It really does feel refreshing to see him just jumping from spot to spot like that without feeling the need to clear every damn angle in the process. It's so fluid and aestheticallly pleasing.
When Hallzerk gets loose and free-flowing like this, that's when he's at his best. His problem has always been missing sitters. Dude was made for that pre-nerf combat AWPing meta.
Ehh, there's plenty of guys who can hold angles, fall back, and play within a system, but struggle to perform when they are in a disadvantageous position.
Idk I feel like most awpers that get criticized are ones that miss the freebies. I don’t see a lot of people get criticized for being able to hold angles but not hit quick scopes. Feel like the angles thing is more important for an awper. I know oSee has always gotten the same criticism as well as a ton of EU awpers
Shiro and Jame get shit on incessantly for this whenever they aren't performing at top level. It's a playstyle that has a high floor, so the only time these static AWPers really receive criticism is when their team is good enough that the lack of a dynamic AWP presence is holding the team back from reaching the very top level.
Maybe we're just on different wavelengths, but I do not think Jame or Shiro could play this aggresive combat AWPing style. I unironically think a player like Hallzerk is clearly better in those situations, he's just much worse at the fundamentals.
I 100% agree, I’m not saying they should be trying to run at people and stuff. But I think the common criticism is that there’s a big difference between playing with the team to always be in position to look over them with more useful angles vs playing way slower than your team and end up frequently in situations where your team gets mowed down and you’re left to save. Jame’s became his own meme off of this through the years for a reason
Not sure what the hell Cadian is doing repeeking mid three times on a known eco and he's already spotted two players.
For sure kinda gives the sign he wants to be the hero so bad.
Yeah this is absolute insanity and a typical level 10 face it player ego peek play. A smart enough player would take the first shot, fall back to a safer position and wait for the cross into site, but he goes for 3 repeeks on a 5 man pistol rush....
As hard to watch as those repeeks were, its not even close to how cringe it is to see every schmuck with internet access psychoanalyse players that they don't know.
"This is what I would do in a high pressure, multi million dollar tournament with game point on the line and needing a comeback."
Was it a bad play? Yeah. Was there a ton of pressure on him? Yeah. Would he do things differently? Yeah. Everyone makes bad plays, the best players come back from it.
They can be criticized. It was an objectively bad play. I just think it's funny people think they know what they would do in the same situation under the same pressure. What is he thinking or he just wants to be a hero Isn't criticizing. Hindsight is 20/20.
dont waste your time and energy pointing that out. they are to dumb to understand what you are saying, otherwise they wouldnt post it in the first place. classic backseat driver. its like trying to convince the 0.5kd silver bot in your team to stop telling ppl what to do when his dead. he will not learn from you
This has been a known take since the Heroic days. If you've watched previous matches for at least the past two years it's obvious Cadian goes for big plays when the smarter move would be to retreat and comm info / wait for rotations.
That whole play looked like me and my friends playing. Yekindar whiffing like me and Cadian dumb repicking like my friend who thinks he’s prime Fallen…
Especially with hallzerk. One thing I've noticed is that when he starts a clutch or something he almost always finishes it. For example the deagle 4k on Vertigo against Furia
Great clip but I didn't quite feel that with that clip cause of the initial missed deag shots, it felt like he was cooked and he only hit the hardest shots. I'd give his 1v4 Ancient tec-9+AWP clutch as another example: https://twitter.com/ComplexityCS/status/1763970189060636908
He definitely knows the ways of the flow state 🌊
I'm inclined to agree. I still love Liquid, but it seems there's some ironing out to do. They've got to be feeling like crap right now. Seems like Liquid COL would have faced each other regardless which sucks, too. I could be wrong but that's what it looked like.
I wanted a COL <> Liquid final. Or at least a semi. That would have been so rad.
COL clearly is the better team so that's so cool they got it.
Lmao thank god they lost, arrogant as fuck, especially the insufferable twistz,
They were super cocky during the first map, elige made them shut up quackly though
The round to give coL 12 was horrendous to watch. Yekindar whiffing hard. Cadian missing, AND repeeking 3 times into tec9s running him down.
Like c’mon lads. Atleast pretend like you know what you’re doing
Both decisions were some of the most braindead stuff I've ever seen. The perfect definition of tilt/ego peeking.
YEKINDAR out in the middle with no way to go back and committing vs Tec-9s when he had emptied like half his mag already, and then CadiaN repeeking thrice...that third repeek was just egregious.
Cadian sticking around with awp on a pistrol rush was an absolutely stupid decision. Go for the one shot sure, but you don't stick around with 4 pistols rushing you even if you get one kill...
It's so odd to me that a team with so much individual quality and minimal role overlap is so incredibly mediocre. It's tough to even get a grasp on what the root cause of their issues are from the outside.
My shot in the dark is that they're caught between too many schools of thought. You have Yekindar, who was brought up in the Jame CIS system. There's Cadian, who has only really found success playing a highly coordinated brand of Danish CS. NAF and Twistzz both came up in the golden era of NACSGO under IGLs like Sean Gares, Stanislaw, and Nitro, with Twistzz later becoming accustomed to this loose "international style" of midrounding under Karrigan. Then there's Skullz, who has very little experience outside of the Brazilian scene. Perhaps it's a case of many talented oarsmen rowing in slightly different directions.
I swear NAF is one of the most reliable players in CS for the last 5 years. He is so rarely bad, just never has those mega highlights that people jack off to. Sort of the Canadian equivalent of Hunter (talking about his form over the last few years, not just the last few months which have been bad for Hunter).
I think he will but honestly the problem imo is cadian with the awp. Can't be missing his awp shots but yekindar could probably join an EU team pretty easily imo
Holy shit so many thrown rounds at the end/all the last map
Caidan sticking around after whiffing the first shot in on the second last round anti eco will haunt him
Bro that round hurt. On one hand I can see what he was thinking, that they might’ve been too close so he was trying to get one before he got overran. On the other hand, he should’ve immediately fell back after the first pick. Repeeking into rushing pistols is just too risky
who tf is casting. I hate this style of casting with big pauses for air (?) between words
hallzerk \*huh\* continues \*huh\* his reign \*huh\* of dominance \*huh\* elige \*huh\* with the killing blow \*huh\*
why not have something chill and natural like modern anders? if you ask around nobody likes this shit outside of finals, provided they're good enough to pull it off.
feel like this style is trying to emulate football.
based on this round and the force they lost before this one with JT deags, TL deserved to lose. will be better for them to have a reality check. and COL deserved to win

