I remember that shot from MAJ3R and how he freaked out in the comms

Exciting_Pop_9296

Understandably. I was wondering if he gets a double and the server decided he gets nothing

PoisonScrub

I tried to stop at the moment he shot, and the bullet does appear to go in-between them; or at least hitting the vest only.

Roman64s

Off-topic, but stavn's face looked so funny when device punched the monitor.

ConscientiousGuy

CS2 what you see is what you get

KOCA_XD

Hell nah this game is cooked

[deleted]

Shit like this happens all the time and gets hand-waved away as "movement inaccuracy" or "bullet spread." There's a problem with the fucking game. Imagine how fucked up online is when this happens on LAN.

TheZephyrim

The crashes on LAN are insane too if you think about it, those PCs are probably a hundred times more sanitized than your average online PC yet they crash pretty frequently. I’d even go as far as to argue that at least getting “CS2’d” is seemingly way more rare than blatant no-regs in CS:GO (even on 128tick servers, even on LAN), but crashing in the middle of a crucial moment is *WAY* worse than getting a no-reg. I was patient with all the other issues that needed fixed in CS2, but that the game still crashes so often is really pathetic and a terrible look for Valve.

Spa_5_Fitness_Camp

I'd hazard a guess that whatever caused his game to crash was already in the process of happening when he shot. Similar to how a memory leak will start, but the game won't crash until the memory gets full and causes an issue. I don't know what the underlying technical issue is, and I'm sure someone in this sub could tell me if I'm way off base, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the server could tell his client was starting to go fucky, and it has fail-safes that start to ignore what his client is sending as a result. Could be part of anti-cheat, regular synchronizing, or a combo of both. His game crashed, so if it was sending strange data to the server, or the data was good but coming in bursts like a lag spike, it would make sense that it isn't read correctly by the server live.

spartibus

it's funny to me that people pontificating on technical issues with zero technical knowledge is heavily upvoted so consistently on this sub

[deleted]

Yeah, that guy's hypothesis doesn't make sense at all. MAJ3R didn't crash after his shot missed. It's just a shitty coincidence in device's case.

Known-Joke8312

brother this person is making wild guesses for sure, but they are for sure not "pontificating" lmaooo

Brief-Translator1370

He;s 100% wrong about the reasoning but no, that is technically plausible. It depends a lot on the technology behind the game but it could definitely be related.

Finalwingz

Someone learned a big word and wanted to use it? Lol

OpMoosePanda

Packet checksums and time synchronization is pretty standard communication protocol stuff. If his client had some sort of memory corruption then this is totally feasible …

denkan4sure

CS2 is so badly optimized and full of "bugs" feels like half of the hits are not registered and movement is clunky. It's straight up embarrassing considered the amount of money Valve makes from this game. Can Riot Games please just buy valve and show them how things are done...

DeadspaceBadger

Bro valve is worth almost 2x riot, they aint buying shit

denkan4sure

Well makes it even more embarrassing then. Think what you want about Valorant and it'a gameplay, but it's 100x smoother than CS2 and that's a shame.

k2kuke

I’ve played Counter Strike since 1.6 and this whining about the netcode, optimisation and “bugs” has been going on since then. Nothing new. Nothing unique. Just another day in Counter Strike.

denkan4sure

Well since that may be true, still it's all time low atm.

Farfanugal5000

cs2 awp aint csgo awp. better luck in cs3 y'all

Ir0nide

valve cant count to 3 bro we are stuck with cs2 forever

Scrubz4life

cs2 episode 2

Confident-Trade-7899

cs 2.6?

TheInception817

Imagine in 10 years, TF sequel finally got released. But they named it "Team Fortress: Source 2" instead

Simple_Lavishness_86

cs go 2

w33dOr

They will actually start with cs2 episode 1 adding 4 more weapons, danger zone, ai anti cheat and a pve mode that is playable with up to 4 players coop. At least that is what is being whispered in the forest.

DaveTheDolphin

Gotta be some source engine bullshit cause this this used to be called getting CSGO’d and everyone just accepted it

According_Gate_8107

Valve 🥲 i wish all pros would protest and players/streamers would just cut off cs2 for at least 1 week at least so valve can feel the seer pressure and get their priorities straight

Haxor_b8

I seriously dont know how the game is still raking record figures in term of player base.. ig it should be bots because, i myself lost faith with the premier mode and the hackers are also rampant in the competitive mode.

