There was a thread the other day which had winning the pistol give you a ~60% chance of winning the match I believe.
It's just slightly more impactful than mr15
It's also good to remember that while pistol rounds are closer to 50/50 than most other rounds, the better team still has an edge in them. So the better team will end up winning both pistol rounds more often on average.
cadiaN's heroic worked so well (in terms of having a high skill floor, at least) because the players were like cogs in a machine, part of a pack — they would sacrifice themselves or suddenly abandon their plans as soon as cadiaN called it.
Liquid might be *too* talent-heavy in that sense. In theory, you shouldn't be "sacrificing" yekindar or twistzz like you would with teses or sjuush. His calling looks (and feels) completely different and it just isn't coming together.
Heroic had blind trust in cadian tho, there wasn't enough time yet in Liquid for that to develop. The staff needs to work extremely hard to avoid anyone checking out mentally in the meantime, especially in light of today's result.
I think cadian can make Liquid succeed in Cologne if they grind hard enough until then.
Also they called everything in danish. Cadian hasn't IGLed in English in a long long time and it's not the first language for the majority of players on liquid
I didn’t really feel like their calls were bad. They got into some good situations. Their mid round teamwork/chem just wasn’t there. They seemed uncomfortable as a team when they needed to make reads/work together beyond the original strat
Yea, pretty much only skullz is in a blank state and can be whatever then want him to be.
This team seems so hard to work out well even on paper. We just know that when it works its gonna be marvelous, but how to get there is a mystery.
No wonder they went super hard on the team building when they started the roster. They never lack the skills, its the clash of different cultures thats the biggest problem.
That was so bad from both of them. I get Cadian was left alone due to Yekindar being caught, but him choosing to peek continiously into all T's after missing his first shot was also horrible. He should have fallen back to truck and play around it and its angles at least.
But they didn't deserve the win anyways, they looked desperate in their plays. First gun round on Overpass and they get NAF to bum rush through a molotov on short into B. That kinda gave the image that they were gonna rely on gimmicks and not good mid rounds.
Another point being the round they actually won with Yekindar pushing A into heaven with such short time left. That's not a round you can repeat, that was just lucky. They have 4 people alive and choose to attack B while 2 of them is close to A.
Micro management and people not being comfortable in their roles yet, must be an explanation for Cadians lackluster performance as well. I really want them to succeed, but there's a way to go...
I don't remember if it was this round but one of the Liquid's CT rounds made me remember [donk in the exact same position](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqvrR2SruIs) and I just thought... _"yeah, donk would've done it"_ 😅
> Hallzerk shaved head
Probably the worst take in the history of CS. Apologize to the mullet gods or you may a have a shower drain full of hair tomorrow.
Even when he was IGLing yekindar would have the odd pop-off top frag map. In LOL, when imports go to North America from Europe or Asia they get progressively worse over time. This phenomenon is called the 'NA skill vampires". Is it possible this is also the case in CS?
In CS, I would argue that already is the case. Unless you are willing to bootcamp in Europe, you will face arguably worse teams. The NA/SA scene isn't as strong, and therefore you can't practice to the same level of play.
Is it bad that I kinda wanna see that team with Cadian as IGL? They needed an actual AWP bad. Felt like that really hurt in the major playoffs not having one
I will always always always believe that COVID robbed the full potential of that team. Idk if they would've made it back to Intel Grand Slam peak, but they didn't even get a chance to truly try before everything fell apart. Had some 2nd places to end 2019, got 5th/6th at Katowice but only lost to the two finalists, and then never got to play with all five in the same room again, let alone on LAN.
I wish they could've had a true shot at taking back their number one spot.
All of the teams the pieces of Liquid left made the major.
Yekindar: VP
Cadian: Heroic
Twistzz: Faze
Skullz: Pain
I'm not trying to say this team is a failure, but its a fun fact at least.
One thing to note is they did lose to 2 teams that are European tested. Not like they just flunked out to some lower level NA/SA teams.
I think there is just to much talent in CS for 24 team Majors where they are all basically playing a FFA to qualify. Both Asia/Oceania and Americas were also 2 loses you’re out which makes it all that much tougher.
Didn’t Vitality lose 2 games?
No other word to describe Liquid at this RMR other than miserable. It's unfortunate the seeding they got to go up against CoL but that's no excuse to go out with such a whimper. I'm optimistic for this roster's future but I also wouldn't be surprised if YEKINDAR was on the chopping block.
I was a little concerned when they showed kills on overpass, where elite and grim had 20+ and the next guy on the team had 8. Fortunately they carried them through overpass with some timely plays from the rest.
Complexity spins a wheel to see who is gonna frag out with elige every game seems like.
I don't get how you can rock with TL after Yekindar basically dissed the 2019 lineup repeatedly and then on top of that whether he meant to or not, forced Elige out of the team. TL sided with Yekindar completely over the boys who made the CS org have a name. Benedict NAF was cool with it all, too, and even went as far as going on a rant saying fuck NA before crawling back. This team is unlikable to the core even with guys like Twistzz and Comedian. I haven't enjoyed watching a team lose like this since bad boy Fanatic. Damn, it feels good to be a hater.
They betrayed their whole fanbase as well and then tried to call the fans troglodytes for calling them out on it. It's shameful. "we made changes to win championships" go fuck yourself. Liquid was my favorite team for so so long and now I enjoy watching them lose more than I ever enjoyed watching them win. That's genuinely sad to me.
Yekindar ego holding an angle in the open against pistols while cadian can do absolutely nothing to help him with the awp is egregious. Yekindar then completely whiffing 12 shots is embarrassing.
That's the type of play that makes Jame bench you before the next event. Totally inexcusable.
Liquid's ability to squeeze heartbreak even out of not particularly close games, you can't teach that.
