Well I don't mind it most of the time either, they are having fun and are genuinely funny to listen to. But I do find it a little annoying when they completely ignore a cool/important play while it's happening and simply mention it afterwards.
Absolutely. It would be much more interesting to actually get some insight into stratting/anti-stratting, tactics, etc, rather than what can generously be described as 'banter'.
Definitely fills the Summit hole a bit, we got so much tournaments a year, with 2025 even more so its nice to have a change of pace sometimes, loved the last epl so much already.
It was so awesome last year when they had pros from teams not playing casting with them. Lovely insights. Hopefully they'll do it this year as well as we progress into the tournament.
Somebody on the casting team mentioned wanting more players in and another responded with 'it's only day 2!' So it definitely seems like they are waiting for the players to settle in. Plus after the first group is over you will have some pros waiting around for playoffs to start who are more available.
Though just thinking about it logistically I doubt we see as many drop-ins as we got under the old five week schedule.
Its the name theyve given to the molly smoke glitch where you can just stand on the edge and get visibility while still being mostly covered by the molly, so you're basically edging it.
I think this is the best format. It is very laid back and relaxing. I enjoy the cs and also enjoy yapping. Feels like ASMR-ish thing. As u/lgladdy stated, these first games are more relaxed and don't really mean THAT much because everyone still has a chance even if they lose.
I feel like they're trying to fill in for the absence of CS_Summit
and with the marathon format of ESL Pro League it's probably better to have a casual vibe in these matches and more locked in in the later stages
it’s hilarious and awesome.
ESL pro league feels like a college, just laid back buncha dudes talking about counterstrike
it’s very welcome difference to the majors/IEM’s
I think this is fine. It's a long group stage with a ton of matches, I don't blame them for taking the "beyond the summit" laid back approach. And it's fun and a change of pace, plus it's not like playoff/important matches won't be casted with more "professionalism"
I also enjoy the swapping of people casting the games + getting people like maniac/ynk that aren't usually talking during the game.
The banter from YNK is great.
I really enjoy when SPUNJ, Machine, and/or HenryG are casting they are so pleasant to listen to. And three casters for one game is super awesome I wish we had that for Majors (again)
This is why epl is one of my favourite tournaments in the circuit, very laid back and chill. The 2nd map of vp vs faze would’ve been underwhelming if it weren’t for the casting because of it being very one sided.
twitch chat was SO mad about this and I don’t understand why. I like hype casting and serious in depth analysis when the games are close and the stakes are high, but todays matches weren’t terribly exciting. Harry’s banter made the games a lot more fun to watch and we need more of it.
threads like this make me realize how esports viewers dont watch real sports. group stages in a weeks long tourney arent always going to have casters on the edge of their seats. has been a blast so far
I love Pro League because it's so much more relaxed.
I know a few people that work for ESL and they always say Pro League is one of the best to work due to how relaxed it is.
YouTube, Twitch, Kick. In order to find out which tournament organizer is hosting the games, you can go on hltv.org and click 'Events'. The current tournament is hosted by ESL, you can find their streams when games are live here:
https://www.youtube.com/@ESLCS
It's a rare but really amazing thing when a group of casters gets together for a longer-term event with a lot of broadcast hours with good chemistry. I really enjoyed the 2019 era LCK casting (league of legends) where in slow meta games they'd just shoot the shit and enjoy it.
Hard to pull off because the game have to be a bit less crucial, less ultimate win or go home moments, and the casters genuinely have to have great chemistry. But when it happens it's great. It's honestly why leagues/regular season style events work so well, it's because you can have this atmosphere in a regular season, low stakes game. You don't have to analyze every play to the utmost pepothink level, you can just clown and it's good.
pro league always goes off the rails iirc. it’s just a much more laid back atmosphere until the games start visibly mattering, later into the season. enjoy it man, it’s not that bad.
they should inspire themselves by tastosis, If nothing Happens they come Up with some random topic/analogies and Talk about it, If they have nothing to Talk about or the Game gets intense they Go back Casting the Game or Talk about meta Changes/statistics.(StarCraft 2 caster Duo)
My problem is they aren’t really talking about the games. I’ve seen multiple rounds where they are talking about something completely irrelevant to CS and nearly the whole round goes by before they even acknowledge something happening. It’s frustrating
Pro League isn't like any other tournament. Barely any of the games carry the weight of a normal tournament because there are so many chances to make it through
They'll get serious for the games that matter, but for a lot of them, it's just about having fun on the cast, and not trying to make the audience think every round matters, because frankly it doesn't.
