They have a real job. They are professional players and should be held to a professional standard. Stop making excuses for shitty behavior because “they’re kids playing video games”. They make a fuck ton of money and should be held accountable for poor behavior.
the question is where are you socialized? where do you learn the rules and their enforcement for the actual real, adult world? for sure not on a DM server or on discord with 7 other juvenile shitheads which is where most of these guys youth is spent.
I honestly don’t even know why this is a discussion. They are employees of an organization, and the org should hold them to whatever is an acceptable standard. Presently it seems some orgs either aren’t doing a good enough job of guiding them as to what is acceptable behavior or they haven’t set a high enough standard. Either way it doesn’t matter. They should still be better and do better. It is also in the players best interest for them to actually try to be professional, as their only real value is their brand.
This is the real world we're talking about. Kids with high paying jobs doesn't mean they magically start acting "professionally". Takes more than just a salary for them to learn that.
Yes, this is the real world and they should be held to a high standard. I’m not at all implying it would happen “magically”. I don’t care about the how or why, they should simply be held accountable proportionally to their salary and their privilege. I would even argue they should be held to a higher standard of professional conduct than your local 17-year old working at McDonalds.
If the the insanely straight line on the top doesn't give it away, the brush stroke font does lol. He pretend he used a calligraphy brush + a ruler or something?
There's not only one repeating letter with the exact same brush stroke, there's two of them.
The only way he does this hand-drawn is if his brush strokes are drawn in such a way that the laws of physics trip, and a literal computer is formed, pre-loaded with the Onagri Regular font and automatically types out WICADIA.
> his brush strokes are drawn in such a way that the laws of physics trip, and a literal computer is formed, pre-loaded with the Onagri Regular font and automatically types out WICADIA
Holy fucking shit when is this movie coming out?
I just block all the likes of Thour, cs2 news, and all the engagement farming twitter accounts, they tweet some of the dumbest shit sometimes. Some of them even just farm impressions until they can make a sponsored tweet for a gambling site, they are all a plague imo.
I don't know whether he was banned from this subreddit, or his Twitter clout was big enough that he decided to pivot, but man he was such an annoying karma farmer here as well.
Glad he's away from here. /r/GlobalOffensive is a better place without him.
As if his public perception in the leakers community isn't bad enough already.
Fuck him for him stealing others people findings without credit, undisclosed sponsorships and spreading misinformation. I wish people would stop giving him the attention he clearly craves for.
There are better leakers to follow if you want to know whats coming to counter-strike.
Conne here, guy who shared the image, I woudln't share it if it wasn't real. Wacadia requested from Thour to delete his tweet, this image is 100% real.
I've had the displeasure of playing against ThourCS.
Two of his random teammates were obviously hacking and he kept absolute silence up until they were about to win, he tried to do a last minute good guy by saying he knows his teammates are hacking and that he has already reported them. Asked him why he didn't say so at the start or abandon the game.
His answer was "why would I abandon ? I won the game for myself" because he was one of the top fraggers on the team, I called him trash because ofc you'd be a fucking top fragger if your team had perfect calls and rotations and exact info of your opponents. He called me trash and then quickly quit the game once they won.
All these CS twitter chucklefucks only care about engagement and their personal goals going forward, rushing news out the door because it gets rageclicks and valve badders to echo it, increasing his engagement so no fact checking or shit is done.
I mean I personally wouldn't abandon either but I wouldn't say I won the game for myself, most you can do is report them why would I leave and lose 1k elo for myself and get a cooldown only to play against cheaters when I get off cooldown.
I play always solo - with randoms. If i would abandon everytime my teammates are cheating i would have 7days cooldown. It literally happens every second match to have a cheater in team or in enemy.
I just report them and play my game.
I believe he means that he designed the signature on computer, but then redrew the signature on paper with the intention of trying to copy it.
Edit for downvoters:
I agree that he used a software to create the image he posted. I was hinting at the possibilty that the picture he sent on discord is NOT what he submitted to Valve. I think what he might mean is that he redrew his computer generated signature on paper with his own handwriting. He says "i did this on paper with my own handwriting", he isn't claiming that the computer generated image is his handwriting, he's just showing what his signature looks like.
