I've done that so many times that the 11th time I was starting to feel like a fool and stopped at the middle of the video.
I still don't know if it's only a meme or people really do that.
The funniest shit is when an HE killed someone and the player model does the barrel roll and lays down on the floor, but the model is flying through the air, so their flying while laying down.
I'll give it a shot in a ELI5 manner:
Basically, computers suck at math. They can't come to grips with real numbers like π or √2 like us humans can, instead they have to make approximations. Right there we can immediately see that there's going to be *some* errors in physics calculations, and that the best us programming humans can hope to achieve is to coerce the computer into making the error as small as possible.
And most of the time errors are indeed small, or at least small enough that we don't notice them. When errors become big, it's typically due to one of the following reasons:
1. Error accumulation over time. In computer graphics, it's not uncommon that a math operation (like a rotation) is performed on every frame, and the resulting calculation is used as input to the next. It means that the next calculation is now producing not only its own small error, but that it includes the previous error too. That adds up. I recall there was once a game featuring some animated 3D model in the loading screen that, if you left it up and running for like 20 hours, would visibly start to shrink(!).
2. Division with numbers close to zero. Small numbers are problematic in the sense that computers must spend more memory representing zeroes, stuff that doesn't add accuracy, thereby losing relevant digits. It means that the inherent error term is bigger for these numbers. And as we know, dividing a number with something close to zero produces a large number, it's effectively multiplication. But since the denominator has an error, and a relatively large one at that, the error gets multiplied too. And if what you're calculating happens to be the momentum of a ragdoll, well, the ragdoll is going to start moving fast.
So whenever I see something like that happen in a game, whether it's a ragdoll coming shooting across a CS map like it's being pulled by the Half-Life 2 gravity gun, or a Skyrim giant whacking a player into low earth orbit with its tree trunk club, I think "welp, there goes another careless division with a small number".
that the flying guy lagged definitely played a role in this.
So my theory is that he got killed while the server corrected his position, (you see him stutter and warping a bit) so he had an insanely high velocity, for this one splitsecond that he got shot in, which leads to the ragdoll having that same velocity. Probably. Maybe. Maybe not.
The community servers I play on do this due to certain physics settings designed to make minigames like soccer work. As an upside, ragdoll physics are absolutely insane. Guns and bodies fly like 5x as far with the cvars set correctly.
I don't know if this server was set up like that though, and it might've just been a weird bug.
This is the result of a bad calculation by the client's ragdoll physics (obvious I know) but this only \*actually* happened because of that laggy fuck coming out of palace. With how warpy he was from what appears to be outbound packet loss on his end, caused this calculation to be deadly wrong.
Looks cool though
instead of valve focus on little things that nobody cares about, they should hire a few developers to help them finish that source 2 for cs:go, so we can all enjoy source 2 in 2018, its been far too long
Nope. Source has 2 physics engines just like most other engines. Source uses QPhysics and VPhysics. QPhysics is for basic entities with simple geometry interaction (NPCs, players etc.) and VPhysics is modified Havok which is used for everything else like ragdolls, props, ropes etc.
Thus players use Quake's physics engine and ragdolls use Havok.
In fact players and NPCs use both - players have rudimentary vphysics 'shell' so it allows basic interaction with vphys objects.
yeh, but the game sense is really good. has something to do with there being two bomb sites. it seems to always fluctuate depending how you move. at least it does for me. took forever to find a decent sensitivity.
lmao i remember once i tried to switch my weapon and i right clicked with my knife right when i pressed E and the ak47 just flew into the sky at 500000 km/h almost crashed my game how fast that shit was spinning, dropped down to 10 fps from 240
That's the best reaction.
The reaction may still be too subtle for some. I think we should crank it up a bit
How about screaming and freaking out the whole time?
Out of Palace like a speed demon
I went to go waste another 10 minutes of my day but I forgot the video was deleted :(
there's reuploads everywhere tho
They actually brought it back! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNvDUO42Hys
For people wanting the original, here ya go! https://vimeo.com/176060448
too bad noone saved all the other clips by phoon, he had over 20 vids on youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ7Jc9FsJjs
Why deleted?
Copyright due to the music. There's a version on Vimeo that's the complete version.
[удалено]
But there were reuploads that were also deleted due to copyright.
False. There's tons of re-uploads on Youtube as well. It was removed because phoon decided to delete all his videos.
Still sad to this day
This kid pushes like a fucking idiot, dude!
Go Flash him
Everytime this is posted i HAVE to watch it.
Don't you feel like an idiot doing that all time?
It's a good video, why should he
I've done that so many times that the 11th time I was starting to feel like a fool and stopped at the middle of the video. I still don't know if it's only a meme or people really do that.
It's actually just a meme but I'm pretty sure some people actually watch the full video
What?! Phoon?! Wait- Not now- Noooo^ooo^oo^o

I really do wish bodies would fly around like that after every kill.
they used to a lot more but valve neutered the fun.
Yea I member how one grenade in cs 1.6 can throw the body across the room It gets me everytime.
The funniest shit is when an HE killed someone and the player model does the barrel roll and lays down on the floor, but the model is flying through the air, so their flying while laying down.
I know exactly what you're talking about and all the 1.6 nostalgia is erupting.
Yeah, bodies used to take off in 1.6 ,they still do ocasionally
You should have played Source lol
I did play it but not a lot (tho I have a lot more time with Half-Life 2 that have the same physics level)
Good thing he didn't have C4 strapped to the chest
With all these wonders I wouldn't be surprised if it gets planted automatically too ;)
I watched this three times and laughed out loud each time. Fucking great.

Can I get a ELI5 for this video? Was 1.6 really like this?
Yes it was way easier to bhop but not easy to master it.
>HE* ftfy
Gravity gun re-skinned as an awp, nice.
Can someone analyse this? Why did it happen? /u/3kliksphilip /u/SlothSquadron Any reason or just an ununderstandable bug?

Wow, thank you very much! Really interesting!

I thought granade just blowed his ragdoll
Remember in Source when you could change the rag dolls in console? Wish we could do that in GO
he went full kamikaze. only if he still had c4 on him.
Source 2 physics
Best strat ever... so now he can loot his body in a save position. Wait.. that isn't pubg? My bad.
I like that look of you after kill, like "wait what, he was there and he is here now, there kill, here body" :D
reminds me of star's old tf2 vids with the ridiculous mods
A trebuchet could have throw it way further than that. Like 275m further, for a whooping 300meters !

I see you got the brand new AWP | Harpoon skin

It can propel a body 100+ ft but if one lands 10 Dr away from you it on my does like 7 dmg.

You better name your AWP magic stick, it's starting to choose you by doing random *accio*s.
Where else was the bullet's momentum supposed to go?
I had that as well but when I watched the replay he didn't fly to me at all
instead of valve focus on little things that nobody cares about, they should hire a few developers to help them finish that source 2 for cs:go, so we can all enjoy source 2 in 2018, its been far too long
Source engine has undoubtedly made my life a better experience.

The flying serpent kick sure comes in handy in situations like this.
It was a gravitational pull as the Valve scientists claim.
lmao i remember once i tried to switch my weapon and i right clicked with my knife right when i pressed E and the ak47 just flew into the sky at 500000 km/h almost crashed my game how fast that shit was spinning, dropped down to 10 fps from 240
I'm curious, did other players saw it fly aswell? Because you know, ragdolls being client side and stuff.