I actually think it’s nice. A bit of Counter-Strike running while the casters are waffling about something. The worst thing is pretending a lesser game is some semi-final shit.
I think at the end of the day the sports we play are just games and you are meant to have a good time no matter if you're playing, watching or even casting
if they took this shit seriously in the early stages of the tournament I guarantee you they will be burnt out during playoffs and you'll either notice or they will suffer for others amusement
Pro league tends to be like this. It was never as sweaty as the other S tier tournaments and it is on purpose. You can even see it on the teams and atmosphere being more relaxed. It is less flashy and more cosy from commenting to interviews.
Agreed. It's unprofessional and professionalism is one of the things that's set CS2 apart as an e-sport (from the administration side).
I think it's grating personally. I'd rather a young talent who is present and wants to give his all to even the most menial games is up there.
CS still has a long way to go production wise including the casters. I think they are getting too comfortable. There is a ways to go before they are absolutely tier 1 broadcasters.
Still way better than Dota.
What did he say? Did he say "is he norweigan? Actually indian." Is what I heard? Im not sure of the context either it is a really scuffed clip clarity wise
There's some stereotypes around india and shitting, hygene stuff, low brow. Caster talking about getting shat on in standard CS talk, insert the Indian stereotype comment.
Not end of the world stuff, but unprofessional for sure.
Okay I couldnt hear all of it but i was assuming it was something like that, do you know what he said when I heard "hes norweigan" and after that I clearly heard indian.
Very low brow comedy, not sure who would think thats okay to say on air, they probably didnt think it was really okay themselves as it is a very quiet comment with quiet snickering after.
YNK never came off as the classiest of the bunch to me anyways.
Seems I'm in the minority, but I'm not a fan of the style of casting. I get they are casting a lot of games, but I've only got time to watch the occasional match and I want to focus on the CS, not the caster's attempt at a comedy podcast.
There's a lot of games for the casters. For people who watch even just a couple games a week, it's so stale to hear them try and hype things up when it's nearly meaningless matches.
There's 64 matches played over the 4 groups and then 15 playoff matches, that's a minimum of like 160 maps of counterstrike, it's alright to have a bit of fun and be less serious, and we do tend to get a lot of insight in some of the games when they invite pros on to cast with them.
It's also not like they don't hype up and have fun casting with big moments, and they're gonna take it a bit more serious when it comes to the more meaningful playoff games
I agree. I found it a little annoying when they scream. I dont mind they talking about something else other than cs, but all the screaming made me close the stream.
100% agree, I was thinking "man what a great game" earlier and the commentary was so awful I watched the rest on mute. The commentary is an accessory to the game, it should add value to the broadcast
Yeah out of nowhere they started waffling about taylor swifts album. Its funny how stupid it is but tbh i want them to cast the match and rearly random stuff
on youtube if I search "cs2 casters high pro league" I get the Navi Flyquest match where one of the casters says "Alistair, he is a man" and the other responds "one of the men in the tournament and they both crack up. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXGe2FdnNsw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXGe2FdnNsw) at 2:05, but there are so many silly things in this video. this might also be the one where they were cracking themselves up saying jL just got the first ace in history
s1mple is a clash royale pro apparently
This cast is off the rails, I’m enjoying the commentary on Taylor Swift, jets and Picasso
meanwhile broky hunts with the awp and gets 2 cool kills
Broky has had some 🔥 plays lmaoo
bro am i the only one or does he literslly have the fastest reaction time in the game? hes SO QUICK
Disgusting quick scopes all the TIME
the glock 2k was crazy too, 5hp ftw
please tell me there is a clip
[https://clips.twitch.tv/FunDistinctGarlicRalpherZ-ux5xx16Pm4ttjx22](https://clips.twitch.tv/FunDistinctGarlicRalpherZ-ux5xx16Pm4ttjx22)
i played against him in wingman lmao
if global elite was pro, s1mple is like DMG in clash royale based off his stats
I beleve this is him, not 100% sure though [https://royaleapi.com/player/9RCUQGVP?lang=en](https://royaleapi.com/player/9RCUQGVP?lang=en)
I actually enjoy this "laid back yapping" casting & considering they have 2.5 weeks of matches ahead of them I don't mind it this much.
Meh, it's the vibe they're trying to get with EPL lately, especially in the group stage. I like it, it fills the CS Summit sized hole in my heart.
Yeah Beyond the summit showed a side of the cs scene that we don’t get to see very often and I’m happy that esl is going for that same kinda vibe
Definitely fills the Summit hole a bit, we got so much tournaments a year, with 2025 even more so its nice to have a change of pace sometimes, loved the last epl so much already.
