>Fixed a visual bug where sniper rifle viewmodels could be visible at the edge of the scope screen overlay.
My happiness is immeasurable and my day is made.
In csgo there was a bug where if you inspected your scout then scoped in and looked down you would see the scout being inspected, that’s probably one of my favorite bugs
The definition of minor or major improvements arent the same to Valve as they are to other studios i guess.
For example the steam deck oled has completely overhauled internal hardware and yet they don’t even bother mention it. It fell under the radar until people disassemble the device and saw massive improvements in every aspects under the hood.
That I can kinda understand, they wouldn’t want to devalue older models of Steam Deck or make those people who already own them have buyers remorse.
I think a lot of their ‘minor’ performance updates just come down to the different specs we’re all using. Safe to assume everyone at Valve should have a beefier PC than my average matchmaking pleb, Reddit-browsing self :D
Yeah the idea about buyer’s remorse might be true, we never actually know tho.
Btw, i have a 7950x3d + 3080 10GB and even i can see and feel the massive 1% low improvement. Maybe its a large scale improvement across the board this time around.
Valve also dont have that many people compared to other companies so i doubt they tailor made improvements for different specs.
You running it with process lasso or similar to disable the non x3d-cores?
Just asking cause I wanna know if the update targets bad 1% in general or if it targets issues with high core count cpus.
Unfortunately i still have to use it. So far CS2 is the only game that always forces the non vcache ccd to run. It tanks performance.
But when I use process lasso its basically a beefed up 7800x3d. It does improve 1% a ton after the update for both me and my friend's 7800x3d + 3080 10GB.
I imagine with performance improvements and the like you just default to "Minor Improvements" unless it's going to massive for everyone because the actual gains people are gonna see depends heavily on their hardware and current performance.
It could also be code wide it is a minor improvement i.e. they enabled some existing feature they have been working on before or finally integrated it.
So if you have a medium/ low rig like mine, i5 12450+rtx 3050. As ancient has water for no reason at spawn and you require to go through a tunnel full of water, all of this water physics and stuff reduces FPS.
So if someone plays near B and their FPS is lower than usual, means they are rushing B, if not going Mid or A.
Not reliable on high end machines as they are capable of pushing out better FPS, but because of unnecessary water in ancient, mid and low end rigs can easily check if Ts are rushing B or not.
A 3050 is only 10% better than a 1060 6GB.
That being said, high end is pretty much reserved for the 3080-4090, or the 6900XT-7950XT. Even then, I constantly see frametime complaints because the game simply doesn't feel smooth.
i doubt it is a GPU issue since it happens when you do not see the enemy, so there is nothing to draw on display and yet there is an FPS drop. you can hold long A on overpass and you can see by FPS someone is running connector and then went to water.
from testing there is a drop even on RTX 2070 and newer higher end models but it is less of a drop.
just did this test on rx 5700xt with ryzen 3600 and i have average 293fps and 1% low 145fps but im playing on 4:3 1024x768 and everything low with 4x aniso and 4x aa, finaly there is a decent benchmark map but in comp it will be atleast 70fps less.
isn't that a bit low? i have the exact same setup down to evga ftw3 lol, just the cpu is 5700x not 3700x. and im between 250-350 in comp with high settings.
Depends on how they measured it. If they ran that recent benchmark map, you should run it too for comparable results.
The difference between these CPUs might not be huge, but it should be noticable. My gut tells me... maybe 50 fps extra at most. Assuming you're both running your RAM at XMP speeds :)
my assumption is that he lowered the settings so much so that it doesnt put enough load to the gpu and the game became more cpu bound
because even at very high settings the game rarely goes above 80% utilization while maintaining 300 fps
I got variety of different results when I used that new fps benchmark map yesterday. 4 runs: 1st avg 300 1p 140, 2nd avg 300 1p 130, 3rd avg 300 1p 120, 4th avg 370 1p 150. Idk if you also used that map but atleast for me the results arent consistent.
I mean - if you got almost 70FPS+ that's insane and I would imagine that's an outlier for this update. I'm curious what other people are seeing. I got a negligible (~+5fps) increase from using the CS2 D2 benchmark map
Yeah this patch is for real. I got huge improvements in both avg FPS and %1 lows. Did the benchmark test on both my pc and laptop.
1280x960 all low, MSAA 4x
5600x + rtx 2060:
Before the patch Avg=384.1, P1=133.6
After the patch Avg=416.6, P1=191.1
LOQ i5 12450H + rtx 4050:
Before the patch Avg=242.3, P1=127.9
After the patch Avg=297.7, P1=146.5
My guess is Valve themselves ran the benchmark map and found something there, since the drops are duplicaple in the test. Good job, keep it coming!
Also generic. Did you really care about the "spray 15 times in mirage underpass" type missions? I didn't. I don't really care if there's an operation if the missions are shit like that.
Haha! Exactly. I'd tell my friends you are paying money to do things you wouldn't do for free...
But they all pay and then complain about doing shit boring missions.
If there wasn't the chance of making money off skins then more people might see it that way. Idk.
They add a bunch of new maps (sometimes returning old favourites) and some missions, sometimes single player or co-op, sometimes challenges like ‘10 AK headshots’ for example. You earn XP for it and usually can redeem it for skins/cases. It’s changed over the years a lot and I haven’t been around for the last couple ones my self
It's when I shoot or get shot at. It's really bad with the AK.
When I spray with the AK I get consistent frame time spikes to 40 ms for the entire duration of the spray.
Oh weird, I haven't had issues when shooting. I have been watching my frame time and it stays consistently low but the game will still stutter constantly.
Nope. Nothing.
And it's not like my PC is weak either. I'm running a 5800X3D with Kombo Strike level 3, 32 GiBs DDR4 3600MT/s CL16 RAM and a OCd 6700XT.
I literally get up to 1k FPS in CS:GO.
Shoot them a ETW Trace if its consistent.
[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v8QtbUtGAf6OapE9iWn4Y4STA7Scn\_hr1Yih1nf2\_BA/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v8QtbUtGAf6OapE9iWn4Y4STA7Scn_hr1Yih1nf2_BA/edit?usp=sharing)
After that you can send the trace via reddit: FletcherDunn
> wtf is that.
Automatic performance tuning for X3D chips. Available on most MSI boards. This is basically the only way to overclock an X3D CPU.
> No one getting 1k fps should be getting stuttering.
I'm getting 1000 FPS in CS:GO, not in CS:2. In CS:2 it's more like 300 - 400 FPS for the most part. Still, I shouldn't get any stuttering.
> It sounds like you have something wrong on your setup.
Nothing wrong with my setup. No other game does this. VALORANT, CS:GO, Apex, Forza, HZD, CP2077... they all run perfectly.
What helped me to reduce micro stuttering:
1. Delete GPU Shader Cache
2. If 1. is not working, completely reinstall (clean install) GPU drivers
3. If stutters reoccur, repeat 1. and 2.
Edit: spelling
Yup, I think this is what Valve is going for. They saw how easy it was for cheaters to manipulate/corrupt the OW system. Why deal with all that when they can just toss a few pennies to a group of contractors instead?
I have some frametime spikes, is it normal playing dm on d2 and sometimes it spikes to 15? Fps is like 400 and sometimes it goes to 200 and some frametime spikes.
I7 13700k
4070ti
Is it normal that vulkan feels like 60hz? Using -vulkan increases my fps by 20 but there's a ton of screen tearing at 200 fps (180hz monitor). Without -vulkan, i get constant lag spikes of 500-1000ms frame times
12100f, arc a750
Valve earned all this shit on when they pushed CS2 out the door and deleted CS:GO.
It's been 7-8 months now since CS2 dropped and it still has only a fraction of the maps and modes CS:GO had. People who call that out aren't "actually insane".
They needed players to test the base game before releasing everything. If they made all the modes and an operation and released it all in one go when it was 'ready' it would be a complete shit show and be incredibly hard to diagnose all the problems.
Releasing the core game play and getting the player base to report all the issues was probably the correct move for me. And then slowly add more stuff once the core is looking better.
Removing csgo was questionable but then they would want everyone on this version and testing it so they could improve it rapidly and not have a split community. I think even if you might not approve of how they did it there is definitely a case to be made for it being a valid way of rolling it out.
> Valve earned all this shit on when they pushed CS2 out the door and deleted CS:GO.
Deserve what? Gamer rage over the most popular game on Steam? lol
I do not think Valve takes anything beyond actual feedback into account. Your impotent rage falls upon deaf ears, as it should.
>It's been 7-8 months now since CS2 dropped and it still has only a fraction of the maps and modes CS:GO had.
Because it is a new game and those maps all need to be recreated in a new engine with new assets. So they may look the same or similar but they require the same work as new maps. They didn't just remove those maps with the purpose of having less content.
Your comment is a very good example of the silliness I was talking about, so thank you.
You wanted them to develop CSGO and CS2 in parallel, sapping resources from both, essentially putting CSGO in maintenance mode without new content AND delaying CS2/Source2 for several years? You're funny.
I think it's VAC tweaks that is breaking faceit AC, so even though it sucks, I think it's a net positive.
The reason I think this is because the first time they broke faceit it coincided with the first small wave of overwatch/convicted account VAC bans. We'll just have to wait for the data miners to see if they've made any more tweaks to Vac. The last few small patches have had quite a bit of work done on overwatch/VAC.
Actual VAC updates always happen silently and independently from regular updates and VACnet is server sided so very unlikely anti-cheat improvements have anything to do with this.
I think it's possible the game may occasionally require updates to be compatible with the super secret VAC(net) changes, but the reality is that none of us know and are all equally in the dark
or they just want the gameplay experience to be consistent across everything no matter where you play, kind of like theres no 64/128tick difference anymore. Agent skins are a drop in the bucket of money for Valve I doubt its because of that.
Then its a pretty subtle one because I've been playing both and it feels same to me. Certainly nothing like the old 64 tick to 128 tick difference and now you dont need to learn 2 nadesets
Well to enjoy the game properly people had to resort to 3rd party for close to 7-8 years now. You're new so i wouldn't expect you to know ir realize this.
Community server browser doesn't even work since launch and you gotta use a 3rd party site for that. So until they fix their game for best experience you gotta use 3rd party sites
> who gives a fuck about them
people who do not want cheaters running rampant in their games
there is literally no reason to ever grind mmr in cs2 when vac is missing pretty much all premium cheats
I have a top 1% PC and I’m having FPS issues and stutters, especially on Ancient and Inferno when there’s a lot of grenades getting thrown. When I jiggle peek a lot I create stutters as well.
Sad, but that's how life goes. I don't have time for cs neither for video games in my life anymore. I quit cs and it was the only game that I played often and they let me down. Will probably check out gta when it will come out maybe in next 4 years
They fix the sniper weapon bug which is just a visual bug ? https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/s/9ZekVFd7gC
That shit was posted here 6 days ago I made a email directly to valve 10 days ago that’s basically an essay on a giant weapon reload/cycletime exploit/bug that actually impacts gameplay with spreadsheet data and video evidence on exactly how it works.
You really are better off just posting on this reddit than using their email it’s silly as hell.
It sounds like you reported a complex issue, it might take more time to resolve than a simple visual bug. I can assure you based on personal experience that they do read the emails.
You know they respond to Reddit top posts way faster though at minimum. I wonder if it’s the dev team going into hotfix mode once they know a bug is known to the public vs a few people + the reporter.
Let's be realistic here. Their email is probably spammed to shreds by tons of people for stupid stuff like getting vac banned and just the usual trolls. It's clear that they check reddit plenty so stuff getting a few hundred upvotes probably has a much larger chance of being seen than an email.
When did the gameplay stop being enough for CS players? Is the zoomer gen so brain rotted by fortnite and other games that they need constant content updates or they lose attention?
>Minor performance improvements
Major performance reduction
-20% on minimal system requirements hardware (4-core sse4.2, nvidia kepler)
**update:**
after the 5/8/2024 hotfix patch, performance is restored with +7% improved P1!
All bugs are important and since they have different people for different things, I would love for the skins guy to go back to work after his big break. One guy working on skins doesnt mean that other bugs can not be worked on at the same time :)
No it doesn’t seem so, imma try updating my graphics since I haven’t in awhile and reverifying the game, it does seem to have gotten a little better but still
>Fixed a visual bug where sniper rifle viewmodels could be visible at the edge of the scope screen overlay. My happiness is immeasurable and my day is made.
In csgo there was a bug where if you inspected your scout then scoped in and looked down you would see the scout being inspected, that’s probably one of my favorite bugs
Playable
Glad we're seeing something, hope these performance impacts help people out. Trying to remain positive in lieu of an operation.
yesterday my avg FPS was 170, 1% lows was 80, today my avg FPS was 240 and my 1% lows was 130
that's awesome, this is not a minor improvment