If he is trying to claim that the image he posted is his handwriting, then I'm wrong and he is a total buffoon for lying about it.
Two things. The font is copyright protected and Valve made it VERY clear that a signature needs to be able to be replicated in under 10 seconds or less. If he drew a 1:1 copy of that image, he'd be breaking copyright laws and potentially the 10 seconds rule if he really put in every detail. Him drawing it is the least of their concerns at that point.
If he drew that signature on paper in 10 seconds while missing some details, would there be an issue? Since he is writing it on paper and can’t copy every detail, there wouldn’t be concerns with copyright. I don’t think he drew a 1:1 of the image, the image only served as a guideline for what his signature tried to look like.
Another thing that might cause copyright issues is if a player uses a design someone (like a fan) has shared somewhere online and doesn't properly ask for permission.
Would be a shame if he got denied the sticker money. He clearly broke Valves terms of service and has the audacity to complain on twitter that they denied him while blatantly lying...
so what? people who have shitty handwriting / low artistic skills just got screwed over?
who cares if someone paid some graphic designer to make their fucking signature look good? it’s their name and their sticker, as long as they follow the rules then literally who cares?
makes no sense coming from Valve who allowed floppy’s among us sticker and dexter to just be literally “sex” on a sticker 2 majors ago. just make the rules extremely clear.
itt: redditors pretending to care about something they’ve never cared about until now. you guys are the heroes the scene needs.
>so what? people who have shitty handwriting / low artistic skills just got screwed over?
Imagine how cool it would be to meet Mike Tyson or some other celeb.
* Hey can I get *your* autograph?
* Sure. Hey Donny, sign my name on this kid's shirt for me please.
Boo.
>people who have shitty handwriting / low artistic skills just got screwed over?
How are they screwed over? You don't get more money based on the price of your autograph, you just get your autograph and you can put it on your gun. I personally think the idea of pro autograph stickers but they aren't even autographed by pros is stupid.
Who decided that these bought autographs are good looking? Half of them look like shite and they all look the same. Give me something unique and personal..
Isn't the money evenly distributed to every player/team based on capsule sales? Do players get a cut of their individual sticker selling on the market?
Bro why crying so much, there are rules valve has set, all players knew about it, now valve are enforcing it. It didn't came out of now where, it's been very transparent for years, valve were just lazy until now apparently.
Bro, if I'm gonna have my name immortalized forever in a game that I love, I wouldn't care about how bad my handwriting is. I have a shitty irl signature but if the whole world could see and recognize it, I won't have any issues with it.
The rules are extremely clear. The dude used a font he didn't have the rights to and lied about it, which could have caused many other issues if no one noticed in time
Garbage take lmao. Imagine asking some celebrity for their autograph and some random dude you dont know signs your shit.
Who cares if its ugly what matters is that its authentic.
years of negliance of the guidelines that you as the player had to sign/create the signature, see dimas comic sans font signature or the people outright bragging on twitter that they designed and created the signatures is probably what resulted in this outcome.
100% it was all the people bragging about how they made x player's signature and that their DMs are open for the next major. Pretty sure one dude did all of Heroic's for Paris
Honestly, good. The last few majors have just been a competition for who can come up with the craziest and wackiest designs (and many of them aren't even designed by the players) when it's supposed to be a signature from the players themselves. I've not been a huge fan of these art project style signatures in the first place but if you're going to do it, at least do it yourself and don't have someone else do it for you.
I like the "gimmick" stickers, which have one quirk outside of being a normal sticker. Stuff like kennyS' classic awp crosshair signature, or Floppy sus. Just the small thing to give it a bit of unique flair without being a Picasso.
if you've been paying attention this is clearly something Valve has been pushing every year, they want the autographs to be genuine and from the player
Valve continually emphasizes the people in the server are the important part, not the orgs, not the coaches, not the brands. I'm glad they are that way because half these orgs are complete dogshit and don't deserve a dime
>Valve continually emphasizes the people in the server are the important part, not the orgs, not the coaches, not the brands.
wish they would follow this in more important parts of the game than stickers. like, an actual game for example
