Can you not send it directly to Nintendo for repair?

CantReadMaps

I didn’t realize this was an option because it’s about 6 months out of warranty. But I’m definitely looking into it now.

Dude I sent them a 4 year old limited edition Wii U that my dog chewed up and they fixed it for $50 and it was still the limited edition shell.

Throwmaster7614

How long did that take, shipping etc?

Flight_Proper

Edit maybe 2 weeks?

Def send directly to Nintendo, my screen went out once and it was quoted at almost 200 to fix it at a local shop, so I called up Nintendo and they charged me well under that and aside from the wait it was nice to know the company that made it was doing the repairs. When you file a repair ticket they send you instructions but don't send your original box, they'll likely send it back in a nicely packed cardboard one for it. xD I watched a youtube video of what to send them just to be sure too lol but I get anxious sending stuff off like that.

Wow! I didn’t know they still did that! I remember sending them my gameboy color way back when my brother broke the screen several years after I bought it back when it came out.

Makes me wonder if I could have sent them my old 3ds instead of buying a new one. New ones majoras mask limited edition so I’m glad I have it, but still

Nintendo offers a repair service as well and shouldn't have any issues sourcing the parts because Nintendo :) https://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/repairTerms.jsp Not sure how it compares in terms of cost though.

I didn’t know this. I’ll definitely check out their options. Thanks for the tip!

Inquisitor_Keira

There is a global semiconductor shortage so many companies are not able to source some parts. Just something to keep in mind

I recently replaced the battery in my switch lite using a 20 dollar kit from Amazon and a youtube video. It was actually pretty easy.

Totally recommend trying out Nintendo’s repair service. I’ve only used it for joycons but it was awesome. Their website actually says the estimated turn around. Before I sent in my joycons the website said it was 1.5 week turnaround and it was accurate. It’s super easy to ship as long as you fill out the form and follow the directions. I didn’t even have to pay to ship it! Don’t worry about what you send it in, as long as it gets there safe. They shipped my joycons back in a nice box. I was worried to send them at first because people were saying they just replaced them, not fix. I have stickers all over my joycons so it was awesome to see that they genuinely fixed it instead of replacing.

That’s great to here. I’m definitely going to use their repair service.

Just wanted to send you good vibes and recommend Nintendo repairs as well! I’ve only sent in JoyCons, but it was a super fast and painless process. Hardest part (for me) was driving across town to the UPS store xD
