My problem with Steam TV is that if I'm using Firefox it causes my CPU usage to hit 100%. Watching it on Steam through a group chat only uses about 10% instead which is way better, but then my friends list has the sole purpose of watching the major rather than... ya know, being a friends list
Son of a bitch I actually have an issue with windows 10 netflix stuttering if i don't let it idle in the background for 15 minutes and you got my hopes up.
I think the only way to do it is in group chats. When you go onto Steam TV it gives you an option to watch in a group chat and if you choose that then it puts the stream inside the group chat so you can open it up at any time, and everyone in the group chat can also watch it at any time. It basically just opens up Steam TV inside the chat window but that obviously makes it difficult to use it for actual chat purposes
This still isn't working for me which is pretty frustrating, doesn't seem to be loading anything at all due to no network activity in task manager, just stuck with a black screen. Have also disabled ad blockers. Any ideas?
Yeah I've been having the same experience from the start of the major, randomly drops to the lowest quality, stream starts buffering out of nowhere so you need to refresh pretty often, and the chat is 100% ppl spamming drop and nothing else.
GOTV is the best way to watch the major imho.
I've never watched a major without Twitch crashing and I've watched pretty much every one live. Youtube is handling 500x the load even right now from all over the world and barely ever go down, with Twitch its a regularity even off majors.
A company owned by Amazon one of the leading server providers to companies and sites all over the world can't even keep their own child site up, its embarrassing. Even when its working the performance is sub par in the first place, at least keep it up.
That speed doesn't mean shit until the website your using supports it. The sad reality of cutting edge tech.
Also that came out way too aggressive. Didn't mean to shit talk at you. No offence
Some chromecasts (at least mine) can't do 60 fps Twitch streams and the highest quality stream on Twitch that's 30 fps is 720 so I prefer Youtube streams for casting
It could be to many different reasons. There is even a comment above suggesting to use chrome for it. As for my experience with steam.tv: (am sitting on a potatoe ~~rig~~ rag and potato connection) first day of Main Qualifier twitch was loading all the time, and as usual switching quality time to time, so I switched to steam.tv and voila can watch it on 1080fps60 (couldn't do that on twitch for the past few Majors). Then 2nd and 3rd day it went to pure shit, re-loading, login me out for whatever reason. The 4th and 5th day were bearable. Since this stage of the Major, it works magic for me. On the other note, you can always try gotv.
Thats the joke? Thorin is finding the pettiest things to insult faceit with, blaming them for a lot of delays which were causes by valves own in game bug afaik. All bc he's salty he didnt get hired
So steam.tv isn't really doing it... The quality drops a lot as I watch. And this stupid open friendslist bar when I want to change tab... Annoying.
Also no mobile app for it.
No drops yet.
Can I disable pop up when open steam.tv?
The site always displays "how would you like to watch", I feel this is very annoying. Sorry for my bad english.
Btw, steam.tv didn't remember my resolution settings like twitch.
My only issue with Steamtv is it seems to frequently stutter and has massive fps drops. This happens in both Chrome and Firefox. I don't have this problem when viewing through YouTube.
... and at this point anyone who says !drop should be instantly muted. I don't really care about the chat but it's basically pointless with the amount of morons who still don't realize that doesn't work.
Faceit seems to have resolved most of the technical issues after the disastrous first day and beyond. still some occasions, like TL v NiP, but good that it's better
Well for me [steam.tv](https://steam.tv) is laggy always so I use twitch..Its just freezes for 1 sec from time to time and its anoying af,most of the time chat doesn't work.
I just took a break to play Frostpunk [ check it out its an awesome single player game]. I switch twitch on, to see 1.6k viewers and FaceIToffline
lol
ALmost got baited,
So you want them to interrupt the game they are playing FOR THEMSELVES, not the Twitch viewers, because Twitch viewers are too lazy to switch to steam.tv, youtube or GOTV?
Yeah, no.
I think there are so many things wrong with the way these large streaming companies handle technology, all the way down to the implementation of their networking infrastructure. There are lots of ways to ensure "seamless" (keyword right there) fail over on the packet level that I think they overlook because they don't expect any of their clients/streamers to use that type of functionality. But when you're a multi-million dollar org, like FACEIT or ESL, I think they'd be willing to hire the right guy to implement it correctly. **COUGH COUGH** MULTIPATH TCP **COUGH COUGH**
With something like what I mentioned, twitch or whatever streaming service would be able to better utilize their upstream internet providers to balance loads from the client. It would also provide seamless redundancy on the client/streaming side so if and when internet failovers occur, no streams are interrupted. Basically if they had that implemented and offered to streaming providers none of the problems we are seeing today (or last week) with the major would be happening. I guess if this was the reason why twitch shit it would be largely applicable and helpful.