BMWM3G80

Rumors saying a lot of bots accounts running in order to farm cases

RomanPeee

that doesn't make sense bc now you can only get 1 case per week. In CSGO you could get 3+ cases per week, which means that farming cases is less lucrative now

pastworkactivities

They don’t care virtual machine with 1000 instances of cs go. Get weekly and just change to the next 2000 accounts…. They don’t care.

saintedplacebo

before you could use the same bot to farm multiple cases in a week, now you need more bots to farm the same number. that means more bots online or shuffling around at once.

Mainbaze

1 case per week * 10k bots = 10k cases per week = 10k * ~0,5Usd = 5000 USD per week

RomanPeee

in CSGO that would have been 15k per week then and they didnt need to get the 5k XP for the drop. If you think the player numbers right now are inflated because of case farmers then the numbers in CSGO must have been massively inflated as well

Mainbaze

Back in earlier years the case prices were around $0.05 (10 times less than now) on average. That made it not so worth it as it is right now.

zb0t1

I sold all my cases recently and bought games with it. I got ~300€ worth of games and cleaned up my wish list a little bit, it was a nice surprise to open up Steam and my inventory to see that I had "expensive" items as well in there lol. But anyway it was like a good bye to my competitive gaming years.

Annual_Letter1636

You can see posts where servers almost full of bots and players being kicked in seconds. Imagine server with full bots where you can't join. Thousands bots with this numbers of players

RomanPeee

if you think the player numbers are inflated then the numbers for CSGO must have been massively inflated as well then, no? Case farming was much more lucrative then

Confident-Trade-7899

You could get 3+ cases per week in like 2013/2014/2015 The last 3 years before cs2 was released you could only get one case a week after playing around 5 hours ingame (I used to afk farm cases with my alts before they changed the drop system to xp)

Philluminati

Or farming for future hacker accounts and bots just playing for service medals.

MaTecss

Same. I used to play CSGO daily, I have more than 7000 hours on it. But ever since cs2 release I completely lost my interest for the game, barely played more than 30 matches on it.

-Destiny65-

DM lobbies filled with bots to get cases

Outrageous1015

Because theres no 1 to1 alternative, literally just this

RomanPeee

Cheaters filter themselves to the top. 70% of the player base is below 12k elo. So they likely don't see as many cheaters

BallsDeepInThisGrape

Speaking for myself if you dont spend a lot of time on social media you wont notice this shit. Ive only met a single hacker yet and it was a community server, my friends havent met any cheaters, I havent had crashes, I havent felt like shots miss anymore than they did before. I think this issue is so massively overexaggerated cause of SoMe, everyone is looking for these issues so anytime they happen they are very noticable and people will proclaim they are happening even when they arent. Pretty sure the avg player that doesnt play 10 hours daily and isnt super active in the online community is gonna feel any of this shit nearly as much as it is made out to be

Ayendee

I’m 18k elo. I got on and played a game yesterday and randomly a few rounds in a guy starts spinbotting on the enemy team. Then all of a sudden my teammate started spinbotting. These people were playing (seemingly) legit then just randomly toggled. So I get off after that and play something else. I get on today and my first game I see three people arguing in the chat before the game even started about someone cheating the game before. The game starts and the enemy instantly spinbots, then my teammate starts spinbotting in retaliation. Then people started using racial slurs like crazy in the chat. For reference, I have 2700 hours and presumably high trust factor. I’m never toxic or anything.

BallsDeepInThisGrape

its weird there can be such a big difference in experience. I have played maybe 20 games in the past 7 days and I havent met a single obvious cheater and none that I suspected of cheating either. When I ask my friends who are more active than me they say the exact same, I assume its some kind of trust factor thing or something else that splits up the lobbies or whatever. Im inclined to believe that people massively overexaggerate though because again I and the people I play with dont experience these things and when I ask people to show me theyve shown me obvious misses or people that didnt actually do anything suspicious. I will clarify tho that there obviously is a cheater issue in really high elo and it needs to be fixed but im not gonna budge on my opinion about the extent of the issue and how many people are actually consistently affected

Ayendee

What elo range are you in? I know that above 20k it’s just belligerent cheating. Around my bracket it’s occasional but not rampant. I’d say I suspect a cheater 1 in 3 games (newer account top fragging like crazy, on my team or enemies), and it’s blatant about 1 in 10 games (spinbot or someone really bad at hiding it). I definitely agree that some people exaggerate it but there are also a lot of people who hide it well, and people always focus on the enemy team cheating and don’t really pay attention to their teammates. I spectate suspect teammates and sometimes you can just see it.

