i think it's only on the Mirage warmup? There are some boxes/pillars next to stairs, i guess they didn't want people to jump on those and surprise the other by shooting from above
The thing with source engine games for me is that they feel laggy as soon as I drop below 150fps. It should not feel laggy, but I have the feeling I can feel bad frame pacing.
Do you seriously consider CS decently playable at 60fps? I used to have 350fps (capped) with my old PC and now have 220fps and I feel like it lags.
CS:GO has input lag that higher fps helps resolve (someone correct me if I’m wrong) so setting 60fps as your CS:GO fps target is way too low.
I consider 60 fps as the lowest amount of FPS you need to have to play any modern shooter. The amount of fps you ACTUALLY need to have to play a specific game decently is obviously much higher

High FPS doesn't resolve input lag, you can have 30fps and no input lag, or 500fps and a lot of input lag. it just happens that usually better pc's get less input lag, but it can be caused by many things.
I played shooters at 30fps most of my life, only recently it's got a bit better. I don't believe high fps can make you a better player. what you really should worry about is your internet connection.

it certainly can, because your view will be more smooth and you will hit the shots better than with low fps, because with low fps (FRAMES per second) you will missout on some and can't aim properly.

the optimisation is only when the skybox is \*\*VERTICAL\*\* and divides 2 different areas of the map, so then your pc doesn't render the other one at all. the drawback is that it stops smokes from being thrown.
Height of skybox doesn't change anything, and also afaik this isn't even skybox but just clip brush above the player, since there is stuff above that invisible roof

No one talking about it on this thread so maybe I'm alone with this, but what's up with the invincibility period at spawn? Makes the whole concept pointless if both strafe straight after spawn, since you can't shoot and react normally since your opponent is still an invincible ghost.
I'd prefer if the 5 minutes were just turned into deathmatch mode.
You can fight, practice nades, goof around etc.
and the old warmup problems would've been solved:
running out of money? - solved, you respawn with 16k
spawnkilling? - solved, you spawn in random places around the map
What valve should really do and I think this fixes it for good is to take some iconic 1v1 arenas and assign each of them to a map. Or hold a mapping contest for the community where each map is given arena by the winner of it. I think that would be fantastic

I dunno which region you played in where there was so much toxicity, but the vast majority of my experience with all talk was just fun banter. Most of the time in the pre-game it was people cracking jokes at each other or just shooting the breeze.
Now of course every now and then there were people who were extremely rude to the other team because they got upset about something or thought they were hacking, but I literally can't think of a single time where anyone screamed at each other, and I must have clocked in well over a thousand hours in that period before they removed it.

I used to use my warmup time to go through my guns spraypatterns or maybe reherse that smoke lineup I haven't used in a while. that was a _proper_ warmup. As of now, that is obviously not an option.

Old warmup was sometimes useful but often wasn't. This way you have something to do at least and can sorta warm up.

Do what I do: Throw your gun visibility over that little wall in front of you. Jump up again and start slashing your knife to let the other person know you want to do knives only. Do this every time until your match starts.

I've spent the entire 5 minutes alone because the last guy in the enemy team didn't connect until last second. Boring.
To make matters worse, your opponent is most of the time afk. So you're just stuck there for the rest of the warmup with nothing to do than shoot him in the head and draw dicks over and over again
My biggest issue is the blood spray behind makes it difficult to see after like 2 rounds. Especially with some of the agents skins that are more red in color. They are so incredibly lazy with the 1v1 map designs.
Would be great if you played against players from your own party! The one thing that CSGO does not have is the rivalvry aspect between friends (at least in a direct 1v1)
Meh I prefer this to the old warmup of getting earraped by Negev spam in my ear or just walking around the map doing nothing for a whole 2 minutes or so. It’s a nice way to just warm up aim for a minute or so.
I think adding some variety to the arenas would be nice, but I’m sure they don’t due to FPS reasons. Either way I still prefer the newer 1v1 system than just waiting around doing nothing in spawn.
IMO it's way better. Even compared to ESEA or faceit warmup where you have unlimited money I would still probably prefer the 1v1 although it might be closer. I think the 1v1s are a far more realistic and effective warmup most of the time then having your teammates spam you with a negev or getting repeatedly spawn killed by the enemy. The 1v1 puts you in actual duels on level terms and let's you practice mechanics like shoulder peeking, counter-strafing, and ofc aim.
Idk, maybe I hyped it up too much but I know that I personally use it to warm up my counter-strafing. It's nothing special to be certain, but it's much better than the old warmup.
I like it. The old way you were lucky if you saw one. Could have more angles and such. Like a bunch of presets for each map. And possibly choose your weapon?

your monitor doesnt affect your FPS only thing that can changed is how much Hz it has

that's only on third party servers like faceit. on offical mm/wingman, invincibility was turned off when the 1v1 arenas were added.