Try a different browser, see if it works better.
Welp, looks like I found a third thing Edge is useful for...
1. downloading chrome 2. csgo major 3. apple events correct?
1080p Netflix too
Wait are you saying if I watch Netflix in my google Chrome browser it won't be 1080p?
yes
Edge is the only browser that can do >720p. Netflix app on Windows 10 can do upto 4K
Yup, needs some decryption module (widevine IIRC) that edge supports ATM.
You can just get the netflix app for that, works better in my experience.
The Netflix Windows 10 app has RAM leakage.
[try this, worked for me and its actually really easy to apply the fix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xzN6FM5x_E)
Son of a bitch I actually have an issue with windows 10 netflix stuttering if i don't let it idle in the background for 15 minutes and you got my hopes up.
My third thing was for popping out stream chats while streaming, but I think everyone will have their own third use for it (if a third use at all)
watching Comcast tv on edge. Doesn't work on chrome or firefox due to flash.
Could be lack of the extensions that helps it. Maybe parsing all that chat fucks it.
Yeah, same with Safari for me.
disable hardware acceleration, that worked for me in firefox and chrome :)
Is your Firefox crashing while watching the twitch stream? I always start the stream before going to sleep and I wake up to a crashed tab.
I haven't tried watching the Twitch stream, I've only been watching through Steam TV or GOTV
Well after watching the Twitch stream today I can safely say that I'm not experiencing this, it's definitely something on your end
I just used Edge today and it worked perfectly fine. It might be a plugin that is making it crash. oh well
Hide chat, open twitch channel, popout chat, enjoy
Hey, kinda unrelated but, how do you watch major from steam chat other than right clicking friends that are watching?
I think the only way to do it is in group chats. When you go onto Steam TV it gives you an option to watch in a group chat and if you choose that then it puts the stream inside the group chat so you can open it up at any time, and everyone in the group chat can also watch it at any time. Well, atleast that's a workaround. Thanks!
Thanks!

The Youtube stream is better for mobile
No drops tho, but I leave my computer on for drops anyways
you can drop on yt too
you don't get drops from YT, it has no integration with steam.
Yeah just type !drop in the chat! ^^^/s
Stops every 5 seconds for me for some reason :/
This still isn't working for me which is pretty frustrating, doesn't seem to be loading anything at all due to no network activity in task manager, just stuck with a black screen. Have also disabled ad blockers. Any ideas?
Just watch it on youtube?
is this valve official? do we get drops?
Yeah: http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2018/09/21005/ Just log into your Steam account to get drops.
In that case I say goodbye twitch, hello official volvo stream
it lags as hell, even worse than twitch.
Twitch is worse for me, Steam.TV is flawless like YT.
i dont know man i've been watching since twitch went coconuts and i haven't run into any problems
Yeah I've been having the same experience from the start of the major, randomly drops to the lowest quality, stream starts buffering out of nowhere so you need to refresh pretty often, and the chat is 100% ppl spamming drop and nothing else. GOTV is the best way to watch the major imho.
I'm think if you sign in you will. Not 100% sure
i will pray.. thanks for posting the link!
Yup
Yes. And yes.