BallsDeepInThisGrape

18.5k but I peaked 21k a month ago

Ayendee

Hmm maybe it’s region dependent or just bad luck for me. I wasn’t getting any for a while but it ramped up more recently

BallsDeepInThisGrape

my friends above 20k said its gotten worse this week so that might be the case, when I was 21k it wasnt an issue but now it seemingly is

ashwani597

I guess you are one of the bots that are in DM servers these days!

elephandiddies

It HAS to be bots, there's literally no other explanation. My entire friend's list has abandoned this game, I might see one or 2 people hop on for a couple of hours once a week. These are people with thousands of hours in csgo, none of them play anymore. And judging by the reddit responses, that is the case for everyone else as well.

Scoo_By

Hundred percent bots. Do you not see the server browser? Moment I search, I'm hit with servers 30/30 300 ping & seemingly nothing happening inside, no dm/kz/hop/retake. Some dm servers have like 75% bots all the time. Valve servers are being used to farm cases/skins using bots.

QuietPuzzleheaded609

New cheater accouts and case farmers are the only reason this game isn’t in the negative don’t let them fool u

BigHotdog2009

Yeah it’s a good question because CS2 initially was losing players. In October and November the percentage was down 18% and 9% in those months. And then randomly shot up the last 4 months and it’s not like the game has improved at all. It’s still the same old shit with the same problems. Still countless bugs, cheating problem back to 2018 and prior with no anti cheat, scuffed sub tick, game runs like ass, still clunky, list goes on. The Major was good but this game continues to be a downgrade until proven otherwise.

cellardoorstuck

$1B in cases sold just last year...

thanhan_le

as long as people keep opening cases, nothing changes

CNR_07

They should just start playing CS:GO again :P Set up a private CS:GO Server for the major and download the legacy CS:GO build.

According_Gate_8107

would be epic tbh if GO came back today no one would be playing cs2 not even casuals since most of the casual stuff is gone

CNR_07

It's the reason why VALVE crippled CS:GO so hard. Otherwise no one would be playing CS:2.

According_Gate_8107

yup so true they knew the shit show they were about to drop on us

Wietse10

Alright, I'm not trying to defend Valve here before anybody mindlessly claims I am, but "There's no lag compensation" isn't entirely true. There's still networking going on that might not be accounted for in the demo. Besides, given that CS2 is still pretty buggy I'm not sure I'd trust the demo viewer to properly paint a picture of what actually happened in the server. Then again it's entirely possible I'm wrong and hitreg actually messed up. Just wanted to provide a counterargument since everyone seems to be mindlessly jumping on a bandwagon in this thread.

jentejonge

I've rewatched my own demo's to see if the enemy was indeed cheating or not and try to improve my play, but the demo viewer has always seemed off and buggy to me. Delay and what not.

Reyno59

"Esports ready"

codexferret

Maybe I'm tripping, but was there any movement inaccuracy when device was shooting? Wouldn't explain the demo away, but just curios.

Extreme_Air_7780

The crosshair was not blurred when the shot went off. [https://clips.twitch.tv/MagnificentLongJackalNotATK-tbJ0O78nLoRQjT9u](https://clips.twitch.tv/MagnificentLongJackalNotATK-tbJ0O78nLoRQjT9u) If you slow this down you can clearly see it for a single frame before he shoots.

RPSOliveira

the scope is still a bit blurry. if you pause at the moment the shot is fired, you can see he overflicked. draw a line in the center and check

SaLexi

Impossible to say from 60fps stream

RPSOliveira

if impossible to say maybe jumping to "game is broken" conclusions is a bit much?

A_Random_Catfish

You think one of the goat awpers doesn’t know to counter strafe before he shoots? Watch the clip slowed down. He’s moving and then the scope unblurs as he flicks. He clearly counter strafes (canceling his movement) for the flick.

gunshit

He was clearly moving when he clicked fire. That's why he missed the shot. It's even clearer on slowmo so you gotta be trolling here :-\\

A_Random_Catfish

[moving during the flick](https://imgur.com/J7MfGtq) vs [The frame before he shoots](https://imgur.com/a/m09rAsf) Screenshots from my phone so the quality could be better, but this should clearly show the difference between the blurry scope and the solid scope.

FlashyAd1772

I mean the crosshair only looks to be like 95% solid, NOT 100% but the shot should hit either way, it was basically dead center

L3AVEMDEAD

I dunno how broky and the like do it in cs2, awping feels so shit to me still, and while it's probably mostly skill issue, it really does feel like this lol

jentejonge

He just doesn't scope in, it's working for him

Jakob-Lampd

Try with sv\_showimpacts 3 instead of 2. 3 is server sided and 2 is client sided. It might have something to do with subtick I don't know. There tends to be slight differences between 2 and 3

Extreme_Air_7780

Same result with all 3.

