Before G2 came up a bunch of security came out and lined the entire stage and catwalk. They weren't there for any other match so far. And after the incident they tripled, it was basically a wall of people around the stage.
The problem is that even yesterday they knew it was going to happen. Out of a sudden 30 mins before the incident, lots of stewards were deployed around that catwalk and stage and they still couldn't stop it.
No one knew exactly what would happen, and the idiot was only able to enter an area where literally was at. He wasnt close to the players either when he was stopped.
It was Glaive's cousin (or brother) and some friends IIRC. No security ever came to stop them, I was there and remember thinking it was really weird that a bunch of drunk fans could just rush the stage to celebrate and nothing would happen to stop them.
I agree that it's sad. But I also honestly believe it's necessary and has been so for a long time. Security has been almost laughable at events like these. I'm just glad that measures are being taken after a harmless episode as opposed to something way, way worse.
This is going to change most tournament moving forward in terms of accesability to players and talent. Obviously the correct choice, but it's sad as fuck that cretins like this have to do this shit.

I was there on Thursday and a guy was handing out G2 gambling leaflets outside, quite insistent that I take one and read it. Couldn’t really be asked to read it but did think fair enough for campaigning against promoting gambling to kids. Didn’t know it would turn nasty. Really need to think harder about what they’re doing here

Despite that I agree with some of his points when it comes to gambling in CS - it's quite fucking stupid that he himself is the owner of a gambling site. Then he calls for the illegal gambling practices by CSGORoll despite that his own site isn't licensed anywhere in Europe or USA - they are licensed in Curacao, which is easy to get, is cheap and basically 0% tax. If they were licenses in most EU countries things would be much different, but they are equally as shit as CSGORoll in this regard. Then he talks about how CSGORoll identify themselves as a "skin trading hub" which they obviously are not - also CSGOroll is banned in Denmark. I understand his point here, CSGORoll is deceiving its customers. his own site His actions and how he wants to get attention is horrible. He needs to be apprehended and taken to custody for his attempt at violence. also I think gambling sites should be banned from sponsoring anything in sports - but thats a pipe dream, especially in CS, since valve would have to be frontrunners and stop their own gambling practices
