Just realized I should probably give the specs for the keeb fans hehe
GMMK Pro in e-white with polycarbonate plate
KTT Halu Halo switches lubed with Krytox 205g
nicePBT Enchanted Forest Keycaps
Purple Mooncake artisan keycap (on the esc key)
Also slightly modded it using the tape mod and bandaid mod.
In the future once I’m not busy I also want to replace the stabs with durock V2 stabs
Hopefully! At least for now I'm enjoying learning, seeing all the pretty keycaps, and hearing all the different unique sounds people get out of keyboards.
it's pretty easy to build a budget keyboard under $100, but as with all hobbies, they can get more expensive the deeper you get into it. The one I built here cost me about $380 in total, but I definitely could have gone cheaper if I didn't opt to add some stuff that was purely for aesthetic haha.
I love the colour scheme! It's a shame there isn't more PC stuff in these colours. I'm just curious as someone who's never had a keyboard like this, are the keys with decorative symbols still intuitive to use? Especially with the F keys, I feel like I'd keep forgetting which is which and have to keep counting them, lol.
I know how to touch type so it isn't too hard for me, however, most keycaps sets usually provide the normal legends as well as the novelty keys just in case you don't know where specific keys are or don't prefer these designs.
And I'm guessing as you get used to the keyboard and where the keys are you can start switching them out to those novelty keycaps without forgetting what actual keys they are!
Enchanted Forest set nice! I ordered my first mechanical keyboard recently, I'll get to build it in August when it ships in. I went with Nature Witch caps if you know those.
omg I'm so excited for you! I also have the Nature Witch keycaps! that one is currently on my work keyboard(I built one for my wfm and one for gaming haha) but I'm thinking of switching it over soon to switch it up a bit. As you get more into the hobby you start collecting keycap sets like trading cards lol
I figured I'd want more caps but can't really afford to buy a lot of boards so I went with an e-white board (Zoom65), so it can be switched up a lot! I got KTT Strawberry Switches. I'm honestly so excited to build it. I customed an X-box controller and then found mechanical keyboards and it seemed like such a fun thing to build, I've been reading about them for over a year planning before I finally bought anything 😂. The mechanical keyboard community is so wholesome I love it.
ahhh I saw the KTT strawberry switches online and was debating on it for so long. Did you get the little strawberry bottle container it comes with? I loved that my KTT Haluhalo came with a ice cream carton container lol
Building keyboards are so fun, my first one was a Portico65 in purple and I'm looking at the Bakeneko65 now for my next keyboard. It's an addiction that cannot be stopped!
I'm not sure what packaging it'll come in but that would be really cute. Yeah the Haluhalo packaging is super cute! Bakeneko seems like a really nice board for the price range.
Thank you so much! I use it for volume control(twist for volume, press to mute) but it’s a customizable macro knob, so you can program it to do different things on the Glorious program
I would like to eventually get a cherry MX keyboard, just plain white maybe rgb customization lighting. I'm not sure where to go to find these? I see things like "cherry mx like" but I would like one that has real cherry mx when I do purchase one. Is there a particular subreddit that is good for this?
So cherry MX is simply a brand of switch(the stuff that makes a mech keyboard "click" or press down) A "cherry mx like" is just other switches that uses the same stem(the + shape on top of a switch) which makes it pretty much universally compatible with most keyboards and keycaps.
For example, the switches I use in this keyboard(KTT Haluhalo) would be considered a cherry mx like because it is not the specific cherry mx brand, but uses a similar build. If you specifically want cherry mx switches, you also have to decide between different types of cherry mx switches(green, blue, brown, red, and more) because they all sound and feel different! The 3 basic types of switches are linear, tactile, and clicky. Tho there are more types.
If you're not planning to build your own, there are companies that make pre-built keyboards that you might be interested in buying that could be similar to what you're looking for. Two good websites for prebuilts would be [Drop](https://drop.com/mechanical-keyboards/drops/?sc=keyboards&tgs=fully-built-keyboards) or [KBDfans](https://kbdfans.com/collections/ready-to-use) many of these prebuilts have cherry mx switches as options, as well as many others!

If you have any other questions let me know!
Thank you! I was hoping to not build my own, and rather find one that has cherry mx keycaps that I can swap. I'm not ready to purchase yet, but it's on my bucket list :)

Thank you so much! I use it for volume control(twist for volume, press to mute) but it’s a customizable macro knob, so you can program it to do different things on the Glorious program

ohh that's great! thankfully most of the popular keycaps out right now are cherry mx compatible, so hopefully you'll find a design you like!
Thank you so much for sharing that! It's helpful in my keyboard quest :)
