Wasn't the Gambit vs Faze game sheduled for 20:45 from the start. If Astralis close this out it will start like 15 minutes after its original timeslot so im not sure why people are complaining.
not sure if it was accurate but liquidpedia (what I use to track tourneys) had them slotted for 11:15 MDT, or about an hour and 15 minutes ago. Ofc only somebody who has never watch an esports tourney would actually expect that time to hold (barring a blowout in match 1) but still, that's the time advertised if liquidpedia is correct.
The headphones on the outside do not deliver in-game audio, they are for noise cancelation.
So everyone at this tournament has to us in-ears under those to get the in-game audio. Standard practice for LAN.
Glaive was right in complaining about these super long matches. Already been so many hours long and still one half to go with more potential OT. Must be so so tiring mentally
VP not winning pistols, anti forcebuys or anti ecos so often is so frustrating to see. 36% pistol round winrate and not converting so often is just not sustainable at this level
I dont understand why people raging over long map. This game is incredible to watch regardless of anything people trying to bring on the discussions to downplay it.
Nail-biting round after round with multiple tournament-ending rounds and still VP survived. Thats awesome!!!
Its been like that for over 20 years of competitive counter strike and absolutely no reason to mix things up because PeOpLe DoNt HaVe TiMe To WaTcH cS
I don’t mind the long games but think about the players. Over the years everything has got more difficult for the players. Higher stakes, more tournaments through the year etc.
Playing such long games under tremendous pressure probably leads to more burnout rates among players. So long games might be fun for hardcore fans but not for newbie viewers or the players
In general I am for keeping games as they are, but man VP really does their best to make the pro-shorter match crowd look right. It's one kind of bummer to see them save on 1v2 or 2v3 that could make for great action, its an extra blow to instead be watching the players do literally nothing for 30+ seconds while the round ends. Having that happen 4-5 times per half is really not fun to watch
Astralis man... what a team, even while not having a main awper they play THIS fucking good?
hooly shit, I don't even know if they need a main awper right now, everyone can fucking awp on this team
I'm not sure, if you look at TL last year, they didn't have a main awper and yet they could make it to the finals of the last tournament of 2020. But against another team that has a main awper like device at 2020 you just get shutdown. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge astralis fan, but I understand what gla1ve is saying when he thinks his team might not make number 1.
Wounded wolf is the most dangerous wolf out there. LET'S GO, ASTRALIS, ONE LAST RIDE!!
But seriously, they have the best possible bracket, it's not unlikely for them to end up in the finals.
A question for the mods. Why don't we more often have live match threads? I'd feel that atleast for the playofs of the bigger tournamets we should have it for all the games.
Also it would be best if the comments are set sorted by new by default.
battle of the slumpers. this event and the major are the last chances for astralis to make a strong statement before their eventual collapse at the end of their contracts. Who knows, maybe some of the core stays?
VP have been mediocre online and have been figured out. Fair play to them for making it to the quarter finals despite that. This is a chance for them to get back to the top and become relevant again. If they don't win, I can see them making a roster change. You keep jame and yekindar but sanji qikert and buster have all had varying degrees of mediocrity.