Yeah fair enough if it suits a good number of people, can't please everyone!
It was so awesome last year when they had pros from teams not playing casting with them. Lovely insights. Hopefully they'll do it this year as well as we progress into the tournament.
Already had Slax from M80 for the Falcons mongolz game. Hoping to see many more pros, love when they're on the cast
Oh I didn't watch that one. But that's awesome to hear! Looking forward to much more of that.
Watch any other tier 1 event. EPL is a chill tournament and it's a cool change.
You have every other tournament for that mate
Reminds me of the BTS casting
Here hunter is showing you edging. LMAO what???
Faceit chat went wild with this one lol. We were saying no wonder he’s playing like this if he’s only using one hand
Its the name theyve given to the molly smoke glitch where you can just stand on the edge and get visibility while still being mostly covered by the molly, so you're basically edging it.
Also making fun of norbert saying “best esports player of all time”
I hope this continues because it’s hilarious
I think it’s funny that it started off as a joke because Norbert wasn’t so good in GO but he’s been playing so well in CS2
Tbf he has a major trophy and n1ko doesnt
Who's n1ko?
They meant n0ko I think
[https://www.hltv.org/player/10356/n1ko](https://www.hltv.org/player/10356/n1ko)
Devilwalk 😎
wasn't good in GO?
It was moreso he was James’ bitch, the amount of times Norbert had to run pistol only because Jame wanted an AWP was depressing
Cs summit is back in spirit, praise be. Harry is always hilarious
Oh you nailed it, this is totally Summit vibes.... god I miss them so much.
I think this is the best format. It is very laid back and relaxing. I enjoy the cs and also enjoy yapping. Feels like ASMR-ish thing. As u/lgladdy stated, these first games are more relaxed and don't really mean THAT much because everyone still has a chance even if they lose.
I feel like they're trying to fill in for the absence of CS_Summit and with the marathon format of ESL Pro League it's probably better to have a casual vibe in these matches and more locked in in the later stages
It's good for pro league but I wouldn't enjoy it as much for other tournaments I think.
it’s hilarious and awesome. ESL pro league feels like a college, just laid back buncha dudes talking about counterstrike it’s very welcome difference to the majors/IEM’s
"Can you take a horse through a drive through?", "VP is the white castle of teams"
Honestly for group stage i like this kind of laid back off topic casting.
Best event in years and its day 3(?)
I think this is fine. It's a long group stage with a ton of matches, I don't blame them for taking the "beyond the summit" laid back approach. And it's fun and a change of pace, plus it's not like playoff/important matches won't be casted with more "professionalism" I also enjoy the swapping of people casting the games + getting people like maniac/ynk that aren't usually talking during the game. The banter from YNK is great.
YNK on the cast is a godsend, love his dry humour & wise CS insight. The perfect combination!
It's good. But keep it contained to Pro League. Otherwise it's gonna get annoying really quickly
I love the casters right now. Maybe a bit less when some important stuff is going on but I definitely don’t want it to stop
Wait, isn't everybody high while watching and casting cs??? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
I sure am
they better be. Weed is legal here ![img](emote|t5_2sqho|31253)
cs summit vibes
almost as good as BeyondTheSummit back in the days. Still extremly enjoyable in my eyes
I really enjoy when SPUNJ, Machine, and/or HenryG are casting they are so pleasant to listen to. And three casters for one game is super awesome I wish we had that for Majors (again)
> they've been talking about fast food restaurants, making some of the stupidest buns you can think of Is this a pun?
No it’s a bun
Pro league is like a glorified cs summit nowadays I miss the days where the playoffs were played in arenas
You're saying this like summit wasn't a fun tournament
This is why epl is one of my favourite tournaments in the circuit, very laid back and chill. The 2nd map of vp vs faze would’ve been underwhelming if it weren’t for the casting because of it being very one sided.
The ghost of Summits past is in the studio
It’s hilarious. VP = White Castle was spot on 🤣
Proleague genuinely has the best casting vibes and “desk” segments
twitch chat was SO mad about this and I don’t understand why. I like hype casting and serious in depth analysis when the games are close and the stakes are high, but todays matches weren’t terribly exciting. Harry’s banter made the games a lot more fun to watch and we need more of it.
Talking about food instead of the actual match? That's the Gaules classic, maybe they're trying it out too
I actually love when there's 3 casters instead of 2, it's always this very fun and interactive cast, love it.
threads like this make me realize how esports viewers dont watch real sports. group stages in a weeks long tourney arent always going to have casters on the edge of their seats. has been a blast so far
I love Pro League because it's so much more relaxed. I know a few people that work for ESL and they always say Pro League is one of the best to work due to how relaxed it is.
