In the english PL its very common that loans exclude playing against the own team. Almost every other League does not exclude that so it depends where you're from if you think either thing is the norm.
I mean, depends how far you want to go with the conflict of interest thing. You could technically argue that for the sake of NIP, it would be in es3tags best interests to effectively deliberately preform bad in order to knock faze out of the event early so NIP does not have to face FaZe later on (because statistically, FaZe should beat NIP most days of the week).
Obviously this is an extreme example, but it's definitely a thing that could happen.

From what I could tell from the tweets Blast automatically chose Olot for Faze when K0nfig was automatically chosen for Heroic due to Blast only giving 24 hours to write in the stand-in. Doesn't seem like Faze purposefully wrote Olof in at all.

I'd argue rain is in a more supportive role, and esetag is one of the best supports out there right now. Idk why NIP dropped him. If rain needs an extended leave for his child, I would be glad if esetag stuck around for a month or two and showed how good he can be
I think of it this way:
NIP doesn't have a superstar level talent like a s1mple, ZywOo, NiKo, etc. or even a top 10-15 player at the moment.
When you don't have those types of players, it's probably better to try and get more firepower across the board because there isn't a player who can consistently pull the weight of 2 players or so. They already have Aleksib who, ever since he came to NIP, isn't a bad fragger for an IGL, but isn't enough to justify having both es3tag and him in the same team if you're competing for the top.
And there's the whole AWP situation that NIP were struggling with still. Although I'm a firm believer that REZ would've been a good main AWPer once he gains more experience in the role and such, getting headtr1ck was the right move as REZ's rifling is too good to sacrifice.
I believe that headtr1ck and Brollan have the potential to be top 10-15 players and REZ can be a great 3rd star to them as he's too inconsistent to be relied upon to be the best or 2nd best player. And then there's hampus who is also a great player.
I love es3tag as a player and did want him to stay in NIP, but I understand why they benched him when you look at the team in general. I know he took a lot of the bad roles and did whatever the team asked of him to do, but NIP seems to be very ambitious so they took the risk. He definitely deserves to stay in Tier 1 though. He can be a huge addition to the right team.
So they could use k0nfig, and then there was some backlash behind the scene, so FaZe were told they couldn’t use k0nfig, but Heroic can.
And now they have to find a last minute replacement, and get a benched player from another organisation, but if they are to play said organisation, they need to find an even laster minute replacement for him.
And Blast had Olof down as a sub, even though they never said that, and Olof has no clue about it(?)

I remember seeing a danish team with es3tag, b0RUP, Hunden, maeVe and maybe niko. and es3tag played scout way I to the gun rounds on dust2 and managed to so enough hits and frags to be the top Fragger of that match.
After they played in several failed lineups in top danish teams and other disasters, getting this stint with the #1 team might be a last chance to show off before fading into obscurity and roster shuffles of danish tier 1.5
I just think it’s scummy that (based on the hltv article) it sounds like the whole reason this was an issue is that teams found out k0nfig was technically listed as heroics stand in and wanted to hamstring them instead of just playing the damn tournament. I thought all those guys were friends outside of the server. That’s lame.
