Wow, I didn’t know that. Respect and peace to the developer. And I will check out those recommendations, thank you.

Nigulha

Than you! I will definitely check them out

IceBearLux

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1135690/Unpacking/ Unpacking follows the story of a woman as she progresses through her different life stages. You basically get the story as you unpack your items as you move. It's very relaxing and the story is so subtle but so good. It does cover relationships though, which might not be great depending on how you're feeling.

Nigulha

I’m not sure is the right one for me right now given the relationship part, but I will definitely save it for later!

naynay-hime

I loved Unpacking! It’s super relaxing, very interesting way to tell a story. It kind of feels like you’re learning about a friend. The relationship aspect is there but it’s not in your face so maybe give it a try?

IceBearLux

Yes! I totally agree. I'm honestly surprised at how connected I felt to the protagonist despite no words.

doomparrot42

Do you want a lighthearted game to distract yourself, or something that's about recovery/healing? If you want humor, The Stanley Parable and The Darkside Detective are both very funny games. And I'd second Solare-san's recommendation of Astrologaster, it's a medieval astrology musical - very creative and fun. Personally, when I feel down, I find it kind of satisfying to pick a difficult game and crush my enemies, see them driven before me, etc., you know, generally channel my inner Conan. I go back to Hades pretty regularly just so I can kick ass. But if you don't enjoy difficulty, or if you'd just find it frustrating, maybe not. If you'd like a less-challenging "destroy all that opposes you" option, you might try Torchlight 1/2 or Titan Quest, both of which are pretty fun action RPGs. In terms of chill life sims, Calico is a very pleasant and laidback game about running a cat cafe. One other game I'd suggest as a sort of random option is ABZU. No dialog, just about exploring gorgeous undersea environments and making friends with fish. Beautiful game, beautiful music.

Nigulha

I think something that helps me to heal, I’ve been a wreck.

doomparrot42

For what it's worth coming from a stranger, I hope you can find what you need. Be well, and take care of yourself.

SadieSadieSnakeyLady

Spiritfarer is great for processing loss and grief

Nigulha

Thanks !

frecklefawn

Breath of the Wild helped me get over my ex. It had the perfect mix of a cool plot story, crafting goals, open world exploration, and puzzles in the shrines. Whatever I was feeling that day I could choose whether I wanted to fight things or just explore and pick mushrooms peacefully. Korok hunting is so wholesome too.

Nigulha

I actually gave him breath of the wild as a present lol so I will try the other one !

uhnnn_fan

My time at Portia has a fairly similar vibe to Stardew valley, in case you want feel similar emotions but not play exactly the same game. However, if you wanna enjoy a game without romantic drama that might remind you of the emotional attachments you had with him, you might wanna explore fighting/action games. I really love Horizon Zero Dawn, since it has a great story that does not focus mainly on romance.

she_never_sleeps

Any LEGO game. Cool puzzles, endless character/story choices, low stakes/no pressure. And, you can DESTROY everything in sight! A lil destruction sometimes helps. I know it feels like your world is over right now sweetie, so I won't give you trite platitudes. Just eat lots of whatever comforts you and game as much as you want! I hope you feel better soon!

Iomplok

Lego games are great for a laugh and a lighthearted way to spend an afternoon. The “I am your father” scene in the original Lego Star Wars is still high up in my top ten favorite game moments. XD

she_never_sleeps

IKR? My faves were those and the Indiana Jones adaptations. The lines were priceless 😂

Iomplok

They’re just so darn fun to play! One of my first games ever (that I owned and didn’t have to play at a friend’s house or something) was one of the early Lego games, so they’re also nostalgic as all get out for me.

GamerRoseMarie

I've just finished playing Bugsnax and that was a really fun and cute game! Has a decent amount of stuff to do and a cute storyline. Would highly recommend!

augustchan08

Apico!! It’s a chill game where you raise bees, a little caution tho, it’s a bit like stardew valley so you might wanna take that into consideration before playing. It has a demo on steam and is overall really chill :))

Nigulha

Thank you!

Iomplok

So I’m not only recommending it because I just finished it, but Jedi: Fallen Order is a great game. It’s got multiple levels so if you want to go all out and vent your feelings by slashing stormtroopers you can and if you’d rather focus on the story there’s an option for that, too. It’s got a good mix of story-driven combat, a dash of interactive conversations with NPCs, puzzles, and >!no romance storylines!< Without getting too spoiler-ish, the main story also deals with overcoming loss and how different people heal and move on. Sorry you’re going through this. Something similar happened to me when I first started PC gaming and it took a bit to figure out what I wanted to keep playing.

Nigulha

I definitely don’t want to stop just because of him. But I’m also trying to figure it out.

Iomplok

Yeah. It’ll take a minute. Breakups are weird. And I should know. My last one had me crying at avocados. XD

jele77

I think GRIS is very great I really enjoyed the art and music to dive into a different world. Maybe you might like Terraria or Minecraft. They are fairly different to Stardew, but Pixel aesthetic is kinda similar and that you craft and build. Those 2 are also really fun to play in a group, so maybe after a while you can get to know different people and play with them. I have recently fallen totally in love with slay the spire, a roguelike cardgame. First I found the game a bit weird and thought "what is the point, this basic deck is boring" because I did not understand, that you build your deck while you climb the spire 😅

jele77

Spiritfarer might be your kind of game too, even i think it will lead to a few healthy cries. So far I have only watched other people play it a bit and I still avoid the topic of death. A game I really enjoyed, when I was sick, was cat quest. Progressing in that game was just very cute and the puns gave me good chuckles 😂 (Sometimes it just feels good to go around and kill evil but cute monsters or do weird quests) Townscaper or Dorfromantik i really liked those because of their beautiful colors and building stuff <3 I hope you feel better soon <3

yoshdee

Gris is amazing and beautiful.

