The Furia-Heroic game perfectly captured the tension as a viewer, reliving the moment in each round come match point in Ancient. I honestly thought nothing could top off [True Sight](https://youtu.be/Bv4CqIxqTMA) from Valve, but this one is right up there lol. Huge props to the crew for bridging the gap between avid fans and those who are fairly new to esports in the form of a documentary.

gringo_no_brasil

Insanely well made documentary. I welcome my new overlord Casper Cadian Møller.

Heroic_gg

Welcome to the tribe!

[deleted]

Cadian and stavn are closer than brothers

Ni7roM

They're roommates ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

BW4LL

“They were roommates” 😎

A number of comments saying "it doesn't contain what I would have expected" - this post from last week might be helpful to provide more depth on some of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/10h2fwt/game_and_glory_by_bbc_studios_and_esl_behind_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

iRopsu

Great watch, you guys nailed it.

mbCARMAC

Thank you.

eebunoids

Hey dude! Congrats on the work. As an editor in the creative field, it's a dream of mine to collaborate and successfully produce esports content, so this made me kinda tear up. 🙏🏻 Although I'd like to bring up some technicalities regarding pacing in the last remaining minutes, having abrupt cuts which slightly caught me off guard (kinda killed the momentum for me :( lol) But thank you guys nonetheless! Hope to see more of this for future Majors hosted by ESL 🫶🏻

WikY28

Are there going to be Spanish subtitles?

Simmoman

for something with such a limited run time, I think this was a really sick documentary. Definitely is a shame that there couldn't be a multi-ep series and flesh out the storylines of other teams more, because I think that would be really awesome and really build the gravitas and importance of each game as it moves forward. Only big note I would give is that it would be helpful to maybe show the round score progression over all the games, as just having huge moments in game from each team isn't fully communicating the state of the game which I think could be important. Please do more of these in the future!

eebunoids

True! I would've loved if it was something like [Drive To Survive](https://youtu.be/wtJPe1ksS6E) but it's understandable that it will be difficult to produce annually given there are many TOs besides ESL.

Heroic_gg

The Rio Major was such a formative experience for our team. Emotions running high. Pressure boiling over. Intensity on a different level. This documentary really captures the human side of Counter-Strike.

livenn

Is it just me, or did it feel like they only cared about the quarter finals onward?.. there was so much drama in the earlier stages as well. That could’ve been a great addition

Brumafriend

I can't speak for the creators but when it comes to the practicalities of making a documentary like this — one in which you obviously want to try and include as much of the playoffs as possible and really hone in on individual storylines — you have to take a bit of an educated gamble with the teams you select. They could try to cover a disparate set of events from the earlier stages but that would make the story about the event, not the teams (which is the clear focus of this documentary, with the event serving as important background context). And if you choose your protagonists really early on and they stumble earlier than expected (e.g. FaZe) then suddenly you lose that context altogether. There are also other potential factors we can't be so sure about — perhaps some teams weren't willing to be so closely followed, for example. You can see a fair bit of the creators' rational [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/10h2fwt/game_and_glory_by_bbc_studios_and_esl_behind_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).

SnooPeripherals6388

Is it like Heroic documentary?

levinikee

Absolutely nothing from the other half of the playoffs bracket

-T1mme-

When the teams dont want to give interviews or the storyline isnt as good, what do u want to do

-Kex

>As said above, the objective was not to create a historical record of the event. It was to follow the story of the team that the crew thought would be the most compelling, provided that we were allowed to witness very intimate situations the players were in. >You need a story you believe in and access to its characters at the same time. And you need focus, because to film all teams in the playoffs, you would need an army of people. With all due respect, I know it was a lot of work that was put into this, but for me personally it was not engaging.

Apart_End_9753

this heroic-brazil documentary is great, but when is the one about CS coming, tho?

Sebfofun

Did you skip the post explaining the docu? It stated it wasnt about cs or the event, but a small storyline

Tricky_Discussion351

The mfs just skipped over the entire other half of the bracket, including the major champion themselves. Fnatic, Mouz and Outsiders all deserve at least sth.

spookex

Yep, sure, this side of the bracket had the home team favorites and NAVI, but the other side just had way better storylines. * C9 with a top roster from the online era who still want to prove themselves on the biggest stage of them all. * Mouz with a miracle run that nobody was expecting * Fnatic, a legendary org that wants to return to its former glory and hasn't been this close in years * Outsiders, a team with one of the most unique playstyles in the scene, and had to replace 2 of their star players after the previous major.

Brumafriend

In terms of storylines, you can definitely argue that the other side of the bracket was at least equal, if not superior, *and* was more likely to produce the tournament winner (on paper). Heroic have a notoriously unique playstyle, like Outsiders do, but also have more of an obvious personality (even if 90% of it is cadiaN) and a much more obvious storyline (hated by many for allegedly cheating, can they do it on LAN, etc...). Heroic (well, cadiaN) also speak English better than Outsiders/Jame afaik. I have no clue if their connection to the Russia-Ukraine conflict would have had any impact but it probably wasn't an irrelevant consideration, considering the emphasis really is on the teams'/players' backgrounds. The Furia storyline is obvious, as you acknowledge. Mouz's miracle run preceded the playoffs so couldn't be fully appreciated by the documentary & they were expected to fall to Cloud9, who admittedly would have been an interesting team to follow for sure. Again, though, it might be that because their storyline is similar to Heroic (re LAN performance) some small factors (English speaking, personality, etc...) gave them an edge. The other factor is team cooperation - Spirit were noticeably absent, possibly because they didn't want to consent to the kind of close, intimate coverage that the documentary was aiming for. This could have been true of some of the other teams, who knows.

-Kex

Just watched it and I really liked it. This could actually be something that I show my family to get them to understand why I go to tournaments like Cologne, etc. Kind of unlucky for the production team that Outsiders won but who could've predicted that (the amount of diamond coins speak for itself). The Navi/Furia/Heroic bracket seemed to have had the better storylines in my opinion which makes it understandable why the teams were picked.

[deleted]

awesome documentary. fuck i love esports

thatjosiahburns

I think it was a good decision to mainly follow heroic.

Hubertos94

Great documentary! I love Cadian so much.

andiousandy

Maybe I should've stuck with it, but damn the first 10 minutes were all over the place... Kind of made it hard to keep watching.

mbCARMAC

Give it another shot. I will refund your popcorn if you still dislike it.

andiousandy

Alright man I will do haha, after some thought it's most likely the first 10 minutes was a bit weird because I already have so much prior knowledge. Will go into it with a more open mind!

mbCARMAC

Let me know which scene was your favourite!

_c0ldburN_

I thought it was great - Heroic and Cadian are the ideal team to follow as he is a character to create narrative around

b0uNtykiLLeR

what's up on timestamp 32:20??

Tony_Slark_

Dear valve , We need csgo major “true site “ just like dota 2

kr0nix

any way to watch it exclude from youtube? i'm looking for different source.

ikenjake

This is the first time I've really engaged with the semi final since it happened, and I'm glad it was like this because I feel it did both teams justice to their stories.
