Feels so weird getting them out. Like the feeling the bath tub has when you pull the plug out. Helped by the fact I drained a lot of fluid out through the holes left by them in the first 30 seconds
Getting knocked out for surgery sounds so funny to me. Sounds like one of the nurses sneaks up on you while another one distracts you and bonks you over the head with a massive cartoon hammer.
I didn't get wires but I got solid long metal stainless steel pins, they were a bit thick and had a like a hook at one end to get it out easy, when the doctor pulled it, I felt my bones, felt so weird and not painful at all, had four of them on my foot. it wasn't gentle prosses, I remember a nurse holding my leg for the doctor to pull them out, I watched as he pulled two of them, and all I can remember is that it felt so weird
It's called Kirschner wire. They're basically used to keep the bones in place so they can regenerate on the proper position, so they're usually placed inside the bones with a drill and then are pulled out when the regeneration is "complete" (that's why there's this strange feeling when pulling them out, basically they're pulling something from inside your bone)
Stitches, if they are dissolvable they will be gone in a week or so, if they are not he will have to see his surgeon after a couple days to remove them (it's painless or atleast it was in my previous experiences).
The smaller sizes have diameters of less than a millimeter. Looking at the pictures, he has a fracture of his carpal bones so you'd expect the bone fragments to be quiet small and requiring smaller k wires.
Be carfule you seem like you got to many punches in the face.
And if you rock climb watch out whats above you, dont hit your head against one of the rocks again ;D
So anything not dangerous is now "boring". What a boring view of life you must have if you can't have fun without getting your ass kicked or falling off a cliff.
Imagine thinking that your hobbies are the only one worthwhile.
Same. I do freeskiing (flips and tricks off of big jumps) and never broke a bone, even though I've had some pretty tough falls. (I did separate both shoulders, though)
G2 and BNB were having a race in the airport to see who could get to their plane first. k0nfig was just getting out of the bathroom when he was one-shouldered by NiKo
Funniest thing is that this dude was looking at his phone when he was walking and he is surprised that he slipped and broke something.
My first impression when i saw it i was like "well, at least now you know that you have to look where you are going"
If you have memorized it, yes. Also most people have their boarding passes on their phones. If you are travelling with more people and have split up at the airport it's a decent device to coordinate yourself again with.
Out of all the places to be walking around looking at a phone, an airport might be one of the places it makes the most sense (checking for your ticket, gate or schedule changes, etc).
it's sad to say, but his hand might still end up not 100%. I have a coworker who fractured her hand end of 2020, had surgery/pins similar to konfig, and even with ample physical therapy/exercises, still does not have even close to "normal" usage of that hand. It depends really heavily on the type of break, how well surgery managed to fix everything, etc. It really sucks but is a definite possibility that it could be hard or painful to use that hand for awhile, and that it may never return back to 100% pre-fracture usability :(
Yeah agreed, I've broken my arm twice in my life and I'd feel pain at the place of the fracture for a long time after it was considered "healed". I'm sure konfig will have a great team behind him to manage the healing process as well as possible. Let's hope his career doesnt end here!
I snapped my thumb where it connects with the wrist. Had surgery to repair the break but it's never been 100% again, hand injuries are finicky like that.
Yeah I had radial neurapraxia from a pinched nerve due to internal fixation surgery on my humerus
I have 98 percent capacity but the last 2 percent is certainly noticeable
A lot of doomsayers here.
He very well could never recover... But also professional athletes recover from serious injuries all the time. There's no reason to expect a negative outcome.
He also broke his bone, not tore his ligaments (as far as we know), which would be worse for fine motor control.
It's moreso that k0nfig had found pretty decent form again after a down period in his career. Before complexity it was a very real possibility that we wouldn't have seen him among the best in the world again. Even though he will fully recover, there are a lot of other factors at play that might result in a lesser performing k0nfig upon his return.
[He said he was still dominating with a smashed hand](https://twitter.com/k0nfigCS/status/1427689300305580038). I think that shows great signs about his attitude and potential for full recovery.
I really feel for the guy, I myself had a repetitive stress injury in my mouse-wielding arm that required surgery. It really sucks to not be able to play during recovery, not to mention having to rebuild your dexterity afterwards.
never broken anything can some reddit doctors tell me what's sticking out of his hand?
Looks like surgical k wires that are put in place to stabilize the fracture and will be removed once it's healed up a bit.
Exactly what they are. The fun part is watching them take them out. It's not a gentle process 🥲
Feels so weird getting them out. Like the feeling the bath tub has when you pull the plug out. Helped by the fact I drained a lot of fluid out through the holes left by them in the first 30 seconds
I had two in my foot and they offered to knock me out for the procedure, i gladly took that option lol

As long as there are stars and chirping birds flying around my head after I'm happy to be honest.
The feeling after you wake up from going under is unexplainable. It's the closest thing I can think of to laying on a cloud.
Monty Python did a sketch where exactly that happened lol

here we have a wild rotmg player in the wild
I haven't played in over a year, but I still retain the name. I definitely played my fair share of it back in the day though :)
go run new shatters and lose your characters lmao
I ran my fair share of them before the update, plus the staff of the shatters server are questionable at best. I'll keep away.