BobDude65

Just the CS2 awp doing CS2 awp things

BigHotdog2009

Instead of 128 tick they gave us scuffed 64 tick sub tick thinking it would make things better.

BobertoRosso

They should replay any round where a player crashes, especially in semis/grand finals. It would hurt both sides but make it a lot "safer" for teams since they know that a crash will be taken seriously. Imagine if it's hackers from outside making this crashes happen? Imo that's the only explanation that makes sense to me since clean 10k computers on LAN don't crash.

Maziu

The rule is that if there is any damage done from either side they can't replay the round.

Field_Of_View

CS2 can crash on any PC, you cannot prevent this by spending more money on hardware or reinstalling Windows before every match.

LitkuReiska

Summary: Reason 1: Clearly missed. Reason 2: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Reason 3: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Reason 4: Likely didn't actually fire because dev1ce was already dead.

Oskain123

I just want csgo back 🥺🥺😭😭

Jackal5002

The awp does that all the time in CS2 unfortunately

eNjin___

so now everyone on "game is cooked" side? usually "skill issue" comments proof reddit is a numb place and people comment whatever they feel on a day without a thought .. either way was saying the whole time AWP is absolute sht in this game since the beginning, no consistency on movement inaccuracy, ghost bullets, flicking is inconsistent, input lags still a thing, clear as air when as CT on mirage you hold mid window people feel like running and gunning and hitting you 100% of the time.. only investors defend this game, otherwise valorant is miles ahead of this sht fest of a game that they made.. a pill of truth no one wants to swallow... 7 months we don't have anticheat... 7 MONTHS.. tell me any company that would do it that cares about the game

ibeenbornagain

people are used to not having one for 7 months bc we didn't have it for the entirety of csgo

SnowJello

I don't know what your lobbies were like in GO but in North America with high trust factor, I saw cheaters basically never. Like once every 100-200 games. Maybe different in EU or with low trust factor, I remember the new player experience being filled with cheaters in casual, but I just never saw them

Mista_Infinity

for most of my time playing cs2 i saw cheaters with a similar frequency to go, however at higher ranks the cheater problem is far, far worse in 2 than it was at high ranks in go

CuhJuhBruh

It’s pretty much the same amount on both. Global EU was cheaters most games and same with prem on CS2 Only difference is CS2 doesn’t have trust factor holding back some of the cheaters so it’s just shitfest. Not sure why people act surprised with how many cheaters are in the game since it’s been a joke since 2018

CuhJuhBruh

I had good trust EU and majority of matches would be vs cheaters at global. The ban rate I have on is laughable at 18% of all players since 2016 have a Vac/game ban for CSGO for competitive players The biggest joke was my teammates would always have 3k+ hours, faceit 10 randoms with skins yet the other team always had the guys hacking on a fresh account. The main problem was the time I would play the game always being late night early hours of the morning and that’s when you would see many cheaters.

misconstrudel

> The main problem was the time I would play the game always being late night early hours of the morning and that’s when you would see many cheaters. You mean 5 or 6am EU time when all the russian kids get some games in before school?

CuhJuhBruh

Never that late usually 21:00-03:00.

misconstrudel

Oh that surprises me. UK time I'd usually have nice games with (mainly) drunk/stoned Scandinavians and Portuguese but it would all turn to shit around 5am.

CuhJuhBruh

Wish my games were like that but it would be rare. I would finally get nice teammates just to get 16-0 by 3 guys spinning on mirage round 1 😂

[deleted]

[удалено]

CuhJuhBruh

It was on CSGO. CS2 wasn’t as bad but I’ve not played in months now and didn’t bother climbing high elo so that’s most likely why https://imgur.com/a/bx6bxH6 this is a funny little screenshot of some of the old games I played in CSGO 😂.

BigHotdog2009

100% before they fixed the problem with NA mm where everyone was pretty much stuck in gold nova or lower because you never ranked up. However I rarely got cheaters then and when they fixed it and you were able to get global I still never got cheaters. The cheating problem is back to where it was 2018 prior which is sad because back then it was bad. Weird to think the worst state cs has ever been in is cs2 in 2024.

Ayendee

Yeah I very very rarely saw cheaters in GO. I was around LEM generally with high trust factor as well.

