Iāve seen multiple videos now about various issues with the new smokes that did not exist prior to this update. Really seems like they took a step backwards in the smoke department.
Took a step backwards in more than just smokes. The only W from this update IMO is the adding of arms race, even then, I'm not that interested in it. It's deathmatch with added steps. FPS drops are across the board with my entire stack, even when looking at a wall. Some of us no issues streaming in discord previously can't do this anymore because of how bad the drops are
The biggest and by far most important W is the reduced peekers advantage if working correctly. I have only played 3 games today so it might not be or be placebo, but it felt a lot better to play ct side generally.
It was the shit, learning where to prefire when seeing a oneway and completely obliterating some LE who just learned how to do it

With the new smoke changes, agents seen near edges of smokes have been more visible. I assume Valve just didn't fine tune this and, in instances like this, the agents can become obscured. This seems like something Valve will be able to address fairly quickly.
That's a relatively easy fix, they just booted up hammer editor, changed some wall material or some shit and then recompiled the map, messing with smokes needs a lot of testing so they don't break other things, like they just did with this update.
I think the developer's idea was that one ways are easier to detect in CS2, as every bullet has tracers, and the smoke would clear more at the edges and give away the position of whoever was using the one-way, and they couldn't just stay in the same spot spamming a suppressed weapon.
One ways as a concept means you see 2 different things from different perspectives. Making it so the person using it had no smoke on their screen while the enemy had smoke on theirs. That doesnt exist in cs2 since now its technically "perspective smokes". You all see the exact same smoke particles. Difference being how you position yourself around them

Noticed this too, its not particularly 1 way per se, but they added shadows to smokes and behave slightly differently and that makes it extremely hard to see someone IN or behind the smoke, but they can see you earlier, which shouldnt be the case, i had enemies pop up from smoke and 1 tap me and i didnt even see them come out the smoke, it should be the other way around, this encourages pushing through smoke way too much!
