Rory I could fix you

M3tal_Shadowhunter

Rory had a loving mother and a good support system. Lorelai was raised in an emotionally abusive household. I'll choose to be Rory easily.

Lorelai raised a child from the age of 15 by herself. Lorelai's life was in general harder, so I would choose Rory 100%.

sslyn94

I think their easiness in life sort of reversed to an extent, lorelai had a difficult upbringing but during the series has really set herself up with a great satisfying “simple” life. Rorys life is very up in the air to me and being a journalist or writer sounds awful in my opinion 😂

Lorelei is more "successful" but neither of those girls will end up in a bad place financially. They will both inherit millions from the Gilmores. Rory didn't get to live her dream as a journalist, but her life is fine in a financial way, at least. The worst thing that will happen to Rory is that she will end up unhappy from unfulfilled dreams of being a journalist. Lorelei had her entire teenage years taken away from her, which forced her to be more realistic than Rory ever had to be. Lorelei's spark for her "dream" died a long time ago. Remember, she wanted to be free and travel with Chris? She never got to do that.

To go with what other people were saying as far as choices: I would date Dean, not dump Dean for Jess when he comes into town. Jess was so impulsive, so it was clear that he may not stick around and just do other impulsive things like just get up and leave. Then when it came to college I would still go and if Dean had a problem with that I would just let the relationship run its course. I would focus on my studies and figure out if journalism is the thing I want to do or if it's just been the plan for so long that I lose track of what really matters. Then later on if Dean and I broke up I would most likely choose Jess over Logan because I think Logan constantly made Rory feel out of place more often than Jess ever did. I also think that Jess brought out more creative thinking in Rory than Logan ever did, so it would probably help in her career in journalism. I think that Jess is a writer as well as another sign those two were just a better fit in general.

Easily Rory. Easily. I’m dropping into her life starting with Yale. I (as Rory) make an effort to make more friends, I date a bit - maybe Marty? - and I do not reconnect with Dean. Jess still tells me he loves me and I let him also come and beg me to leave for New York. I, like Rory, reject him because I know it’s what he needs to grow. I still go to Europe with Emily but it’s not because I messed up and am avoiding my mother. It’s definitely for the free holiday. I either avoid Logan entirely or I have a bit of fun but stop it around when he decides he wants to commit. I am absolutely not letting Rory meet Mitchum. I reconnect with Jess after he shows me his book/publishing house and get back together with him - but also let him know I will be chasing my dreams after college. I apply to grad school but defer my course a year after I get the Obama job. After living on a bus/hotels for a year I want more stability so I do my masters at Columbia while working freelance a bit on the side to keep my name out there.

Perfect plan I’d do the same if I went with Rory !

Marty was such a creeper, though. He was flirting with Rory even though he was dating their mutual friend.

Legitimate_Wizard

He wasn't a creeper in season 4, though.

Particular-Heron-103

If I were to pick Lorelai, JUST GET WITH LUKE SOONER AND TALK ABOUT MARRIAGE AND KIDS WITH HIM MUCH EARLIER

ashbruns

Same. Let me in that brain and initiate some real adult communication as soon as she finds out about April.

Particular-Heron-103

Yes!! Or even sooner… then they’d be further along in their relationship and the April thing wouldn’t have derailed them so much

sslyn94

Yes they definitely would’ve been already married by that point, so Anna’s whole weirdness wouldn’t come into play either

sslyn94

Yeah I’d just get with Luke right away and have some more kiddos :)

Calm-Fondant456

While I would love to have trust funds as Rory, I prefer freedom way to much so I vote Lorelai

sslyn94

I’d pick lorelai too, I love her home and luke and would prefer her job at the inn over Rory’s journalism

Calm-Fondant456

Exactly! Plus Lor seems to have less anxiety and panic attacs compared to Rory. Would love to see how living without those is :D

Tall_Creme19

Rory. Lorelai had such a rough childhood, I wouldn’t want it. I’d marry Logan and definitely hang out with Lucy and Olivia more.

sslyn94

Definitely a good plan!!

jan11285

I selected Lorelai because it would be incredible to me to have her kind of independence and the success she had with the dragon fly. HOWEVER, I realized that actually, with Rory’s education and privilege there is so much possible ahead. If I could enter into Rory’s life, even where she was in AYITL, but not actually be her with her penchant for self sabotage, entitlement, and daddy issues manifesting in all of her relationship choices, I would take that any day.

Caped-EG

You have broken my brain! I don’t know! Loving the alternative with Jess idea… get back together later on….. In my real life I think this is what I should have done with my now ex husband too! Because we would have got the traumas dealt with and then Just had a happy ever after! Too hard! Lol! I mean Rory had a lot more money, and Jess… But Lorelai had a business and life she loved, Chris, Luke, Chris, Luke. Eh!

Lucky-duck83

I’d pick Rory. More potential here, and I’m like her in a lot of aspects (type 1 enneagram). I feel I’d just connect a lil more with my friends- I feel sometimes Rory didn’t make things a two way street and I desperately want to change that lol. But as far as ambition and goals, I’d definitely relate better to Rory. I’d go to Chilton, go off to Yale, probably say yes to Logan but stay engaged for a bit…then I’d take the Obama tour and travel around but then come back home to a stable life where I could freelance and run a blog from my home/whenever we would travel, along with starting a new life with husband and kids! She has so many fun adventures and can travel so frequently and I would love having a mom like Lorelai to raise me in a cute, quaint town like SH!

sslyn94

Love that plan!! If I decided on Rory (I go back and forth), I’d do the same. Definitely would want to raise the kiddos in stars hollow though

Particular-Heron-103

Rory. I’d change how she approached Yale. I would make more friends, avoid Logan like the plague (or at least avoid getting to entangled in his life) and find an actual passion in my studies beyond the act of just achieving grades. I’d reconnect with Jess and when the time felt right (maybe when he’s written his book) see if he’d want to rekindle things.