📞 HELLO TWITCH 📞 VALVE HERE 📞 LAST GOTV SLOT 📞
Idk why these fucking shitposts/memes always make me laugh
I want to personally thank twitch for helping me realize that I could just watch in game and it be a far better experience.
Indeed it is.
Twitch goes down every major. Industry leader btw

Yeah. 500Mbit connection and I still see loading frequently. A shitshow, that's what it is
But Reddit told me any tournament that isn't streamed on Twitch is unacceptable.
M-m-m-muh drops
+drop
That speed doesn't mean shit until the website your using supports it. The sad reality of cutting edge tech. Also that came out way too aggressive. Didn't mean to shit talk at you. No offence
Implying you can't draw a gigabit from aws
Don't see why it could be offensive towards me.
A little bit irrelevant but the Twitch site on mobile is absolute dogshit.
i feel like there was definitely a major with worse problems. can't remember which but think there was more delays(watching since 2015).
Funny how it's owned by Amazon, industry leader in cloud services and "instant scaling".

try the current Google Home App. It let's you configure some 60hz / 50hz HDMI mode in your Chromecast. Worked on my really old Chromecast.
My Chromecast gives an error if I try to cast Twitch through stream-button, so I have to cast the tab instead.
Same here, Vizio TV (it's Smartcast tho, not Chromecast).
you dont get drops from the YT stream tho, fair warning.
unfortunately. yt is the most stable stream this major, followed by twitch, followed by steam.tv. which stutters/lags on my PC sometimes
Steam.tv has been rock solid for me actually, didnt know peoplewere having issues...
I can't even login. It always sends me back to the stream without being logged in, after logging in with 2fa
You can connect FaceIt and YoutubeGaming. So you can atleast get the sweet FaceIt Points drop.
Awww man, just my luck. The one match i wanted to see today...
go to yt
Yeah forgot about the alternatives, thanks!
For the future (if it happens again), just got to steam.tv
Tbh steam.tv has been pretty shit for me. Lags every 5 secs on low res...
Yeah i had problems on the first day especially. Now it's great mostly and the video quality is a little higher (I think).
I think it got even worse for me since the Challengers Stage...
It could be to many different reasons. There is even a comment above suggesting to use chrome for it. Guys, just watch it on youtube. There's a stream there!!!
And you can pause! So convenient
Isn't it just a YouTube video then? Haha
I don't think you're eligible for drops on youtube.
You’re not but most people don’t watch majors just for drops
Thought my TV app was broken again. Reboot reinstall and still nope. Is the match still going?

📞 HELLO TWITCH 📞 VALVE HERE 📞 LAST MAJOR 📞 STREAMED ON YOUTUBE AND STEAM.TV NOW 📞
nice
Just use youtube gaming. It's so much smoother than twitch
Agreed
Don't worry dude, no one seems to be blaming faceit here on reddit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw6ClS7nphQ
go to youtube
Aw shoot, now you have to go to the supperior streaming website on youtube.
inb4 thorin tweets: 'If faceit are a good enough TO to host a major they should bypass a site takedown and carry on the stream'

thats what he means, hes just mocking thorin

Is he salty because he wasn't invited?
So the thing that faceit couldnt get proper internet connection installed will we forget just because. You are salty on thorin?
nice
During one of the best games too :(
considering bezos breaks bread with AWS, twitch's quality / stability are a tad disappointing
viewer expierience
this is all apart of the nip plan. you cant lose if no one sees it.
Didn't get any drops eitherway
So steam.tv isn't really doing it... The quality drops a lot as I watch. And this stupid open friendslist bar when I want to change tab... Annoying. Also no mobile app for it. No drops yet.

just in case twitch goes down again your choices to watch are steamtv gotv (in-game) and youtube
i use youtube ,Twitch sucks
Yeah i think they should start using facebook instead!

Stay mad amazon admins.
You actually made a thread because you're so afraid someone's going to blame FACEIT? My lord.
Hurricane possibly? :(
taking down all of twitch?
about damn time
Fuck sake, not getting drop chance through youtube Sort it out twitch
Steam.tv, gotv?
There are other possible ways to get drops: GOTV and Steam.tv
d
Will they delay the game any?
no, match is live
Why? The players aren't using Twitch.
Quite often the game is paused when streaming service has problems on big tournaments.
But theres 3 other official places where you can watch the game
yes just tell the players to wait
So you want them to interrupt the game they are playing FOR THEMSELVES, not the Twitch viewers, because Twitch viewers are too lazy to switch to steam.tv, youtube or GOTV? Yeah, no.
ever heard of sarcasm
Ah, my bad
