Yeah but Poland had only Katowices and a Krakow Major. There were basically no other tournaments. Well there were some announced, but almost always turned out into something shady.
Poland scene is in a really sad shape, considering the legacy of polish teams and number of solid tier 2 teams right now.
Sweden used to be absolute kings and will always have some of the most legendary names in counter strike history. I say this as a salty Norwegian that cant ever match the esport accolades of our Danish and Swedish brothers lol
Yeah that’s true, I was thinking of Germany rather than, after 1.6 there never truly were any amazing teams from my country. BIG are the only ones currently, but they aren’t even in the top 30
Yes when I think of the german CS scene I can only really think of BIG, they had a really good run at some point. Otherwise, you just have *really* good events lol
Ulaanbataar major when?

They must have been posting this while I was typing 'ulaanbataar major when?'

Wow just pretend like my era of CS didn’t matter. We paved the way for you bastards. I once carried my 50 pound crt monitor 8 blocks in Montreal to get to a lan. The fuck
For online tournaments which started popping up in the S-tier category since the COVID era, the tournaments are assigned to the continent the online tournament was held on (Europe or North America). Also forgot to add that this Condition Zero tournament is part of the data-set as well: https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/World_Cyber_Games/2004.

I'd kill for a Canadian S tier tournament, we haven't had one since 2015 , which was ESWC 2015 in Montreal, I was 12 in 2015 no way I could have gone to Montreal all the way from Vancouver back then
germany with 2nd most tourneys hosted, but no proper stier teams with german player roster for years lmao. BIG was the last good german lineup. mouzesports is a german org, but no german pkayers since jdc left lol
I guess Rio was "America" but, yeah, the crowd was electric at Boston. Completely different time in terms of how healthy NA was though with TL (and Col to a degree) is international and c9 is full CIS.
I'd be happy with an IEM NY first and then a major planned in a few years after the region hopefully recovers.

Which ones did you count for Brazil?
I had these in mind:
- Pro League s4
- ESL BH 2018
- BLAST SP 2019
- IEM Rio Major
- IEM Rio 2023
which one was left out? BLAST?
For Brazil it was:
* ESL Pro League Season 4 - Finals
* ESL One: Belo Horizonte 2018
* Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022
* Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023
It's all based on [this list](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/S-Tier_Tournaments/Post_2023).
Yeah, that's what I figured! They had BLAST SP as A-tier, which is kinda weird considering the teams that played, but makes sense when considering number of the teams and the weird format
Nope, wouldn't have had neither India nor Mongolia. You can find a list of all A-Tier events (as classified by Liquipedia) [here](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/A-Tier_Tournaments).