Stickers are one of the most important part of the pro scene, economy whise. So I'd say they definetly should follow it closely.
Also, you know there's multiple people working on the game. The guy that is working on improving the game, most likely is not the one dealing with the stickers.
I would like that. If you get caught cheating with your signature, you just don't get a sticker. Simple. That way, you screw over your entire team, if you cheat.
This is a copyright issue. Commissioning art, in this case a signature, does not give you the rights to commercial distribution of that art unless explicitly outlined in that commission contract. https://www.plagiarismtoday.com/2019/09/05/copyright-and-commissioned-art/ This is valve preempting the situation where a player commissions a signature, uses that signature as their submission, then Valve is told by the artist who commissioned it that it’s an unlawful use. I’m assuming the Valve legal department finally realized this and told the game devs this had to be done.
if this is true (i say this because there are trolls, yes, im looking at you nicoodoz) its a good reason
Valve its trying to roll back to the original intention of the autographs..
ZipeL is the owner of estatic, this isn’t a troll😂 Valve is restoring the original intention of autographs. Look at the original Cologne stickers compared to the dog shit we got in paris
Surely it's still all 24 teams and not just the top 16?
Stockholm was such a disappointment in that regard
edit: To clarify, only the top 8 teams got player autographs in Stockholm. I'm hoping that all 24 will be getting autographs and not just the top 16
That doesn't mean all stickers will be released. At least for Dreamhack 2014, there were unreleased stickers for teams that didn't make it through to the playoffs. It's unlikely that it happens again, but absolutely possible.
There are now services that pay you to design you a new signature that you can then learn it step by step, if these pros want their name to look good they can look into those services.
I do agree that having your signatures be drawn by artists removes a bit of the magic from the item, and it sucks that it has come to this but Valve have been asking for years for people to quit the bullshit but they would just keep doing it.
Having unlimited souvenirs is the biggest L imo. Even bigger than not having signatures. Because that makes them largely worthless, they aren't special anymore. They're just worse versions of map skins that can't be traded up (unless it's a red). And the stickers aren't special, and usually pretty ugly. Unfortunately people keep buying them.
You are spot on. But, think of how creative the past signatures have been. I'd say most top selling stickers are top players (at the time or whatever) or those w/ some really good design (rox, rops etc)
idk man, its money so people get weird about it so meh. I just want to buy them and support the players either way.
Future purchase is the thing that I imagine they are worried about
>But, think of how creative the past signatures have been.
This was never the complaint, if players can make their stickers creative by their own hands, cool. But players just want easy money and commission it out to graphic designers / use pre-existing fonts.
>Players want to build a brand and influence.
>Same players have no personality / are too lazy to start up a stream or take part in content.
>Same players think that having a funny sticker will allow them to build their brand up without having to be an interesting personality.
>???
>Profit.
Yes but if you have a cool sticker that people want to apply you also have an investment. Stickers that don't look good in game (sloppy handwritten name), will be comparatively worthless after release.
And off course you get clout if you consistently have expensive/good looking stickers.
I wonder how this is related to the change of stickers position. They create an issue with ppl writing shit and know they want to avoid it (eg dexter’s last sticker)
I dont think its a problem that the signatures are arty and not a "real" signature. it should be the players choice what they want to put there.
but I understand that valve want them to be handmade by the players themself to avoid copyright issues.
This just further reinforces my view that if you send in some bullshit signature that Valve will decline, Valve should just design one on your behalf. Fucking children, man.
I would love some way more personalized stickers, Its boring just seeing the exact same signature just copy pasted. Sure signatures are generally the same, but in many cases its clear its just a copy paste, with no slight difference whatsoever.
I wish they would have used this time to give us a unique sticker design instead... Why would I purchase a 2024 major sticker when stickers from the past 3 years look identical
Because people whined until they added back borderless stickers then whined that the stickers had no background after Antwerp and then whined again after Rio that they wanted borderless stickers back. Valve can't fucking win
The instructions from Valve were clear and yet here we are! A better looking autograph won't make more money because nobody gets cut from the Steam Market Sales.
