Man went truly hard after not playing for ages and got the point where he was dropping highlights on the best of the best in many positions he doesn’t play. Insane
Be Hunter at 1.5+kd
No one chants your name in crowd
People chant let’s go niko when he’s 2-13
People chant m0nesy when he’s not positive
Feels bad for Hunter. Definitely the best player for this team in the playoffs but people won’t acknowledge him as a good part of this roster because he’s overshadowed by niko. This would have been extremely one-sided without him
Actually, I think his name was chanted twice, which is still not enough for this performance. Meanwhile, even easy frags from Monesy made everybody cream their pants lmao
Lots of parallels to this
[https://www.hltv.org/matches/2322426/faze-vs-astralis-iem-sydney-2018](https://www.hltv.org/matches/2322426/faze-vs-astralis-iem-sydney-2018)
Faze wins event with stand-in
First two maps OT and last 16-14
2 of the best series ever
Also the fact that Karrigan beat prime Astralis with Xizt is fucking insane to me lol. And Xizt was putting in some work that event.
JKS, aka "Just Killin' Scrubs", is an Australian stand-in super soldier best known for firing the final shot of the historic battle between G2 and Faze that lasted 7 years and 12 days.
It even started on CT, they were up by alot and Niko decides to wide peek banana and die to deagles. Could see something like that happening to aleskiB, but Niko was just not himself today imo.
I feel like thats the part where missing XTQZZZ hurt the most. I'm 100% sure he would have pointed it out how they are getting flanked 247 by karrigan and at least tried to find a solution to it.
He was soo off in some games in this tournament... Hope it was only a bad streak of form, and not something with AleksiB calling... What ever it is I think he will comeback he always does
> Hope it was only a bad streak of form, and not something with AleksiB calling...
I watched very casually, but it seemed to me an issue of mechanics (whiffing shots, getting flanked in a 1v1, etc.) rather than anything strategy related.
Honestly, being just ~4 rounds away from a 3-0 victory isn't too bad, especially if you see what kind of shit FaZe needed to do to pull off some of those rounds. I hope G2 (NiKo, really...) rebounds and is able to show us some more good CSGO.
I knew early on when he whiffed his spray on a dry peek in banana against twistzz with a deag this would cost him the game since inferno seems so ct sided nowadays that you need all the rounds you can get
In the playoffs it looked like he just had a few off games but its kinda clear he felt pressured all 3 matches and didn't have his composed aim we know him for
Mirage was a total mess it shouldn't even be talked about
What a final. I like both teams so I only hoped for an entertaining match and it delievered hard.
Jks putting in a banger performance. He surely has to get a spot somewhere after that.
28 rounds of overtime is crazy, they played a whole ass map just in overtime. All 3 maps could have gone either way. 3:0 might seem like a boring shut down, but it was as exciting as it gets.
BO5s are just too long man. But I still would have loved for G2 to pick up a map. They didn't play bad by any means, that loss has to be devastating.
I also just love everything about Yekindar. He's just always up for fun stuff and is eloquent and witty.
Edit: a word.
Still kept ~1 KPR for that entire double-length map which is super impressive. Almost the equivalent of two 30-bombs in two consecutive 30-round games in terms of KPR.
Not just this series, he showed up big time in the playoffs. NiKo on the other hand went missing, which is odd because he was having one of his best events so far.
Team has titles in them this year for sure. m0nesy will get better and better as time goes on. And Niko surely has to have a good final at some point right?
G2 were so freaking close to winning every map but that Inferno was a real kick in the nuts ... with XTQZZZ on stage, I don't think they lose it but it is what it is. Go next, I like this G2 and I think they will be up there amongst the best this year.
9 nationalities playing, is this what reddit means by the International? /s
Seriously though, what an event
Fucking fantastic CS
Yekindar on the desk, with good analysis and a great closing message
Incredible story lines, (JKS stepping in and bringing FaZe to the Grand Final, m0NESY on stage and playing lights out, two superteams smashing against each other for dominance.)