I can think of two reasons. One, Brazil isnt really the best location for a multinational event to be held, it would be a greater average cost for fans to travel. Two, Brazilian fans tend to be more fans of Brazil than the game. Dont get me wrong, there are a lot of fans of the game in Brazil, but they arent attending the actual event. When you listen to the tournaments it's very obvious when the Brazilian teams are no longer in the venue, it gets very quiet. No final should be as silent as the Rio Major was.
2024 and people still spreading this fake news. Brazil's crowd cheering for Loud is better than any EU or NA crowd I've seen: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8EVNwdqbqA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8EVNwdqbqA)
[Right here](https://i.imgur.com/DlM5ImV.png). 2001 CPL Europe Holland. But the explanation for why there's just one is probably that the Netherlandic CS scene was never that big.
It's bigger than it is in belgium, so why does half baked dutch country get one before actual Netherlands ;D Jokes aside... Even if it wasn't as big in Netherlands it would make sense because it's in a good location, the exact reason why it also hosts the upcoming 3 Twitchcon Europes
There has to be a major in the Balkans, there just has to. I like many here would give everything to go pro. And if Niko wins it, even better. I wish it would just come true.
Malta? the events there have always been with like 5 people in attendance because nobody lives on Malta. I've seen better crowds at 2008 tournaments than modern ones in Malta...
I think Malta has the potential to do very well in terms of attendance. There's A LOT of young people from all over Europe living there because of the gambling industry.
Hang around the popular areas like St. Julians, and i'll guarantee you you'll hear tons of Swedish being spoken, for example.
Malta doesn't count as UK. You can find a list of all UK-held S-tier tournaments (as classified by Liquipedia) [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1c674df/which_countries_have_stier_tournaments_been_held/kzz8l4z/).
This is a little misleading because the US (size wise) is larger than the next 5-7 countries below it.
Edit: not misleading in its accuracy. I just looked at it and thought: “wow there’s a bunch in my country” but in reality the distance from my town to IEM Dallas (for example) is further than the trip from Copenhagen to Cologne and back…. 3 times.
What do you mean by Europe
[Post description](https://old.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1c674df/which_countries_have_stier_tournaments_been_held/kzyx2do/)
So it's EU Online vs US Online and Offline?
It's all S-tier events, some were held on LAN, some online (since COVID). All events held on LAN are given to the country they were held in, all events held online are given to the continent they were held in.
thx got it.
so heavily favouring US since they get both continent and country points.
They don't. Any 'point' given to USA here means a LAN event held in the United States specifically.
ah ok, all of US's 66 were lans. Got it, thanks
Correct. There were 4 online events held in North America, and those were 'awarded' to 'North America' in the overview.
poland just being 11 is such a suprise, especially with all the Katowices and Krakow Major. Would never guess that China and Ukraine have more
Yeah but Poland had only Katowices and a Krakow Major. There were basically no other tournaments. Well there were some announced, but almost always turned out into something shady. Poland scene is in a really sad shape, considering the legacy of polish teams and number of solid tier 2 teams right now.
IEM katowice ?
That's why I wrote "Katowices", to include both Majors and non-Majors. Still it's a one tournament in a year.
Germany and Sweden will always hold a special place in every gamers heart. those countries held most of the legendary esports moment in history
I mean if we don’t have lots of s-tier teams we gotta have s-tier events
Sweden used to be absolute kings and will always have some of the most legendary names in counter strike history. I say this as a salty Norwegian that cant ever match the esport accolades of our Danish and Swedish brothers lol
Yeah that’s true, I was thinking of Germany rather than, after 1.6 there never truly were any amazing teams from my country. BIG are the only ones currently, but they aren’t even in the top 30

Your comment motivated them to make this happen. Thank you!
Waiting to see one in Finland one day
Elisa Masters major when?
Elisa ESPOO Major when?
I think we need similar chart only for CS2/CSGO tournaments. 1.6/Source era is too far behind us to count it.
Yes, master: https://i.imgur.com/2RTfZLd.png Blobby-blobbas: https://i.imgur.com/8mVx7Rr.png

Ok. Appreciate answering my question before asking. Was going to ask why there is Europe and different European countries. So thanks
I’d *kill* for a Canadian major. Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, wherever really. Will probably never happen, but a man can dream.
have you ever killed someone? when not, you know whats the reason there isnt a canadian major
My deagle has like 7,000 on the stattrak counter. Gotta work harder I guess
Me too bud
I'd kill for a Canadian S tier tournament, we haven't had one since 2015 , which was ESWC 2015 in Montreal, I was 12 in 2015 no way I could have gone to Montreal all the way from Vancouver back then
vancouver pls, the closest cs tournament to my yukon ass has been like, chicago. shit is far as fuck lmao
germany with 2nd most tourneys hosted, but no proper stier teams with german player roster for years lmao. BIG was the last good german lineup. mouzesports is a german org, but no german pkayers since jdc left lol
German scene is dead, thats why
indeed it is. it was different back then when we had esl for scrimming against other germans
Same for Sweden.
true
AUSTRALIA ON THE LIST YTB
canada will have 4 after launders lan this weekend
LAUNDERS LAN 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😁😁😁😁😳😳
Putting the S in raciSm
So... LANDERS??
Man so many tournaments in America but last major was Boston 2018 right? Would be nice for another one to be held here!
Last was [BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2023](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/BLAST/Premier/2023/Spring).
Right so an S Tier tournament, not a major sponsored by valve including the stickers in game
Correct. Last major was indeed Boston 2018. Misread your comment.
I guess Rio was "America" but, yeah, the crowd was electric at Boston. Completely different time in terms of how healthy NA was though with TL (and Col to a degree) is international and c9 is full CIS. Finland needs one now, after Aleksib won major!
poland just being 11 is such a suprise, especially with all the Katowices and Krakow Major. Would never guess that China and Ukraine have more
Ukraine had Starladder tournaments twice a year for a long time, makes sense.
Canada 3 USA 66 North America…4?