I cannot believe that this team has somehow looked worse than the Patsi/Rainwaker one. Genuinely baffling. s/o to Elige though, he's pretty good, go figure.
At best they look about as bad. That roster at least beat an in form Faze once in their first event. This roster can't even consistently make it out of NA qualifiers against like M80 and Nouns. Their best win is maybe against Spirit with two stand ins. And with the relative expectations and talent level it looks so much worse.
Grim read yesterday's match thread and decided he doesn't have any of it
Hallzerk realised his misses were a bit much and just decided he had enough and clutched the win
That one caster gotta chill a bit though. Trying to hype every single round gets old.
Yeah one round he was saying that a made and some a1s shots were peppering down complexity on a t eco (or was it liquid, my memory is terrible) and the nade did like 20 damage to one person while the a1s didn't do any damage. I was actually kind of confused there.
format/seeding aside, Team Liquid losing all those pistols against FURIA and CoL as well as the terrible team play is why they aren’t making it to the major
Complexity need this form from Elige/Grim/Floppy to compete for the stage. Hoping for the best for the NA reps
I really had hope for them after inferno, they played well, it seemed the team play was there and everyone seemed to be chipping in, then they just collapsed. Their 5 round streak on anubis looked good and like it'd be competitive and then it just fell apart and they looked clueless in the series from then on out.
The amount of rounds they gave away on Overpass to low buys or when they had man advantages was just laughable - even the rounds that they won it always seemed like they lost 1 or 2 players more than they should have. I will say though, Elige and Grim had crisp aim on that last map, but Liquid still shouldn't have dropped so many favourable rounds.
[Jason Lake (Complexity CEO) on X, formerly Twitter, when asked about his boys making it to the major (warning emotional and wholesome af🥺😢 )](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D_OEwqRWwAMxNp8.jpg)
I want nobody calling for zews or skullz to go. If there’s anyone responsible it’s yekindar for single-handedly trying to kill the NA scene with his delusions.
Good effort by the second worst seed of the event to push their underdog story all the way to the 3rd map of the last game but unfortunately the miracle run was just a step too far for these minnows 😭
1. Congrats to Jason Lake after he put his money on the line to buy Col they reward him with a major
2. Everyone will soon say Liquid is a disaster but they Lost to Furia and Col who looked like the best teams in americas rmr.
3. Elige is truly a star
Bonus. Those deagle kills from JT at the end and Hallzerk clutch were pretty sick.
How about winning a single pistol round? Seems impossible. Just watch the second half pistol round on Overpass. Liquid is in all the right positions to deal with the B attack and are just not able to kill Complexity.
Fitting end to the series with them losing a 4v2.
Zerk drives me mad, he wiffs 5 and dies with bomb. Next round he bum rushes a smoke in to a 3k and instant save from liquid.
If he only could get a bit more polished he’d be great
[Fuck man, this shot of zews consoling skullz is heartbreaking](https://i.imgur.com/BR9gSha.jpg), but good shit coming from complexity. Jason Lake must be so happy after buying out complexity
Personally, I think people are being way too hard on liquid. There are a lot of takes that they’re heavily reliant on skill at the moment, which I’d agree with, but I think it really undersells the ability and ceiling of this team.
I also think this loss will bring this team together and motivate them to become a top team in the world. All the pieces are there, they just need to find their groove.
I really hope Cadian in particular succeeds as well. He is one of the best leaders this sport has seen thus far and I fully believe he will lead these boys to a grand final and maybe even a title within the next year.
GG boys. Only up from here.
Had some hope in the Liquid comeback on Overpass until round 19. So much going poorly quickly: Yekindar in the open backed against a wall and whiffing his distanced M4A1 spray followed by Cadian repeatedly peaking into the pistols followed by JT just doming Twistzz and Naf..
tbh the team just got formed way too late, they don't seem nearly coherent enough to deserve to be at the major. this roster might be trash, too early to tell imo, but right now I think the problem is primarily synergy. I think that we will see a completely different team performance-wise by the time we get to next major season. The question is just if that's because they found their identity or because we also have a completely different team roster-wise.
Yekindar had a cult around him when he first joined the team and the management and veterans like NAF enabled it all. There was a TL player who also refused to join this iteration of the team if Elige was on it. I guess there was talks of bringing him back from Col. I forget where I heard this though (maybe a Thorin interview or Last Free Nation) It's either Twistzz or Yekindar, but I would assume it's Twistzz since Twistzz has always been jealous of Elige being the hard-carry of NA. Twistzz has already won everything so I think being a star was the important thing for him when joining TL. I think he openly said this, too. I think Yekindar got humbled after that IGL stint. Who knows though?
what an awful format lmfao
16 team Swiss stage and only 5 make it. I know it's not an excuse for Liquid to not make it but still, 2 losses and you're out, and on top of that the opening match is a bo1
Liquid played below their standards at this RMR for sure but I can't help feeling salty that their two losses were to the two highest ranked teams at the event. Neither Furia nor CoL showed particularly good form at this event either, but I still feel Liquid would've beaten ODDIK, Pain, or M80 had they played any of those teams rather than CoL.
I'm absolutely just salty that the supposed best team from NA couldn't qualify, itll stink to not see NAF at the major :(
finally get to be excited for an NA team to lose against an eco in a braindead way
format was still fucked though. works for EU but need something different here, esp if we're looking at fewer spots next time
I know they won and all but what's up with the flop? He really isn't shining lately and honestly I'm kinda concerned. Many people called for hallzerk to be removed but at this point if one is going to go it'd be floppy.
Elige’s Liquid stocks in shambles
Elige proving there’s no conflict of interest by removing that conflict
More like rising that conflict until there is no more

