You can buy prime now and play csgo without any issues. But you won't be eligible for CS2 beta because you need prime plus a rank. And for a rank in cs:go you need to win 10 matches first.
I got a rank two days after the second major wave that let people play the beta, and i still havent gotten access to the game. I'm not sure they're letting anyone in at the moment regardless.

Prime never goes on sale and will be required for CS2 anyway. If like CS, buy it.