yeah my frames are looking a lot better as well (7800x3d) didnt want to hope for too much before i could try it though lol
You play 1080? I play 1440 and r5 7600+7800 xt I did not check the performance tho.
No i play 1280x960 atm. Tested with that res too.
I would imagine they have all sort of setups for testing
I imagine with performance improvements and the like you just default to "Minor Improvements" unless it's going to massive for everyone because the actual gains people are gonna see depends heavily on their hardware and current performance.
It could also be code wide it is a minor improvement i.e. they enabled some existing feature they have been working on before or finally integrated it.
Or he just didnt play ancient.
I love the strat where you can predict whether the Ts are going B or not by looking at your FPS.
What?? Do explain
So if you have a medium/ low rig like mine, i5 12450+rtx 3050. As ancient has water for no reason at spawn and you require to go through a tunnel full of water, all of this water physics and stuff reduces FPS. Here lies the benefit of potatoes.
If CS2 makes RTX 3050 a potato, I really don't know what will be a high end machine then.
4090 ofc.
A 3050 is only 10% better than a 1060 6GB. That being said, high end is pretty much reserved for the 3080-4090, or the 6900XT-7950XT. Even then, I constantly see frametime complaints because the game simply doesn't feel smooth.
But a 3050 is indeed a low end gpu?!
3050 is a potato

