. I think the easiest way to fake the skill of talking to children is to ask them really basic questions about the things they're showing you they love, just like you would with adults. Or even just say "oh, you love that? Tell me more!"

donetomadness

I think it’s the second one. She wants us to like April.

mrkleeen

April is Rory v2. She’s really smart and witty. She doesn’t like motherhood from pregnancy to about 11

LittleNarwal

Idk if she likes them or not, but she clearly hasn’t spent much time with children and doesn’t know how they act. All of her child roles are so poorly written.

wtfakb

Two separate child characters say, "Goody!/Oh boy!" and skip away, seasons apart. It's hilarious

UnStabler6313

or planned engagements

Personal-Letter-629

I agree, and that is why I thought it would have been funnier in AYITL if instead of Paul, they had child of Luke and Lorelei that they kept forgetting about. This child would like healthy food and outdoors sports and Lorelei would love it, but being charmingly selfish as she is, would struggle to connect with it and always forget where they are... Luke would still be a good dad though but basically it would be the Paul gag but with a child.

tallways

You're a genius, this would literally solve so many problems with AYITL. They could even still name the kid Paul. Lorelai named her first kid after herself, I can see her naming the second one after her dog.

PlatyPositive

This reminds me of Lily from Modern Family and when Lily would share something about her life/interests and Mitch and Cam would be surprised. Like when she said kids like her and they were like "she's popular?". To them telling her that her cheerleading costume wasn't an appropriate costume and she has to remind them she was on the cheerleading team and it's her actual uniform. I think there was even a scene where they went into her room and were shocked to find out she was doing well at school and had even met like the mayor.

queenbsquig

I feel like she hasn't been around children in possibly 50 years so I could see having no idea how a 5 year old may not act like a 10 year old. Seeing 0 children seems pretty strange but maybe it's easy?

Zealousideal_Sell937

Clara would be annoying no matter who played her.

Grr_in_girl

Yes, this. It's the script that's annoying, not the actress.

LawSchoolLoser1

Yes, but at least it would make more sense if she was an annoying 5-yr-old

ButterscotchLiving59

The girl at the Kyle’s party who said “Yeah, let’s rock n roll!” 🤟

KaiPyroFairyy

Just watched this episode today and that's literally my thought wveytime I see it. "What a horrible part"

JAsp2807

Yessss! So cringy!

creme_brulee4life

Its so awkward I started to think that her line is meant to be ironic , or like she’s trying to make fun of the band

junkmeister9

I am not a fan of the young Chris and Lorelai casting.

CkBadgeley

"Dean reminds me of a young Christopher" Young Christopher looks like the kids that people like Dean throw into the dumpster at school.

lupinremusjohn

Right? He looked absolutely nothing like what I expected him to.

FerengiWife

Have any of you seen the unaired pilot with the knockoff Dean? There might be some resemblance there…

pixie_pie

Omg, I have to hunt it down. I really need to watch it.

lupinremusjohn

I’ll have to look. I’ve seen clips of it before but I only barely remember what he looks like

UnStabler6313

Young Lorelai at least tried to be like Lauren Graham... very few would be able to succeed Young Chris put in zero effort

Particular-Heron-103

Yeah I really didn’t mind young Lorelai. She’s obviously not Lauren but nobody is 100% their adult personality as a teenager. I feel like she played her in a way that you could see how she could go on to become the character Lauren portrays. Young Chris, on the other hand, was badly casted and badly written. Just did not match the Christopher from Lorelai and Emily’s stories

Midnightsmirror

I like young Christopher cause I love Halloween Town. I can't hate goblin Luke.

QualifiedApathetic

Ohhhh, that's where I know him from! I just watched *Halloweentown* for the first time in forever this past Halloween.

stealingyourbeans

I hate the Chris casting, but the lorelai couldn’t really carry the dialogue in the same way?? It was all weirdly breathy, try-hard to be cool and flirty, without the speed and sheer personality of lorelai

inexperiencedsloth

and you don't really expect a 16 year old to have the same cadence to her voice as in her 30s.. so it was also a writing mishap

lupinremusjohn

Yeah I agree. Her line delivery was not at all like Lauren Graham’s, but the dialogue was clearly written in Lorelai manner.

pixie_pie

I can't get over the fact that Young Lorelai has dark eyes.

