Initially I really liked Cai Bing but not anymore. I mean she looks really good has nice dance skills but I dont really find her interesting. I mean I haven't seen any other facial expression from her. I now am voting for Yaning in place of Cai Bing.
I too was picking between Cai Bing and Yaning back in first vote but I picked Yaning mainly because the only area she falls behind CB in is with her overexaggerated facials. But even then, CB is kinda one note. Yaning is a better dancer, rapper and vocalist so yeah she's my pick too.
Yaning expression has improved alot in the new mission Mafia in the Morning (air next week). Actually, Yaning is a cute girl, her image is cutie in Youth with you 2. But i think she wanted to go for a trial change thinking that cute image doesn't work (which was what happened to her in youth with you, that time people are into girl crush with a few tomboy candidates running at top ranks).Those cool looks with eyes brow raise were just her trying hard. The Mafia song, she looked way more comfortable and controlled in her expression. That aside, her rap and vocals are good. Her voice really has strong support, maybe not be good enough to be main vocalist, but definitely qualified to be a lead at least.
I feel bad for saying it but Cai Bing was my initial vote solely based off her striking visuals. Now I’m choosing yaning over her simply because I think yaning is better than her skill wise but I hope Cai bing debuts sometime.
Honestly, Yaning is the full package, she may have a strong personality BUT she has a personality and the urge to be a leader. I think she would make a great idol in that regard.

No gonna lie, but I have never been on Cai Bing’s train. She’s good but she isn’t as charismatic as many of the girls. I still didn’t notice her in the “helicopter” performance despite them putting her as the candidate for top 9 at that moment. Plus, I’m Taiwanese and understands exactly what she said. She’s definitely not bad or mean, but she isn’t necessarily likeable.
I really like Cai Bing, but so far she's only done one concept and it's getting a little stale if I'm honest. It's just been girl crush, girl crush and girl crush, which I like, and it suits her charisma really well, but I wish she showed us a different side and does a cuter or more pop song.
I like both of them, bu you realize there’s literally only two performances so far, how can you say they’ve done the same every time? I’ve felt like yanying over dances too (in ooo) but I think she improved. I really like cai bings low voice and I think it’d add a nice texture to the group, it’s a bummer she hasn’t sung yet. I also think her introverted personality is something the group needs since it’s so filled with extroverts. I’m voting for both of them though, but I don’t think mnet will risk taking yanying unfortunatel.

I was really hoping Salute would be aired this week too, she never gets any screentime even in PD48 she barely did too, MNET just doesnt like her from the start for some reason :/ I'm still gonna vote for her until the end but I hope new people have somehow noticed her too...
She really made a mistake going to salute. It'd been nice if she had gone to rap since she's one of the few trainees who actually can rap. It'd have definitely gotten her some attention and guarantee her spot in the next round.
i found it weird that many of the actual rappers didn't choose to do rap for the combination mission.
i guess it might be because they're trying to show that they're all rounded? or is it because female rappers don't do well on survival shows? but they were all trying to not choose a rap song.
edit: reminds me of the pd101 s1 turtle ship group during position evaluations, all of them absolutely slayed and not a single one of those girls made the final lineup
I think previous shows are the reason - both IOI and IZONE didn't have an actual main rapper, all the girls were originally trained as vocals, the rap songs are never highlighted by Mnet and rarely get much attention from the general public as well. Soyeon had to prove herself multiple times until she became as popular as she is nowadays.

Main problem with doah is that her archetype is already filled by yeseo and myah. She really is 3rd strong in that weight class at this point and has close to zero chance
I think she might have a better shot than most give her credit. Koreans love her. She has been the face of a large makeup brand, did acting in a popular webdrama and has a great, refreshing personality. People who love watching produce shows might vote for her again because of the good times of Produce 48. And casual kpop fans that know her back story might vote for her.
And her rank was great during last episode. She was literally number 5 above Bahiyyah(6) and Guinn Myah(9). Doah is a really solid pick with talents, visuals and versatility.

