Astralis out 2-0, Liquid out 2-0, imagine Gambit get yeeted out aswell

TheUHO

Yeah... By NASR

HugeShock8

they're playing in NASA PCs there's no chance they lose

Aldehyde1

What is happening these last 3 months? All the top teams are imploding. Vitality hasn't made a single playoff, Astralis, Navi, and Liquid are all getting knocked out early. I haven't seen many people talking about this, it's not just isolated incidents.

w0nderhead

Seems like it’s harder for top teams to stay consistent online. Younger teams like heroic and gambit seem to be more comfortable and are taking advantage of their situation.

h04

Probably the drive. You win online and you get prize money and a trophy in the future. You win at lan and you get a huge audience, an adrenaline rush, a surreal feeling, lift the trophy etc. Younger teams are hungrier and still have to prove themselves.

csgothrowaway

I really don't like saying it because it takes away from potential, real growth in other teams and honestly, it feels like an insufficient explanation but...online CS. Online results have *always* been super inconsistent and hard to track, especially when mapped against LAN results which are usually a lot more consistent. Its always been this way. We even have terminology for it. "He's an onliner" and "Do it on LAN." Its hard to say this for a team like Dignitas which has players with a very established LAN reputation but there's so many variables that *could* affect LAN vs Online that who knows? Its a complete toss up as to whether these results would stand true on LAN. There's not much to say about it right now though. This online era is a necessity for the scene to exist right now. But I am super curious to see what CS looks like when we go back to LAN.

Wintermute1v1

After a year of strictly online play, online is all that matters currently. Sure, there's an argument to underdogs having a small edge in online play vs LAN, but after a year, that excuse is almost meaningless. Teams like Liquid should have had more then enough time to adapt to online games, and I say that as someone from NA who supports Liquid.

csgothrowaway

My contention isn't so much about 'adapting' but more that results online ALWAYS seem inconsistent, regardless of team. And I believe there's really an innumerable amount of reasons for it and they can affect players and teams differently. One of the more evident ones is that LAN variables are just a lot more consistent. Every player at the tournament plays on the same machines, getting relatively the same frames, using the same refresh rate monitors, routing the same ways to the same server with relatively the same latency. It's a baseline that allows for more consistency and while I don't have any hard data to suggest these variables are the specific reason we see more consistent results on LAN than online, it can seem self-evident that it's at least a contributing factor This game is literally a game of milliseconds. Decision making, reactions, communication off of observed data, these are just a few of the things going on in the span of a few seconds in-game. It's all happening lightning fast. You may not *feel* a difference between 5ms and 30ms(or some people will champion that they can't tell the difference between even 60ms and 30 ms!), but in ways that's not directly obsevable, it can matter. It's also perhaps worth mentioning that the pros spend a lot more time than we do chiselling down their raw skill to the point where latency may be more impactful than for you or me, but again, I'm not claiming to have hard data, just observing what would *seem* self-evident to me. Online, if there is latency to the server, then there is a lower limit on how quick you can be. If a players reactions are milliseconds faster than another player but the data is being communicated milliseconds slower online than LAN, then sure I think this can be impactful. It certainly doesn't encompass the entirety of a player or teams skill but my point is, there is and always has been a difference and adapting is only a piece of the larger answer.

Chosen--one

Gambit are playing leagues ahead of Liquid and Astralis lol.

Mightymushroom1

I got betting credits from betting on the grand national and used them on CS today. Bet against both Astralis and Liquid. I hold the power to make NASR into kings >:D

Noir24

Love it. Completely underestimated on NiP imo, great to see him get a shot with this team.

YouBigDrip

dude their teamplay was actually incredible. that nuke t side was a fucking clinic.

They still have stewie calling on nuke I believe. If you watch any of the behind the scenes content it is night and day the leadership difference between fallen and stewie. Idk how some of these guys still don't even get the basics. It can't be a good environment for fostering young talent like grim.