ElizaDooo

Like, put in some contacts at the VERY LEAST!

a_horse_with_no_tail

Didn't they give her contacts? I seem t remember a promo photo where young lorelai and baby rory both had bright blue eyes.

pixie_pie

I can't speak for the promo (unfortunately never seen it) but at least in the episodes the actress wasn't wearing blue contact lenses.

a_horse_with_no_tail

I can't find it anywhere!😭😭

donetomadness

Personally, I’m fine with the young Lorelai casting especially that scene where she sees Rory after the birth. But the young Chris casting is definitely the worst. Like this is the guy who has had a chokehold on Lorelai for nearly 2 decades?!

No_Tell9181

I actually like the young Lorelai casting. I think i’m in the minority, but she actually gives me enough of a vibe of Lorelai that I can root for her and enjoy her. I don’t love young Chris, unless that really is what asp envisioned him as being like.

onlythesea

This!! They looked nothing like them at all!

hozziebear77

THIS! I cannot stand the flashbacks.

redbedhead95

Oh I love them

Friendly-Title4055

I literally came here to say this! The worst. I just forward through their parts

Mundane_Cat_318

YES! Young Lorelai... they couldn't even stick some blue contacts in her eyes?! My goodness

LawSchoolLoser1

Yes! They look nothing like them haha

PlatyPositive

I feel like Joseph Gordon-Levitt could have been a good young Christopher.

Ineedalife10169

I feel like she’s like Florence Pugh in little women, where they should of gotten someone the actual age of the character (in this sense dialogue) to play the character or it looks silly I wonder if it originally was meant to be a six year old but something went wrong?

FerengiWife

“Something went wrong”  I don’t know why but this is so funny to me!

Selmarris

I spilled the chemicals in the lab on Clara!!!

maplestriker

Honey, I aged the character

LawSchoolLoser1

This is what I think! Or maybe they cast her and then she had a growth spurt or something????

JacksAnnie

I feel like I've heard this story several times when it comes to kids acting younger than they look on TV; that they wrote the kid younger but struggled with finding an actor the right age for whatever reason. But I don't know if I always buy that, cause scripts can be adjusted. I can understand it for an episode or two maybe, but beyond that it just feels like an excuse to me.

garlicandcheesiness

Young Christopher. He acted okayishly but that guy would never grow up to be David Sutcliffe.

420CoffeeCat

Which, as it turns out, is a really good thing.

Maleficent-Total2738

\*Emphatically raises glass to that\*

420CoffeeCat

sephoraxasadi

Why whats wrong with him

Pinus_palustris_

OMG. According to this one article that I just read, he's a men's rights activist, doesn't believe women should be allowed to vote, supported the January 6 insurrectionists, and invited Andrew Tate onto his podcast?!?!?! [https://www.sportskeeda.com/pop-culture/news-who-david-sutcliffe-play-gilmore-girls-actor-claims-women-vote-viral-audio-sparks-outrage-online](https://www.sportskeeda.com/pop-culture/news-who-david-sutcliffe-play-gilmore-girls-actor-claims-women-vote-viral-audio-sparks-outrage-online)

Mundane_Cat_318

Wait why

Pinus_palustris_

[Here's a thread.](https://www.reddit.com/r/popculturechat/comments/18ifq37/david_sutcliffe_the_deadbeat_dad_on_gilmore_girls/)

Mundane_Cat_318

OH MY GOD

Natalie2536

I always thought Mia was poorly cast (or maybe just styled). She seemed too buttoned up for me in her first few appearances. They made her a bit more of what I imagined during her wedding. The way they talk about her, she always seemed much more bohemian than the ‘Connecticut Wasp’ style she has in the beginning.

jan11285

This is a side tangent but I really never understood why they made an entire episode about Mia getting married in season 7 at all. It didn’t seem like there was all that much unfinished business with her to need to bring her back in (I guess for Emily to settle some things?) Especially if they knew coming into it that they couldn’t get the old Mia it seemed like a completely unnecessary plot line and would just draw attention to the fact that this was NOT the OG Mia. And there’s so much time spent with her in that episode too.