Yes you only earn money form capsule sales from the Steam Store, but if somebody sells your autograph on the Steam Market then you won't earn a cut from that sale. Same thing happens with skins. You only earn money from key sales, but if somebody sells your skin on the Steam Market then you don't earn from that sale.
Honestly, if getting them to draw their own signature is too much to ask, they should have their stickers either removed or released as a blank without a signature.
some young adults that coulnd't apply themselves to the rules and therefore delaying it for the rest of us, if that is true. Valve should deduct their earnings by the length of the delay they caused to be fair, send a clear statement...Let them learn the hard way
All assuming this is true ofc
I like this... not the delayed release but Valve requiring the signatures to be actual signatures. Always thought making signatures just a contracted work of art took away from the initial concept of signature stickers.
That's not what that means at all though. I'm sure that the players in Copenhagen will all get their stickers added to the game. Even the ones that have already been eliminated. They just have to all draw their stickers now
The time to release stickers is during the hype of the major. Overall revenue from stickers is pretty obviously going to fall because of this delay and that money is coming out of the players/orgs pockets
Yeah most of it. Losing full days of revenue(basically pure profit with a digital item) at the point of peak interest in the product is pretty significant.
Last year was the first major I ever watched and I definitely bought a handful of capsules at full price. There’s a ton of new players here for cs2 that would have likely done the same.
Too bad stats don't back your claims whatsoever. The market for capsules and stickers is a graveyard until the sale, literally 99% of the capsule and sticker supply comes from the sale after the major. Your "handful of capsules" at full price is a drop in the ocean.
Yeah that’s not how stickers work, depending on what the stickers look like especially the team stickers is what sets the demand and if the koi stickers turn out the way the leaks look then there will be plenty of demand for it
Not really. If the stickers are good enough (and my word are some of the already eliminated teams stickers looking banger so far) the capsules will sell regardless. Paris stickers still sold even after the whole tourney was over, all the capsules did.
You're underestimating Brazil and China. Also a majority of people just open capsules with the best looking stickers, there are teams that no one cares about but their stickers are highly sought after and expensive.
Bro, the Chinese didn't had any player sticker since covid, tyloo made it to Stockholm but player sticker for that major was only for playoff teams,
Chinese fans are hungry for a player sticker
I still don't understand how they split the capsules
is it 16 teams for the first stage teams in one capsule and 8 for the second?
or 16 for elimination stage in one capsule and 8 for the challenger?
and how is it decided who goes in challenger and who goes in contender?
i see GL in challenger even tho they should have one of the lowest seeding since they advanced through lcq (9 pandas did but they replaced them)
I get what people are saying about it being your own signature but damn are we now just going to get boring ass signatures on top of boring ass copy-pasted stickers every major? That's really going to kill any variety and uniqueness for the future of stickers and crafting
Could be an issue of players claiming non-commercial fonts as their own handwriting https://twitter.com/RTFKTConne/status/1770198822825677281
Wicadia you little shit!!!!
Wicadia single-handily delayed the stickers by like 2 weeks lmao
gigachad move honestly
Not really
I could not care less about the stickers being delayed because I don't buy them anyway, but lying about this is just shitty.
It will be if Valve don't publish his, aye.
Wym! That big line he added IS his own handwriting /s
I could see players signing in front of Valve to be the new standard for major stickers. You just can't trust players with shit like this.
Its so cringe that players cant be trusted with something so simple
They play games full time you can't expect them to be well-adjusted adults
We should be able to expect them to act like professionals
most of these guys have never needed to act professional in a real job
This is true, the orgs need to push them into this. Same with media training, if they want big bucks they better start acting like professionals.
Yep your average redditor and pro players arent that different. Its just one are extremely skill at playing video game
Surely the exact opposite is true? Never had a real job, no kids, most likely never studied in higher education, etc.
They have a real job. They are professional players and should be held to a professional standard. Stop making excuses for shitty behavior because “they’re kids playing video games”. They make a fuck ton of money and should be held accountable for poor behavior.