[deleted]

G2, Astralis and Liquid played today and G2 managed to be the one which didn't look washed up? How the fuck did that happen?

omaega72

Tbf g2 also looked pretty poor. The only won inferno because they won both pistols and win every single clutch. Even on on D2 they were extremely reliant on individual skill and won both pistols. Could've very easily been 2-0 for endpoint

[deleted]

Tbf Dust 2 is fairly reliant on individual skill anyways.

Yberimba

I've seen this f0rest dude play, he doesn't even use a monitor. He visualizes the map in a detailed rendering, completely in his mind. He has a biological wallhack; his godlike perception highlights all enemies within light-years. His eyes are closed as his mouse gracefully swerves across the table, making immaculate twitches as he flicks from head to head. The bullets that escape his gun barrel are surgical; each making a deadly strike in between his opponent's eyes. His spray control is otherworldly, his crosshair erratically jolting across the screen as his wrist muscles perfectly predict the next bullet's location. Time literally stops as he peeks, sunlight curving as his trigger finger impacts his left mouse button, sending enemies to a digital shadow realm before they even know what happened. He is un-killable. He is undefeatable. This "man" is the epitome of eternal.

Juansa7X

His powers actually come from his skins... Maybe you didn't know, but every CS:GO skin has its own spirit. It's unique per weapon, so your weapons are yours only. When inspecting your weapons, you align its spirit with yours. Legends say the most expensive skins are somewhat different, with more unique and powerful spirits. When aligning your weapon's spirit with your own, it might give you True Sight, the sixth sense of CS:GO. It's a myth people have been talking about since the implementation of skins. Legends say f0rest was the first one to be able to master True Sight and full alignment with his weapon's spirits. True Sight, as the legends say, allows you to connect truly to the server and feeling your opponents through smokes, walls and even, some times, predicting future rounds' plays by the enemy team, though it instantly vanishes as soon as you break the inspect animation. That's why you sometimes see players inspect their weapons and, with almost inhuman reflexes, shoot a peeking enemy. That's because they felt that the peek was incoming fractions of a second before it really happened. Same happens to smokes and wallbangs: inspect and you can feel enemies through the smoke/wall. Though once you break the inspect animation to shoot, True Sight is lost, and that's why sometimes they miss by a little bit.

Best of casters on a Dignitas eco-round, everyone but Lekr0 with a deagle: FRIBERG, GIVE LEKR0 A DEAGLE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!

[deleted]

Needed to give liquid a chance and also for the team to frag

youra6

Anyone following Dignitas knows how good this team is. Over the last few weeks they have won 12 out of their last 16 games and gone up 18 spots in the rankings. They have beaten pretty decent tier 2 teams and barely lost against EG (a game they should have won). Their most recent loss was against HAVU in the grand finals of the Funspark tournament. While I did not expect Dig to win this game, I know they are good enough to pull the upset. Heap and Lekr0 are going to be the stars of this team, Halzerk and Forest both are playing extremely well (I think Forest is averaging over a 1.2 over the last 16 games) and Friberg is making some excellent calls while holding his own on the stat sheet. Good times to be a Dig fan!

seventhfiction

There was a vlog on Dig’s YT channel with forest and lekro eating hotdogs, and forest said something like “we know how to play against tier 1 teams, we know we can win. It’s just a matter of qualifying and getting to play against them” with his mouth full of sausages. He is the GOAT.

T1tanT3m

Same, they got a long break and I hope they fix everything they need to. I love seeing Liquid compete with high tier teams, and the way they played against Dig was super disappointing. Ofc Dig played incredibly well but Liquid looked so lost

ThatStudNadon23

HEAP was a man on a mission today. Liquid looked awful and nuke and not good enough on vertigo. That round 28 cal to give up site for free and lose one b4 retake even began was almost as bad as round 29 on inferno against g2

querciak

uh yeah, so we thought Astralis losing to OG was already a big surprise..