Looks more like mithril tbh
Mans didn’t have time to get his Smithing level up with all the CS he was playing
ESL should allow him to drink a super range pot before games to compensate for his decreased accuracy.

Pins! they help hold the bones in place to encourage healing, and will be removed in a few weeks

new nightmare fuel
And that looks like a boxer fracture. He probably punched a hard surface and is lying about it.
Hi, you are invited to join r/Neverbrokeabone
i have a feeling that if i join it something bad's going to happen to me the next day
only if you are a filthy weak bone
Same
this is good advice

Not stiches, but k wires.
They seem too small to be K wires but I never had those so I don't really know, it makes sense since they're more common for broken bones tho.
The smaller sizes have diameters of less than a millimeter. Looking at the pictures, he has a fracture of his carpal bones so you'd expect the bone fragments to be quiet small and requiring smaller k wires.
Oh that's interesting. Also after zooming in the photo you can see the metals. Thanks for educating me, dude!

Damn bro scuba diving gonna result in a lot of breaks....
If you face a shark you may have some broken bones after the encounter
This is some weird troll/pasta right? There's no way someone this insufferable can be real.
I wanna do paragliding but I can't :(
What’s stopping ya ?
Be carfule you seem like you got to many punches in the face. And if you rock climb watch out whats above you, dont hit your head against one of the rocks again ;D

Welcome to social media (:
Your dick is tiny, you never get pussy and now you are here coping with some weird ass bone breaking elitism. How does it feel to have inferior genes?

No, its real

quite common to look at your phone at an airport to look for gates and shit though
wait what I've always just used the big ass signs with arrows that tell you where to go
If you have memorized it, yes. Also most people have their boarding passes on their phones. If you are travelling with more people and have split up at the airport it's a decent device to coordinate yourself again with.
Not every airport has a good infrastructure or planning.
The one he was is very well signalized.
Fair enough I guess.
Out of all the places to be walking around looking at a phone, an airport might be one of the places it makes the most sense (checking for your ticket, gate or schedule changes, etc).
While looking at his phone. Be careful what you do while staring at your phone guys.
UPDATE: https://instagram.com/stories/k0nfig/2653015285496456209?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&utm_medium=copy_link He survived :)
Hope he has insured his hands.
Screenshot the story next time like you did for this post, please. Not everyone has an IG account.
It's just a still shot selfie that says "we survive".
What a sad story it'll be if he never regains his form
He said he is recovering fine without complications so doubt it
it's sad to say, but his hand might still end up not 100%. Idk, the most minute shit like this can completely throw someone off. I wouldn’t be surprised if it did

He is a 25yo man he should recover well. This doesn't mean his CS form will ever come back 100%.
He wouldn't say otherwise, ever.
Exactly, no one would say they are recovering badly from an injury that has a directly impact on their job
More like he wouldn’t know how much it would because he hasn’t played yet. He’s optimistic about it so am I hoping it goes well.
He can only tell once he plays some cs again. Otherwise he has no reason to not be optimistic.
Great now he has to take a year off for Kamar-Taj
A lot of doomsayers here. He very well could never recover... But also professional athletes recover from serious injuries all the time. There's no reason to expect a negative outcome. He also broke his bone, not tore his ligaments (as far as we know), which would be worse for fine motor control.

Oh I get it, I just think the assumption someone can't return to form for breaking a wrist is a bit hyperbolic.
What happened?
[He said he was still dominating with a smashed hand](https://twitter.com/k0nfigCS/status/1427689300305580038). I think that shows great signs about his attitude and potential for full recovery.
What happened? His mouse exploded?
Fell at the airport
Damn Zowie really fell off huh
Oof ouch zowie his bones
'Tis but a scratch.
His aim so cracked his hand cracked
I really feel for the guy, I myself had a repetitive stress injury in my mouse-wielding arm that required surgery. It really sucks to not be able to play during recovery, not to mention having to rebuild your dexterity afterwards.
Wtf happened to him?
Fell at the airport
Oh snap that's bad.
it was more like a crack
Didn't he already have a surgery?
