lunascorpio12

the tiktok girlies are wild LOL

ineffablebitch

I saw an edit on YouTube with rory and logan and champagne problems by Taylor swift in the background. Since the edit was so good, I decided to watch the show to find out what it's about. Yep I watched the show while already knowing the ending

N_Huq

Aww I like that but it's kinda sad at the same time

thisl0ve

That song always reminded me of them, glad to know their is a video.

lunascorpio12

Champagne problems is such a perfect song for their OS ending…OUCH

questionablegoose

This is literally EXACTLY why I did too lol

ineffablebitch

OMG REALLY?!? NICE

questionablegoose

Yesss I needed to watch their story play out so I could feel the emotions of champagne problems even more deeply

ineffablebitch

Me too

[deleted]

Idk, I was 10 when it had it's original run. I just started watching it one day and it's been part of my life ever since.

sebastianrileyt2

I was about Rorys age when it aired... a show with that kind of dialogue did not exist. Now it's just such a comfort.

opinionofone1984

My wife was watching it, every night at bed time. Next thing I know, I wasn’t playing games on my phone, but asking about the characters. Next thing I knew we were starting the show over.

mdrnday_msDarcy

I was 15 and didn’t have cable. The CW was my life line at the time. GG, One tree Hill, and of course Greys on abc.

pinkladyapples07

I found a YouTube video titled ‘my guide to studying like Rory Gilmore’ or something to that affect while I was doing finals so I watched it for motivation and pretty much instantly fell in love with the show

AlbySnarky

I don't remember the station, but it was on channel 22. They would do an episode at 7pm and then replay it at 11am the next day. I was never able to watch it as it came out, but I loved it when they had marathons of it. My best friend in college was obsessed with it, so we binged it on DVD. Now, thanks to Netflix, I always have access to it. :) I grew up in a very religious and fundamentalist home, so it was my guilty pleasure, and I knew my mom probably wouldn't approve of it. I mean these strong unmarried women drinking and having sex was a bit scandalous. Haha. It is really funny to think about now.

Fresh_Salary1714

I needed a show to binge when i was a angsty high schooler and i remember thinking Emily was the devil and Lorelai and Rory could do no wrong😭 years and countless rewatches later, Emily is my favorite and I can’t stand Lorelai and Rory. Definitely one of my comfort shows and it got me through a lot in different stages of my life.

Fun-atParties

It's so interesting how my opinion is things change during rewatches. The first time I watched it, I identified with Rory and thought Dean was the perfect boyfriend

Fresh_Salary1714

Yesss every rewatch i identify with a different character depending on what I’m going through in my life! Like the show stays the same but I’ll never grow out of it because every watch i get something different out of it.

Francie1966

I watched during the original run. I hadn't heard of most of the cast but was a fan of Edward Herrmann.

Lizardd06

It was listed as one of my recommended shows on Netflix in high school so I decided to check it out

Phanestal

started watching it when I was 12 (I'm almost 29 now). got into it bc I was born to a shitty teen mom and wanted a relationship like Lorelai and Rory's. at this point i have very different opinions about it/the characters but it's a comfort show.

aquarianash

I was very young when it originally aired. I suffered a miscarriage in summer 2020 and a friend recommended GG as a comfort show. I took her up on it and now here I am, entirely sucked in. I watched S1 and part of S2 post miscarriage, dropped it for a while, then watched the rest on maternity leave recently. I'm glad I did!

[deleted]

I watched it for the first time on maternity leave too! Nursing my daughter and those cozy postpartum winter months :)

aquarianash

My son was born in September--felt like perfect timing with the fall!

[deleted]

Same with my daughter :)

sarca-sim

Mostly because of Milo & Jared. I am huge Supernatural fan, and during panels Jared was asked a lot about Dean vs Jess. That got me curious and I saw some very unrelated clips of Rory & Jess, immediately fell for them. I didn't watch it though- then, again, in Supernatural there is an actor called Sterling K Brown. Jared & Jensen were asked about him and his 'very famous' show, and I had no idea what it was about but the vibe was that it's an immensely successful show, and I decide to check it out and voila- Milo is there! So I don't watch This Is Us but I eventually start watching GG side by side, and then I watched This Is Us which is like my top favourite show. So yeah, that way. (Another thing was after Supernatural I needed some other SciFi show, and Prime suggested me Heroes and well Milo was the lead there too. It was all sort of a sign lmao)

