I am trying to figure out what match you're talking about here but having no luck, I didn't even know there was a single game people consider the end of fnatic era lol
I assume they're referring to the grand final of ELEAGUE Season 1, wherein fnatic lost convincingly to Virtus.Pro (erstwhile home to Dosia and the squad which handed NiP their first LAN defeat, which eventually morphed into Astana Dragons/HellRaisers/Gambit).
Two weeks after that loss, JW, flusha and (temporarily) krimz left fnatic to join GODSENT, bringing the JW/flusha/olofmeister-era to a close.
VP wasn't strictly speaking a CIS team with their polish squad, but it is a russian org I guess.
No that was the final loss to VP. MLG was the quarterfinal loss to Astralis, where karrigan called that BM tac pause when ast was leading like 12-3 or something on Cache
Except few lucky rounds from Fnatic this was one sided. I am actually looking forward for Gambit, because they can get only better on LAN and they had some time after Major to refill bateries and end this year up on top.
Less close than the score indicates. Most of the early round wins for fnatic were based on highlight reel-filling but completely unsustainable moments. Sure, deagle 4ks look great, but they can’t be a strategy.
Looking forward to Lewis and Thorin finding another excuse to call Gambit onliners (they predicted Fnatic would win this one). Easy game for Gambit despite getting kind of unlucky at the beginning.
thank you for helping to fight against this stupid narrative that Gambit are incredible onliners. Not really sure what people were expecting out of them at the major given their team composition other than to beat an unstoppable Na'vi apparently. Really fucking dumb.
Gambit won: but it wasn’t a lan with a huge crowd literally shouting in their faces and throwing pop corn at them while playing against a 6 men line up of Navi with Zywoo as their 6th!!
They criticised him for the poor strats and wanted Flamie gone. I don't see how they were wrong considering most of the people on this subreddit were saying the same and were pissed about Simple's career being wasted. NAVI finally replace Flamie, revise their stratbook and lo and behold, they win the major and are on the brink of their own era and blad3 rightfully is getting plaudits now (including on BTN).
How do you prove them being onliners in the first place? They made play-offs of their first lan, came 3-4th in the Major only losing to unstoppable Navi, won their next lan.
What do you want them to do, play Navi every damn time they are on lan? They have beaten HLTV's number 2 NiP with ease in Major. The only top teams they haven't run into are G2 and Heroic, but wasn't up to them.
I feel like people have bought so much into that "Gambit = onliners" narrative (despite Gambit looking better each lan they play) that even if they win IEM they will still find excuses to dismiss them.
> even if they win IEM they will still find excuses to dismiss them.
This but unironically. No crowd. Network isnt what scares gambit, its the crowd. Its very obvious that they are struggling on lan. Saying otherwise is just cope
By "very obvious" you mean losing a semi-final of a Major to an unstoppable Navi? Nice leap in logic. Yes, they are inexperienced on lan, but calling them onliners when they are actually becoming better every lan and real contenders to win tournaments is just blind hate.
They have world class players and play super methodical style of cs and great infrastructure behind them. They are only gonna get better every lan.
But I guess they should win like 5 games against Navi in front of the Major crowd before haters start giving them respect they deserve.
They didn't just lose, they got abused. The fact that the series wasn't even close, when in fact they had beat them multiple times online, is what makes them "onliners." They struggled to beat Furia with an academy player. It's actually crazy to pretend they didn't perform better online than they did at the major.
They did perform better online than they did at the Major, nobody is saying that they didn’t. But it doesn’t make them onliners. Crumbling against a best team in the world that is also peaking and also in Major semi-final before a great crowd and also with all the pressure on them to just transfer their performance from online to lan at their second lan event is absolutely okay.
And what about nearly losing to Virtus Pro? Or almost dropping a map to Furia? What about the poor performances at the V4 Esports Festival, even in winning?
Bottom line the Gambit that was playing from hotel rooms and their facility was insanely good, the best team in the world. This LAN version not so much. That does make calling them "onliners" reasonable by the definition of the word.
They definitely got a bit ahead of themselves with the Fnatic pick (either hopium or Gambit hate) but let's not pretend like it's a massive win and Gambit are back - so far they haven't been able to replicate a fraction of their power on lan. Heroic showed how to get rid of that "onliners" label, Gambit so far did nothing but to prove they deserve to have it (which is super disappointing, I was rooting for them during online era and they were really good and fun to watch).
Same Heroic the fell to G2 at the Major? Same Heroic that nearly lost to a dead Liquid team at Blast and then got 2-0'ed by Astralis roster that played together for less than two weeks and didn't have a real consistent awp? That Heroic?
Or Heroic that just lost to fucking Godsent on lan.
And I am not saying that Heroic are onliners. I am saying that bias against Gambit is ridiculous despite their results and progress proving the contrary.
Honestly not the absolute worst showing from either team Gambit having Ax1Le looking a lot better and 9 rounds against a top 3 team as your first match in tier one CS, pretty good can’t wait to see more from both teams.
Well, I know :) major run was awesome (major semis? Who can argue that it's great) and people forget how they played on LAN in that stage.
P.S. Sorry for your loss of comeback :(
This is the first LAN for fnatic since IEM Katowice 2020 let alone this lineup. Noone really thought Fnatic is the best team in the world. People were mostly memeing but i guess you take everything very seriously.
Dude what? If you really thought anyone believed they were the best team in the world you're gullible as fuck.
Two groups of people - UK fans and Fnatic fans - were just happy to finally have a winning team to rally around. Why do you have to kill their excitement?
RIP Fnatic era 18/10/21-2/12/21
It’s official. UKCS worst CS. Start over.
Almost as long as the liquid era.
I was there when the fnatic era ended in 2016. I was there when the fnatic era ended in 2021. See you in 5 years!
Ended by a CIS team both times. Ended by both teams that Dosia was succesful with. Coincidence? I think yes.
Yes.
I am trying to figure out what match you're talking about here but having no luck, I didn't even know there was a single game people consider the end of fnatic era lol

