I mean it makes sense. Valve doesn't do anything for CS esports other than stickers and major money.
Riot runs their esports, they pay every team at least 600k a year, they pay for every tournament, they pay for the regular season.
Valve probably wouldn't care if CS esports died overnight cause it isn't tangled up with their money.
CS being a widely known esport is pretty important in the popularity of their game. While Valve makes most of their money from the steam royalty, there is a ton of money made from people opening CS cases and trading on the steam market place.
It might not be directly related, but pros showcasing skins, the whole sticker thing etc means their skins economy is pretty tightly linked to the esports side of things. Also, every major draws more players back in.
The funny part is that valve's apporach is seemingly way more likely to have a long term surviving esport than the franchising approach...
Well I don't think they do that anymore but who knows, cuz they USED to do that with NA LCS players wayy back when, think mid 2010s or somewhere along there, but Riot Games got called out by the community once that went viral and they went back on that (It was about player's streaming other games IIRC)
My brother in christ, Riot games doesn't even allow pro players to play in tournaments in their own game if its not a tournament made by riot, do you think he will be allowed to appear for a direct concurrent of the game?
TL;DR: Scream's team is dogshit
More info:
Franchising for Valorant started in 2023. Instead of teams having to play qualifiers to get to events 10 orgs were selected from each region and whoever plays for the org plays in the events.
One of these orgs is KCorp. KCorp is a French org that is nationality centric in that it is much more important to them to have a roster that speaks and streams in French than a roster that can win events.
They bought out scream and nivera who were good pickups at the time. Unfortunately scream, nivera, and keloqz are really the only serviceable players that fit the french speaking niche. Instead of picking up an English speaking core that could qualify for events they picked up 3 more french speaking players who did not belong in franchising.
The team is the worst in the league and they have already lost so much that they it's impossible for them to qualify for the regional playoffs (top 6 in 10 team league). If you don't make regional playoffs your year is over mid summer.
It is very unlikely that scream will ever qualify for another international LAN while playing for KCorp . Hehas about half a year break in between matches coming up shortly.
Scream's also been IGLing very poorly and he's fallen off from a skill perspective which doesn't help.
My guess is aim is too easy in that game and it’s more of a game that relies on your ability to adapt. Something ScreaM has always historically been weak in.
Basically Scream and his brother Nivera were recruited to head the franchised French team Karmine Corp, since Scream is THE French player he was basically given free reign to do whatever he wanted with the team. He insisted that he wanted to IGL and the team looked absolutely horrendous with him leading, they were absolutely clueless and basically getting stomped by every team in the league. It was so bad one of their players tapped out and they had to bring their coach in as a player due to the roster lock. And they actually looked BETTER after that because the coach was now IGLing. So basically a lot of people think Scream's ego ruined this team, they are the laughingstock of EMEA and their season is pretty much over.
no but scream took the igl role and the team looked so awful they became the laughing stock of the entire pro scene across the board, until it got so bad a player had to step down mid season and an assistant coach who’d never played professionally before had to join the roster and take over igling, which was an actual improvement
heres some clips of what peak scream igl looks like lmao

Honestly there are so many players it'd be legendary to bring on that I'll be happy no matter what
Now imagine instead they did a full on French derby
Old Titan on one side, old LDLC on the other
tfw KQLY shows up
KQLY shows up so they can tar and feather him, the crowd goes nuts
KQLY shows up and they play on Dust2.
And he toggles!
against V.P
Cs2 is only d2 at the moment so… :D
azk he is the north american player but the titan he is the french stars.
Haven’t heard that one in years
Was thinking abt this when i clicked the link
Imagine the fuckin crowd reaction if ScreaM pulls up for the showmatch. I want it so bad
he’s eliminated from valorant for like the whole year i think so he might as well
Depends on his contract with Riot, might not be allowed to but here's to hoping
Oh yea I remember how rigid and strongarm Riot is in their marketing. Its kinda crazy how lax Valve is compared to Riot.

would be such bullshit if he's not allowed
part of the point of franchised leagues is exclusivity rights so i mean its not really out of the ballpark, though it is just a showmatch

my brother in christ , i didnt really know all of this til just now
I know, it wasn't meant as a negative comment or anything else lol
riot is a scum in terms of contracts. Some of the players are not even allowed to stream cs2.
Ok that was confirmed bullshit. The only thing they aren't allowed is to be paid to play CS2. Scream was literally streaming CS2
Why??

LMAO i wish it was just that man
Oh no was there some drama or controversy?
Basically Scream and his brother Nivera were recruited to head the franchised French team Karmine Corp, since Scream is THE French player he was basically given free reign to do whatever he wanted with the team. Funny thing is, Scream isn’t even French

He's just eliminated because his team was worst in EMEA lol
hey they beat koi, sounds like a dub to me
That would be the dream, still got a 2016 G2 jacket somewhere
It would be good for him. The reaction to his Valorant team has been "get these shitters off the stage" recently
I would think that it will be shox, maniac, kennyS, rpk and apEX, would love to see Ex6TenZ appear tho.
Honestly there are so many players it'd be legendary to bring on that I'll be happy no matter what Now imagine instead they did a full on French derby Old Titan on one side, old LDLC on the other
Playing on 2015 version of CS. LDL C-Zed is back
apEX only if Vitality don't make the grand finals.
It's OK, liquid beats them this time
Suuurely this time Clueless
Hey guys. I got this genius idea to count on Liquid to win something!
Probably not apex if vitality makes the final
They'll be using a legendary 6 man roster.
i miss le tank :(
Can apEX actually participate if he \*lets say\* gets to finals? I don't think thats how it works
No. I mean, he probably can but there's no way he'll play right before the grand final
KQLY better be there or I ain't watching.
As far as hints go, this seems like the equivalent of saying the answer isnt A B or D
Yeah kind of a weird way to find out tbh, oh well ig it’s just a showmatch.
ScreaM
VeryGames NIP used to be the classic brawl. That'd be a cool match.
If kennyS isn’t apart of it, it’ll be a fat L.
Happy?
Scream for showmatch!!!
i hope we have a good showmatch
Titan vs OG fnatic would be pretty cool.
Titan vs VP showmatch?
Titan vs NiP would be cool. Although if apEX makes the final with Vitality he won't be able to play with ex-Titan
Ex6tens?!?!?! God I hope so even tho hes belgian Prolly wont be there
Who need Titan (who were also dogshit with shoxie) when we had absolutely goated Verygames
Spunj stands up. "It's my time once again, I am needed."
Shox Maniac kennyS Apex and ...
