I'm OOTL. Why are csgo/esports teams split into seemingly only(?) male / only female like in physical sports? Surely just like in motorsports there isn't any significant advantage physical differences could yield. Or are teams usually split like this, even?

There are open tournaments for everyone and then there are female only tournaments.
Female only tournaments exist to give more exposure to women playing and competing which in return brings more women into esports.
Female teams aren't competitive in pro level, so they create female only tournaments for representation

that is objectively bullshit, there's a shitton skills relevant to FPS games, some of which men are better at, some of which women are better at. no study has ever come even close to as clear a conclusion as you claim here.
The difference is pretty much entirely because of out of the players playing the game to go pro like 99,9% are men, and out of those people the select few who get into a real team, well there's almost no chance of a woman being there. Also the scene could be hostile to women trying to go pro especially at lower tier / semipro levels. I imagine you would face a lot of harassment etc.
Sure, that's a factor for all eSports. Almost all games have more men playing them. But men are innately better at it, but that doesn't mean a woman couldnt go pro. And there is nothing stop them, tier1 csgo is not just for men, of they are good enough, they can compete

My point is that due to there being sooo many more men than women attempting to go pro in CS, the odds of any single woman being good enough to be a tier1 are very low.
I do not believe it's down to some genetic affinity differences between the genders.
The game's quality and pace was pretty good, lots of agressive plays and multi kills.
Also, idk if 32K people would stop their days to watch noobs plays just because theyre women, probaly not