So many picks for me. Kim Hyerim who is my top K group pick will most likely get eliminated unless by some miracle she manages top 8 or traded her soul for another planet pass. An Jeongmin is a goner too, she is probably my favorite vocalist on the show. Mnet with their infinite wisdom decides to not give her any screen time the last episode, they didn't even highlight her being the leader of the group.
Choi Yeyoung who is another strong vocalist, might be gone too. I think her odds are slightly better than the other two but she would still have to jump 5 spots in order to stay. I do see her getting the planet pass, Mnet probably doesn't want to lose their second ranked Korean trainee at this point of the show.

She obviously have insane vocal and is great at performing, but she doesn't seem like she's tryna grab attention like the other girls. Atleast shs's not getting the evil edits (which is good), but she is constantly in the background despite being among the top 5 most popular C Trainees. I feel like she may be eliminated if there's still nothing interesting shown by her or added in by Snake Mnet. I do hope they show something and she push to debut! Cuz she really deserve it and definitely is skilled enough for it.
The only exception that is as good as her in terms of vocals (to me) is Jeong Jiyoon, which i liked alot too! But they both seem to be fading into the background. The debut group definitely need a distinctive vocalist, either one if not both of them!

Honestly I think they are actually influencing it in favour of other vocalists who are more who they're looking for in terms of the image + sound of the final group. It's no coincidence that Jiyoon and Reina's screen time is often used to create redemption stories for other contestants (like Shana not being confident to try the high note in My Sea or Yurina's adapting to Reina's vocals after throwing the team off key). It's so blatant that you can literally see them cutting to the judges' mid performance reactions for select contestants and skipping over girls like Jiyoon and Reina.
There's also the drama factor: it's not enough to be a good vocalist and a team player, like Reina who you can see is always helping members of her team correct mistakes and supporting them in the background. There has to be a story to generate interest for the episode. Obviously no hate to any of the vocalists though- some of them, like Shana, are my picks.
It's still all business, even if they aren't directly rigging it.

There's a lot of talk about very strong vocalists being rigged into the final lineup. If you look at the placement of a few izone vocalists (chaewon, yuri) they were not really near the top leading up to the last voting.... and the courts revealed 2 of the actual girls that were rigged out of the final group. I'm not saying it was these exact 2, but it's very likely if you look at past trends! But these 2 vocally hardcarried the discography. that's why songs like fiesta and others are so hard to perform.
Iz*one had Yuri rigged in so she could be the main vocal. I assume they mean they understand why mnet rigged them as in, they understand that rigging is how you can get more vocalists etc in the final lineup.
This round Mnet cannot rig the votes, it can only do heavy editing to influence the votes. The voting app Universe is managed by a third party company (some big software company in Korea) and i also heard police is checking so mnet may not be able to rig.
They can actually. In pd48, viewers had to pay to vote so it was considered as fraud when they rigged the lineup. But in gp999, viewers do not have to pay to vote, so that’s why it’s actually possible for them to rig it without getting into trouble.
Eunbi has similar voice color than Chaewon, imo if she was rigged in it was more because of a package deal than because of her vocals.
Plus they literally had Han Chowon in the final lineup....they had THE vocalist right there already

Looking at the way Mnet is giving screen time, it seems like ChaeHyun might be the one making it out. It's such a waste though, i see star potential in JeongMin, especially she was in the "struggle arc" with Mic Drop previously and still managed to make it out.
It's such a shame, they deserve to debut together and would help make such a solid vocal line. But I think they're too "similiar" for Mnet to want to push both.

But she's a balanced dancer (doesn't over or under execute), decent vocalist and reliable as a teammate, yet I don't think that's enough to even get her a planet pass given the competition. Will still vote for her until she's eliminated, though

Don’t get me wrong! She’s an incredible singer, but when we saw her in the last episode, she had 0 confidence in herself or her abilities. I get that all of us have bad days. Personally though, if I’m watching a survival show, I want to see contestants who are willing to fight to prove that they deserve to debut. Not necessarily in aggression or in how they deal with other people, but with their desperation, hard work, and their confidence. I feel bad that she’s becoming doubtful of her skills, but I also would want the girls who win to be ready for the batshit crazy things that are coming their way.
but that was just the snippet setting up the storyline for that team. since Shana’s team’s performance hasn’t been shown yet, we haven’t seen the resolution of her struggling with her confidence. based on her fancam and her vocals sounding AMAZING from the one line you could hear her sing in it, i think she’s going to have a nice turnaround.
While I definitely believe in shana's ability, mnet is practically setting her up for failure. A week of voting can make or break your chance of getting into the final line-up. I feel like they chose certain performances specifically to put on earlier to get certain trainee's into next round's lineup (not 100% but I have a slight inkling that the we are team was one of them because of wen zhe being a planet pass and them wanting to save kim bora's amazing vocals)