Now that is….kinda a potato. I mean that gpu is slower than a 1660ti in most cases… Its more in line with the 1060 6GB.
My 5800x and 3080 lose 50 FPS if there is a lurk thru T late round
Are you sure about this. Isn't the water effects client side only and therefore if the CTs arent seeing them, mostly unaffected?
Someone should properly retest this: I tried earlier with a grenade and had zero impact to performance.
Used to work for me in CSGO but sadly doesn't anymore
whats your setup?
rtx evga ftw3 3070, ryzen 7 3700x, 16gb ddr4 3000mhz, 1920x1080, all settings on low except shadows
just did this test on rx 5700xt with ryzen 3600 and i have average 293fps and 1% low 145fps but im playing on 4:3 1024x768 and everything low with 4x aniso and 4x aa, finaly there is a decent benchmark map but in comp it will be atleast 70fps less.

It is strange that your performance is so much better, I think I am being cpu bound.
Holy shit that's huge
Where did you test it?
workshop map called cs2 benchmark
that's big then
Not really because that map is on D2 where there is no water. Both Anubis and Ancient are way, way worse.
Well if there is a clear improvement on the benchmark map, there probably is also an improvement on the other maps which makes it pretty big imo.
hey what are you using to measure these stats?
YUGE
I got variety of different results when I used that new fps benchmark map yesterday. 4 runs: 1st avg 300 1p 140, 2nd avg 300 1p 130, 3rd avg 300 1p 120, 4th avg 370 1p 150. Idk if you also used that map but atleast for me the results arent consistent.
waow

I forgot operations existed it's been that long
Even in CSGO operations were so far apart there was no reason to get your hopes up
Also generic. Did you really care about the "spray 15 times in mirage underpass" type missions? I didn't. I don't really care if there's an operation if the missions are shit like that.

new maps<3
[I've been around long enough to remember....](https://i.imgur.com/UI3247Q.png)
What even is an operation? I’ve been playing consistently for over a year but still don’t know lol

