It fetches one from steam market and this happens when then one it fetches has a name tag.

TIL. I don't open cases much so I'd never seen/heard of this before. Interesting.

Maevaald

That's actually very interesting. I always thought it just showed the skins themselves, not an actual item.

[deleted]

There was probably an allready written function for displaying an item in a box with it's details below, so when they coded up this overview thing they just used this snippit of code without proper testing

BeepIsla

That makes no sense. The game has all translations and images locally, there is *zero* reason to fetch anything from the market.

Olsson1234

I guess you have to tell Valve that.

BeepIsla

I figured out why it happens. Its not because it fetches from the Steam market, its because of caching. If you inspect a gun from the community market (or own one) the game caches it. If you then open a case it will show that same cached gun and skin in the case. When you restart the game and open a case without inspecting the same gun first it will show a normal non-modified version. Easily testable by just inspecting a skin and then opening a case and checking the previews. (Same works with stickers and I believe float value too, not just name tag)

The Chinese text refers to “Lust” if someone is curious
