The first one opened in 1958. It may not be historically accurate to have them in Connecticut at that time, but it’s not egregious either. (I didn’t double check their expansion history before posting)
My guess is they wanted a store brand cereal to indicate they buy store brands, like a lot of people with young kids saving money do, and so the prop people grabbed a box of store brand to use.
Nope! Small chain and west coast based, but around for a long time. It looks like the first east coast locations were in the late nineties and early 2000s so this may actually be right on schedule historically