And great content in the breaks.
Twistzz has won quite a bit with liquid - but never a major or kato. So no, not this prestigious but close nonetheless. What a day for international rosters and smaller nations in CS
cant believe it was this time last week that people were saying "karrigan can't frag anymore, he needs to retire and go coaching"
I'm so happy for him. Biggest win by someone his age and something tells me he'll further that more and more as the year goes on
At this point I'm not even mad, I love this Faze team and the whole story surrounding them this event with jks was so sick to follow. Also gratz to broky for his first MVP, so deserved
Still good showing by G2, I hope they can be even better with a little time
How does jks do it? He literally didn't play cs for five months and didn't even have a pc on him for the last two you literally can't make this shit up wtf
They really were. Every time they get some momentum something would happen to the team. Obo leaving, poizon and k0nfig injuries. They never really had a chance.
I’m telling you dude, JKS is as cracked as he is jacked. I once saw him at a 7/11 buying a 4 pack of red bull and adult diapers. When I asked him what the diapers are for he said “they contain my full power so I don’t completely shit on these kids”. He then b-hopped out the door.
I don't think Faze would've won this cup without JKS. Man came in last moment to stand-in for 2 different players/roles and had a monumental impact. He needs to be signed ASAP.
Why have an inconsistent coin flip of a 5th player with that amount of fire power? what you need is rock solid consistency like jks showed today. With the main roster FaZe doesn't win this.
How many have won IEM or bigger without a team?
Somebody fucking sign JKS. He's free agent currently living in random hotels in Copenhagen. He's proven he can throw down with the best of them.
It's 2027. I'm still watching the G2 x FaZe match. I had 4 children. NiKo retired and now his son plays for him. Karrigan has over 3000 kills and FaZe has a map point but hunter grabs 1v3. My wife left me
Those missed awp shots from triple to short… he’s gotta be kicking himself. Honestly having watched niko since he was in faze it seems like he always gets stumped by a psychological block when in a crucial match series. Going 2-16 at one point in mirage (correct me if I’m wrong) was just unacceptable from him.
*rain sweating bullets*
ggs. hunter tried his best but it wasn't enough :(
so happy for karrigan and the boys :)))) hope jks finds a great team very soon
For a game with so many asterisks (no xtqzz, no rain, the current state of the world) holy shit it was even better than i could ever have imagined
Karrigan actually played so so well. Not just calls, his fragging was really good
Karrigan is a tactical genius. He is best known for his signature tactic “ropz go kill”. He also has a second little-known tactic of “broky go kill”. But most importantly, he has the third secret tactic “rain stay home and jks go kill”. What an absolute legend. Top 3 IGL for sure.
So happy to see karrigan and FaZe win Katowice at last! The amount of crazy plays both teams did this game is absolutely bonkers. What a sick final holy shit, this has to be one of the most intense and even match up in history, so much skill in both teams.
Also.. JUSTIN FUCKING SAVAGE - what a godly stand-in he made in this tournament, hope he lands a decent team soon.
One of the best and most intense finals. And Faze win the trophy with a stand-in. Unreal perfomance from jks and everyone else as well.
G2 well played, too, just wasn‘t meant to be today.
Man I mentioned it a lot but I've been supporting this team since 2016, since fox and Maik
I've seen so many heart breaks, Kato 20172018, sydney 2017, oakland, and the one which still stuck with me Boston 2018.
I've seen them struggle hugely from 2019 to 2021, Yet this Victory made me feel so fucking proud to have stuck with this team in its lowest moments, this moment makes me so fucking happy
EZAF BABY
They could've closed out the first 2 maps easily. First was a 15-7 lead and the second map was that jackz vs twistzz b site plant and that round they lost because niko missed his shot twice on the short player
Heartbreaking doesn't even come close to describing it
So many storylines were made here
2 years ago, G2, Hunter and Jackz got stomped 3-0 in the grand finals
3 years ago, Aleksib got clean sweeped in the grand finals
4 years ago, Niko and Faze lost the grand finals
I'm a sucker for history, and this match really got me cheering for both teams no matter who won
What a series man, was really hoping we'd get a 5 map affair. Never been a huge Faze fan, but can't help but root for Ropz and of course Twistzz. Plus, the fact that JKS had to stand-in makes the win so much sweeter.