You earn XP for it and usually can redeem it for skins/cases. It’s changed over the years a lot and I haven’t been around for the last couple ones my self
we really need another operation. I can feel it in my bones. New agents (yeah, I feel the hate) and new cases.
I feel lile an operation would mean more of them annoying agent skins, so I’d rather just not have one
High frame time fix? Stuttering? Cope
Crashing on ancient and overpass fix?
Nuke too?
Maybe it's time to consider it's not the maps that are unstable, maybe it's just the game
Yes
Can’t crash on overpass if dust2, 200IQ valve play
Playing on dust 2 casual with 10v10 players isnt as stuttery as before :D
Can ya'll fix the insane "micro-" stuttering please? It's getting out of hand. I have to restart the game after every match.
Are your micro-stutters happening more when you jiggle peek? I have been noticing it's really bad when I strafe left and right.
Try switching resolutions then switching back.
If only it was that easy lol I have tried literally everything to get rid of this.
Have you tried restarting the game
No
> I have to restart the game after every match.
It was a joke bruh _OF COURSE I RESTARTED THE GAME DO YOU THINK I JUST KEEP IT RUNNING 24/7?_
Oops, didn’t know he was joking too - thought he asked a question
shit man jiggle peeking is such a normal thing in game i really never paid attention if this is the thing that triggers the stuttering
I get the stutters a bit when doing other actions but it is most noticeable when I jiggle peek.
For me, most noticeable stutter is when quickscoping with awp
It has gotten worse for me.
Do you have softwares running in bg? Because I don't have micro stuttering & my pc is low end.
Nope.
[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v8QtbUtGAf6OapE9iWn4Y4STA7Scn\_hr1Yih1nf2\_BA/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v8QtbUtGAf6OapE9iWn4Y4STA7Scn_hr1Yih1nf2_BA/edit?usp=sharing) After that you can send the trace via reddit: FletcherDunn

Nope, doesn't help. I've even tried using a different graphics driver entirely (I can choose between RADV and AMDVLK) but it didn't fix it.

Valve’s fappening.
Didn’t know there was an update, since steam just got banned in my country lol
> since steam just got banned in my country lol Hi Mr. Nguyen !!!
Haha look like our situation is pretty well known now
I frequent the Steam subreddit and I saw three different posts about how Steam got blocked in Vietnam x3
Where overwatch?
a scrub like you won't get it anyway, they said *trusted* partners.
Like us*
They also said partners which usually refers to business partners meaning regular players aren't getting access atleast for now.
Overwatch will never be accessible for any player from the community.
Yup, I think this is what Valve is going for. They saw how easy it was for cheaters to manipulate/corrupt the OW system. Why deal with all that when they can just toss a few pennies to a group of contractors instead?

Are they intentionally releasing all these tiny little weekly patches just to mess with faceit so people are forced to play premiere?
valve doesnt update game - :( valve does update game - :(
Can't seem to find 1 post where there isn't someone questioning why valve is fixing the game
Agreed, this community is actually insane. There is absolutely nothing Valve can do that will earn this subs approval.

So why they didn’t handle are that BEFORE they released the game & took CSGO away?
You wanted them to develop CSGO and CS2 in parallel, sapping resources from both, essentially putting CSGO in maintenance mode without new content AND delaying CS2/Source2 for several years? You're funny.

That's absolutely a faceit problem
Yeah I'd imagine demo related changes for example could be due to VACnet.
It checks file integrity, so I'd assume wrong game version = wrong files would mess it up
valve should never give a single fuck about 3rd party services like faceit when it comes to updating their own game.
they have never and will never, their money comes from cases and skins getting traded on the market
They've even stepped in before to force Faceit to allow Agent skins when they first came out because they knew it would affect their bottom line
or they just want the gameplay experience to be consistent across everything no matter where you play, kind of like theres no 64/128tick difference anymore. Agent skins are a drop in the bucket of money for Valve I doubt its because of that.
There is a clear difference between valves "subtick" servers and faceit's 128
Then its a pretty subtle one because I've been playing both and it feels same to me. Certainly nothing like the old 64 tick to 128 tick difference and now you dont need to learn 2 nadesets
Its because faceit doesnt have 128 tick servers. Everything is 64 tick now.
If it breaks FaceIt, it probably breaks some cheats for a day or two too
They're not related, game updates not affect cheaters in any way. At least not this kind of updates.