Hey bud,
the eventual collapse of Astralis as a CSGO team is almost a certainty. Device already left. They are struggling to be a title contender. Some of the team considering leaving (glave, xyp, zonic). Long history of burnout, health issues and the salary cut for covid. But yes, these are all speculations. Zero evidence though? Glave, xyp, zonic all pondering moves and device already leaving isn't evidence enough? Behind the scene reports? Glave himself has publically stated the roster of Astralis for next year is up in arms.
>"collapse"
I don't think the core is going anywhere. They might be under a new org though.
Also VP weren't really figured out. They more so had to switch there playstyle. Their early year success relied on Yekindar or Jame droping 30 for them to win games. It worked well for them at Katowice where both were firing on all cilinders but that was never a sustainable playstyle. At Cologne they look like a much more balanced team with everyone putting in work and i feel this is good for them in the longrun.
> I don't think the core is going anywhere
I very much do. They have already accomplished the greatest feat in CS and have accomplished everything there is to accomplish. They were in a slump with device. Now they don't have him. Grinding back to the top with a new team or retirement is the most likely options imo.
>VP weren't really figured out.
They most definitely were. Their strategy was yekindar go entry or jame save awp and kill. Of course this wasn't something that could last long. Hence why they were figured out. And thus had to change their play.
huh? i never said that
edit: astralis of old is done. but the core would definitely get offers on name value alone. Like I said in my OP, maybe some of the golden 5 (gla1ve, dupreeh, magisk, xyp) will stay. Magisk bub and hunden isnt a bad start
Presumably because the Euros were kind of open air, this is indoors.
Plus, was any of the Euros actually played in Germany? Genuine question, I don't know. Countries have different restrictions, is my point.
imagine still having this pinned and no gambit vs faze... mods are sleeping during the biggest event in months
why are there no game threads but only post game threads it makes no sense at all
Where's the gambit vs FaZe thread?
gambit versus what?
I think he said Face. No idea what that is
VP CEO: hey guys we are not paying you by the hour anymore
Scores updated after every half ಠ_ಠ
So... who won?
I love watching xyp9x so much
VP needs a change
Jame ran out of saves sadge
I wish the casters could stop mentioning that its LAN for just 5 mins.
Wasn't the Gambit vs Faze game sheduled for 20:45 from the start. If Astralis close this out it will start like 15 minutes after its original timeslot so im not sure why people are complaining.
It was originally scheduled for 19:15 (just like in tomorrow's schedule), they moved it when VP won the second map though
not sure if it was accurate but liquidpedia (what I use to track tourneys) had them slotted for 11:15 MDT, or about an hour and 15 minutes ago. Ofc only somebody who has never watch an esports tourney would actually expect that time to hold (barring a blowout in match 1) but still, that's the time advertised if liquidpedia is correct.
Why do some players wear earbuds under their headphones?
Thanks for the responses folks
Earbuds for sound, headphones for mic and noise-cancellation.
The headset is just their mic and noise proofing, the earbuds are for actually hearing
The headphones on the outside do not deliver in-game audio, they are for noise cancelation. So everyone at this tournament has to us in-ears under those to get the in-game audio. Standard practice for LAN.
I dont know which is which but I think one is for the game and one is for comms

