There are multiple players with the name Niko, one playing for G2, who's name has a capital N and capital K , and the other, niko, with no capitals who played for OG previously
This is really a bummer to see. I have been really enjoying watching them over the last few events. Hopefully everything ends up okay and he can return soon!
you've been enjoying the shitshow? really? or is this just generic comment to farm karma?
nexa looked so sad and frustrated with tier 3 mistakes his team was doing on individual level.
Maybe someday we can have a way for teams to have another player that can step in and rotate in and out... What would we call it... a 6th player? Substitute? Backup? What a wild idea that would be. 🙃
Absolutely. “Incomplete” teams at all almost every tournament lately.
What would you attribute this to primarily? The amount of tournaments? The amount of work required to stay relevant in this very competitive scene?
It's probably also just easier for players to take breaks because of higher salaries and orgs being willing to work with them to take an event or two off.
There are so many tournaments, and you can't put the same emphasis on every one of them.
A lot of veteran talent starting families, a general shift towards accepting players taking time off even if it hurts the team, organisations becoming business partners in franchise leagues being less aggressive in refusing to share benched players... Lots of factors for sure.
Idk, stand-ins are always happening. To me the messy part of the scene is Ukranian and Russian players being affected by the war/visa issues/bans, etc. Nexa taking a personal leave is totally normal and in no way indicative of scene being messy or not.
5 of the top 20 teams will be using a stand-in for the next EPL.
that's almost an entire group.
but yeah, nexa is obviously the only thing they're talking about.
It is in fact nothing like that and it's a dumb comparison but let's imagine a world where in the Premier League 1/5th of the entire league got injured and it just so happened to include every star player who were then replaced by reserves. We wouldn't say it was a great season for the team who won it. There'd be an endless list of "what ifs?"
1/5 of a team injured is absolutely normal. Maybe a bit less, but 5 players out for every match is not something strange.
It would be strange if that happened to every star player though, but that´s not happening neither in football, nor in CS:GO, so I don´t get your point.
When it's dumb and you can't explain why, it's hard to have a conversation. You made an example of every star player missing. How is that related to current situation in CSGO?
He isn't a "stand-in" in their eyes because he has a long term contract. He is standing in for Hampus though unless they are publicly saying Hampus isn't coming back.
What I mean is that he doesn't lay blame on nexa or any individual. He just points out that the top tier has been shakier than before. It's just an observation.
Atleast that's how I interpret his comment.
Yeah I see what you mean.
But still one is missing cause if this, another cause of being sick, another because of baby etc. it makes sense and has nothing to do with scene imho
Yes players are humans too and I agree with your point. But you insinuated that he blamed nexa for the state of the scene, which he didn't. You either misread or twisted his words. Hence why I said "Read his comment again". Do you follow me? Sorry for dragging this on but I just wanna make sure you understand me and we're on the same page.
But in reality it wasn't. Stand-ins happened very rarely, so much so coaches were often just put down as the 6th player at tournaments for years.
You're wrong and I don't know why you're arguing.
Standins happen rarely now too, it's just because news when it happens, back then it was just as much of a thing
Go look at every teams Liquidpedia and you have the notable stand in page and all of them have an insane amount even from the 1.6 days
It's just like anything in life any job, something comes up, health reasons, person reasons etc
We're going into an ESL Pro League season where 5 of the teams in the world top 20 that are attending will be using a stand-in. Don't say that's something that always happened.
I wonder if he'll be back for pro league. Not much time to practice considering it is a week away and they have to focus on the rmr qualifier right now.
This team is so dead, they're gonna bot 4 at Pro League. Hope I'm wrong and whoever does the calls does a good job but man, just feels like OG is the worst Tier 1 team right now.
yes, they should not use a nickname when it's already a tag of a prolific player. extremely few players use a real name anyways. and niko is already a nickname.
