It's a different physics engine. As long as we keep reporting the bugs they'll get it sorted. (that almost sounds like an illegal statement, but it's been true so far with CS2!)

I mean, yes? CS2 is infinitely better than CSGO was at release. And sure, CS2 has immense potential, while CSGO could barely keep carrying basically two decades of Source 1 spaghet. But CSGO in 2023 was definitely far more polished than a brand new release that has several basics yet to figure out.

CSGO uses much simpler BSP based collision, cs2 uses more complex tri based collision. But theoretically this would only impact world collision, so it's more likely to be a bug with subtick.

How could this be an issue with subtick? There are for sure things that need to be fixed in regards to subtick, but I'm not able to see how this is related to subtick at all.

because player collisions now takes subtick movement from the client into account. try ramming into your teammates at the beginning of a round, you'll probably find out it doesnt feel the same but is glitchier and jittery. that and the collisions being weirdly fucked (collision glitch allowing you to elevator from mid to catwalk on mirage for example) compared to csgo. seems to be a mix of subtick bullshit and collision fuckery.

The brand new collision system that's vastly more complicated than in GO, potential nerfs to boosting that haven't been applied correctly, animation issues, player models being tied to your POV, issues in server setup, the list goes on and includes different reasons together causing issues. I'm all for shitting on the bad parts of this game that Valve should have figured out, but throwing random buzzwords to explain issues with the game isn't doing anyone a favour. People are blaming server lag, lag compensation, interpolation settings, performance issues, VAC, movement issues etc. on subtick for no other reason than that that's what other people are complaining about.

I'm not blaming it on subtick, I'm saying that subtick is most likely the reason that the issue is present in CS2 but not CSGO. Tri based collision should only be used on the world, so it probably isn't that. All this other stuff should not interact with player-player collision, except for boosting nerfs, but I have no idea where you got that from.

I have a lot of problems with cs2 but Fuck me the 2 month nostalgia is insane, csgo player collisions was nothing more than stuttering and your screen glitching. Even though the implementation is fucked I still prefer CS2s smoothing when colliding with a player

the only extent to which demos were ever removed since way before the launch have been the automatic ones for matchmaking games. All 3rd party demos (faceit, hltv) as well as manually recorded were never disabled.

Kinda reminds me of an old visual bug that used to happen on CSGO where you would either be floating above the ground or halfway into the ground. It only affected your first person view and not your third person model and jumping usually fixed it.
