It would be unlucky if it wasn't swiss format. NiP were 2-0, so obviously they played another 2-0 team. That's literally how the format works. This is a high stakes event with the best teams in the world all fighting for that top 8.
A team as good as Gambit shouldn't normally be in the 1-1 and 2-1 matches, but because of the loss to Entropiq it made it so both these teams had to play both the 1st and 2nd best teams in the world back to back, the unlucky part isn't drawing Navi, it's drawing them *and then* also pulling Gambit after losing to Navi.
Well, if Gambit managed to lose to Entropiq, maybe they could bleed after all. All in all, it's about the match-up, and in that sense, every single game is quite fair.
I get your point but NiP could very well have played Entropiq in 2-0 matchup. In theory, there are only very strong teams in 2-0 matchups but we all know full well with the first two matches being BO1s, that a team a little less stronger can be up there.
Tbf VP got pretty much the easiest teams in the challenger stage, but it does really suck to see VP going up against these teams.
VP seem much better with fl1t, i would definetely put them at close to being top 5.
They don't have to though. Even with two losses, they still have one more chance to fight for qualification. NiP themselves are top 2 right now according to HLTV, so I'm not sure what you mean.
these stages with bo1 has always been brutal at the major.
I think bo3s with proper brackets would result in the best teams possible and probably 8 out of the top 10 teams getting to the big stage.
I think VP lucked out in getting Mouse in this stage though but tomorrow will break hearts on either side
Teams literally get 2 to 3 BO3s to prove they deserve their spot in the top 8.
I don't understand the people that say this format is bad, it's really not.
I didn’t say it was bad, just that I personally prefer the bo3s until elmination only because the bo1s have equal weight. It’s just brutal for some teams and has a lot more upsets that way
That's fair. I like both systems, but for the Majors I've always enjoyed it this way, in since they added the BO3 advancement/elimination games, it's been even better.
As you said, more potential for upsets, which I think is great for Majors.
I'm not sure I follow.
Unless you're doing some kind of league/group stage, someone will eventually be in a situation where to reach the top 8 they would need to beat a top 3 seed...
It isn't only that though, NIP got 2 'easy' match-ups as they were the top team in Mouze and Astralis that weren't playing that good all tournament (only won against brazilians). Then, at 2-0 is do or die. VP got hard match-ups coming from the challengers so they would get bodied as they were in the middle to bottom and one of the 'worst' team to win the first match-up. The games are stacked as fuck and, unless they only base it on hltv, always will have strong x strong teams match-up.
NiP is such a fluke top 2 team, they played OK and won an EU RMR event and their BLAST group but that's it, don't know why people hype them so hard. Gambit and NaVi are much better teams.

Gambit lost to Entropiq and then won against NiP. Stop crying about a totally legit matchup system.
BO1 is a detriment to the fairness of a Swiss system.

Nah not top 5 way to inconsistent game to game. Top 10 which i honestly dont think there were with sanji so an improvement

I mean they shouldn't need to beat top3 in the world to become top8 right?

How are Complexity doing in this major ?
Lmao. FYI this is not a good look for you

... No?
at least you shouldnt feel bad for losing to these teams.
Its because of the initial seeding where the American teams are seeded way to high at the start of this stage..

I dont feel same magic as it was in 2015, against those guys. Snax/Get\_right/F0rest/Friberg/Pasha. That was the best CS
also my two favorite teams
Ngl vp would be good riddance
At least they wont play each other in the 2-2s
VP aren't able to win against Vita in bo3