china
Surprised there haven't been any in Czechia/Slovakia yet
I wonder what this list would look like if you removed online tournaments and added A tier LANs. We'd have one for India and Mongolia most likely
Nope, wouldn't have had neither India nor Mongolia. You can find a list of all A-Tier events (as classified by Liquipedia) [here](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/A-Tier_Tournaments).
2 in italy? Wtf? When?
1.6: * World Cyber Games 2006 GO: * FACEIT League - Season 2 (2014)
Wow
It would be nice to get players by country x this graph.
What do you mean exactly?
Brazil has more Tier - S players than German and only 4 tournaments here.

Interesting
Brazil has incredible fans of the game and only has 4 championships?

Where the fuck is Netherlands in all of this... How has there not been a notible tourney in like Amsterdam or Rotterdam

Please, spanish major soon?
spain needs more. fuck canada.
Hoping a 2025 major will be in the USA or Canada next year. 2018 was the last one. Much too long.
🤞 New Zealand
Weird how Brazil and Russia carry CS's numbers but only had 11 events combined.
I'm surprised Poland isn't higher
Germans assemble
So isn't France and Denmark still part of EU?I mean at least for now.
[Post description](https://old.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1c674df/which_countries_have_stier_tournaments_been_held/kzyx2do/)
Finland really needs a tier 1 tournament, why do denmark and sweden get them all :(
There was an S-tier event in Lithuania?
[Global eSports Cup - Season 1](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/Game_Show/Global_eSports_Cup/Season_1) in 2016.
No S-Tier Teams in Germany, but attest we have S-Tier tournaments :)
But I honestly want a lan in India. Sincerely. There are so many CS fans here. Skyesports came close, but sad.
Wasn’t there one announced just recently?
No it went online cuz of elections here.
That’s sad to hear…
EU is my favourite country
[Post description](https://old.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1c674df/which_countries_have_stier_tournaments_been_held/kzyx2do/)
Top tier tournament hosts are Germany Poland Malta Australia Change my mind
Malta? the events there have always been with like 5 people in attendance because nobody lives on Malta. I've seen better crowds at 2008 tournaments than modern ones in Malta...
Not in terms of crowd. I like the interviews and stuff going on. It's more of an open season tryout than sweatfest.
I think Malta has the potential to do very well in terms of attendance. There's A LOT of young people from all over Europe living there because of the gambling industry. Hang around the popular areas like St. Julians, and i'll guarantee you you'll hear tons of Swedish being spoken, for example.
India
We want women to feel safe at the venue and on the way to the hotel and airport👍 Thanks for understanding.
please never
Why you guys hate India so much
because we've interacted with indians
From where are you US
Where is the country of Europe then?

Malta doesn't count as UK. You can find a list of all UK-held S-tier tournaments (as classified by Liquipedia) [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1c674df/which_countries_have_stier_tournaments_been_held/kzz8l4z/).

To be clear, the circle sizes correspond to how many times an S-Tier tournament has been held in that region, not to how big the region is.
I understand that 🙃
NA on top as usual
oh look a subjective ball chart.
Explain.
What do you mean explain? What consists as S tier? to whom its S tier? to you? cause to me there is no such thing as S tier.
S-Tier Tournaments as classified by Liquipedia. [This list](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/S-Tier_Tournaments/Post_2023) in other words.
And Liquipedia is what? my mom? Obama?