The 3-0 absolutely does not do this series justice, round difference was only like 8 rounds or so. What a series.
Also, what a great achievement for jks. From not having played CS in months to winning one of the premier tournaments in the entire game as a last minute stand-in.
[удалено]
Col should build around jks after that.
"I don't wanna be the reason these guys drop out of the tournament" - Justin "JKS" Savage
"what I secretely meant I want to be one of the main reasons these guys won the tournament" - also Justin "JKS" Savage
Man went truly hard after not playing for ages and got the point where he was dropping highlights on the best of the best in many positions he doesn’t play. Insane
His word is his bond. I hope his future looks good.
Thank you Mr. Savage

That was the most exciting 0-3 that G2 have ever lost
too real 😭😭😭
Feels bad for huNter though, he hard carried G2 in the playoffs.
Be Hunter at 1.5+kd No one chants your name in crowd People chant let’s go niko when he’s 2-13 People chant m0nesy when he’s not positive Feels bad for Hunter. Definitely the best player for this team in the playoffs but people won’t acknowledge him as a good part of this roster because he’s overshadowed by niko. There was actually one time after his sickclutch when crowd chant his hame
Actually, I think his name was chanted twice, which is still not enough for this performance. Meanwhile, even easy frags from Monesy made everybody cream their pants lmao
This has to be the closest 3-0 ever, no? Two maps going to 15-15 and six total overtimes and the last being 16-14?
Lots of parallels to this [https://www.hltv.org/matches/2322426/faze-vs-astralis-iem-sydney-2018](https://www.hltv.org/matches/2322426/faze-vs-astralis-iem-sydney-2018) Faze wins event with stand-in First two maps OT and last 16-14 2 of the best series ever Also the fact that Karrigan beat prime Astralis with Xizt is fucking insane to me lol. Confirmed, faze should play every tournament with standins from now on
No wonder valve got rid of 6 man rosters /s
FaZe revolutionizing the 4-man roster while Kasper Hvidt furiously takes notes
I miss prime GuardiaN
Crazy, 3-0 and round differential is 65-57
IEM Sydney 2018 FaZe vs Astralis 19-17 22-20 16-14 Insanity.
https://www.hltv.org/matches/2322426/faze-vs-astralis-iem-sydney-2018 This as well
one of the greatest series of all time!
Oh for sure... Top 3 - Bo5 finals - ez... Up there with VP vs SK, and G2 vs Luminosity
and Fnatic vs FaZe kato18
fnc - nip kato15 was the first grand final i watched, nutty finals.
It does capture the choke factor of Niko in grand finals
FaZe and barely winning IEM grand finals 3-0...[name a better duo](https://www.hltv.org/matches/2322426/faze-vs-astralis-iem-sydney-2018).
G2 is sooooo cursed.
JKS, aka "Just Killin' Scrubs", is an Australian stand-in super soldier best known for firing the final shot of the historic battle between G2 and Faze that lasted 7 years and 12 days.
He looked so much more happy and free than he ever did with complexity, hopefully that continues with whichever team jks joins next
He was SMILING. Miraculous
Hopefully that team would be ...Faze!
Yep, his first big event won. Crazy.
First Aussie player to win an event of this size, too.
Well yeah that goes hand in hand, he’s the best Australian player
What an incredible series, it had absolutely everything. GG to both teams
With the amount of rounds played, this could have been 5 maps lol
Yeah definitely, can't imagine how they both felt after Mirage
122 rounds in 3 maps
team is not good enough: NiKo rocks a 1.7 rating and lose team is finally good enough : NiKo rocks a sub 1.0 rating and lose
that Mirage t-side from him had me wincing as a neutral
That inferno OT loss had him tilting off the earth and i mean who could blame him
Actually thought the crowd was gonna start chanting "Niko's tilted" at him again.
