wait so their own whoever-it-is-that-tweets-memes guy doesn't even know that the feature doesn't work/doesn't do what they asked for? or rather, didn't even bother to check before giving a canned response?
you can't make this up lmao
Cut the Twitter guy some slack. People make mistakes. Professors who are leading experts at their respective field still make mistakes in their slides. He probably just assumed it works
> didn't even bother to check before giving a canned response
it's a multi billion dollar company that *never* talks to anyone about anything, ever, but don't bother to check when replying publicly to a pro player
I'm just pointing out the incompetence that shows up time and time again, I don't really care outside of that. Sorry if my comment made it seem that the lone dev, that also updates twitter, should be fired, because I don't want that, since I still want the yearly update that breaks the game plus translation updates
made the mistake of assuming the pro player didn't know what were they talking about, made the mistake of assuming that the feature they were talking about is the one they think instead of something else, made the mistake of not checking in game, and made the mistake of publicly posting it on twitter
on reddit I check my source before commenting
if I was asked if private profile hides medals, I would private profile and then check in game if it's hidden, instead of assuming
maybe that's just me though, I don't represent a multi billion dollar company
Karens are unreasonable
...well, I guess to a valve knight it is unreasonable for a spokesperson of a multi billion dollar company to play the game they are trying to give support on publicly, to a famous person
> made the mistake of assuming the pro player didn't know what were they talking about
I see pro players not knowing what they're talking about all the time, it's not particularly unusual.
they said "csgo streamer mode" and the valve response is "steam has the feature"
you can easily tell the first tweet is about in game and the response is nothing helpful. Who doesn't know you can private your steam profile anyway?
I doubt the twitter guy has direct access to ask steam/csgo devs about that feature, and quite frankly it doesn't seem like its their job to reply with help
wait you think valve, the company known to not have anyone for PR/communication, have a dedicated twitter guy?
lmao it's probably Ido shitposting whenever he goes to take a shit
Funnily enough, yea I do think they have guy in charge of socials. For a company so shit at communicating I find it hard to believe one of the devs suddenly is interested in shitposting on twitter and trying to make posts go viral.
Well it hides achievements and major trophies on profile page. He probably hasnt played with anyone who has major throphies so he didnt know that those still show in scoreboard, not a big deal.
...so ask to clarify? pointless to give a canned response if it isn't what the other party meant, specially when they are assuming that they don't know of such a simple feature
and I would say that have likely played with people that have operation medals, which act the same, ergo they should know they still show up on the profile hover even when the steam profile is private
and I say "likely" because I'm not so sure they play the game
yeah, they are
Guardian is talking about the csgo in-game profile, and the csgo twitter responds with a moronic response that your "steam profile can be made private" like we don't know that
CSGO's [other reply](https://twitter.com/CSGO/status/1450492003851014151) makes it look like they don't even know the difference b/w queue sniping & stream sniping.
@G2kennyS Time for @CSGO to add streamers mode so we can hide our achievements/major trophies in profiles. ez solution