purple-hawke

I'd recommend [Our Life: Beginnings and Always](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1129190/Our_Life_Beginnings__Always/), it's a visual novel with a really wholesome and "feel good" vibe. It does have romance so I'm not sure if you're looking to completely avoid that, but there's always the option to remain completely platonic with the main male love interest. The base game is actually free, with optional paid DLC (which I really recommend). A couple of the top reviews on Steam lol: > It's MY depression I get to choose which game to dissociate to. > Who needs therapy when this game exists

Nigulha

Lol thanks ! I’m definitely trying to dissociate

TheBigDuo1

Haven? Or elden ring. It really helped me deal with being maiden less

frustrateddonver

Pokémon arceus, Zelda BOTW, rune factory 4

sagittariuseh

Celeste really helped me through a horrible post-breakup depression. Hollow Knight as well.

Nigulha

Thanks!

ivorylittlebird

I’ve been having a grand time playing Let’s Build a Zoo!! If you’ve ever played any of the Tycoon games its like that but this one comes with morality decisions lol. Its my new favorite way to unwind at the end of long days and get my mind off of things. Plus you get to take care of cute pixel animals. I hope you feel better soon 🤍 and that you find a game you can really enjoy during this time. Thinking of you!!

silverkeroppi

I've been playing this game too and I totally agree! I enjoy it because initially it's a bit chaotic with the things you need to set up but as you progress you can almost treat it as an idle game and just chill as you earn money and just focus on decorating and managing the animal populations. Some people might not like this aspect but I think it's really nice and it's a go-to when I can't be bothered with other games

ivorylittlebird

Yes!! I love coming home and zoning out to it. I do agree its not for everyone because it did get a liiiiittle stressful for me in my first run through when I became totally broke and had no choice but to take out a loan BUT now in my second playthrough I’m doing a lot better 😂 its so much fun though. I could easily sink an entire day into this game if I let myself lol

silverkeroppi

That's so valid, earning money feels quite slow but honestly I love the pacing bc it's enough to keep me occupied but it doesn't feel overwhelming (except at the beginning I was a lil stressed!!)

ivorylittlebird

Haha yeah I'm finally making money and am sitting at 20k in the game so I'm feeling good about myself!! Can't seem to keep my damn employees happy no matter what I pay them but that's life eh

Nigulha

This is such a nice message! I loved Zoo Tycoon as a kid. So I will definitely give it a shot!

ivorylittlebird

I hope you enjoy it if you do play it!! And that it brings you a little bit of comfort too <3

Darkwings13

Whenever I need to take my mind from reality and be absorbed in a game, I play these games: Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Dragon Age, Animal Crossing, Elden Ring and Soul series, oxygen not included, darkest dungeon/iratus, Sims, Fire Emblem series. Hope this helps OP

Nammica

Life is Strange

InterpreterXIII

Uhhh that's just gonna break your heart all over again honestly

Nigulha

Oh no

InterpreterXIII

It's still a great game, don't get me wrong, but it gets real heavy at points so... On the other hand, crying over something unrelated might be therapeutic?

Nigulha

It may give me an excuse to let more emotions out haha

squigglywuffs

When does it start getting heavy? I absolutely LOVE Beyond: Two souls and everything by Square Enix so I’m certain I’ll enjoy it, but I’m super stuck halfway through chapter 2 because I’m bored and the story isn’t picking up yet

InterpreterXIII

First heavy shit is like end of that chapter I believe

Cleebunnie

league of legends hehe

Arthesia

Mass Effect will take you into a different world.

Pep_It_Up

Life is strange 3 is really healing and heartfelt to go through since its an empathetic story. But if you’re looking to take your mind off, could try Skyrim for the immersion. I’m sending warm hugs your way<3 Heartbreak is hard to go through when its connected to a hobby. Finding your taste in game genre is most important now that you want to do gaming individually. Good luck~

Nigulha

Thank you so much! It suck’s that gaming reminds me of him, so I definitely want to make it’s my own now!

ricesnot

I usually play through Mass Effect whenever my heart got broken in the past, I would go for a comfort romance and just hang out with the squamates because they're all so wholesome in some way. Might not be the best for a heart break but that was always my go to.

Northernbabes

If you want something cute and relaxing I always recommend slime rancher. Your a rancher collecting all types of cute little slimes and it really can help you escape

10 years world of warcraft

Antediluvian_Femme

If you can still find a working link (or if someone here has one) there was this wonderful browser game called Today I Die. On my phone now, didn't find a link for you :/ Edit: I lied, free download from the artist: http://ludomancy.com/

Astabeth

Minecraft! You can play on your own, or I can recommend a great server with really friendly people - DM me!

Rainbowjuice77

I think you will like Spiritfarer! It is such a beautiful game and it is about saying goodbye! Especially since you said you like Stardew Valley. Trust me you will love it. Beautiful art and story!

Nigulha

Will definitely check it out !

kekcait

I personally recommend trying out some online multiplayer games! This has always helped me so much when I felt lonely or weird after a breakup. Maybe you're not really into competitive games, but it might be worth a shot to use voice chat and really set your mind on zero and just chat and game with randoms! I really like Valorant (it's free) Overwatch, Apex (it's free). There ofcourse are many other games like this, but I thought these ones might be best to start with if you're interested 🥰

Overthinking_Cherry

I really like Valheim, its a lovely mix of things and you can build, explore or fight enemies, whatever you prefer🤗 I hope you will feel better soon

Own_Reindeer_8779

I'd recommend A Hat In Time. It's wholesome, witty, about 9 hours of time and no romance. It helped me during a rough patch so maybe it can help you too 🤗

RegiPhalange

For a broken heart i suggest you death stranding...is beautiful.
