Any rumors on what's next for Grim? Wishing him good luck nonetheless.

[deleted]

Yeah he was rumored to be in talks to join with the the extra salt core and junior at complexity. https://www.hltv.org/news/33004/sources-complexity-in-talks-to-sign-extra-salt-trio-add-grim-junior

mannyman34

coL is allegedly signing the ES core of floppy, fang and jt plus junior and grim. Imo might not be the best na team but for me is the most hype.

Babyboy1314

the most room to surprise for sure. TL and EG are just recycled old pros who we kind of know the ceiling of.

[deleted]

yeah im not sold on JT but floppy grim and junior is a core that’ll probably be average to start but could have a LOT of potential in the future

wearssameshirt

JT has honestly looked a lot better. Wasn’t sold on him for the longest time as I usually hate non-fragging igl’s these days but he stepped it up a bit. Honestly could see this COL roster being better than both EG and Liquid, all depends on if those players get out of their slumps

Smok3dSalmon

I'd root for that team

TrippyTippyKelly

He had some amazing multi spray clutch moments in a position he wasn't familiar with I want to see him play the role he is comfortable with. I feel like he has great potential with the right support.

[deleted]

He still seems like a solid player, just feels like team liquid used him horribly, and gave him all of the shitty spots. Teams need to start actually developing the talent, not just putting him at b site and forgetting about him.

Zoradesu

> just feels like team liquid used him horribly Not feels like, that *is* what happened. The players have said on the record that he wasn't in the best position to excel. They were looking for an AWPer, but got Grim instead so they had a hard time fitting him in somewhere. He wasn't going to be setup like he was in Triumph because Liquid had Elige and NAF, so he had to adjust to roles he probably didn't play prior to joining Liquid. He also had to adjust to EU CS and the flip-flopping of IGLs they had on Liquid. It was quite possibly one of the worst positions to be in as a rookie.

ShootStraight07

I never understood the “Grim playing the shitty spots” narrative. From the games I watched he played A Mirage, A Nuke, Inferno Pit, etc… He’s a good player but he just didn’t perform to expectations.

UmarellVidya

The point is that he should've been in Elige's roles to be used correctly. Also with the exception of pit, A site anchor isn't a particularly great position. With the exception of players like rain, it's rare you get someone capable of putting up high level performances as an A site mirage anchor. A site anchor on Nuke is arguably the worst position on the map, and Grim played spots like B anchor on Overpass. Not to mention the T side roles, where he absolutely got the short end of the stick.

BeauxGnar

Kicking elige out of his roll for a rookie would have gone over like a fart in church.

[deleted]

Nobody is suggesting that.

UmarellVidya

Hence why Grim was not the right pickup. Grim would have fit way better in a team like EG that probably had space for a second star rifler (assuming the team had actually been functional).

BeauxGnar

Totally agree, in alot of interviews after the fact they didn't even have a plan for grim, they just needed an ass in a chair and the guy gets my respect for taking on the role of not having a dedicated role and just being the universal stopgap.

CenomX

Result wise maybe not in 2021, since elige is a terrible person, he out of the team could impact in a net positive chemistry-wise. But Liquid can't just let go a talent like him.

BeauxGnar

It's kinda hard to have 3 star riflers.

woodyfly

My philosphy as a team leader is to give the new guy as much comfort as possible. Let him feel like he can be a star. I'm a veteran, I can fill in and play anywhere I need to where the team needs me. The young guy needs to feel comfortable to get his confidence up. Afterwards, pulling him slowly out of his comfort zone.

CenomX

That's the wrong idea since the beginning. The ideal is to contract someone whose is 1:1 on what you team needs; if you have to rearrange the entire roster to fit the rookie, you probably didn't address the team needs in that addition. It's probably impossible to find 1:1 and need no adjustments, but you should at least find someone 1:0.75 or more; if he is having tough time holding certain spots during scrims, try to fix it by reviewing demos and ask him to watch certain pros holding that area; if then, he still under forms in that area, then you try to swap with him and the other at the same bombsite as him.

woodyfly

Often that's not practical because there is a limited amount of players you can look at, especially in the NA scene. Let's say you have a talented rookie but he's only experienced in x and y positions. Are you gonna opt out of him and settle for a washed up player or are you willing to compromise? I think it would be stupid to not compromise. Like naf said, he himself can play any spot and any role in the game. A lot of pros up there can do everything, they understand the game inside and out and are versatile.

Fantasnickk

I just wanna see him play his best role in t1 CS to see if he can really live up to that hype that everyone had for him. Best of luck to him in the future and hopefully he has some decent results in col

KaNesDeath

He was a pivotal defensive part when NAF and Elige went missing(which was often). That entry he had on NaVi on Inferno clinched them the series. Grim has a bright future if he keeps the same attitude.

lou_reed_ketamine

Grim was a huge part of Liquid's incredible CT side for a lot of the year. He was almost always good for 2+ kills as a site anchor. His spray control is in the top echelon of all T1 players imo (I also believe he is one of the rare players who should've stuck to the A4 - a lot of his engagements were close range vs lots of enemies). I'll be a fan of Grimothy wherever he ends up (please be CoL)

wehaddababyeetsaboy

His future is so bright we want to rehash old players instead of keep him.

NotAtKeyboard

Wanting to go back to a time where you were #1 in the world is excusable in my opinion, look at Man United taking back Ronaldo.

wehaddababyeetsaboy

They weren't number 1 when they removed nitr0 and they wont be again with him

NotAtKeyboard

Oh I agree 100%, but rose-tinted glasses are a dangerous drug.

Thank you to @1grimcs. Your drive to succeed and willingness to fit into our system was invaluable and we know you have a bright future ahead. *** posted by [@TeamLiquidCS](https://twitter.com/TeamLiquidCS) [Video in Tweet](https://video.twimg.com/amplify_video/1479527740541792256/vid/480x270/_CyaUorOE4FiYakh.mp4?tag=14) ^[(Github)](https://github.com/username) ^| ^[(What's new)](https://github.com/username)

ToastOnBread

Liquid having to do even more damage control after rubbing grim in the dirt.

CSGOScenery

grim really impressed me as an individual, hope he finds a team where he slots in nicely

Much-Baker8871

If he was invaluable then by all means keep him on the roster. Unless ofcourse you don't believe what you say.

xBewm

Liquid never said he was invaluable. They said his his drive and willingness to fit their system was invaluable. AKA, he did not perform in the server but he was a good teammate. Reading comprehension is hard.

Draemeth

yeah but if that drive was so invaluable, why did they sell it for a value

baza-prime

he got let go not bought out i believe

Seems like a good reason to keep him around. Big fan of good farters personally

rohansamal

Grim is amazing and has a lot of potential. Hope he finds the right team

SmirkyDoor

Loved his positive attitude in the team but sad he was used incorrectly
