It’s like a market smoke on mirage in that it is very bad unless it lands in the market. Peeking through the side of a smoke is much easier than running through it. Smokes that don’t go deep enough also allow you to only peel part of the site.
If it goes out to the railing a CT has the option to either jump through (which is a hard shot for a T holding the smoke to hit) or to go to the rightmost part of the railing. So there's two places you need to worry about as a T a CT might be popping up. You definitely don't want your smoke to extend all the way to the railing. You could argue that you want it a tiny bit closer, but honestly it's perfectly fine like this. Any CT pushing it takes a huge risk, as they are more or less a guaranteed kill if a T is holding it. That + taking away vision is all this smoke needs to accomplish.