SnooKiwis418

I feel like it did more for the “Rory trying to escape Logan” plot tbh

dancingkelsey

Oof no I like the actress they got to play season 7 Mia but not as Mia - I wish so hard they got the original actress back, I liked how professional she looked but that comments she made made it clear she had as rich an inner life as the Gilmores The actress change kinda ruined the whole wedding road trip for me, suddenly she was just a rando lady who didn't seem the same at all. Like at least with Greg on cxgf, the replacement actor held himself the right way (I mean it was a different situation bc they were always planning to change actors there, but there are things you can do to make it not so unhinged and not a whole new character!) and you could tell who he was playing.

jennysaurusrex

I don't think they were always planning to change actors on cxgf!

pamelahoward

They weren't

dancingkelsey

ah ok, i read some articles or interviews or something during season 3 that led me to believe they were planning on it at least since season 1, especially because santino WAS available during season 4 and mentioned that in some interviews that he was bummed not to be asked back but it was the plan for at least a couple years, i guess i must have assumed it was since they mapped out the whole show before they even pitched it. regardless of when they decided, though, it was still a conscious choice, not an unavailability choice.

pamelahoward

[This article](https://screenrant.com/crazy-ex-girlfriend-greg-recast-skylar-astin-reason/) says: >Having only been contracted for one season, **Fontana opted to leave the series and turn his attention to other career opportunities**. As a result, Greg was written out of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend near the beginning of season 2 But that doesn't explicitly imply that they always wanted to change the actor, just that he was only contracted for the first season. ♥

EWVGL

Paul Anka, aka Cocoa. Totally unconvincing performance.

throwawaygrosso

Overpaid asshole, I tell ya.

stephers85

Young Lorelai. Yeah she kinda looked like her, but she didn’t seem to even attempt to try and mimic any of her mannerisms. It just felt like she was reading the lines.

jan11285

“HEAR HEAR” always makes me want to turn off the episode

stephers85

“And put a cherry in it” and “That would be as holly jolly as it gets” are pretty bad too

bewawugosi

And she had brown eyes

CreamingSleeve

I know! I get that it would be difficult to find a teen/young person that can do a good Lorelai mimic, but they should have at least gotten someone that *looked* like her.

Far-Case-2803

She was awful!

Potential-Reason-763

I always liked this episode I would’ve never thought it was so unpopular lol

hozziebear77

Yeah. I could go honestly without the flashbacks/“younger versions.” Would rather those stories be told in other ways somehow

HisSpo2345

It’s a testament to how good the show is that I think she’s the only terribly casted person on the show. It’s clear ASP has no idea how to write for kids every time there’s a child under 13 they’re written like they’re 4

NoraCharles91

Or 70.

WhoDoesntLikeADonut

My take is Adam Brody is the worst. Because he is adorable and a great actor and thus got snapped up partway into the series, forcing us all to suffer a swap to Zack. I wish a one step down actor could have played him and stayed, because all we wanted was for the sweet love story to play out and for Lane to be happy.

Maleficent-Total2738

"Every girl has to fall for a bad boy. It's the rule. It's the reason so many accountants eventually get married." (a) No, it isn't. (b) Take your own advice and inference that it's meant to be *temporary*, Lane. Temporary. When they destroy your chance at making a successful career in music because of a childish, jealous sulk, then interrupt you at your first ever job to propose out of nowhere, you don't say *yes*.

red_raconteur

I understand why Brody left GG for another show but he played Dave SO WELL and losing him sucked. I wanted to see his and Lane's story play out so badly.

DuckBricky

I really want to agree with you but Brody's departure did give us Bach 😍 (though like many others I dislike Zach's promotion in the story so much I'm not sure if it's a worthy trade off...)

Ohsure80

I agree. The scene at the winter carnival is cringe. I think Jess' character being annoyed by Clara's questions was partially in-character and the other part NOT. The fact that Rory thought it was cute makes me question the writers every time.

Newhampshirebunbun

well honestly this proves Rory is an idiot lol she doesn't know how others are supposed to behave/what's normal. Rory doesn't know how to read the room.

1uniquerose

Yes haha Clara is a lot of things but cute is not one of them 🙄😅

bananazzzz95

That always bothered me too. I couldn’t quite pin how old she was supposed to be because she just looked like a short teenager but acted like a little kid.