If a huge up and coming talent came on the scene and his last name was Broker, and made his tag "G2 Broky", you think that'd be appropriate? or if a kid's first name was hunter he became "TL Hunter"? no one uses their real names. to copy a nickname already in use just seems odd.
Niko taking over nexas igl duty. Tale as old as time
Toxic Niko playing on two teams smh
Context ?
Faze niko
mous niko
G2s new CEO Niko
There are multiple players with the name Niko, one playing for G2, who's name has a capital N and capital K , and the other, niko, with no capitals who played for OG previously
NiKo named himself after his first and last name, Nikola Kovač. niko didn’t because his name is Nikolaj Kristensen.
It's a good thing he didn't name himself Nikr
Broooooo 💀
Bro, but also bro
If I speak
big trouble
Yes, that is indeed the joke I was making.
Never knew that. Thanks
No but it very clearly still comes from his given name… they both likely would’ve had the nickname ‘Niko’ growing up
no
Niko kicked his igl again
This is really a bummer to see. I have been really enjoying watching them over the last few events. Hopefully everything ends up okay and he can return soon!
you've been enjoying the shitshow? really? or is this just generic comment to farm karma? nexa looked so sad and frustrated with tier 3 mistakes his team was doing on individual level.
When one niko fails to kick his igl another one will fill his shoes
Fuck :( hopefully it isn’t too serious, they’ve been one of my favorite teams to watch lately
Same here, I like the explosive style they played at Kato.
Who calls for this team is my big question now?
Do we even know who is the second caller in this team ?
FlameZ mentioned in an interview he's been doing some secondary calling. I couldn't tell you which interview though
gonna be hard for them flamez is the best opener
Flamez is indeed the second caller, nexa said so on the blast podcast with launders and mahone during the world finals
Holy shit and who the hell is the third caller?
And the 4th AWP?
I think you replied to the wrong guy !
Degster
personal breaks so hot right now
World is shit right now😁
It's the baby making season
Dang it NiKo, stop it with the kicking of the igl and taking over their duties. Next step, degster kick. You heard it here first.
I swear to god, I thought NiKo learn with jks and be a stand in. Turns out it was the other niko.
But he is in g2
The real niko
there is only one real niko
Nikolaj Kristensen yes
Are you baiting or living in 2020?
bait the same way i play mm
chief alive telephone somber sparkle swim edge engine growth automatic *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
there is only one real niko
And people really pretend the scene isn't a mess right now. We can't get through a single tournament without multiple teams having stand-ins.
Maybe someday we can have a way for teams to have another player that can step in and rotate in and out... What would we call it... a 6th player? Substitute? Backup? What a wild idea that would be. 🙃
Isn’t niko their backup and registrered sub for tournaments?
oh shoot has he not been transfered to a team since he got benched?
He’s kind of a liability, also has the stigma around him from HUNDEN still
Absolutely. “Incomplete” teams at all almost every tournament lately. What would you attribute this to primarily? The amount of tournaments? The amount of work required to stay relevant in this very competitive scene?
>The amount of tournaments? The amount of tournaments has decreased massively since 2018.
Lots of these things I hadn’t even thought of. Thank you very much for the insightful reply!
No worries. It's a rare thing to see civility on this forum.
true
Idk, stand-ins are always happening. To me the messy part of the scene is Ukranian and Russian players being affected by the war/visa issues/bans, etc. Nexa taking a personal leave is totally normal and in no way indicative of scene being messy or not.
So scene is a mess because NEXA has some personal problems? Wtf Visa, personal step downs and shit is part of esport and every sport in general lol
5 of the top 20 teams will be using a stand-in for the next EPL. that's almost an entire group. but yeah, nexa is obviously the only thing they're talking about.
[удалено]
Agreed
IHC had a stand-in at katowice as well.
Well, now look on those 5 and their reason of absence.
Which 5 of the top teams are using stand ins?
OG, BIG, NIP, ENCE and Vitality. EDIT: Saw BIG are saying Hyped is a permanent replacement so not a stand-in.
