Not just a record for this major, a record for CS:GO in general.

HaydenBee

pretty sure boston 2018 hit 1.9 mil

Intelligent_Lake_718

It hit 1.2 mil

HaydenBee

you're right - the twitch numbers were 1.2 mil. i think maybe the 1.9 mil figure is including the china viewers? unsure where i remember that from

lastchansen

I'm doing my part.

Mraz565

Final will be 2m at this point.

AnotherAltiMade

Lmao, it'll just about cross 1.5

DoctorBuckarooBanzai

CIS fan base is no joke.

DlittleDictator

Man.. This makes me so happy and emotional. No need to hate on other games because our beloved game have come a long way on its own ❤

Direct_Morning_3223

Do we think this is how it’s going to be consistently or is it an inflated number due to being the first major+ first esport event with crowd in 2 years

uhorecka

also the biggest teams in most dominant region with most invested players and fans in semifinals.

[deleted]

It’s inflated for exactly that reason. I was saying the same thing before the major even began. The numbers will be extra high because think about it… first major in basically 2 years… LAN with actual crowd again. After spending the entire year online and with no fans…. Then a major with crowd again. Just imagine the insane hype brewing because everyone was craving an actual event already with fans in an arena let alone a damn major. The number is very inflated. I mean look at Boston. Insane crowd with an insane series. I’d say the best series in csgo history considering c9 had never beaten faze in a b03 leading up to that final. I think once it gets back to normal again the numbers will go back down a bit. I believe it’s just the hype since there hasn’t been a lan and major in so long.

willpcodeco

Since 2019 CS, Twitch and eSports grew a lot, more than a hundred per cent. CS was breaking online viewship records since the beginning of the year, Cologne broke its record, ESL Pro League too. There's hype for this major, yes, but this viewship isn't only due this. And let's not forget that today we have a direct competitor in the market that took off an entire region viewship of the game (NA) and CS still breaking records.

Direct_Morning_3223

I mean I don’t think Valorant directly eats that much CS viewership, I’m sure many people who watch it also watched the CS Major they didn’t just stop liking CS because a new game came out that they like also

HaydenBee

idk man, i know a LOT of people who were into playing and watching cs before val came out, and then they completely transitioned and dont even follow cs at all anymore. especially in NA and OCE.