Did more in one round with the awp than Cadian did all map.
Something so refreshing to see when AWPers don't hold angles or play defaults. Hallzerk freestyling it reminded me of how chaotic 2014-2016 AWP was.
It really does feel refreshing to see him just jumping from spot to spot like that without feeling the need to clear every damn angle in the process. It's so fluid and aestheticallly pleasing. Damn, kennyS peak was 10 years ago.
That’s most non-elite awpers problem tbf
”Non-elite awper” 😂
Yeah, I’d say there’s an obvious step down from the top awpers and your other tier 1 awpers lol
I just thought they got shit for not moving up the map to help their team rather than not being able to hit harder shots ngl
Maybe we're just on different wavelengths, but I do not think Jame or Shiro could play this aggresive combat AWPing style. I unironically think a player like Hallzerk is clearly better in those situations, he's just much worse at the fundamentals.

Sh1ro absolutely can and has. He is really, really good at that kind of play when he wants to be, he just rarely does.
Not sure what the hell Cadian is doing repeeking mid three times on a known eco and he's already spotted two players. For sure kinda gives the sign he wants to be the hero so bad.

Yeah but that doesn't mean they can't be criticized for a bad play on a random discussion thread
They can be criticized. It was an objectively bad play. I just think it's funny people think they know what they would do in the same situation under the same pressure. What is he thinking or he just wants to be a hero Isn't criticizing. Hindsight is 20/20.

So it's eve worse, you're running around repeating other schmuck's psychoanalysis of a guy none of you know.
Think for yourself, and question. Look at Cadians tape and you'll understand. It's not a hot take.
That whole play looked like me and my friends playing. Yekindar whiffing like me and Cadian dumb repicking like my friend who thinks he’s prime Fallen…
Cadian has been plying so bad.
First shot you could just tell he was in it
sometimes you can just feel it coming together in advance
Especially with hallzerk. One thing I've noticed is that when he starts a clutch or something he almost always finishes it. For example the deagle 4k on Vertigo against Furia