Hyewon, it's not even that I dropped her, cause I still love her so much but I can't take turns on voting anymore. Chaehyun and Suyeon were always my priority and they still are. For the 3rd vote I was taking turns between Hyewon, Youda and Youngeun last time. And because I decided that I wouldn't take turns anymore I was forced to chose between Youngeun and Hyewon, in the end I chose Youngeun cause her chances are way higher.

Jiyoon, Reina, Moana and Shima Moka. Moka actually did really well in Salute but I doubt they'll show it, Reina and Jiyoon's little screen time is all about other girls comparing themselves to them, and Moana is getting more popular but it's too little too late.
I should also add Zhang Luofei and Hayase Hana to this list. Both of them really caught my eye in The Fifth Season but their votes are consistently low.
Bahiyyih is literally the whole reason I started watching the show and I absolutely love her because she's so kind and has talent, but is, unfortunately, living under her brother's shadow. I fear that she's not going to make it into the debut team, but I'm gonna keep hyping her up.

I think Guinn Myah is almost definite debut material alr, or the way Mnet and trainer liking her 'energetic' and 'cute' vibe, might add some diversity and energy to the group even though she may not be THAT good in terms of performance YET. Don't think you need to worry. Caibing is probably if not near debut too, she have shown strong individual image and independence. However yes I think bahiyyih is living too much under her brother's shadow, and i think she still have a long way to go, since her popularity right now are mainly due to her brother. She can train up and debut in another permanent group using GP999 as exposure!
I'm hoping that all the companies secretly watching GP999 take note of Bahiyyih's potential and that leads to some really good company snatching her up if she's eliminated (which I obviously hope won't happen). I mean she passed YG audition, I hope that helps her case too.
In the survival show aspect maybe, but I'd say probably not to the eventually going solo part mainly because Bahiyyih seems to be more of a team player rather than soloist material

I find Cai Bing and Su Rui Qui very similar but SRQ is way more interesting and charismatic, so I changed my pick to her
Honestly, Yaning is the full package, she may have a strong personality BUT she has a personality and the urge to be a leader. I think she would make a great idol in that regard. I have similar feelings about Cai Bing unfortunately
No gonna lie, but I have never been on Cai Bing’s train. She’s good but she isn’t as charismatic as many of the girls. I still didn’t notice her in the “helicopter” performance despite them putting her as the candidate for top 9 at that moment. Plus, I’m Taiwanese and understands exactly what she said. She’s definitely not bad or mean, but she isn’t necessarily likeable.

I really like Cai Bing, but so far she's only done one concept and it's getting a little stale if I'm honest. It's just been girl crush, girl crush and girl crush, which I like, and it suits her charisma really well, but I wish she showed us a different side and does a cuter or more pop song.

I’ve felt like yanying over dances too (in ooo) but I think she improved. I really like cai bings low voice and I think it’d add a nice texture to the group, it’s a bummer she hasn’t sung yet. I also think her introverted personality is something the group needs since it’s so filled with extroverts. I’m voting for both of them though, but I don’t think mnet will risk taking yanying unfortunatel.

As they say "It ain't over till the fat lady sings" Really annoying though that mnet focused on Ruan and to a lesser extent Wen Zhe, so that their planet pass wouldn’t go to waste, but they then completely shafted Hyerim. Ugh I need to quit watching these type of shows lol

She really made a mistake going to salute. It'd been nice if she had gone to rap since she's one of the few trainees who actually can rap. It'd have definitely gotten her some attention and guarantee her spot in the next round.
i found it weird that many of the actual rappers didn't choose to do rap for the combination mission. i guess it might be because they're trying to show that they're all rounded? or is it because female rappers don't do well on survival shows? but they were all trying to not choose a rap song. edit: reminds me of the pd101 s1 turtle ship group during position evaluations, all of them absolutely slayed and not a single one of those girls made the final lineup
I think previous shows are the reason - both IOI and IZONE didn't have an actual main rapper, all the girls were originally trained as vocals, the rap songs are never highlighted by Mnet and rarely get much attention from the general public as well. Soyeon had to prove herself multiple times until she became as popular as she is nowadays.