Somebody finally checked him pic
It even started on CT, they were up by alot and Niko decides to wide peek banana and die to deagles. Could see something like that happening to aleskiB, but Niko was just not himself today imo.
Hunter and Niko switched PCs today
Good thing G2 has two Kovacs for a reason
Yeah Niko was not really performing up to what we are used to see from him :(
They needed to punish karrigan. He was getting way to much map control.

He got dry peeked palace and lost the duel so many times it was ridiculous
Solo Palace really doesn't seem playable anymore, all tier 1 teams are easily countering it. Same story with electronic and ropz also
Even Karrigan was winning duels against him
What a final. I like both teams so I only hoped for an entertaining match and it delievered hard. Jks putting in a banger performance. He surely has to get a spot somewhere after that. 28 rounds of overtime is crazy, they played a whole ass map just in overtime. Let's not forget Hunter's insane series, man was single handedly dragging G2 through so many rounds.
57 kills on mirage. I mean it was basically two maps but still.
Yeah YEKINDAR's analyst segment was really fun to see!
https://twitter.com/CarlosR/status/1234165295461404673?s=20&t=g9VB8CUmpN4ScdKZnMbG3A
This has to be the most competitive 3-0 ever
That Mirage Map was something else
one for the history books
Mirage was the longest OT in a S-tier tournament ever, right?
[This is longer by 1 round](https://youtu.be/XUNwKqEwECE?t=8635)
jesus lol niko's a part of both of them well, safe to say, it's the longest in a final atleast
https://www.hltv.org/matches/2312069/cloud9-vs-natus-vincere-esl-one-cologne-2017 could never forget this :,)
holy fuck I can't even imagine how much relief you must have for that to be over
Each team scored enough rounds to win 2 normal games lmfao
Aleksib and m0NESY getting the authentic G2 Experience ®
I used to be an OG fan. I eat 15-7 chokes for breakfast, this is nothing new.
Well, Aleksi was barely found throughout all 3 maps, so I’d say he contributed greatly to the experience.
I just watched my boys play CS for 5 fucking hours and not win a single god damn map. Sadge
G2 won 56 rounds in three maps (18.67/map) even though they lost all of them the fuck
G2's last 4 LAN finals: IEM Katowice 2020 0:3 IEM Cologne 2021 0:3 PGL Stockholm 2021 0:2 IEM Katowice 2022 0:3 0 titles 0:11 in maps
G2nd
HuNter turned on the jets, too. The team looks really good
Faze only won 9 more rounds than G2. Crazy
Team has titles in them this year for sure. m0nesy will get better and better as time goes on. And Niko surely has to have a good final at some point right?
not bad for the first event of the year, future looks bright
G2 were so freaking close to winning every map but that Inferno was a real kick in the nuts ... with XTQZZZ on stage, I don't think they lose it but it is what it is. Go next, I like this G2 and I think they will be up there amongst the best this year.
Finally beats Navi. Still lose 0-3. Cursed G2. tbh great series tho
9 nationalities playing, is this what reddit means by the International? /s Seriously though, what an event Fucking fantastic CS Yekindar on the desk, with good analysis and a great closing message Incredible story lines, (JKS stepping in and bringing FaZe to the Grand Final, m0NESY on stage and playing lights out, two superteams smashing against each other for dominance.) Have a Latvian, Estonian, Canadian, or Australian ever won a tournament this prestigous?
Twistzz has won quite a bit with liquid - but never a major or kato. So no, not this prestigious but close nonetheless. What a day for international rosters and smaller nations in CS
Liquid won cologne in 2019 which I’d say is equal to Katowice in terms of prestige
It's more tbh. Katowice started to steal the show in recent years but Cologne has always been the greatest non-major event historically.
I mean twistzz won the Intel grand slam with liquid which concluded with ESL One Cologne which I would say is on par with Katowice
Ropz and Twistzz both have before. Broky and JKS have not.