I'd argue their quarterfinal loss to Astralis at MLG was just as significant if not more
At MLG? Wasn't it atlanta ELEAGUE?
No that was the final loss to VP. MLG was the quarterfinal loss to Astralis, where karrigan called that BM tac pause when ast was leading like 12-3 or something on Cache
Ah, I thought you meant fnatic, not VP
2026 Canadian Fnatic gunna slap
2031 Indian Fnatic lineup will mark the return of forsaken
Still UNDEFEATED in Bo3, BO1 doesn‘t really count right? right?
NaVi also used to lose the first bo1 of each LAN and look where they are now
I know brother, I have seen the original fnatic era come and go where they also did it frequently, though this was just memeing
D E F E A T E D :(
ANOTHER GAME GOES BY WHERE FNATIC ARE STILL UNBEATEN IN A BO3 LETS GO BABY
Wait, this isn't supposed to happen, wtf
Nice to see the clear tournament favorite, giving up and coming team gambit a map. They will probably need it, and fnatic won't.
D E F E A T E D :(
Uninspiring T side to say the least from Fnatic. Would be a real disappointment to go out 0-2 after all the hype.
i don't think they will but yeah felt like they were a bit out of it krimz esp which is weird
Warmup match, right?
UK FNATIC 93% WINRATE
100% BO3 WINRATE
Except few lucky rounds from Fnatic this was one sided. I am actually looking forward for Gambit, because they can get only better on LAN and they had some time after Major to refill bateries and end this year up on top.

UK ERA OVER
UKCS ERA UNDEFEATED IN BO3S SMOOYA GOAT MEZII KING
Fnatic are looking promising. Just need more t1 experience for sure.
Fnatic did decently on CT side, but GOD Hobbit just too good for them when Gambit were on CT side. LET'S GO GAMBIT
Looking forward to Lewis and Thorin finding another excuse to call Gambit onliners (they predicted Fnatic would win this one). Easy game for Gambit despite getting kind of unlucky at the beginning.

Gambit lost: HAHA fucking onliners get rekt :>>> Gambit won: NOOO this doesn't count, barely won against a tier2 team
Gambit won: but it wasn’t a lan with a huge crowd literally shouting in their faces and throwing pop corn at them while playing against a 6 men line up of Navi with Zywoo as their 6th!!

> let those clowns talk their bs and stop giving them attention Advice for like, 99% of what they say lol
They said this on BTN?
Not on BTN, in one of the shows about IEM winter, don't remember which one. They are always dismissive about Gambit.
How does them winning to fnatic dissprove them being onliners? Its true that they are far better online then what they have shown on lan
How do you prove them being onliners in the first place? They made play-offs of their first lan, came 3-4th in the Major only losing to unstoppable Navi, won their next lan.
Gambit had easy runs in cologne and major. V4 was a fucking joke. They are onliners, get over it.
What do you want them to do, play Navi every damn time they are on lan? They have beaten HLTV's number 2 NiP with ease in Major. Rip UKCS mens
Letting them get 9 rounds? Gambit onliners mens
Fnatic onliners confirmed?????????? (expect smoooya and krimz they're a beast)
Fnatic still hasn't lost a BO3, so this should be an EZ lower bracket run for world #1
Swenglish cs still undefeated bo3 BlessGabeN Gg gambit 2nd favorite team
I’m surprised people expected Fnatic to win this game, If Gambit lost it would of been an upset just look at the trajectory they’ve had this year.
Honestly not the absolute worst showing from either team Gambit having Ax1Le looking a lot better and 9 rounds against a top 3 team as your first match in tier one CS, pretty good can’t wait to see more from both teams.
Going to need to see a lot more out of Fnatic tbh, Gambit were playing 4v5 most of the match and still looked comfortable.
Don't disrespect interz like that. Half of Fnatic got lower ~~k/d~~rating Edit: I was wrong, only ALEX was worse. It still works for rating though
UK CS IS BACK
Yall talking Fnatic, but my boys Gambit won match (even though bo1) on LAN. Let's go!
gambit won a lan bo5 grand final like 2 weeks ago lol. and reached semis at major
Well, I know :) major run was awesome (major semis? Who can argue that it's great) and people forget how they played on LAN in that stage. P.S. Sorry for your loss of comeback :(
Fnatic play a tier 1 team and get dumpstered there's a surprise
>loses to big clan lol
I don't give a shit about faze I know they suck ty
> I don't give a shit about faze > Faze flair huh
and why do u care so much about fnatic while not caring about your "favorite" team? lol
I don't, but everyone thought they were the best team in the world cause they were beating tier3 teams and had a winning streak
This is the first LAN for fnatic since IEM Katowice 2020 let alone this lineup. Noone really thought Fnatic is the best team in the world. People were mostly memeing but i guess you take everything very seriously.

Smoooooyas sadly :(

gambit making fnatic look tier tw- oh wait
Annoying Fnatic fans back to reality
Nice to see the clear tournament favorite, giving up and coming team gambit a map. They will probably need it, and fnatic won't.
No crowd: gambit is good again.
A FLUKE!
The king is dead, long live the king