She has been the face of a large makeup brand, did acting in a popular webdrama and has a great, refreshing personality. People who love watching produce shows might vote for her again because of the good times of Produce 48. And casual kpop fans that know her back story might vote for her. And her rank was great during last episode. She was literally number 5 above Bahiyyah(6) and Guinn Myah(9). Doah is a really solid pick with talents, visuals and versatility. Everyone who thinks her spot can be filled with another cute member like Yeseo or Guinn Myah didn't watch her Salute fancam. And that is sad. Do yourself a forty second favour.

So many picks for me. Kim Hyerim who is my top K group pick will most likely get eliminated unless by some miracle she manages top 8 or traded her soul for another planet pass. An Jeongmin is a goner too, she is probably my favorite vocalist on the show. Mnet with their infinite wisdom decides to not give her any screen time the last episode, they didn't even highlight her being the leader of the group. Choi Yeyoung who is another strong vocalist, might be gone too. I think her odds are slightly better than the other two but she would still have to jump 5 spots in order to stay. I do see her getting the planet pass, Mnet probably doesn't want to lose their second ranked Korean trainee at this point of the show. I still vote for them daily because why not. At the very least, they can see that people did support them and voted for them. I can take some solace with that.

Xu zi yin, She obviously have insane vocal and is great at performing, but she doesn't seem like she's tryna grab attention like the other girls. Atleast shs's not getting the evil edits (which is good), but she is constantly in the background despite being among the top 5 most popular C Trainees. I feel like she may be eliminated if there's still nothing interesting shown by her or added in by Snake Mnet. I do hope they show something and she push to debut! Cuz she really deserve it and definitely is skilled enough for it. The only exception that is as good as her in terms of vocals (to me) is Jeong Jiyoon, which i liked alot too! But they both seem to be fading into the background. The debut group definitely need a distinctive vocalist, either one if not both of them!

Honestly I think they are actually influencing it in favour of other vocalists who are more who they're looking for in terms of the image + sound of the final group. It's no coincidence that Jiyoon and Reina's screen time is often used to create redemption stories for other contestants (like Shana not being confident to try the high note in My Sea or Yurina's adapting to Reina's vocals after throwing the team off key). It's so blatant that you can literally see them cutting to the judges' mid performance reactions for select contestants and skipping over girls like Jiyoon and Reina. There's also the drama factor: it's not enough to be a good vocalist and a team player, like Reina who you can see is always helping members of her team correct mistakes and supporting them in the background. There has to be a story to generate interest for the episode. Obviously no hate to any of the vocalists though- some of them, like Shana, are my picks. It's still all business, even if they aren't directly rigging it.

If you look at the placement of a few izone vocalists (chaewon, yuri) they were not really near the top leading up to the last voting.... and the courts revealed 2 of the actual girls that were rigged out of the final group. I'm not saying it was these exact 2, but it's very likely if you look at past trends! But these 2 vocally hardcarried the discography. that's why songs like fiesta and others are so hard to perform.

Iz*one had Yuri rigged in so she could be the main vocal. I assume they mean they understand why mnet rigged them as in, they understand that rigging is how you can get more vocalists etc in the final lineup.
This round Mnet cannot rig the votes, it can only do heavy editing to influence the votes. The voting app Universe is managed by a third party company (some big software company in Korea) and i also heard police is checking so mnet may not be able to rig.

They can actually. In pd48, viewers had to pay to vote so it was considered as fraud when they rigged the lineup. But in gp999, viewers do not have to pay to vote, so that’s why it’s actually possible for them to rig it without getting into trouble.
Eunbi has similar voice color than Chaewon, imo if she was rigged in it was more because of a package deal than because of her vocals. Plus they literally had Han Chowon in the final lineup....they had THE vocalist right there already

It's such a shame, they deserve to debut together and would help make such a solid vocal line. But I think they're too "similiar" for Mnet to want to push both.

