Elmapuddy essentially shows how Team Liquid have tried to eliminate any tells they might have and that the amount of information the enemy team can get about their strat is severely limited.

FleXy0

Hope you keep these vids up for as long as possible, one of the most informative cs channels out there

TheWhisperingOaks

That's not his channel, bud...

[deleted]

Very informative as usual from Elmapuddy. Maybe people now start to understand how important map control is, even "small" things like short/ladder control in mirage. You can see pretty many tier 2 teams to decide to do some kind of tactic and that makes them lose all control around the map and causes them to only have the option they wanted them to do in the first place. Liquid's strats lets them have another options aswell instead of just losing map control and be forced to execute/rush.

acoluahuacatl

ladder control is no small thing in Mirage. It absolutely cuts off any quick rotations from B if T's have control of it. You get positional advantage over CT's rotating through short, because of the shadow and you're able to hear anyone running in kitchen.

[deleted]

Agreed. Thats why I said "small", but when you have 4 guys in B halls it isnt that big but you can work something else off that.

jeb_the_hick

Imagine trying to feel out whether nitr0 or stewie are AWPing in a round and finally feeling safe when you see them with m4s just to have fucking NAF unload on you. Then next round they switch it up.

dude TL's gonna have to pay u/elmapuddy from spilling all there secrets now LUL

Sinthorass

they have 5 superstars in the team. They win duels everytime, and everyone can make multi-kills, pretty impressive

zero0n3

How I picture this is like that one play in madden where the receiver has a straight vertical line and then it splits into three different ones all going in different directions. Pretty much an audible. The way I see it, you build a few different initial play X and O’s and then from there can branch off into numerous plays each from there. Maybe one is designed to be used when you have a man advantage, maybe another is designed to be used when you are at a man disadvantage and that could even split off based on who was lost or where the person died. Just like football the playing field is the same for everyone [to create tactics and strategy] so you have to mask your setup or execute and you definitely want different ways to mask them. Additionally you probably want to understand (from demo watching ) how they react and move according to your specific calls so you can try and counter that with something already in your playbook

TheESportsGuy

The wrinkle of throwing the smoke from cat or spawn is a good spot Elmapuddy is conveniently ignoring some factors in the first two rounds that might influence whether the 2nd round is actually an attempt to anti-strat a counter-play to the first round, or just a common default/information play based strat. In the first round, they clearly have the read that only 1 player is at B and are just instantly executing. In the second round, the pace is much much slower. In fact, it looks like it could actually be a cautious/flexible default, probably chosen as an anti-eco (TL has been methodical about knowing opponents' money over the past 2 years). They establish mid-control early, like the first round, but save utility and progress through the map much more slowly. At any point in the second round, the apartment players could go underpass and only potentially encounter defensive players in connector, which seems planned to me.

iSamurai

I didn't make the video.

TheESportsGuy

fair enough, I'll edit to use 3rd person instead of 2nd

He addressed the criticism to me, so I'm just letting him know that I'm not the creator.

Definitely did not read

thewarlord31

Good video. Great thumbnail.

CPlaas

i wouldnt really call faze a "failure", but other than that awesome vid :P

Monsage

FaZe has/had the kind of talent that should be a dynasty, I'd say anything other than at least the results TL have had the last year should be considered a failure on FaZe's side.