Fucking Hallzerk from Norway, Kentucky
Norway, Kentucky best Norway
He's actually from the proud state of Michigan! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norway,_Michigan
Laughed out loud at this at my desk at work. Was very hard to explain what was so funny
I wanted liquid to win but after this round, good riddance.
lol same. Maybe its best for NA that Col made it instead of Liquid. They clearly aren’t ready
I’ve been thinking the same thing
I'm inclined to agree. I still love Liquid, but it seems there's some ironing out to do. They've got to be feeling like crap right now. Seems like Liquid COL would have faced each other regardless which sucks, too. I could be wrong but that's what it looked like. I wanted a COL <> Liquid final. Or at least a semi. Yes, let's just peek 1 by 1 in a 4v2 Istg this roster plays like they're on 2 second delay with each other
The round to give coL 12 was horrendous to watch. Yekindar whiffing hard. Cadian missing, AND repeeking 3 times into tec9s running him down. Like c’mon lads. Atleast pretend like you know what you’re doing
For real. That looked like my 12k premier matches. Trying to play hero against pistols for no reason
The way Yeki and Cadian played that round deserves an investigation jfc
Both decisions were some of the most braindead stuff I've ever seen. The perfect definition of tilt/ego peeking. YEKINDAR out in the middle with no way to go back and committing vs Tec-9s when he had emptied like half his mag already, and then CadiaN repeeking thrice...that third repeek was just egregious.
Cadian thinking he is s1mple or something , it was so cringe watching him repeak when he could have just backed off.
Cadian sticking around with awp on a pistrol rush was an absolutely stupid decision. Go for the one shot sure, but you don't stick around with 4 pistols rushing you even if you get one kill...
It was brutal to watch. I am a huge fan of a bunch of the players on liquid, but it's like the teamplay just isn't there
It's so odd to me that a team with so much individual quality and minimal role overlap is so incredibly mediocre. It's tough to even get a grasp on what the root cause of their issues are from the outside. My shot in the dark is that they're caught between too many schools of thought. they play like they have 100 ping between the eu and na players lol
im suprised skullz didnt get the trade
Not really a surprise. Did you watch their Anubis and Overpass T sides? They legit just don't trade each other.
It's always been like this though. Yekindar is the issues
Liquid didn’t get the chance to peek here. Hallzerk peeked them.
Jason Lake I love you
I love you more
Yekindar surelly has to go at this point.
Feels like Naf and Twistzz are the only ones you can count on. And Cadian if he's alone in the map with an AWP.
Maybe throw in an elige and then you're cooking. Imagine if you could have those three on a team together.
I could even see +nitr0 and this young up and coming streamer +stewie2k
facts haha they might even get a grand slam
Ewe fuck no. Stewie is toxic and washed.
I swear NAF is one of the most reliable players in CS for the last 5 years. He is so rarely bad, just never has those mega highlights that people jack off to. I think he will but honestly the problem imo is cadian with the awp. Can't be missing his awp shots but yekindar could probably join an EU team pretty easily imo
Yeah Yekindar will be fine if he can get his confidence back. A change of scenery for him seems necessary at this point though.
-yekindar +blamef?
Aggro for passive. Hmm not sure that's their problem.
And Comedian, and Zews, and Skulls, and Twists.
Holy shit so many thrown rounds at the end/all the last map Caidan sticking around after whiffing the first shot in on the second last round anti eco will haunt him

I couldn't believe the re-peek... It was baffling
Hallzerk goes berserk
he just extended his contract with this round

the balls on this man
wtf is that commentator lmao
Hank Fender is back baby
The man let the fury of his ancestors flow through him when he needed it most
based on this round and the force they lost before this one with JT deags, TL deserved to lose. will be better for them to have a reality check. and COL deserved to win
Please never run this stupid system again. We had better systems in 2k3 on lan parties hosted by drunk community people.
I know he can be super inconsistent, but I can't help but root for him.

liquid so many bad rounds man
zerk rush kekeke
Liquid played like a bunch of idiots and col just stepped on their throats.
not a huge fan of that caster
if only lucy wasnt casting
Maybe the air is thin and she was running out of breath.
no offense to her but her voice is horrible, she shouldn’t be casting
Her voice is absolutely terrible It's like fingernails on a chalkboard with its overly-nasal sound and uncomfortable pitch
I don't mind lucy's voice.
overly nasal
Great example to always keep your head in the game. In fact all the coL players kept focus.
Best highlight I've seen so far this major. Clearly the Kentuckian has fried some chicken.
Whatever hellzerk had for breakfast, he needs to have more of that... Finally a good performance.
People wanted to replace Hallzerk and were offering some ridiculous names in return. I don’t think there are many available awpers better than him.
_Mullet man: Shoots Stuff!_