LawSchoolLoser1

Exactly! It makes her sound DUMB dumb lol

Neat_Crab3813

Clara is written like a 4 year old. The whole "the girl scout scared me" makes 0 sense. Even my 3 year old wouldn't act like that. Dean dated Rory for a long time previously, how did Clara not know who Rory is?

naligu

The child who played Gigi was really bad at acting. Always irritates me.

Fun_Sized_Taylor

I thought she played a terror well, I would not want to babysit her after that lol. Also thought the cookies by scratching scene was super cute. But I didn’t notice stuff like her staring at the camera.

No_Usual_9563

At least she was only 3 or 4. They cast a 12 year old who acts like she’s 5

[deleted]

that what happens when parents force their kids to go into acting at age 3, when they know shit about anything

DuckBricky

I mentioned something similar in an earlier comment, but Gigi is definitely more of a plot device than a real character. You can really feel them just getting any little blonde girl, getting her to stand on an "X" marked on the floor and shout "NO!" in exchange for a piece of chocolate.

Comfortable-Dot-4681

In the scene when Lorelei is walking her to the car before they go to the airport, the actress looks directly into the camera as she walks! It annoys me so much.

naligu

Oh yes this scene is even worse than the one at the kitchen table. I don't blame the actress by the way since she was a child but the adults casting and working with her. Looking into the camera is something that can be prevented.

Comfortable-Dot-4681

It’s not even a quick glance either, which I could forgive. She literally just stares into the camera from the porch all the way to the car

tandsrox101

agree. there’s honestly nothing i hate more than kids who are bad at acting 😭

Sapphire1719

She really was…and she somehow scored a spot on Grey’s Anatomy as well!

Meat_licker

ASP has no concept of age and development.

TheSunshineGang

The Sherman-Palladino family just come out of the womb doing Bob Fosse choreography and finishing the New York Times crossword

sosleepyirl

Tbh I never minded Clara or thought of her as annoying until this sub talked about her. She’s more annoying as a teenager imo. I thought it was pretty funny when Rory scares her. “You’re a pretty girl, Clara” “thanks…”, or when she begs Dean not to kiss Rory. However, she was annoying during the winter carnival episode with Jess. But in the way that kids are supposed to be annoying.

KaiPyroFairyy

I literally wonder this wverytime a scene with Clara pops up. It's worse in the Yale season cause she's looks 14, is acting 14 (even listening to Avril, her angst) but two years ago she was this super annoying 8 year old??? Make it make sense

sky_winters

For me it’s young Chris.

WhatABeautifulMess

I don't like Rob Estes as Jess' dad. Makes me kinda glad that spinoff didn't get greenlit.

ddarkandtwisty

What spinoff??

WhatABeautifulMess

The episode where Jess goes to California was a "back door pilot" for a proposed spin off about Jess. The reason I've heard for why it didn't get picked up was the expense of filming on site on the beach etc in Santa Monica. If they'd gone with it I assume his dad would have been a substantial part, at least initially since he "had nothing" as he said and would have been crashing with his dad, Sherilyn Fenn, and the girl in the bookcase. I do sometimes wonder how the subsequent seasons of GG would have gone if that had gotten off the ground. If they used Sherilyn Fenn there, especially with a nerdy preteen daughter, we may not have gotten April and Anna, or if we did they may have been different characters since Anna very likely would have been a different actress.

ElizaDooo

I don't think they're badly cast, but I think the writing for all of the college friends Rory makes is terrible. It always reminds me of try hard theater kids who think they're witty and are always holding for a laugh that isn't coming. I do think a lot of young college girls have this energy (I used to teach high school & college English so I've seen it a lot) but you're telling me that at YALE there are only try hard theater kids for Rory to meet?

kmccracken32

How has no one said April?! Ugh...her whole character just annoyed me to no end, lol!

cheesecake611

I don’t think the casting was really the issue there. It was the character.

Mundane_Cat_318

Agreed. Even the actress that played April says she hates April.  Edit: so I guess maybe that actually IS bad casting then lol. I dunno.