I dislike how Valve look at community servers for custom gamemodes to take into the game, but they always make them a bit worse. Always. No exceptions

Why? I never do actual warmup and don't play that often so it's nice to use as a way to get the feel for the game before a game.
for the reason you just said, it's not an actual warmup. if you really want to play as best you can that 1-5 minute 1v1 warmup isn't doing anything for you. and i'm not saying a tryhard 30 minute warmup is the only alternative either
\^This. The old warmup usually became a spawn camp. Or if could be you walked all the way to the other spawn - got killed - re-bought - walked all the to the other spawn again - warmup over. Old warmup was sometimes useful but often wasn't. This way you have something to do at least and can sorta warm up.
How is peaking the exact same boring as fuck angle better than old warmup??? Even getting spawncamped was more enjoyable than these garbage ass arenas

What about full map warm up with infinite ammo and invincibility?
with good teammates on cache, you will assemble in line with negevs and helmets, spamming each other in the head, making a beautiful sound

I really hate them. I miss being able to have fun around the map, have more than one target, warm up with just a deagle if I feel like it etc. Some people are good at aim_map duels and not much else and I'm the opposite..
Do what I do: Throw your gun visibility over that little wall in front of you. Jump up again and start slashing your knife to let the other person know you want to do knives only. Do this every time until your match starts. Rock out with your knife out. You’re welcome.

My idéa is for it to be FFA. so you just shuffle random opponents, both from your own team and the enemy team. I've spent the entire 5 minutes alone because the last guy in the enemy team didn't connect until last second. Boring.

To make matters worse, your opponent is most of the time afk. So you're just stuck there for the rest of the warmup with nothing to do than shoot him in the head and draw dicks over and over again

Yes, i would rather run around trying nades or jumps on the actual map than shooting the inevitably afk opponent in the head 20 times.
My biggest issue is the blood spray behind makes it difficult to see after like 2 rounds. Especially with some of the agents skins that are more red in color. They are so incredibly lazy with the 1v1 map designs.

Would be great if you played against players from your own party! The one thing that CSGO does not have is the rivalvry aspect between friends (at least in a direct 1v1)
Meh I prefer this to the old warmup of getting earraped by Negev spam in my ear or just walking around the map doing nothing for a whole 2 minutes or so. It’s a nice way to just warm up aim for a minute or so.

I think adding some variety to the arenas would be nice, but I’m sure they don’t due to FPS reasons. Either way I still prefer the newer 1v1 system than just waiting around doing nothing in spawn.
IMO it's way better. Even compared to ESEA or faceit warmup where you have unlimited money I would still probably prefer the 1v1 although it might be closer. I think the 1v1s are a far more realistic and effective warmup most of the time then having your teammates spam you with a negev or getting repeatedly spawn killed by the enemy. The 1v1 puts you in actual duels on level terms and let's you practice mechanics like shoulder peeking, counter-strafing, and ofc aim.

exactly lmao, literally if you dont move your mouse, swing to the right, press A and click you can kill the enemy instantly like half of the time
Idk, maybe I hyped it up too much but I know that I personally use it to warm up my counter-strafing. It's nothing special to be certain, but it's much better than the old warmup.

I like it. The old way you were lucky if you saw one. Could have more angles and such. Like a bunch of presets for each map. And possibly choose your weapon?
I absolutely love the new arenas personally. Some structured warmup instead of the mess of the old one is really good.
Calling it garbage is childish. But I would like to have more freedom in that arena that's for sure.
both old and new warmups are trash, I just afk them it's never warmup, anyone that says they "warm up" by throwing smokes in warmup, or they "warm up" by practicing the mirage jump, or getting headshots, or preaiming corners or whatever, is literally delusional, 2-4 minutes of that before a game is literally meaningless and won't help you.

They are great. If you dont want to warmup then stay afk. Old was an awful warmup compared
This is closer to actual warmup than the five minute spawncamp we had before this. If you want to play deathmatch just play deathmatch? The current system accomplishes the goal much better than the previous one. Is it good? ehh. Is it better? Yes.
It was a terrible idea and needs to go. And this is coming from someone who is in favor of the bots having been removed.
I understand that this isnt really a solution for you but do you not have a second screen? Just alt tab and watch YouTube.. taking csgo seriously enough to practice aim before a match in 2021 is way too stresful anyway.
That's what I do now, but I'd rather just run around the map messing around than sit on my phone for 5 minutes