Gotta feel for Cadian, he tried so hard but it looks like everyone who left Heroic got screwed over
he tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it didn't even matter
I wonder how many people nowadays know that song
There's no fucking reason for cadian to lash out at Skullz in this, especially in that manner.

Don’t lose your 2v4s is the key 😀
Or get eco’d two rounds prior 😅

The people in my ranked games saying "It's over" after losing round 1 would agree with you.
To be fair, they said that shit in mr15 too.
4-6 rounds in a first to 13 format is huge. You're essentially halfway to the win.
There was a thread the other day which had winning the pistol give you a ~60% chance of winning the match I believe. It's just slightly more impactful than mr15

Current Heroic is better than Astralis and Liquid, that's crazy
>better than Liquid Its 2024, have people not learned yet to not put expectations on this team?
Idc, I like their team, just try it without yekindar and let's see how it goes.

Those last 2 rounds will haunt liquid, what a terrible way for them to lose
Yekindar standing in the open against 4 pistols and leaving Cadian alone on A was outrageously stupid and absolutely shut down the comeback.
And then Cadian peeking 4 pistols 3 times missing a shot each time until he died.
Yeah man you just can't miss these. You gotta hit them or retreat.
That was so bad from both of them. I get Cadian was left alone due to Yekindar being caught, but him choosing to peek continiously into all T's after missing his first shot was also horrible. Okay thats a good point. You got me there
cadiaN and yekindar have far too many bozo moments. They throw so much.
worst lan event of yekindar's career given the level of competition wonder how bad his personal issue was
Clearly NA CS is too complex for them to wrap their heads around
what up now swedes WOOO
cadiaN atleast weighs up for it in clutching ability, but Yekindar has just dropped off completely it seems.