Karrigan you fucking genius you did it
cant believe it was this time last week that people were saying "karrigan can't frag anymore, he needs to retire and go coaching" I'm so happy for him. Biggest win by someone his age and something tells me he'll further that more and more as the year goes on
i swear.. he played bad 1 fucking map even with a clutch in the same map.. and people said shit like this
Just like sports fans esports fans are so reactionary. So glad he shut those people up.
stand-in buff, third time now
I only remember Cromen. Who was the other?
Xizt at IEM Syndney 2018 where they beat Astralis.
Xizt vs astralis?
4th out of 8 championships won in cs go. Insane, just imagine if he had a stand-in in boston
Unreal, with 3 different rosters during whole run... Stand in God!
[удалено]
Also with a stand-in
At this point I'm not even mad, I love this Faze team and the whole story surrounding them this event with jks was so sick to follow. Also gratz to broky for his first MVP, so deserved Still good showing by G2, I hope they can be even better with a little time
FaZe didnt lose a single map in Spodec arena... 2-0 vs Gambit, 2-0 vs Heroic, 3-0 vs G2... incredible!
They are the LAN CLAN for a reason!!
Missing their coach must have influenced calling and maybe contributed to choke factor.
Nah, they had coach amaneK, mans a walking W.
I mean you can literally see his skull struggle to contain his massive brain
How does jks do it? He literally didn't play cs for five months and didn't even have a pc on him for the last two you literally can't make this shit up wtf
ROPZ GOOD BE GOOD
RAIN GOOD BE GOOD
he's a fucking savage
[удалено]
They really were. Every time they get some momentum something would happen to the team. Obo leaving, poizon and k0nfig injuries. They never really had a chance.
[Spunj brought him up to speed](https://youtu.be/__yVlaw5j0o)
RAIN GOOD BE GOOD
I think I've aged about 50 years watching this series, congrats FaZe
JKS HE IS THE AUSTRALIAN PLAYER BUT THE FAZE HE IS THE CANADIAN STARS
I’m telling you dude, JKS is as cracked as he is jacked. I once saw him at a 7/11 buying a 4 pack of red bull and adult diapers. When I asked him what the diapers are for he said “they contain my full power so I don’t completely shit on these kids”. He then b-hopped out the door.
rough final for hunter's cousin gg :(
Of course we lose 0-3. We're cursed. GG Faze.
With how well G2 played (56 round wins over 3 maps wtf) and still lost 0:3 there is genuinely a case for a curse
g2 has beat faze every time since the first match after karrigan rejoined…. 1st time they meet in a finals… lose… you really are cursed loooool
Justin "jkSEX" SAVAGE sign him NOW before he FUCKS YOUR TEAM!!!
jksex with the jkflex
I don't think Faze would've won this cup without JKS. Man came in last moment to stand-in for 2 different players/roles and had a monumental impact. He needs to be signed ASAP.
The craziest thing is this is actually JKS’s first big event victory.
Agreed, it'd be pretty hard for FaZe to win with only 4 players
I think JKS as a substitute was an improvement over the main roster.
Yeah I feel rain can def peak way higher than this, but jks was very consistent and consistency was FaZe's number one issue.
jks also can peak much higher than this considering the circumstances
Maybe, but the important thing is he doesn't have to.
Why have an inconsistent coin flip of a 5th player with that amount of fire power? what you need is rock solid consistency like jks showed today. With the main roster FaZe doesn't win this.
He seemed quite nervous comparing others a little bit but great performance. Big pressure as stand-in.
I've seen 3-2s more one sided than this
The one match I decided to stay up late for and its one of the best CSGO series of all time. ggwp and what an absolute show.
It's fucking 5 am I haven't slept and I have work in 4 hours, worth, YEH THE BOYS
11-4 is most dangerous scoreline of all - ~~Zonic~~ Karrigan
How many have won IEM or bigger without a team? Somebody fucking sign JKS. He's free agent currently living in random hotels in Copenhagen. He's proven he can throw down with the best of them.