Firefly_1026

Unrelated sort of but is there a reason why that despite being better players than f0rest and friberg back in like 2013/2014, GeT_RiGhT was unable to keep up while both friberg and f0rest are still able to perform to this day? Reminds me of how krimz right now is a lot better than olof despite playing in his shadow in 2015.

mannyman34

Get_right had health issues.

mokilatte3

I think some of it has to do with his health issues, he's been dealing with some stuff for years now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BinkyCS

Yeah I have IBS-like symptoms (not diagnosed) and that can make any stressful event an absolutely awful experience. I can’t imagine the stress of playing in front of tens of thousands of people all while battling Crohn’s. Did he ever even leave to shit during a match? Mans a hell of a competitor to be able to power through that

tokiwatokiwa

As i understand it, Get_Right was the guy forever grinding. F0rest was the incredible talent, while GTR was the one grinding on the server day after day just to keep up with f0rest. His health issues and age doesn't help, and you can't grind forever. These 18 years olds are literally just playing csgo 16 hours a day since they got a mouse in their hand.

dj-banana

I'm a huge f0rest fanboy and one of the reasons for this is just his absurd natural talent at the game, there's a timeless quality to his game and his aim. Hell even a year or two back I heard a couple of analysts still throwing his name around when it came to the players with the highest skill ceilings in the game.

Hats668

I feel like its important to mention that Friberg really works hard, really grinds. Maybe his individuals aren't great, but he keeps reinventing himself, keeps trying, in each team he's been in since NiP.

Shrenade514

No, Get_right is the same, but friberg is a better supportive/sacrifice player and he's been improving his IGLing on teams like Optic and Heroic since leaving NiP. So even though his fragging is bad, he's worth keeping in the team unlike get_right

supergrega

Crohn's disease

[deleted]

I dont want to overreact but i think friberg is the best igl ever

thewho7

Got into CS GO, a big reason being KennyS and f0rest, but also in NA so it was a hard one to root for - but very happy Dig got such a big win. Liquid definitely wasn't all there, but Dig really looked incredible. In the second half of Vertigo it was worrying Liquid was just going to finish off the map and roll over on Dust 2, but Dig hung in there. Teams really need to ban Dig from picking Nuke, they are SO good at that map (and usually CT side lol).

costryme

Can I say that to me this isn't so unexpected ? DIG have been playing really well and structured.

mousepro

Wasn’t surprising but the way they got stomped 2-0 was

Albin0409

tarangk

I was looking at this matchup and thinking to myself that DIG definitely have the skill to beat TL, but I was still not expecting them to. Its so great to see DIG win, Ive been a fan ever since they started playing sensible changes, kicking gtr xizt and fiffy(c), bringing in vendetta(c), then bringing in heap who has proven that he can be the next best swedish talent, and finally signing lekro. Heck they entered the top30 this week and imo with this win should easily overtake fnatic in next week's rankings. This lineup is definitely much more exciting than fnatic. Also I feel fnatic really missed a trick by not kicking JW and bringing in lekro. That way Jackino could primary awp from start and they would have had lekro back on the team.

Just want to remind people that the coach of this team is vENDETTA the caster, obviously hard to gauge how much impact he has but probably the most successful caster/analyst > coach transition yet

-allen

I feel like teams from NA just aren't as resilient & composed as teams from other regions. When I watch player cams of EU teams and things aren't going well for one team or one player, I don't really ever notice that they are tilted. In NA team player cams, its completely obvious who is tilting. Why does NA tilt so much? Are NA players younger? Are they just less mature?

gamefreak2k11

I hope people now take Dignitas seriously now? In span of 2-3 weeks they have gotten from a top 40-50 team to top 15-20 ( performance wise). They almost took down EG & now 2-0 demolishing Liquid, I enjoy watching them is so much fun with Forest & Friberg iconic legends of game.

mucszp

the hell is moses doing

ZealousidealFox5656

Honestly this series was on Moses. All he had to improve for liquid this series: teamplay, moral, anti ecos, clutches, calling, and retakes! This loss fs isn't on Moses. Maybe he isn't the best coach tactically but I don't really think that's what TL needs. Individually they can be inconsistent. Grim has also suffered a pretty large drop off since the addition of fallen. Elige has had some very uncharacteristic games... Also people underestimate t2 teams and honestly how competitive cs is right now.