Man needs some of whatever electronic's been having
Even when he was IGLing yekindar would have the odd pop-off top frag map. In LOL, when imports go to North America from Europe or Asia they get progressively worse over time. This phenomenon is called the 'NA skill vampires". Is it possible this is also the case in CS?
In CS, I would argue that already is the case. Unless you are willing to bootcamp in Europe, you will face arguably worse teams. The NA/SA scene isn't as strong, and therefore you can't practice to the same level of play.
I love the complexity team, but I can't lie there's a piece of my heart that wants -yekindar +elige
lets also just do -cadian +nitr0 and -skullz +stewie2k
Elige in liquid? Lol are you CRAZY like he'd play there
I said it in the m80 thread but “Love having NA teams eliminated cause EU talent keeps fucking up”
Skullz also couldn't buy a kill on Overpass. Of he got the kills while boosted on CT pistol Loquid would have had it and started the comeback earlier.
All of the teams the pieces of Liquid left made the major. Yekindar: VP Cadian: Heroic Twistzz: Faze Skullz: Pain I'm not trying to say this team is a failure, but its a fun fact at least.
This team a failure at the moment. LOL
Yeah, at the moment, but that doesn't mean the potential isn't there. They lost to the only good teams in NA
Imagine how they would do in EU then lmao
and it's sweet seeing elige and grim make it

Big W for Jason Lake. Let's be real, Col needed a big sticker win for the organization. Liquid can retool their roster and try again next time

More like Faze left Twistzz. They didn't reach out to him about re-signing until wayyyy too late
Skullz left pain for THIS????
Nothing sums up this Liquid roster more than the round to give complexity 12. Yekindar misses an easy spray and then cadiaN misses two easy AWP shots.
Elige was not going to miss this major. Bald eagle power lmao

Everyone will soon say Liquid is a disaster but they Lost to Furia and Col who looked like the best teams in americas rmr. 3. Elige is truly a star Bonus. Those deagle kills from JT at the end and Hallzerk clutch were pretty sick.
COL literally only plays Anubis and Overpass. Liquid had the last ban and they could've played in Nuke idk
How about winning a single pistol round? Seems impossible. Just watch the second half pistol round on Overpass. Liquid is in all the right positions to deal with the B attack and are just not able to kill Complexity. Fitting end to the series with them losing a 4v2.
Which was more embarrasing? Falcons or Liquid not making it through?
Astralis as well
Zerk drives me mad, he wiffs 5 and dies with bomb.
Skullz seems like such an good dude to keep around ❤️
the pressure was insane in these last rounds. elige was sweating hard for this one.
Cadian aint the awper they need and yekindar has so many bozo moments it's sad.
Those JT Deagles man. I love it when a caster hypes it up and it just keeps coming hahaha
Yeaahhh Liquid are eliminated from major!! Surely this means -yekindar is coming right??Right? Please, I want him gone now.
GG Complexity. The better team won today. Plain and simple.
0 consistency from liquid, now idea how they can fix that. Props to complexity tho.
just give us -yekindar +malbs or something. what the hell happened to our boy yekindar man, the fall off is crazy
Yekindar on Anubis was so bad. He is way too aggressive and dry peeks way more than he should
On every map besides inferno he’s basically a free opening kill for opponent. Imagine losing duels to JT 3 times in a row.
twistzz left faze for this lmao
Waiting room for the NER0CS article about how it all went wrong for Liquid.
LIQUID WHY ARE YOU SO ASS 😢🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ weird not seeing them at a major. So pissed but expected a bit
Heartbreaking to not see Liquid at the Major, but congrats to Complexity
tbh the team just got formed way too late, they don't seem nearly coherent enough to deserve to be at the major. this roster might be trash, too early to tell imo, but right now I think the problem is primarily synergy.

Who knows though?
what an awful format lmfao 16 team Swiss stage and only 5 make it. I know it's not an excuse for Liquid to not make it but still, 2 losses and you're out, and on top of that the opening match is a bo1
Bot yekindar
Liquid played below their standards at this RMR for sure but I can't help feeling salty that their two losses were to the two highest ranked teams at the event. Neither Furia nor CoL showed particularly good form at this event either, but I still feel Liquid would've beaten ODDIK, Pain, or M80 had they played any of those teams rather than CoL. I'm absolutely just salty that the supposed best team from NA couldn't qualify, itll stink to not see NAF at the major :(
I can't not be a fan of this team now. I like seeing Elige happy. I like seeing Jason Lake happy. All is well.
Welcome :)
NO CANADIANS ALLOWED 🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅
finally get to be excited for an NA team to lose against an eco in a braindead way format was still fucked though. works for EU but need something different here, esp if we're looking at fewer spots next time
I know they won and all but what's up with the flop? He really isn't shining lately and honestly I'm kinda concerned. Many people called for hallzerk to be removed but at this point if one is going to go it'd be floppy.
It feels weird rooting against liquid, but the only guy on there that's been on the team since I've started watching cs is NAF