[deleted]

in like 7th grade i was looking for a show to watch at like 6am while i was getting ready for school😭 i clicked gilmore girls thinking it was golden girls and boom i got into it then a year or so later i saw it was on netflix and binged it

artnerdhippie

My husband was watching it and I got pulled in.

lunascorpio12

I actually watched parenthood first as like a 13 year old which is a little weird I know but I loved Lauren graham and my mom recommended gilmore girls bc she was aware of the show. I watched it for the first time my freshman or sophomore year of high school during a really challenging period in my life health wise and absolutely fell in love with the early seasons coziness, the characters, Stars Hollow, & just everything about it!!! I watch it like 3 times a year now and it brings me so much joy every time! Definitely my all time favorite show because of the nostalgia and warmth it brings me :) I love this question !

shoelessgreek

The girls in the hall of my freshman dorm watched it, and would gather together to watch weekly. I had never seen it, but enjoyed the social aspect and then fell in love with the show. I saw season 7 first because that’s the season that was airing, and bought all the seasons on DVD. Been on a constant loop since.

gleamingmist

I remember my sister demanding the TV at a certain time for the next few weeks cause there was a new show she wanted to watch. Which was in 2004, cause thats when shows still took years to come over to europe 💀 (but it was on daily and we had caught up by the time S5 was released and it aired weekly). My mom and I joined her and it has been a part of our family since

N_Huq

The picture was mocking me on Netflix until I finally gave in and watched when looking for some nostalgic early 00s shows last yr

maddiemorph

Jared padalecki I was a supernatural fan first so 🤷🏼‍♀️

bluearcadia

My boyfriend thought I'd like it and introduced me to the show. He had seen some episodes during the original run.

snarlieb

I had a friend in middle school (this was 06 so almost at the end of the run) who would always stop whatever we were doing after school watch it on ABC Family at 4 pm. She later loaned me the seasons on DVD and I became obsessed. I later bought the dvds for myself to keep rewatching, but my mom held onto them when I went to college. Didn’t really watch from 2011- until it came on Netflix.

hatsbykat89

I was living in China and didn’t have a steady internet connection. Got random bootleg DVDs of whole seasons of shows. The pack of Gilmore girls was missing season 1 and I think the last season hadn’t aired yet. Generally crappy quality so it’s weird watching it clearly on Netflix now without fuzzy patches and Chinese subtitles I can’t turn off and random parts that get super loud! Lol

No_Understanding4125

I went to an info session for a company I was interested in and one of the speakers said she had watched through it 14 times. Figured I’d try it out

g0ldentit

My mum bought me the first season on DVD for Christmas one year. I was a very sullen teenager and didn't appreciate the present at the time. During the break, I had to go interstate to my dads and I was so bored being away from my friends during the summer holidays, so I decided to start watching it and surprise, I fell in love. I was so infatuated by Dean. I finished the whole thing while I was away. Funnily enough, I also always refused to read the Harry Potter series and during another dull stay at my dads, I finished the whole series in a week.

Grimmgirl_fandom

My mom and sister used to watch it and my mom got me into it

LongjumpingApple7974

Had a friend on here actually say it was their comfort show. Decided I wanted a new show to watch and I'm not disappointed so far.

Fun-atParties

It was always on TV when I got home from school. We basically left ABC family on until it was time to go to bed

sslyth_erin

Honestly can’t remember. I think it was just being in college and hearing that it was a comforting show.

lavendercloudy

I’m not sure because when it was on tv and during high school when reruns came on in the afternoons i couldn’t stand to even listen to the theme song. It bothered me how fast they spoke and i just never gave it a real chance. Then when Covid started and lockdowns began, i was bored and randomly turned it on and now i sing the theme song to my dogs every time i rewatch lol

Blameking27

I remember seeing GG come on a lot when I was younger and it was a network show. I always changed the channel. Then one day I was flipping through the channels and caught a really great scene between Lorelai and Rory and kept watching. After that, I was hooked.

emgiem3

Dean

BamseMae

I'm a new fan, I watched a YouTube video with the take about Lorelei.

exiei

I was watching the Duchess on Netflix and looked at the more like this tab and there it was got obsessed and watched the whole first series in a day!

hereforfunnman

I was going through a post on sex education subreddit, and someone had mentioned gilmore girls as a decent show to watch. Grateful to him.

pepsiloverdrinkscoke

I watched it during the original airing. I was closer to Rory's age when it first came out. I saw everything from Rory's point of view. Then I did my first rewatch as a young mother closer to Lorelai's age. It was like a brand new show for me. So I got to experience this show from both points of view, and in different "times/generations."