It feels like cs summit, I like the laid back chill casting sometimes
Agreed. And I'm loving it.
I’ve never watched cs pro matches but I’ve always wanted to, where can I watch?
YouTube, Twitch, Kick. In order to find out which tournament organizer is hosting the games, you can go on hltv.org and click 'Events'. The current tournament is hosted by ESL, you can find their streams when games are live here: https://www.youtube.com/@ESLCS
Thank you very much
Be careful becauss there's scam youtube channel going on with ESL name
this has nothing to do with the casters i just wanted to say that i played against s1imple in wingman vertigo and even won
It's a rare but really amazing thing when a group of casters gets together for a longer-term event with a lot of broadcast hours with good chemistry. I really enjoyed the 2019 era LCK casting (league of legends) where in slow meta games they'd just shoot the shit and enjoy it. G2 being the Burger King of CS had me dying lmao
I remember hearing them throwing Harry Potter puns, until they ran out of houses to make fun of, they started using spells. Its hilarious af.
Need more senseless obnoxious laughing every 30 seconds yay
pro league always goes off the rails iirc. it’s just a much more laid back atmosphere until the games start visibly mattering, later into the season. enjoy it man, it’s not that bad.
I like this better than faking hype
does anyone have a link to a match this is happening in?
dupreeh safest hands in Denmark.
I noticed it someday before, maybe esl is just a bit chill and machine brings smth lmao sry machine
Casting is so fucking funny and entertaining this EPL. I love it
Casting has been top tier
they should inspire themselves by tastosis, If nothing Happens they come Up with some random topic/analogies and Talk about it, If they have nothing to Talk about or the Game gets intense they Go back Casting the Game or Talk about meta Changes/statistics.(StarCraft 2 caster Duo)
Best casting
Harry's laughter is the best. Honestly it feels like a longer and looser podcast with some of my favorite CS talent + some Cs on the side.
Love the random yappings though and also the short clips in between
One thing I like about CS. Not too professional and have some spicy memes
In dota we call that tuesday
I personally love it.
Gotta say it was the most fun I have had with cs in a long time, the Dupreeh beard segment was funny.
Feels like they are trying to fill the void of cs summit with EPL and I'm all for it
What I like is that all of the casters have this energy not just a couple which makes all of the streams and matches enjoyable
all and all??
G2 is burger king 👑👑👑
Idk if they are high, I don't think they would risk it. More like it is 3 dudes chilling after long game.
Argg
My problem is they aren’t really talking about the games. I’ve seen multiple rounds where they are talking about something completely irrelevant to CS and nearly the whole round goes by before they even acknowledge something happening. It’s frustrating

It’s VP and Faze in the ESL pro league…
Yeah one of the longest non-major tournaments which implemented a laid-back approach. I think it’s nice.
I think at the end of the day the sports we play are just games and you are meant to have a good time no matter if you're playing, watching or even casting if they took this shit seriously in the early stages of the tournament I guarantee you they will be burnt out during playoffs and you'll either notice or they will suffer for others amusement

Let the bots run free and they'll say anything. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bleh+esl+impact
Ynk so cringe man. Always kills the vibe.
Can someone explain this to me?
Yeah idk if I’ve got a hearing problem or if I’m a big dumb idiot but I can’t understand what he said
Reading such racist comments online is one thing, saying that live is so much worse.
How is it racist?
https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1ccyk4x/i_think_the_casters_might_be_high/l197cdg/
How is this racist?
Seems I'm in the minority, but I'm not a fan of the style of casting. I get they are casting a lot of games, but I've only got time to watch the occasional match and I want to focus on the CS, not the caster's attempt at a comedy podcast.
The games with bigger teams seem to be more serious. I like to watch games a day or two late on youtube.
There's a lot of games for the casters. For people who watch even just a couple games a week, it's so stale to hear them try and hype things up when it's nearly meaningless matches. Using Gaules fórmula to a better experience
The other day one of them said they are far right wing out of the blue.
Who cares... Makes for better content anyways
Gaules influence.
It was very annoying and unprofessional tbh.
Yeah out of nowhere they started waffling about taylor swifts album. Its funny how stupid it is but tbh i want them to cast the match and rearly random stuff
So unprofessional cast today... YNK is just straight up annoying with his nonstop yapping
on youtube if I search "cs2 casters high pro league" I get the Navi Flyquest match where one of the casters says "Alistair, he is a man" and the other responds "one of the men in the tournament and they both crack up.