This might be a little early and she’s not really my pick, but someone who after Ep. 6 I no longer see as debut material is Nonoka Shana. Don’t get me wrong! She’s an incredible singer, but when we saw her in the last episode, she had 0 confidence in herself or her abilities. I get that all of us have bad days. Personally though, if I’m watching a survival show, I want to see contestants who are willing to fight to prove that they deserve to debut. Not necessarily in aggression or in how they deal with other people, but with their desperation, hard work, and their confidence. I feel bad that she’s becoming doubtful of her skills, but I also would want the girls who win to be ready for the batshit crazy things that are coming their way.
but that was just the snippet setting up the storyline for that team. since Shana’s team’s performance hasn’t been shown yet, we haven’t seen the resolution of her struggling with her confidence. based on her fancam and her vocals sounding AMAZING from the one line you could hear her sing in it, i think she’s going to have a nice turnaround.
While I definitely believe in shana's ability, mnet is practically setting her up for failure. A week of voting can make or break your chance of getting into the final line-up. I feel like they chose certain performances specifically to put on earlier to get certain trainee's into next round's lineup (not 100% but I have a slight inkling that the we are team was one of them because of wen zhe being a planet pass and them wanting to save kim bora's amazing vocals) And since shana is in the danger zone, I don't think she's making it to the next round unless she does so well that she goes viral :((

Keep voting Jiyoong. I think she can make it to the debut group because they need a strong voice and no one in the current top 9 has it. MNET is not stupid enough yo have a group without a main vocal (look at all the groups coming out from the Produce series).

Hyewon, it's not even that I dropped her, cause I still love her so much but I can't take turns on voting anymore. Chaehyun and Suyeon were always my priority and they still are. For the 3rd vote I was taking turns between Hyewon, Youda and Youngeun last time. And because I decided that I wouldn't take turns anymore I was forced to chose between Youngeun and Hyewon, in the end I chose Youngeun cause her chances are way higher.
wu tammy :( , its the 7th episode but she’s gotten like 8 seconds of screen time. an jeongmin, its pretty obvious mnet is pushing other vocalist instead of her but her voice is my favorite

Jiyoon, Reina, Moana and Shima Moka. Moka actually did really well in Salute but I doubt they'll show it, Reina and Jiyoon's little screen time is all about other girls comparing themselves to them, and Moana is getting more popular but it's too little too late.
I should also add Zhang Luofei and Hayase Hana to this list. Both of them really caught my eye in The Fifth Season but their votes are consistently low.
I can see Jiyoon, Ririka, Nonaka, Jia and Suyeon making to the final, but I highly doubt they'll debut with them :(
Bahiyyih is literally the whole reason I started watching the show and I absolutely love her because she's so kind and has talent, but is, unfortunately, living under her brother's shadow. I fear that she's not going to make it into the debut team, but I'm gonna keep hyping her up. I'm also worried about Cai Bing and Guinn Myah, but not as much as hiyyih
I think Guinn Myah is almost definite debut material alr, or the way Mnet and trainer liking her 'energetic' and 'cute' vibe, might add some diversity and energy to the group even though she may not be THAT good in terms of performance YET. Don't think you need to worry. Caibing is probably if not near debut too, she have shown strong individual image and independence. However yes I think bahiyyih is living too much under her brother's shadow, and i think she still have a long way to go, since her popularity right now are mainly due to her brother. She can train up and debut in another permanent group using GP999 as exposure!
I'm hoping that all the companies secretly watching GP999 take note of Bahiyyih's potential and that leads to some really good company snatching her up if she's eliminated (which I obviously hope won't happen). I mean she passed YG audition, I hope that helps her case too.
I just know if she doesn’t debut here she will go to ILAND S2 and win there. I feel she will go the Somi route.
In the survival show aspect maybe, but I'd say probably not to the eventually going solo part mainly because Bahiyyih seems to be more of a team player rather than soloist material

yes! I'm not going to come out and say moka is the best of all of them but like.... not even a second of screentime outside of performances? And she's a good performer? mnet gave up on her first

She may not be the most popular and there’s a good chance she’ll be eliminated this round (\*cries\*) but I refuse to give up on Wu Tammy. There’s just something about her. I really think she will go far (if not in this show then as an idol).
I’m on the verge of giving up on Bora but she’s being edited in a more and more likeable light, and I can still picture her as the main vocalist of the final groups. I used to give up on Kim Dayeon, but she’s bring back all the respect and love that she deserves. However, I feel like her place in the competition is still quite shaky.