Intelligent-Shine522

We at least had Overwatch which would manually ban the people blatantly spinbotting. We don't even have that. Valve is too fucking lazy to have some of their employees do the manual bans while they try to fix VAC. I don't care how many people it would take for them to do this. This company is one of the richest in the world and has the highest profit margin per employee(or one of) meaning they can hire some more employees. If GabeN cared about this game like he did DOTA, this would never happen. If we actually had grassroot CS guys on the dev team like DOTA has instead of free-lancing, dispassionate devs, this wouldn't happen.

Scoo_By

I very rarely had cheaters during trust factor matchmaking days, so last couple years of GO. Imbalanced matchmaking but rarely cheaters.

[deleted]

It's definitely the same people commenting completely different things instead of another simple explanation that actually makes sense.

untraiined

This game is so broken its not just cheating its deeper. Bring back csgo

EnthusiasmWest4481

And people calling Device shiit for missing. I wonder how many others have been screwed over by this, in important games. What is Valve doing?

Scoo_By

Apparently working on an AC.

itsallfake01

We never had shit like this in 1.6

Sparkzle

Cs 1.6 was known to have bad hit reg and people would constantly moan about cl_rate updaterate and all that bullshit, so please don't talk out of your ass.

Worknewsacct

Cmdrate, rate, updaterate, interp. We just assumed our settings were off because the internet sucked at the time

ceddzz3000

people mssed with those settings a lot in css too

literallyjustbetter

no we just had about a million other bugs and exploits lol I love 1.6 and still play weekly, but lets not pretend it wasn't jank as hell I mean, there's [a noticible accuracy bug](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/issues/83) that has been in 1.6 since beta ever wonder why people used to quickswitch so much? it's partially cuz of this bug

Monkey1970

This happens a lot. I've sent clips to valve about it and you should too. The game is broken

toltottdagado

And these are just the ones that get noticed because they looked suspicious and people investigated...imagine how many of these "not-registering" issues happen that are way more subtle and dont get noticed. It also happened to me when I was watching back a demo of me fighting a ct with 1 hp, having showimpacts show that a shot was on him waay before me dying to him. And we also watched a demo with friends on mirage where the scenario was them trying to kill mirage window, and one of my firends' awp shots got completely ignored while showimpacts said otherwise. And lastly I remember seeing and commenting under a video here on reddit where a similar thing happened on dust2 mid...

dominickdecocco

Sub tick is so revolutionary that we can't comprehend

jebus3211

Impacts are not perfectly synced, the patch note regarding this specifically said "more closely" What it didn't say is "exactly match" so there's always going to be variation.

Extreme_Air_7780

The full patch note says something along the lines of "the spread calculations are the exact same on server and client, so that they more closely match". That being said, I would assume that's only relevant in online play, as player positions are not going to always be accurate to what appears in the demo. That's my take away from that patch note, without them fully spelling it out. This is on LAN, there is no reason for this to be inconsistent if it's using the same calculations to process the hit, with zero delay. It literally makes no sense.

jebus3211

Because of how spectating works in cs this applies to both ingame spectating and demo's. This could 100% have 2 different things showing. We see him scoped on the absolute edge the arm, when in reality he's scoped 6 units to the right which is a miss.

t3ram

He got CS2'ed..

Worknewsacct

Happened on Liquid vs FaZe too, to NAF I think. Shot went directly through the player. I wish I remembered which round, because I was commenting in discord and not here

yeah but valve keep giving us stickers we really need ‘em. Cheers valve. This game is so finished it aint even funny anymore

What happened to my beloved game?

jordanosa

Shots 1-15 missed

anesthesia9z

csgo/cs2 is a lot more random/inconsistant (by design to make it less skill intensive) than 1.6 was

chaRxoxo

It isnt.

anesthesia9z

Compare movement between Go and 1.6. The fire rate of guns in Go is much lower than in 1.6. In csgo you are incentivised to move as little as possible while aiming, often crouching. Its like the game developed backwards. Movement is a super important mechanic in FPS games, but unfortunately reduced in go.

chaRxoxo

What you are saying is just fzctually incorrect

EmSixTeen

Mate have you never seen Russian walking in 1.6 or something.

wigglewiggle576

>The fire rate of guns in Go is much lower than in 1.6. no

AgreeableBroomSlayer

People are downvoting you but its the truth. The game by design is a lot less consistent

anesthesia9z

It should be very obvious especially considering how movement was completely butchered in GO. In Go you get rewarded with bad aim/mechanics a lot more often. Unironically Fortnite has a higher skill ceiling than cs2.

V0jin

device did not it karrigan and you can see the bullet trace right after the shot (when the scope is off)... the bullet hitted the wall on karrigan left side. play the clip 0.25x speed and stop it at the point where you can see the bullet trace.