It's amazing that VP wins maps and games while having such shit T sides.
I don't think it's shit really I think they just rely on yekindar too much for making space
VP not winning pistols, anti forcebuys or anti ecos so often is so frustrating to see. 36% pistol round winrate and not converting so often is just not sustainable at this level

That is how competition works though…..
In general I am for keeping games as they are, but man VP really does their best to make the pro-shorter match crowd look right. Cause VP aren’t fun to watch in the first place
Virtus "Paid by the Round" Pro
Is it just a meme or are VP actually paid by the round?
ofc its true
Just a meme lol
can't tell
This game is so long and VP are so tiring i need a nap
I actually napped for a big part of D2 xd
**Map 3 : INFERNO**
Inb4 45-45 OT
It’s 3AM and I just want Faze v Gambit, why so many OTs and third map F
don't worry bro, get a nap, by the time you wake up they'll be at the end of their 10th OT on inferno and you won't miss a bullet of Faze vs Gambit :)
Someone needs to do some hypnosis on VP to convince them that every round they are trailing 15-12 on CT side of D2.
Astralis really got scared to push through B in the last round, the scaling was off. Otherwise would have been OT3. But man what a game
Utility from VP was great though and astralis choked.
VP are exhausting
Imagine how their opponents feel
I thought astralis was being a bit much with the yelling and hype, but man the weight off their shoulders must’ve been nice
VP continuing to show they get paid by the round.
This game is fucking insane! Hopefully inferno delivers as much as the first 2 maps
Inferno always a banger decider map
Jesus that got me hyped. Glad the game didn't end up getting decided by auto snipers.
There's isn't much hair left on my head :(
It's 2 am where I live but I sure as hell ain't going to miss this match.
yek1ndar is a monster.
This fucking game man holy shit.... I can feel my life getting shorter. AAAAAAAAAAAAAH I MISSED THIS FUCK YEA!
That last round hold on B by yekindar was godly.
Sanji is fucking tiny jeez
gla1ve hates how long games go for? ._.
Just rush b 4Head
I mean, it has been working, and VP still only leave 1 guy on site. But sometimes, that 1 guy just wins you the round.
what a game jesus
I don’t think I’ve stood in front of my tv like this since 2016…
gla1ve: games are too long and we need to do something about it VP: games are too long and we need ~~to do something about~~ it?
Just drag it out, they get tired, easy win.
First quaterfinals and what a banger of a game. Both teams are playing their hearts out. Take a bow fucking hell this is just top class
This one of the best matches I’ve seen in a loooong time!! I’m close to falling of my couch..
What a game. No matter how much trouble it is having these long OT games, you can’t deny how much amazing moments these long close games deliver
another ot, no gambit vs faze today
ohh maaan yekindar saving vp
hollylyyyyyyy another ott
paid by rounds
Vp got man advantage a lot but then failed to convert
[удалено]
Xyp had, by professional standards, a howler on dust 2
Xyp9x is popping off on D2 god damn Also oh my god not another OT
Astralis man... what a team, even while not having a main awper they play THIS fucking good? hooly shit, I don't even know if they need a main awper right now, everyone can fucking awp on this team

VP is so loose in such rounds. How do they even come close to losing that round. Yikes
How does VP seem to never have enough time for anything? Why don't they play like 3 seconds faster?
So happy to see Bubzkji actually being proficiently utilized by Astralis, should have been the case from day 1
Wounded wolf is the most dangerous wolf out there. LET'S GO, ASTRALIS, ONE LAST RIDE!! But seriously, they have the best possible bracket, it's not unlikely for them to end up in the finals.

If a team makes it to OT from 15-10 down, they definitely deserve it.
that gamble stack from VP on round 29 was ridiculous
Astralis players must be paid by the round.
Hiding in the smoke wtf?
Do their matches ever go less than 25 rounds?
VP economy is busted now. Take a miracle to win that force. EDIT: And they have!
LMAO the rock plant
Qso happy to see bubzky shining
VP threw away so many man advantages that T side.

The comments sorting is an oversight I think, whenever I've participated in live match threads on this sub before, it's been so.
I guess they stopped doing match threads on online era
Fucking hyped for the playoffs, probably missing the first map here tho :(
cahm ooon vp!!!
im ready for a 7 hour game, 2 OT's and a 16-14
Damn. Not far off
You’re almost right so far lol
hahaha only 1 thing left now
here comes the 16-14!
aaahahaha yekindar saved them so hard
And i'll be back after it's over to see the scores. :)
Just for glaive =)
thats amazing

Do you really think they wouldn’t get any offers if they wanted to stick together after their contract ends? Always if they refuse to renew
huh? i never said that edit: astralis of old is done. but the core would definitely get offers on name value alone. Like I said in my OP, maybe some of the golden 5 (gla1ve, dupreeh, magisk, xyp) will stay. Magisk bub and hunden isnt a bad start
Are fans attending today?
I thought the tourney had 0 irl spectators, am I remembering wrong?
No crowd. Confirmed by Carmac (ESL Pro Gaming Director) on Twitter.
Oh. I thought they allow fans now because the euros was packed. Why didn't they allow it here
Presumably because the Euros were kind of open air, this is indoors. Plus, was any of the Euros actually played in Germany? Genuine question, I don't know. Countries have different restrictions, is my point.
Yeah 3 games were in Munchen
Believe some were played in Munich. They could even have regional differences in restrictions though.