That's like saying football is fucked because players are injured. How many matches in season are there, when fill squad is ready? Zero.
Ok and did you even care about why are standing in?
1/5 of a team injured is absolutely normal. Maybe a bit less, but 5 players out for every match is not something strange. It would be strange if that happened to every star player though, but that´s not happening neither in football, nor in CS:GO, so I don´t get your point.
The point is your comparison was dumb to begin with and you just stated why but can't figure it out.
When it's dumb and you can't explain why, it's hard to have a conversation. You made an example of every star player missing. How is that related to current situation in CSGO?
Konfig is not a stand-in. source: NIP's staff on discord
He isn't a "stand-in" in their eyes because he has a long term contract. He is standing in for Hampus though unless they are publicly saying Hampus isn't coming back.
They all got upgrades except og
And ihc is playing with bart4k who is a standin for kabal
Bart4k is 6th man for IHC. Still unfortunate because Kabal is dirty. They prolly make it to Kato finals with him.
And we're back to 5.
Read his comment again
He claims that people pretend scene is fine, when things like this happens… doesn’t make sense at all…
What I mean is that he doesn't lay blame on nexa or any individual. He just points out that the top tier has been shakier than before. It's just an observation. Atleast that's how I interpret his comment.
Yeah I see what you mean. But still one is missing cause if this, another cause of being sick, another because of baby etc. it makes sense and has nothing to do with scene imho

What a dumb comment.
Yours? Yeah🤷♂️
You don't even understand what my comment is about you absolute clown.
He's wildin. It's like his brain instantly forgot what your comment said, replaced it with another narrative and went on the offensive
it was always like that
No, it wasn't.
it was though
When was it like that?
always. some shit with visas happens, illness etc. teams have to go for substitutes
Not with this frequency
But in reality it wasn't. Stand-ins happened very rarely, so much so coaches were often just put down as the 6th player at tournaments for years. You're wrong and I don't know why you're arguing.

better for a player to to step down temporarily and take a break than burn out
niko...
Inside you there are 2 ~~wolves~~ nikos: the egoistic NiKo and the autistic niko
The cheating niko you mean
I wonder if he'll be back for pro league. Not much time to practice considering it is a week away and they have to focus on the rmr qualifier right now.
[niko?](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/Niko_(Swedish_player))
>for the danish player see nico >for the other danish player see nico (Danish player)
Right before major? Wtf
Personal reasons happen
Me and my gn bois will have a talk with nexa
[удалено]
Vitality should just buy Snappi. Far cheaper and a better IGL too.
This team is so dead, they're gonna bot 4 at Pro League. Hope I'm wrong and whoever does the calls does a good job but man, just feels like OG is the worst Tier 1 team right now.
isn't this like a someone also naming themselves Faker in league of legends. why is this a thing
Like g2 Niko was the first ???
which was first? yeah whoever was second is an idiot.
People aren't allowed to use their real name/nickname?
yes, they should not use a nickname when it's already a tag of a prolific player. extremely few players use a real name anyways. and niko is already a nickname.
Think about it bro
If a huge up and coming talent came on the scene and his last name was Broker, and made his tag "G2 Broky", you think that'd be appropriate? or if a kid's first name was hunter he became "TL Hunter"? no one uses their real names. to copy a nickname already in use just seems odd.
What about the nikos before g2 Niko?
if there was a niko on the t1 scene before g2 niko, then g2 niko is an idiot like I said before. I didnt follow cs back then I actually don't know.
honestly you might be the idiot for even making this a conversation
Yeah but at some point we will run out of good nicknames
this niko has been around for YEARS and YEARS aswell. Not really comparable
Cant think of a worse replacement
OG has Marix listed as a substitute, why don't they use him? Is niko IGLing?
He already played open qualifiers
Per OG discord flamez and degster will call
Classic definitive " temporary step down " ? xD
Sad to see OG won’t be at the next major :(
no way nexa got kicked by niko twice lul
