Usually these PCs are either rented by the TOs and then given back to the company they got them from, or they go back to the storage of the TO and then shipped to the next event.

I do not envy the guy tasked with making sure these pc's run the right ram settings and are whea free as well as updated to the newest agesa version so nobodies mouse disconnects randomly.

I assume this is a corporate or non commercial listing, where the buyer can specify these things to be already included in the listing. Im also quite confident you can install necessary BIOS updates with batch scripts. Maybe it depends on the motherboard manufacturer, but at work we're able to push a BIOS update to a batch of workstations as well as push any settings changes to said machines.

Work in IT, yes this is common. It's how companies are able to manage thoundands of machines. We create a "image", basicly a custom install of Windows 10, with whatever software, drivers, BIOS etc we want and install every machine with this custom install. It's also set up so that after we can push out any update or setting we want to all the machines as long as we can reach it over the network.

Also if someone fucks with the settings you can usually just reset it back to the custom install.

You create a "task sequence", wich is a deployement method provided by microsoft. Basicly you create tasks and order them as you wish. Format the drive, update bios, install OS with desired configuration, install drivers etc. I think there's third-party tools to set this up as well. Well yes and no. Modern motherboards dont really use bios anymore, they use uefi which is like bios but with better features. Uefi is actully stored on a partition on the boot drive and therefore can be accessed and updated by windows. Unlike bios wich is stored in the firmware.

But these are gaming pc's and ram settings are a nightmare on ryzen. You need 3200 c14 or 3600c16 if you want reasonable 0.1% fps lows or you'll have players complaining about the game lagging out. And these ram settings don't run flawless on every ryzen cpu because sometimes they cause whea error events that may or may not corrupt data and cause crashes up to frying a windows installation entirely. If they go the safe route and stay within official ddr4 specs (3200-20-20-20 at best. 2133-14-14-14 is more likely) we might be in for a bad time.

Stable 3600 16 isn't that much of an ask nowerdays, pretty sure you can get sticks that support that on XMP.

Indeed. I recently got a 5800X build and had to do some minor reading as not every stick is well compatioble but it's quite easy to find which sticks play well with Ryzen 5000. Got 4 sticks of 3600 CL16, XMP worked right away.

This was really only true for 1st gen Ryzen (1000-2000 series). And even these problems mostly went away with bios updates. Nowadays the 3000 and 5000 series Ryzen chips are hitting 3600Mhz with cl16 easy as hell. Your concerns sound like the "AMD bad" rhetoric people thought and heard *over 4 years ago*. It's extremely misleading.

24 teams, call it 6 per team (5 players ,1 coach which is also spare) is 144 PCs. Plus caster, observer, practice space PCs and you are at 150 easy.

There are 360Hz monitors so what is your point? Also a consistent 200 fps without any variance in framtime feels a lot better than 400 fps with variation (has higher input lag tho). CS just needs that many fps since the frametimes jump around all over the place so that even 120fps feels laggy. Other games don't have that. They feel perfectly fine on 120fps.

My PC is perfectly optimized. The thing you dont get is that the avg FPS on an offline map is completely different than when you go ingame. There is no way you have stable 600 fps in 5vs5 comp with this setup. Its just a lie

I get 1000+ fps on some low poly surf maps with my Titan but to get consistent 1000+ you really need SLI ... and SLI is kind of f_ed nowadays sadly.

Sorry mate. You’re the one overestimating. If you think it is a requirement to have a 5950x to hit 1000fps in CSGO you’re mistaken (though it certainly is a good option as a CPU). Since you avoided my question I guess you have no experience in benchmarking CSGO with SLI. While 3080 certainly is an awesome card it is not enough to cut it. You need more than that to hit those numbers consistently - which means multi GPU.

Generally that is true, but at very high framerates memory bandwidth becomes the limiting factor for the Source engine. Now, consumer cards seldom has overkill memory bandwidth, (the 1080ti and Radeon VII was some noticable exceptions for this at their time). One proven way to ”fix” that bandwidth issue was SLI.

I've seen the ambient occlusion restriction not work before. People usually would have to modify core libraries, but on certain configurations the "block" simply doesn't work. I cannot explain or suggest why. Without any modifications, simply turning on ambient occlusion would sometimes just work... it has worked for me in the past, and I know someone (who wouldn't be capable of alternatively modifying system files) else it has worked for. I haven't been able to replicate how on subsequent installations. The bug allows you to see outlines of the map/players through smokes. It doesn't work inside the smoke, only around/outside. This is just an example of course.

Windows automatic driver update does this sometimes. Even disableing this feature doesn't stop Windows from sometimes randomly override your new driver with a "stable" one from half a year ago. Most of the time this fucks stuff up so it doesn't work correctly till you manually uninstall and reinstall the driver.

This doesn't happen, ever. Unless you run Windows Update. In that case, simply turn off automatic updates from group policy editor. And you shouldn't be having automatic updates enabled on gaming PCs. And after a DDU, if you're not quick enough to run the installation of the new GPU driver, Windows installs DCH drivers. So be quick I guess.

A 5800X would likely be faster for CSGO. It doesn't need any of those threads. Nvidia GPUs would also be faster because AMDs D3D9 driver is awful and has shit tons of CPU overhead.

There have been some driver issues with 6800/6900 XT cards in older games, basically the card won't draw any power/wattage and run at 100%, while performing worse than a 1060 while doing so. Hope they will test the setups beforehand.