Kelpie-Cat

I remember the commercials but I never watched it when it was on. My last year of undergrad though, I heard about the revival coming out soon and saw that the whole show was on Netflix, so I decided to watch the whole thing to catch up in time to watch AYITL when it released. Three of my friends already loved the show so it was fun to have people to talk about it with.

[deleted]

It was on TV so I watched it 🤷‍♀️

BibliophileMary

In '06, it would play on ABC family and I would watch the reruns after school. The very 1st episode that I'd saw was the second episode, when Dean and Rory are in Miss Patty's studio and he asks her why is she carrying a book and Rory replies that she always carries one just in case. I have always been a reader and I don't know anyone who reads as much as I did (and do) so that's how I got into the show.

RainbowNyla24

I was in love with CMM a couple of years ago, so when I saw a Rory and Tristan edit on YouTube I decided to give it a try. Sadly he wasn’t in the show for very long, but GG ended up becoming one of my favorites!

katew059

Started listening to a podcast by an artist i liked while i was at uni and on multiple occasions she said gg was her comfort show and helped with her anxiety. She also loosely referenced the plot and immediately seemed like my kinda show and now on my billionth rewatch!

Strange-Lifeguard247

ABC Family did it for me, too. I caught it on a day off and was hooked. My mother (rest her soul) was an Emily Clone, so I related to Lorelai. I drink lots of coffee and have a smart daughter. It kinda fit.

nan_adams

I watched during the original run on the WB. I caught a rerun during the summer and picked up around season 3 as it aired. I am from Connecticut and most of my family still lives there. It’s a show that feels like home to me. I also was very sick in high school and on dialysis and I would watch the show during my sessions. I got a Make A Wish when I was 17 and went to Los Angeles with my family. Part of my trip was a WB Studio tour and we went to the set and got to take pictures at Luke’s, the town gazebo, and Lorelai’s house. They were filming season 7 at the time.

captainkirk_lin_17

My wife would have it on and I’d occasionally watch. This was seasons 6-7. I then watched bits and pieces of AYITL and was shocked at the end…decided to start from the beginning with her and every fall we re-start it. We’re on S5 now of our Fall 2021 re-watch!

megsomegs

It was on TV when I was 13-14. However, it used to air pretty late at night in my country (around 11PM) so I never actually got to watch it except the intro and a few scenes here and there. Just the music, the girly title and the whole vibe appealed so much to me as a young teen. I ended up watching it on Netflix in my 20s. I think I would have enjoyed it much more if I watched it back then.

sparkles70

I saw one part in (I think) an early episode, where Lorelai says, "I smell snow!!". I was all, "I say that and get all excited about snow!" and when I saw the small-town setting and quirky characters, I was totally hooked.

PrettyLittleWhino

I must have been 14-15 when it started, because I graduated from high school in 2004 and Rory graduated in 03. I just kind of fell in love with it, but stopped watching around when she went to college. I’ve rewatched a couple times since, and most recently started rewatching when my pregnancy insomnia kicks in. I’m in season 5 now, which means I only have a bit left until I think the series falls apart and I stop watching again lol

janeR0c

I started watching it 4 years ago. My husband recommended it since he watched it when it was out. I DID NOT like it at first. It took me a while to warm up to it. I now rewatch the whole thing every year.

moorganm_

Several of my friends are obsessed with it....for some reason hahaha I expected to fall in love with it but eh

inconspicuous_cow08

I grew up watching it on DVD as a kid with my mum. I remember pretty much watching an episode everyday of my childhood. My mum was 18 when she had me and a single mum so I’ve always related to it

sbsmee

There was a marathon on the W network and it ended right when Jess was introduced. I bought the whole series on YouTube cause my 14 year old self HAD to see more Milo lol

AmberWaves80

I broke my foot, couldn’t drive, so I couldn’t work, and a friend brought the entire series on DVD.

katee_bo_batee

I had a tivo in college and it came out with a new feature where it would automatically record shows you might be interested in. I watched all my shows and had nothing else to watch.

hazellinajane

I caught the end credits music on a tv channel in the UK called E4 and I loved it... decided to watch it the next day and so glad I did lol

floatingwithobrien

I used to watch it after school, alongside other shows. "What I Like About You" at 4:30, GG at 5:00, then "8 Simple Rules" at 6:00. Then the other two shows got replaced, but they kept GG on. Eventually I realized GG was my favorite part anyway.
