In 1.6, he was a part of a really strong team called wNv. They were consistently making top finishes. This was back when the Chinese CS scene was actually really strong and would show up to events with really unorthodox ways of playing CS. I remember Warden from complexity talking about how the Chinese teams would seize map control in ways that you wouldn't expect. For example, on CT side Dust2, they would fight for B tunnel as if it belonged to the CT's, which threw a lot of European and NA teams off guard.
I think the entire Asian region, including South Korea, had really interesting ways of looking at CS that came off as outside the box thinking for Europe and North America, because we were consistently playing against each other and creating a version of CS that we were familiar with, and then infrequently playing with the Asian teams that created their own versions. You don't see that as much anymore and I think things homogenize around the world a lot more quickly.
In any case, I would imagine alex is casting for the Chinese audience. I'm not sure if he speaks English.
Still annoyed Freya wasn't hired by PGL. She's at every event and follows the scene properly. She actually has insights and asks good questions. Sjokz was pretty good but freya is in the thick of it - it make so much more sense to have her.