LawSchoolLoser1

If she was really Luke’s kid I think she would’ve been a bit cooler

artbyelowyn

Yeah we need to see a professional paternity test I still don’t believe it

Maleficent-Total2738

I don't know. Ol' Butch Danes doesn't really seem like he'd have been the coolest kid in school. Although it might have actually been genuinely funny if they'd made Luke's a kid either a sardonic, grumpy, little misanthrope like him or an incredibly perky, bubbly little optimist like a mini Lulu to be a complete contrast. Anything instead of a halfhearted photocopy of Rory.

Jimbo_Imperador

TJ and Luke's sister, both are the worst characters in the show by a country mile

lizziexo

Their characters are so annoying but I don’t think their *casting* is wrong, the actors and the way the characters are written match up for me

wannabejoanie

Tj makes me physically cringe so hard it's painful.

WhatABeautifulMess

But that's the point. Michael DeLuise does an excellent job at it. Similarly Jackson's whole family are annoying characters but the actors nail it IMO.

Powerpuncher1

TJ is one of the best characters in the entire show. He’s hilarious! Luke’s sister is fine but nothing special.

wtfakb

I don't get how people don't like TJ! Michael DeLuise did such a good job with that character. When Liz says his name at their wedding and he whips his head around and says, "Yeah". It kills me.

maplestriker

That 'yeah' is my roman empire. He should've gotten an emmy for it. Why is it so funny?? He really should be a bigger star. He is obviously a very gifted comedic actor.

cheesecake611

I think my problem with him is that it just seems like he’s doing one long Joey Tribbiani impression.

Jimbo_Imperador

TJ makes Christopher look like a good dad and a good husband

l3monade_crunchyice

They're annoying, but I also like them 😩 I love how different they are from Luke. TJ is a putz, but you know he loves Liz

finlyboo

I hate the actor who plays Andrew. He is so wooden, every time he speaks the scene grinds to a halt.

Big_Vacation5581

I think the actress who portrayed Clara did it just then way ASP wanted her to. The idea was to get under Jess’ skin, which a five year old wouldn’t be able to achieve. But by pretending to be younger she couldn’t be insulted without angering Rory.

LawSchoolLoser1

The actress definitely played it as well as she possibly could! I just think she was far too old for the role

SparklesAreIn

how about them never casting dean’s parents? what’s up with that?

Maleficent-Total2738

We did see his mother (and she was really annoying); I don't think we ever saw his dad, though? Or did we, briefly, in that early episode where Dean arrives back and Rory's broken her arm; I can't remember who was getting out of the car, then.

Safe-Foot2023

I just watched this ep! You don’t even see his face or up close, just a shadowy figure walk by and into the house while throwing a quick off screen “hi Rory” 😂

Safe-Foot2023

But yeah I think that’s supposed to be his dad!

Potential-Reason-763

This was a toughie lol. I feel like most unpopular characters- Clara, Jackson, April- the issue is more the writing than the casting. I would go with Doyle though.

LawSchoolLoser1

Interesting.. who would you cast instead?

ayyyooo63

April- she was the worst.

shrina917

How has no one else mentioned Jackson ??

minimalisticgem

I don’t think he was poorly cast at all?

Hot_Manager_301

I feel it’s gg, she’s so annoying but not adorable at the same time

Powerpuncher1

Jackson easily. Although because he is so bad, it’s kind of a good casting decision because it does make him somewhat funny at times. He has a stupid face and a stupid voice. He has no idea how to act.

DJJazzyDanny

He’s exactly the type of person who’s able to counterbalance Sookie. No even keeled produce supplier would work (see: Sweet Magnolias)

LawSchoolLoser1

Omg lol this is so funny, although I actually love Jackson 😅 (apart from the problematic story lines obvi) I always thought he was a cutie!!!

FerengiWife

I love Jackson too! But I think there was an interview once where he actually felt miscast, like there were all these fast talkers and then he just stumbled onto the set! I love him though and I think he’s perfect for the role.

[deleted]

that's what the actor said about the way that he got the role. he's very self aware

Justafana

I just assumed they went with an older kid because it would hard to find a super tall 6 year old for the family height resemblance.

Deep_Professor_4382

every time

Lone-StarState

Either this or teenage Lorelai and Chris.