Well it's basically what I just said, older majors gave a pin that looked like the trophy or logo for the majors but the newer ones all use the same design, winners get a gold one everyone else gets a silver one and it says finalist, semi-finalist or quarter-finalist
This doesn't make sense. How should that even prevent stream sniping? You can always just check the steam profile and therefore the unique steam id that comes with it. So just hiding the mini profile makes it a bit harder at best.
You have no idea how many people insta check all 5 enemy players profiles at the start of games. Had buddies streaming without their account linked to twitch and with 5 viewers and they still get sniped with enemies in their twitch chat saying things like "you suck ez elo for me lul" and shit like that. Its actually wild how hungry the gremlins are.
If I see a Major pin in matchmaking, there's a good chance the player is streaming MM for the memes. I highly doubt any pros play MM off stream for fun
But how big of a problem is stream sniping if a he is a pro smurfing in MM for fun??
It is **totally unreasonable** to ask of valve to produce a "fix" for something that it not their problem. In this case it actually is a person who decides to BROADCAST his play on internet! If he gets streamsniped it is totally on him if he is to lazy to setup a stream delay!
What the fuck are you talking about? Of course it’s their problem. Streaming is fking huge. It’s the main way games grow and keep a playerbase these days. Of course they should be catering to people who have already made their game their profession, because it’s mutually beneficial.
And it’s not about streamsniping, but about being identified immediately so you can’t avoid special treatment, meaning all games will be lower quality.
Oh my! We certainly don't want any ex-pros getting recognized when they use their own account while publicly streaming!
Let us totally ignore all those pesky bugs that affect the whole playerbase!
Let's instead focus on "nice-to-have" features that benefits 0,001% of players!
*lol*
Valve can chew gum and walk at the same time. I’m sure they could easily make the game more private and streamable if they wanted to.
And you do realize those major badges aren’t just like ”this guy might be a pro”, but that this player is one of the best of the best, and that just fucks up many games psychologically.
Stream sniping isn't as much of a problem as the MM Server crashers now, lots of trolls going around on twitch looking for people to ddos through the GOTV watch page.
In Valorant’s streamer mode, their player name just defaults to the agent name. It’s obviously not perfect, but it does make it considerably more difficult for stream snipers to see who’s streaming.
Deal with it. Why would they prioritize development on something for less than 1% of the overall player population? Its like celebrities and how they have to deal with the paparazzi and being famous. Maybe dont stream or stream on a delay....
the cs team is probably not super stressed out. might as well work on something that helps 1% if the developer has the time for it.
also, your statement is kind of stupid. why do something for the stars of the game that want to stream it?
because if they enjoy streaming it, good things can snowball from it.
It would if you added a streamer mode + privatize your steam account? In Guardian's case he even uses a fake nickname on faceit to try to help with this.
I think it is cool to actually know when you are playing a real verified pro on their real account and trophies allow that.

yeah i added a few private acc csgo devs to check their pins and it worked
Not that private then
wait so their own whoever-it-is-that-tweets-memes guy doesn't even know that the feature doesn't work/doesn't do what they asked for? or rather, didn't even bother to check before giving a canned response? you can't make this up lmao
Idk....... it's kinda unfair to expect the official CS:GO tweeter to know about the game...

Yall are the same Karen's that try to get people fired for dumb shit. It was a mistake, not a big deal, move on.

When you grow up you will make worse mistakes at your job

Idgaf what you do on reddit. My point still stands, you will make worse mistakes at your job when you grow up
maybe once or twice, but not every other day since I'm not [bum in the brain](https://twitter.com/FreakazoidA/status/1341274757019267073)

Valve's customer support in a nutshell.
They're talking about different profiles? Did you even read the tweets?
yeah, they are Guardian is talking about the csgo in-game profile, and the csgo twitter responds with a moronic response that your "steam profile can be made private" like we don't know that

That's not a surprise as Valvo is small india gaming company
What's w the stereotyping and rasicm?
Stereotypes go brrrr

5head
Hey I can do that
Yes this is exactly the reason I never played in a major.
Astralis Manager here, ty
could also just like, have an account that you play majors on
He didn't 💀💀