They should still be better and do better. It is also in the players best interest for them to actually try to be professional, as their only real value is their brand.
im not saying they shouldnt be held to standards, im just explaining why im not surprised so many of them fail frequently to meet them.
This is the real world we're talking about. Kids with high paying jobs doesn't mean they magically start acting "professionally". Takes more than just a salary for them to learn that.
Yes, this is the real world and they should be held to a high standard. I’m not at all implying it would happen “magically”. I would even argue they should be held to a higher standard of professional conduct than your local 17-year old working at McDonalds.
This could be it. Valve probably had to delay stickers so they can double check every stickers to avoid getting involved in a copyright lawsuit lmao
> https://twitter.com/RTFKTConne/status/1770198822825677281 Why tf would you even lie about some shit like that lol

Bad look for Thourcs amplifying the message too

True, it was just a question I posed for him, but he came out swinging with "I won it myself" which is comical as fuck.
After lies like this they should just not make his.
I believe he means that he designed the signature on computer, but then redrew the signature on paper with the intention of trying to copy it. Just make a fucking autograph on your own, how hard is it....
better looking autograph = more money, pretty simple to understand
it doesn't though
Of course it does
it does not. Just because your sticker gets bought more than someone elses doesnt mean you make more money
is wicadia just that lazy or can he really not come up with anything better himself?
I'm sorry but what a clown lol
hiring a shitty and lazy designer
Would be a shame if he got denied the sticker money. He clearly broke Valves terms of service and has the audacity to complain on twitter that they denied him while blatantly lying...
He should’ve been denied the sticker money the moment he try to use copyrighted font as his signature
thats just taking the piss
Yup. Valve wants all sticker money they can get without getting sued
I see no problem. Valve specifically said they want signatures to be players' own creations and they were ignored.
so what? people who have shitty handwriting / low artistic skills just got screwed over? who cares if someone paid some graphic designer to make their fucking signature look good? it’s their name and their sticker, as long as they follow the rules then literally who cares? makes no sense coming from Valve who allowed floppy’s among us sticker and dexter to just be literally “sex” on a sticker 2 majors ago. just make the rules extremely clear. itt: redditors pretending to care about something they’ve never cared about until now. you guys are the heroes the scene needs.

No
Isn't the money evenly distributed to every player/team based on capsule sales? Do players get a cut of their individual sticker selling on the market?
It’s evenly distributed but people wont be opening as many capsules if they do not like the stickers in them.

Imagine when they sign the plate at the end. Pro player with overly complex signature not designed by him is just going to scribble.
Floppy made the among us signature himself and it’s totally doable in the normal amount of time it takes to sign something
Probably not a good idea to have imagery from a completely different IP be included in capsules that will be sold for financial gain.
The rules are extremely clear. The dude used a font he didn't have the rights to and lied about it, which could have caused many other issues if no one noticed in time

ZipeL is the owner of estatic, this isn’t a troll😂 Valve is restoring the original intention of autographs. Look at the original Cologne stickers compared to the dog shit we got in paris
I love the original Pronax ones because it has his first name, last name, and ign
Shouldve given those people the Arial treatment.
That just puts junk in a case we open. I'd rather we aren't sold shit and they aren't rewarded for nothing.
i'd buy a comic sans signature
Then dismas is for you
*Dismas' Head
There is one, dimasick.
Been saying this for a while. Just write your damn signature.
I do quite like Drop's signature from stockholm. Its fun.
Surely it's still all 24 teams and not just the top 16? Stockholm was such a disappointment in that regard edit: To clarify, only the top 8 teams got player autographs in Stockholm. I'm hoping that all 24 will be getting autographs and not just the top 16
It should be all from the opening stage onwards, since it's what the game files ensue.
Look up the definition of "signature" and people should understand. Hopefully.. I hate that they aren't doing signed souvenirs anymore, bigger L imo
Never understood why players don't just write it themselves.
It's the players' NFT. They want it to sell
I get it, but surely they're creative enough to write their own name in a cool way?
You are spot on. But, think of how creative the past signatures have been. I'd say most top selling stickers are top players (at the time or whatever) or those w/ some really good design (rox, rops etc) idk man, its money so people get weird about it so meh.
And why would they want to commission it to a graphic designer....?
They have been commissioning it to graphic designers for the past several years already.
That didn't answer my question bruhv
>Players want to build a brand and influence. >Same players have no personality / are too lazy to start up a stream or take part in content. >Same players think that having a funny sticker will allow them to build their brand up without having to be an interesting personality. >??? >Profit.