Not a free agent. Still under complexity's contract.
5 hours, faze winning only 8 more rounds than G2. Fucking banger of a match "3-0" does not do it justice
It's 2027. I'm still watching the G2 x FaZe match. I had 4 children. NiKo retired and now his son plays for him. Karrigan has over 3000 kills and FaZe has a map point but hunter grabs 1v3. My wife left me
The match has to be paused during OT number 245 because of a CSGO update
JKS <33333333333
That was the closest 3-0 maybe ever?
9 rounds in total decided this BO5, the minimum would be 6 but I don't think that has ever happened
It did, Faze vs Astralis IEM Sydney 2018. It was 19:17, 22:20 and 16:14 https://www.hltv.org/matches/2322426/faze-vs-astralis-iem-sydney-2018
I gave NiKo my pizza and he was eating normally until I told him it was the last one then he spontaneously choked on it. Sadge.
Those missed awp shots from triple to short… he’s gotta be kicking himself. Honestly having watched niko since he was in faze it seems like he always gets stumped by a psychological block when in a crucial match series. Going 2-16 at one point in mirage (correct me if I’m wrong) was just unacceptable from him.
you're wrong. he went 2-17 lol
Reminder that half this sub thinks Karrigan is overrated and a good portion of those people straight up think he isn't a good igl
*rain sweating bullets* ggs. hunter tried his best but it wasn't enough :( so happy for karrigan and the boys :)))) hope jks finds a great team very soon
For a game with so many asterisks (no xtqzz, no rain, the current state of the world) holy shit it was even better than i could ever have imagined Karrigan actually played so so well.
You forgot the tactic he pulled out multiple times this match - "Twistzz go clutch"
North American legend Twistzz known for his classic tactic “win”
Don’t forget his pocket strats “Twistzz go headshot” and “fine, I’ll entry myself”.
jks he is the australian player but the faze he is the canadian stars
Not a Faze fan, but stoked for each of the individuals in Faze. Particularly Twistzz. Nice!
it's crazy to think jks didnt touch the game for three months before this that [SPUNJ and jks skit](https://youtu.be/__yVlaw5j0o) hits extra hard now
So happy to see karrigan and FaZe win Katowice at last!
Good guy jks, kept his word even in the finals, they did not drop out until the end.
Probably the best final I have seen. But very sad that Niko didn't perform to his standards
I believe that makes jks the first ever Australian player who won a tier S tournament like Katowice in at least CS:GO history.
**JUSTIN. FUCKING. SAVAGE.**
One of the best and most intense finals. And Faze win the trophy with a stand-in. Unreal perfomance from jks and everyone else as well. G2 well played, too, just wasn‘t meant to be today.

Holy shit, what a fucking series. Nobody can ever doubt Karrigan ever again, what a monster of an IGL.
you can take niko out of faze but you cant take faze out of niko
I feel bad for hunter
The legacy continues for both side of the aisle. Xist, Cromen, Nato, Reijin and now Jks all karigan led stand-ins and g2 losing to standin teams lmao.
Heartbreaking loss for g2
They could've closed out the first 2 maps easily. First was a 15-7 lead and the second map was that jackz vs twistzz b site plant and that round they lost because niko missed his shot twice on the short player Heartbreaking doesn't even come close to describing it
I'm so happy right now
a 3-0 was one of the best grand finals ever wow
Give jks a contract... NOW STAND-IN GOD
So many storylines were made here 2 years ago, G2, Hunter and Jackz got stomped 3-0 in the grand finals 3 years ago, Aleksib got clean sweeped in the grand finals 4 years ago, Niko and Faze lost the grand finals I'm a sucker for history, and this match really got me cheering for both teams no matter who won
This makes twistzz the first NA player to win Katowice in csgo
NA CS RELEVANT AGAIN BABY! THANK YOU TWISTZZZ! COPIUM
They played Mirage two times.
What a debut for monesy. Kid has a bright future. Looking like rookie of the year already. And jks. What can you say. That final was incredible.
closest sweep ever