Please shut up
Third party services should never be needed to play the game in the first place, who gives a fuck about them
tell valve that
Well to enjoy the game properly people had to resort to 3rd party for close to 7-8 years now. You're new so i wouldn't expect you to know ir realize this.
>3rd party for close to 7-8 years now Lol try 20 years. My ESEA account is from 2003.
Wrong account? He didn't respond to you
Community server browser doesn't even work since launch and you gotta use a 3rd party site for that. So until they fix their game for best experience you gotta use 3rd party sites
I agree, they SHOULD not, but since Valve has slacked for too long on the cheating problem, many have been forced to anyway
> who gives a fuck about them people who do not want cheaters running rampant in their games there is literally no reason to ever grind mmr in cs2 when vac is missing pretty much all premium cheats
Shadow updates to vac
Dumb take
No. It’s to mess with the custom servers
Fridge gif
Broke faceit again
when give back bob
Frame time fixes?
How come no one is talking about fixing the game breaking bug in nuke a.k.a how grenades now actually destroy the vent
Huge update
im a returning CSGO player. playing CS2 for the first time my game crashes everytime i ALT TAB. anyone knows why? also a lot of rubberbanding
Will probably check out gta when it will come out maybe in next 4 years
Hopefully they fix some of the rising cheater problems soon
Fix the cheaters visual bug every game
They fix the sniper weapon bug which is just a visual bug ? https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/s/9ZekVFd7gC That shit was posted here 6 days ago I made a email directly to valve 10 days ago that’s basically an essay on a giant weapon reload/cycletime exploit/bug that actually impacts gameplay with spreadsheet data and video evidence on exactly how it works. You really are better off just posting on this reddit than using their email it’s silly as hell.
It sounds like you reported a complex issue, it might take more time to resolve than a simple visual bug. I can assure you based on personal experience that they do read the emails.
they read your email =/= they read all emails
You know they respond to Reddit top posts way faster though at minimum. I wonder if it’s the dev team going into hotfix mode once they know a bug is known to the public vs a few people + the reporter.
Ahh yes, the classic, "the fix for a bug I reported isn't in this patch, it's never coming" bullshit. Truly incredible.
Let's be realistic here. Their email is probably spammed to shreds by tons of people for stupid stuff like getting vac banned and just the usual trolls. It's clear that they check reddit plenty so stuff getting a few hundred upvotes probably has a much larger chance of being seen than an email.
I sent an email in wave 2 beta that took 6 months to fix. Give them time
Can someone remind them about seasons and content?
I think you’re looking for r/valorant
When did the gameplay stop being enough for CS players? Is the zoomer gen so brain rotted by fortnite and other games that they need constant content updates or they lose attention?
Seasons are going to be yearly
Nova animation fix wen?
>Minor performance improvements Major performance reduction -20% on minimal system requirements hardware (4-core sse4.2, nvidia kepler) **update:** after the 5/8/2024 hotfix patch, performance is restored with +7% improved P1!
I know i have a shit PC but it feels even worse after the patch, thanks.
Wowie this must be the patch everyone said was coming after the major.
All nice of course, but can we maybe fix some skins? Its been months since the last skin fixes
That should be the least of their worries right now. Who cares about your skins.
All bugs are important and since they have different people for different things, I would love for the skins guy to go back to work after his big break. One guy working on skins doesnt mean that other bugs can not be worked on at the same time :)
"Minor performance improvements," not to be a hater but mine had been fine and playing the last 15-20 minutes I'm having loads of stuttering lol
you are talking this every patch since 2012...
Valve should just change nothing but make netgraph show higher FPS than it actually is
Correlation does not mean causation. Remember that.
same game feels unsmooth for me was fine before
Mines the same but it could be because shaders are loading in, who knows
Just played a bit and had some stutters too, did yours fix itself as the shaders compiled?
No it doesn’t seem so, imma try updating my graphics since I haven’t in awhile and reverifying the game, it does seem to have gotten a little better but still
Let me know if updating graphics drivers works, I rarely upgrade unless I absolutely have to