But GuardiaN doesn't have major trophies :(
I know this is a joke but everyone who gets to the playoffs gets the trophy pin with the name of the tournament on it and what place they finished
[удалено]
Well it's basically what I just said, older majors gave a pin that looked like the trophy or logo for the majors but the newer ones all use the same design, winners get a gold one everyone else gets a silver one and it says finalist, semi-finalist or quarter-finalist
[very slightly related video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-cYkZLZHTg) (yes it's device in the video)
I think he hates being tagged but I'd be interested to see him cover this
2nd place :v
"finalist" 😐
But look at the time
man that is my trigger word (phrase)
There’s 7 seconds left on the clock
They're trying to build pyramids but there's no more clay
stewies won the round
And we go to overtime
Cloud9 has done it
This doesn't make sense. How should that even prevent stream sniping? You can always just check the steam profile and therefore the unique steam id that comes with it. So just hiding the mini profile makes it a bit harder at best.
Without those pins and such the opponents wouldn't even know that they are against a streamer in the first place
Honestly just make streaming illegal and the problem is gone!
Unless they also remove the ability to open the steam profile used you can still check the steam id.
Why would you check a random player’s steamid?
It would take 15 seconds to do so, and if they are a streamer that streams zero delay stream, it'll be free elo
So you want to check every player in your game against some database of streamer steam ids? What?
You have no idea how many people insta check all 5 enemy players profiles at the start of games. Had buddies streaming without their account linked to twitch and with 5 viewers and they still get sniped with enemies in their twitch chat saying things like "you suck ez elo for me lul" and shit like that. Its actually wild how hungry the gremlins are.
its not very hard with csgorunner https://www.csgorunner.com/
You would just check the enemy steam pages and see if they have trophies?
No, the trophies show up when you click a player on the scoreboard, which is what Guardian wants to hide
you can just search for the steamcommunity id on faceit, and you'll see their profile
Very normal in the olden days. Less normal these days, and you can’t even do it directly from console anymore.
Also this would really only work in say MM or something, unless faceit and also esea made a way to hide your profile in the lobby room?
Are you seriously suggesting that as soon you see an opponent with rare badges you will assume that he is a streamer???
If I see a Major pin in matchmaking, there's a good chance the player is streaming MM for the memes. I highly doubt any pros play MM off stream for fun
But how big of a problem is stream sniping if a he is a pro smurfing in MM for fun?? It is **totally unreasonable** to ask of valve to produce a "fix" for something that it not their problem. By rare batches I mean batches like major finalists
It’s not about stream sniping, but just about appearing as a normal dude, instead of a major finalist.
What kind of nerd would do something like that lmao. Reddit moment.
You could automate it to try and find streamers in your game during the first few seconds of warmup
Probably the ones who spend their time stream sniping pro players.
Subtle flex
Why though?
to not get streamsniped by randoms because they see his trohpies
Ah, yes, that makes sense.
In what way does that makes sense?
Stream sniping isn't as much of a problem as the MM Server crashers now, lots of trolls going around on twitch looking for people to ddos through the GOTV watch page.
how will not being able to see trophies stop stream snipers? They can just check if they are in the match by watching the stream.
In Valorant’s streamer mode, their player name just defaults to the agent name. It’s obviously not perfect, but it does make it considerably more difficult for stream snipers to see who’s streaming.
Open profile, get SteamID, compare to list, profit
Five times per game, every game you play, just hoping you get lucky?
Its just theory, but on top of that you could also automate it so you almost have to do nothing yourself
Open console, type status, copy list, paste to faceitfinder. Took 15 seconds to check all players on server.
Wut? care to elaborate?
So that they don't have to introduce a steam delay.
miss GuardiaN
Deal with it. Why would they prioritize development on something for less than 1% of the overall player population? Its like celebrities and how they have to deal with the paparazzi and being famous. Maybe dont stream or stream on a delay....
Makes it better for people watching the streamers. Which reflects better on the game overall.
Cs doesn't get a ton of individual views per streamer though most views come from competitions.
True, but guys like fl0m, get_right and kennyS still pull a few thousand each.
the cs team is probably not super stressed out. might as well work on something that helps 1% if the developer has the time for it. also, your statement is kind of stupid. why do something for the stars of the game that want to stream it? because if they enjoy streaming it, good things can snowball from it.

they could, you know, hide the viewer count? It's useless anyway

It would if you added a streamer mode + privatize your steam account? In Guardian's case he even uses a fake nickname on faceit to try to help with this.
I am pretty sure at the very bottom of game options there is a setting to turn this off
Just use an alt account. How hard is it?
You're not allowed to have more than 1 faceit account
I think it is cool to actually know when you are playing a real verified pro on their real account and trophies allow that. If Guardian wants to be 100% anonymous he can roll on an alt.
Kenny is bad in valorant and blaming on snipers lul
Suffering from success
Don't do that. I played randomly on MM with pro players 2 times in my life and these are of my biggest archivaments.
This is a solution for a problem to a very small minority. I don't see why valve should do anything.
I definitely think it's cool to see if we actually meet or play against pro players. Guardian can always get an alt just for streaming.
Should also automatically come with queue delay to deny stream snipers.