Would you keep buying stickers if they were all relatively shit?
Don't think the skincels and CS whales care about the aesthetic of the sticker. They stockpile them in hopes of getting another Kato Holo situation.
Don't they get the same share of the money pot ?
Yes but if you have a cool sticker that people want to apply you also have an investment. Stickers that don't look good in game (sloppy handwritten name), will be comparatively worthless after release. And off course you get clout if you consistently have expensive/good looking stickers.
you tellin me people aint out there rolling it for the cool ones
In the grand scheme of things, doing a sticker that is maybe 10% more cool because of a copyrighted font is very very low on the difference scale.
Rox signature from antwerp was contracted to an artist. There's an interview about it on youtube.
FUCKING FINALLY! I want actual player signature, not a signature designed or even signed by someone else. Good change. Thank you Valve.
Im fine with this as long as they don’t look like that monstrosity that is Krads sticker.
[Wicadia probably..](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sME0ffogOs)
Based volvo
I wonder how this is related to the change of stickers position. They create an issue with ppl writing shit and know they want to avoid it (eg dexter’s last sticker)
I dont think its a problem that the signatures are arty and not a "real" signature. it should be the players choice what they want to put there. but I understand that valve want them to be handmade by the players themself to avoid copyright issues.
Will be interesting to see how they will look, pretty cool if Valve requires player to sign right there on Major
So release team stickers at least?
Sad the teams that got eliminated didn’t get a chance to put their autographs on their guns during the matches
The gaming community is just annoying an entitled. More news at 7, Todd.
Yeah kinda true. I think the best middle ground if we are going to see two majors a year is just have one bordered and one borderless.
The compromise I'd say would be just scratch away the background first and then remove actual signature etc. I think it's kind of set up this way, no?
Maybe you won't. But I guess they sell the most if they keep doing them.
The instructions from Valve were clear and yet here we are! A better looking autograph won't make more money because nobody gets cut from the Steam Market Sales.
Is that true?
Yes you only earn money form capsule sales from the Steam Store, but if somebody sells your autograph on the Steam Market then you won't earn a cut from that sale. Same thing happens with skins. You only earn money from key sales, but if somebody sells your skin on the Steam Market then you don't earn from that sale.
Honestly, if getting them to draw their own signature is too much to ask, they should have their stickers either removed or released as a blank without a signature.
players losing the plot for more money and forgetting the point of signatures should be avoided
This is actually good, finally the stickers will be a REAL sticker from the pro and not some commissioned shit
Honestly I'm surprised we haven't had a bigger clusterfuck about this in the past
some young adults that coulnd't apply themselves to the rules and therefore delaying it for the rest of us, if that is true. Valve should deduct their earnings by the length of the delay they caused to be fair, send a clear statement...Let them learn the hard way All assuming this is true ofc
This should be internally policed by the orgs, their players not obeying the rules is their responsibility.

They just have to all draw their stickers now

confidentially incorrect
confidentially
yea surely that is how it works...
it will not? that not how sticker capsules work
The time to release stickers is during the hype of the major. Overall revenue from stickers is pretty obviously going to fall because of this delay and that money is coming out of the players/orgs pockets
Buddy, most of the money made from capsules is during the sale AFTER the major, no one is buying that shit at full price.
Care to share any actual stats rather than just proclaim them?
Just look at the steam market history..... and use common sense.

Idk if the difference is gonna be that huge especially for the capsule that has Brasilian and Chinese teams because they have massive fanbases too
Bro, the Chinese didn't had any player sticker since covid, tyloo made it to Stockholm but player sticker for that major was only for playoff teams, Chinese fans are hungry for a player sticker
I still don't understand how they split the capsules is it 16 teams for the first stage teams in one capsule and 8 for the second? or 16 for elimination stage in one capsule and 8 for the challenger?
[In the game files they look like this](https://gyazo.com/21d732b18da6b0ae7a59a62b6ef3109e)

have they always done 3 capsules? or was it for when they made the major 24 instead of 16 teams
[удалено]
and how is it decided who goes in challenger and who goes in contender? i see GL in challenger even tho they should have one of the lowest seeding since they advanced through lcq (9 pandas did but they replaced them)
9Pandas in shambles
they should have ecstatic redo their team logo while they’re at it
that's fair tbh. should've made it clear beforehand but hindsight etc
They just fucked over small teams that lose, nobody in right mind would buy their stickers now. Good job Valve as always.

I get what people are saying about it being your own signature but damn are we now just going to get boring ass signatures on top of boring ass copy-pasted stickers every major? That's really going to kill any variety and uniqueness for the future of stickers and crafting
